Wow , the hickory team Halloween spooks have really gone to town on the decorations , beware to be scared . Had a nice drink in the garden , Jack , Ed & Dave there , smoke bellowing from the smoker preparing lovely smoked food .

Great food and great ambience! As always the food was fabulous, this is our local 'go to' place to eat and we have eaten here many times and never a bad experience. Following a recent menu update the only problem is deciding what to eat! Make sure you go hungry as the portions are huge (you can ask for a box to take home your left overs for tomorrow's lunch) and although there are puddings, we have never seen anybody order one, so I think they could just be for show! A proper American diner that never fails to deliver - can't recommend this place highly enough

We have been here several times before and the food has always been amazing. Ed (Chef) has really upped his game and gotten truly inspired with the latest menu and I have to say the current burgers are truly inspired...my partner had the Rogan Nosh which is a truly masterful creation and something I can only guess has been inspired by Ed's travels. I had a smoky Spanish braiser, our lad had a Big clucker...which also didn't disappoint...the whole meal was a culinary triumph 😃. The service was attentive and friendly which made the whole evening a night to remember. If ever you are on the fence as to whether to go to the Hickory inn...don't be...just go 👍. I promise you won't be disappointed

Popped in as my 2 boys and I wanted burgers and my wife likes it there as it has a good vegetarian menu. My wife and boys scared a frickle starter which they loved and I had the special Jamaican wings which were fantastic with the contrast of the sweet tangy pineapple and slight heat from the chilli. Boys had kids burger and wings for main, my eldest said the wings were the best he's had. My wife had the vegetarian Louisiana casserole which was great and she also liked that the staff asked if she was vegan or vegetarian as she's a vegetarian and hates vegan cheese etc which other restaurants add on the vegetarian options without offering standard cheeses etc. I had the special Hong Kong burger which was great but too big after the wings so took the leftovers home and had it for breakfast 🤣 Boys had ice-cream for pud and they loved the maple drizzle, my wife had apple strudel which she again said was the best she's ever had. Overall it was a fantastic meal and the service was second to none, we enjoyed it so much we booked for the Sunday carvery. Thanks to everyone at The Hickory Inn 😊

Visited here as a belated birthday meal for my husband, we were searching for somewhere local being based in Uffculme and this place came up highly rated on Google, we never even knew it was a restaurant! We had a splendid night, the food was insanely good, my only regret is that we could not finish it all! We ordered the 6 meat sharer platter so we could try a variety, and it did not disappoint! The service was the biggest strength though, the team were impeccable and really made the atmosphere. Jack was very friendly, approachable and chatty, he knew a lot about the local area too. Daisy the serve who took our order was very polite and professional throughout. Tori the barmaid greeted and seated us on arrival and made us feel welcomed and relaxed right from the get go. The service of the team alone has definitely made this a new return hot spot for us 🫶🏻 fabulous evening out.

We found the Hickory In on a google search so didn’t know what to expect. When we turned up we were unsure but the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were served by Jack, Charlie and Evie and they were great. Excellent and super friendly service. The food… was to die for! Amazing! The pulled pork was amazing, beef brisket just melted in your mouth and a large range of vegetarian dishes (highly recommend the bean chilli nachos). The chocolate brownie milkshake was out of this world. Reasonably priced, big portions and amazing value for money! If you get the chance go!

Ed and his team have clearly put a massive amount of effort into this place, and it shows. Our food and drinks were excellent, so much love, care and attention has gone into these dishes. Such generous portions, sadly we couldn't finish them! Unfortunately, due to location, this place does not receive as many customers as it deserves. If it was to go, it would be a very sad situation, but Ed has said that he will be continuing his brilliant work, even if he has to move it somewhere else. Please make use of this amazing place before it is gone. Keep up the good work Ed and team.

We called in for a dinner time pint and some food. The court yard is a collection of wooden shacks with a beer table to seat 4 or 6 at a squash, in an attractive setting.The food menu is huge, with so many options. The smell of the food from the grills both inside and out was amazing and the food was stunning. We spoke to the manager called Abs and she was polite, helpful and friendly all in one. The only pity was we were on our way elsewhere but will definitely call back soon.

What a fantastic place, great atmosphere, amazing food and brilliant staff. Especially Jack who was a very attentive host. He clearly has a passion for what he does. We were absolutely stuffed when we left. Meatopia heaven. Even offered us a doggy bag for leftovers.

We have been a few times before to The Hickory Inn and thought the place and food fantastic. We had friends visiting and decided to go for dinner, that way they could jump on the motorway afterwards. We had a lovely meal, and each couple had a 4 meat platter which was delicious and our friends left full and jealous that we have such a gem so close by. Thanks to Jack and Evie for their pleasant front of house service skills. We will definitely be back again, if you haven't been before, you're missing out.

Having been to Texas and experienced authentic BBQ food, we were blown away by the food here. Definitely the closest to the real thing we’ve found here in the UK. The brisket were both beautifully smoked and not slathered in sauce. The sides were amazing too. Jack was our server and was helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back. Maybe next time in our stretchy pants!

Love this place, nice village pub with excellent food, great service and friendly staff, nothing is never too much trouble. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for excellent value for money with a great atmosphere to boot.

We went here as a late Valentine’s day date and were amazed by the lovely service staff (Lori, Chloe & Daisy) also there was a man who started off serving us (sorry cant remember the name). The food was astounding, thanks to chefs Ed & Dave for the wonderful food. 11/10 will go again

We went for a late Valentine’s dinner and were NOT disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing thanks to the chefs (Ed& Dave)- fabulous flavours and perfectly cooked; the staff (Tori, Daisy and Chloe) were kind and helpful and the atmosphere was quiet and cosy. Perfect for a quiet little date.

We visited the Hickory Inn recently to celebrate my son’s birthday. We have been many times before and plan to visit again shortly. We were welcomed and served by Chloe who provided excellent service throughout the evening. I am vegan and there is always a good range of meals to choose from. The drinks menu also supplies a V on many of the drinks. This is something I have not seen in many restaurants. The food was excellent - as always. We always take our dog as the Hickory Inn is very dog friendly and he is always made very welcome. The Hickory Inn is an excellent venue. We particularly like the layout. The tables are all very spaced out. There is lots of room between each table - something you very rarely get in most restaurants. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning again soon x

We're return customers, with good reason. Not only is the service friendly and helpful (this time it was Chloe who was lovely), but we enjoy eating good food in a welcoming atmosphere. It's a rare night out on which I have a range of gluten free options - but at the Hickory I have to actually choose between almost everything on the menu! Aww shucks; it means we'll have to keep coming back until I've made my way through all possible choices. The food came in good time and was clearly freshly cooked - no sign of it having been sitting around at all. Lovely combinations of flavours, and even the most voracious of appetites must be fulfilled with a Hickory meal.

Place was pretty dirty and the tables and menus where sticky never a good sign , We had the smoked food platter for two which was average if I wasn’t starving I would of asked for it to be replaced the hot links where pork sausages The turkey was moist but cold ,the brisket was dry as and tasted like it been smoked with pine very harsh smoke taste profile and covered in gravy , who puts gravy on smoked meats The belly pork was delicious but again cold Onion rings where greasy cold and tasted like been cooked in dirty oil Mac and cheese was baked to dry Chips good coleslaw great but honestly very average when asked staff about what wood you use they didn’t have a clue just said it’s out back Checked it out pretty messy back there too needs a good clean Wouldn’t go again which is sad as had potential to be a great smoke house with the right pit master and crew I did watch from the front and saw the chef drying his hands with the same tea towel he wiped the sides with then used it to lift the trays out the oven with too it was grey dirty and shouldn’t be used 5 out of ten for me

Disappointing food. A number of items listed on the menu and specials board were not available, and when our meals (eventually) arrived the food was overcooked and very dry (much of it looked and tasted like it had been re-heated). Whilst I understand that the venue is a smokehouse, I hadn't expected every element of the food to taste of smoke (including the vegetables and stuffing) which meant everything tasted the same and overpowering.

Our first Sunday roast at the Hicory Inn and we will return. Food was amazing and the staff were very attentive. Chloe who served as was an absolute gem.

The food here is always amazing. Good options for specials that always make it hard to pick what dish you want. For BBQ lovers this is a must. Massive portions too! Chloe was really helpful and chatty when we came, quick for service. Can't fault. Will be back soon and often!

Celebrating a 60th Birthday The staff and the Sunday roast were amazing We were offered tomato soup free of charge, we then had a very large roast dinner, beautifully presented & prepared. A very yummy milkshake. Then we had our own birthday cake ( which we brought in ) and the member of staff sang happy birthday with us.
