Lamb Inn in Mid Devon

A fantastic ale house in the middle of the village, superb real ales on tap, and from barrels, and the home made food is to die for, tasty, and plenty of it, a great atmosphere, with great hosts, makes this one of the best pubs in Mid Devon, if not the best.

Lovely location, friendly staff, very clean, nice decor. Food was average , but sadly they had no vegan options on the menu . Would definitely visit again for a drink.

Very friendly welcome and service. Lovely food at good prices. We had the steak & ale pie and the steak burger and enjoyed both.

My daughter, my husband and myself (and our dog) had a beautiful lunch here on Thursday 21st March 2024. The food was excellent. Can't fault it at all. It has a lovely atmosphere, the staff and the people in there were very friendly. I would definitely recommend you paying The Lamb Inn in Silverton a visit if you are in the area.

As a member of a car club I arrange for a group from Devon to join together for Sunday Lunch, I provided numbers, as requested, however additional members arrived unexpectedly. Although extremely busy, the owner and the family went out of their way to accommodate us. As a result my position was stress free, the member unaware of any problems. The compliment regarding the food and venue The Lamb Inn were numerous, thank you, you made my job easy. We will come again for sure.

What a great pub. Great atmosphere, the food was absolutely delicious with very generous portions. We had a very warm welcome and chat with the landlord. Will definitely be going back.

Best carvery and a nice feel to a country pub. Me and my family wanted to try somewhere different to go for a carvery and we are glad we picked the lamb inn silverton. Even their desserts were top. Cant recommended this place enough.

Great service and even better food. For a Thursday it was busy and the staff were on it. The food was excellent for all four of us. The best Steak & Ale pie I've had for a long while.

Friendly welcome and pleasant atmosphere. Bar area is open plan, but there are plenty of cosy corners to sit. We had two good snacks and local ale is well kept in barrels behind bar

The food was spectacular, with a great service from the staff who were very polite and helpful the place was clean and tidy and would reccomend to anyone passing

Four of us went for dinner, food was piping hot. Plenty of food. Service was good, food came out in very good time. I had the ribs- spot on Husband had the smokie- loved it. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely local pub! The food was amazing. The local guest beers were very moreish. The locals were so friendly that they wouldn’t let us walk back to our accommodation down the country lanes in the dark. The landlady Rachel very kindly gave us a lift back after a wonderful evening.

We were staying in a cottage in another village and in the visitors book the lamb inn had been highly recommended. There were 4 of us and we were welcomed by the staff we got our drinks from the bar and then sat at our table with the menus. Some beautiful items very difficult to chose one had Mexican chicken which they enjoyed and 2 had ribs and one the burger. The meat on the burger was delicious and the coleslaw that came with the meals was delicious. The tapas that was also on the menu sounded delicious it was very hard to choose. 3 puddings were ordered a sundae chocolate fudge cake and a waffle all were really enjoyed. A lovely way to spend the last night of our holiday. I stupidly left my handbag and when I returned it had been placed safely behind the bar.

We live in Exeter and like to try different pubs around the area at a weekend. We visited Sunday 12th. This was the first time we've tried the 'Lamb Inn' and it won't be our last. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked in, which is always such a nice start. We both had the steak & ale pie with chips & petit pois. The pie was amazing with such tender beef in a good amount of gravy. The portion sizes are very generous so make sure you have an appetite. Very good value for money too! The pub was spotlessly clean including the toilets. We will definitley return, thank you for the warm welcome.

We've been to the Lamb loads of times and we have never had a bad experience - always great food whether at lunchtime, in the evening or on Sundays when there is an excellent Sunday carvery, It has a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere and good ale. The Lamb is a proper village pub with lots of locals who make visitors feel at home. It's not trying to be a gastropub but serves hearty, tasty, well cooked food that is way above the average pub grub. We can't recommend it highly enough. Well done Chris, Rachel and the team. Keep doing what you do and we'll keep coming back.

Absolute fabulous pub great host and staff, great selection of local drinks and a great selection on the menu that is really good. Parking is the only issue.

A fantastic meal,i had cod and chips and my wife had the goats cheese and walnut salad.Whitebread between us as a started. All cood really well and very tasty,salad came with new potatoes boiled and beetroot as well as the usual salad stuff.Fish was superb as was the chips,starter was really tasty. Staff were very welcoming and friendly as well as being very helpful. It was our 49 th wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better place.

Wonderful. 10 of us went for a meal on a Saturday evening and couldn't fault it. Menu is varied for all tastes, huge portions and top quality. The staff were friendly and attentive, service was spot on. The pub is welcoming, clean and is just lovely. Highly recommend a visit. Thank you for a great evening.

We stayed in Silverton for two nights and visited the Lamb Inn twice. First visit was 2.30pm only a couple of people in the pub. Wanted food but missed serving time but fully understand. The welcome was lovely by the bar lady and a couple of packets of crisps saved the appetite until later. Second visit within the 12 till 2 lunch time. We'll worth a return the meal are sensational and large. Can recommend the pie and chips or the bacon and chicken salad. Black Rat cider is worth a try. The pub is decorated with interesting items which entertains whilst awaiting your meal. Bar guy was again friendly and happy to help. It's a very nice drink with great food.

It never disappoints whether you go for a drink, weekday lunch/dinner or Sunday lunch. Sensible prices, good quality food, changing choice of ales and amiable service - what's not to like? A really good village pub.

Five of us found very friendly service, well done pub dishes with a few twists. Steaks were cooked exactly as requested, fish and chips was highly praised and my 12 year old granddaughter devoured an entire 12* pizza. Good range of beers and good value...

Great atmosphere, super friendly, cosy Pub. We loved our meal here with our family "bubble" on a recent trip to Tiverton. The Pub is clean and all Covid precautions taken seriously. Five of us individually enjoyed our varied meals - great food and plenty of it with such good prices. Definitely will be back on our next visit to the Tiverton area. Only wish this Pub was nearer Southampton!

We stopped here for a quick lunch on the way to Exeter. So glad we did! We pre- ordered food so service was very quick and the meals were great. Good choice of veggie and vegan food on the menu. It is well set up for Covid control, with screens and hand cleaner in place. Parking on the street was a bit tricky so if you're bringing people who can walk too well plan to drop them off first before parking up the lane.

A quick visit to check up to see how Chris and Rachael were getting on after their first 6 months at The Lamb.They were a huge loss to the BIc and it appears that they have brought all their expertise to the Lamb and ithat they have worked their magic again.We arrived to late for a meal but we will visit again to test the menu which sound delicious - as we would expect.

Aunque su renovación apenas comenzaba, descubrimos que el pub tenía un ambiente encantador con excelentes cervezas directamente desde el barril. Tuvimos un almuerzo de bocadillos que dio en el clavo y decidimos disfrutar de una de las maravillosas cavernas dominicales de Rachel muy pronto. Lástima que el pub está a una hora en coche de nuestra casa, pero vale la pena!

My mother and father in law booked us a table here on a Friday night with themselves as it’s one of there favourite places to eat,the food was amazing and for a local village pub it had a great little gin selection,the 6 of us all had something different to eat and each meal was cooked to perfection and very generous portions,the only down side being we were sat in the bar area and it was very loud we had to shout to just talk to each other,I guess this was expected so close to Christmas,we will come back and try the food again

Cinco de nosotros, que abarcaban tres generaciones de la familia, vinimos aquí con muy poca antelación para el almuerzo del domingo, en el cumpleaños número 88 de mamá, cuando nuestros planes anteriores salieron mal. El comedor estaba lleno, pero el personal había reservado una mesa en el refectorio al lado del bar para nosotros, que era perfecta para la ocasión.La comida era un espléndido asado. Carnes tiernas y jugosas, una amplia selección de verduras, papas, salsas y salsa, cada artículo caliente y cocinado a la perfección. Y un toque especial: el servidor de asado, al ver a mamá luchando por manejar su plato y su bastón, inmediatamente llamó a un asistente de cocina para que la ayudara. Un joven educado, que no solo la ayudó en el mostrador de carnes, sino que también alegremente llevó su plato de regreso a la mesa y la vio sentada con seguridad. ¡Que servicio!Además de buena comida y un ambiente maravillosamente amigable, también había una opción de tres cervezas reales directamente desde el barril. Absolutamente todo lo que un pub realmente genial debería tener. Completamente recomendado!

We had lunch at the Lamb today and had a great meal from a varied menu - something for everyone including vegetarians. The portions were substantial and the quality of the food was excellent. To call it pub grub would be selling it short!

I have never heard of Silverton let alone the Lamb Inn. It's a quintessential Devon village about 8 miles North of Exeter. It's not on a main road more like a road to nowhere. The Lamb Inn, great beer, great food, lovely friendly staff and chatty regulars. That just about somes it up in a nutshell. So next time you are going nowhere, take the road to the Lamb, spend a while and take in some lovely (hilly) walks.

This was our third visit to the Lamb since it came under new ownership. We wouldn't keep going back if it was just average. A great selection on the menu , a warm welcome and great service. Looking forward to our next visit.

I often pop in to read my book and have a beer its a comfortable place to go on your own.Beer at the pub is good and usually local.We thought we'd try the lunch and really enjoyed it.Good service.You might want to check how big the specials are ,my crab and prawn salad was massive!!Like the changes to decor and they've just updated the kitchen the pictures are currently out of date on here.The landlord told us new menu starts tomorrow so we will be back to try.

We heard that the Lamb was under new management so thought we would try it and we were all so impressed with the large menu, full of homemade food. It is perfect pub food and we cant wait to come back.

Whilst not as competitively priced as the Silverton this place is very good. We only stopped for a quick bite and had the ploughmans and it was delicious and plentiful. Team were very friendly as were the locals

11 of us ate here for Mother’s Day,wow! Not only did they have a choice of 3 roast meats but they also had a selection of the normal menu available too,I personally had roast beef which came with a home made Yorkshire,3 huge roast potatoes and then veg served separate which was,cauliflower cheese,carrots,swede,red cabbage and broccoli,they also served extra gravy,everyone enjoyed the meals and commented on the huge portions,we all managed to fit in a desert also a very generous portion and all really tasty,we will visit again for sure,a super local pub

We ate as a table of 4 on a Tuesday night,the food was blooming amazing with a great choice and all cooked beautifully,lots of the items on the menu were local,for a village pub it had a great selection of gins and a great atmosphere,we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for Mother’s Day

Called back in here on a Lads weekend and I'm happy to say it's still as good as when I was here in July. Cracking meal, generous portions, service with a smile and an excellent bar, call in you won't be disappointed.

Mi esposo no podía enfrentar otra tienda de té National Trust, así que buscamos en línea y fuimos a The Lamb para el almuerzo. Excelentes cervezas locales y buena comida. El pudín de espinacas y pan de champiñones fue fantástico y voy a intentar recrearlo cuando esté en casa. Suculento pastel de carne con buenas verduras, pescado fresco y papas fritas y una comida para niños generosa con nugget de pollo (¡no se trata de una pepita reconstituida a la vista!) Vale la pena por un buen almuerzo con una buena pinta.

Nos detuvimos aquí mientras pasábamos y nos alegramos de haberlo hecho. El pub estaba limpio y ordenado. El personal era muy amable y la comida era estupenda, como un pub, nos hubiera gustado haber pasado la noche tomando una copa, no podía ver cualquier estacionamiento aparte de enfrente en la carretera.

5 of us attended recently and we had never been before but it was recommended and boy are we glad we did. My boyfriend and I had the mixed grill and it was gorgeous and one of the best we've had; he always opts for a mixed grill but I rarely do as it's so much meat but it was cooked perfectly and there wasn't a thing out of place. Man oh man the sausages are amazing. The other members of the group had great meals too and all said we'd go back and soon. Highly recommended and although a local pub, don't let this put you off as everyone was very friendly and we didn't feel out of place; if anything we were made to feel like part of the furniture and it was really good. Waiting staff were so lovely and couldn't do enough to make sure everything was enjoyable so thanks for making our first experience great. We'll be back!

A great family friendly pub with a good selection of ale and beer with traditonal pub food and atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their food and the convivial atmosphere. We enjoyed the evening meal with family and the kids loved their choices.

We come to Devon several times a year to visit good friends and dog and house sit for them when they go away on holiday. We always try and visit The Lamb. We love the pub- it has so much atmosphere and is a down to earth, friendly pub. It was nice to see the locals drinking here and we have found this every time we have visited. The landlord was behind the bar and was very friendly and welcoming. In fact when we asked what night the takeaway fish and chips were he said it was Wednesday but offered to do us takeaway fish and chips anyway which was great as we had to get back for the dog. All in all an old fashioned, traditional, friendly pub in a lovely village serving great real ale and excellent food.

Went to the lamb inn after a day walking at Killerton gardens very dog friendly as we have three dogs and food was cooked to perfection I had mixed grill and it was lovely . a really good pub will go again when in area .

Dropped in to silverton where my wife has done silver jewellery courses. Decided on a beer at the lamb to reminisce the younger days when I visited for a game of football whilst a player for Lympstone. To my surprise the pub was very much what I remembered serving excellent local beers and although not eating on the night also serving what looked like very good food. A pleasure to see a good local pub acting as the hub of Silverton.

To be honest picked the Lamb for logistical reasons.

The landlord was really friendly and said it was fine to bring the dog inside. We had lunch and there were lots of local people in the bar area. There was a great atmosphere for a monday lunchtime! Had the salmon on special and it was amazing! Best meal I've had in a long time - other half had belly pork which was also very good. Brilliant meal, good atmosphere, busy and deservedly so.

A pesar de haber vivido en Devon para 37 años mis Raíces permanecen, así que me liverpudlian como una buena oferta! La comida en el Cordero es siempre saludable, sabroso, recién preparado y amplio con un capital "A". Así que mi criterios son siempre satisfechas. El domingo pasado tuvimos el asado y fue una fiesta. Delicioso con 5 diferentes verduras, que pese a mi mejor esfuerzo, no podía polaca. Añadir a que un servicio encantador y amable bienvenida, excelente, sin mucho problema, y gente amable (de todo el país! Por lo tanto mis requerimientos del norte) se cumplen en abundancia. Warm, welcoming, friendly local. Serves food of excellent quality, beautifully cooked with a hearty home-cooked flair. Mostly locally sourced produce and meat. Outstanding pub grub -- and they are delighted to serve gluten-free and other special dietary requirements if you ring ahead. Sunday roast is always outstanding. Generous portions of thoroughly yummy food! Their steaks are also first-rate... possibly the best steaks we have ever had in any pub. Yes -- they are that good! The good folk of Silverton are lucky to have such a friendly and accommodating local with superb pub food -- great ciders, too!!!

Have eaten here before but thought it would be a good idea to update, as things can change in a year. However the service was as good as always, the food is still good, and everyone makes you feel welcome. It is easy to recommend the Lamb, both for food and drink if you happen to be in the area, or are lucky enough to live here.

Lovely friendly warming atmosphere. Really good home cooked specials board changed weekly, and also a fantastic range of classic bar meals, won't be left Hungary portions .

Absolutely terrible meal and the price charged for this aldutery of a meal atrocious Burnt chips steak with no,taste and for the money charged a small portion that doesn't justify the charge. The restaurant cold and the plate the meal served on cold as well the staff more interested in serving beers in the bar than the clientele eating A most in interesting and unsavoury experience

We were staying in nearby Thorverton and came across this pub on a google search! Phoned to book a table and off we went! When we arrived with the baby, we were shown to a table but we asked to move more out of the way of everyone else in case she woke up and evicted half the pub. We had a nice cozy table away from the bar and ordered drinks. The pub has a great selection of local real ales from local EXE brewery which are literally poured directly from the cask behind the bar which is brilliant!! We ordered our starters and mains. We had the blanch-bait and chicken combo to start which was probably enough food to be two meals, so think carefully if your eyes are bigger than the belly! Starters were hot and were served with a lovely chopped up bit of salad which is good as you don't end up doing half the food prep yourself at the table.... good portion size for the money I should add, and if you were there for a lunch, as I said, would be enough as a meal in itself! For the mains we had mushroom stroganoff and fillet steak. The steak meal was superb and so tasty, cooked exactly how I asked and really juicy! Locally sourced meat from just up the road, so all the more reason to eat here... mushroom stroganoff was excellent also, and the sauces are very well made, we can only assume fresh as they didn't seem like packet mix's, plenty of cream in the stroganoff and the pepper corn sauce for the steak. If ordering a steak, judging on my experience you won't be disappointed and you get a generous portion of chips and mushrooms too! Sadly neither of us could finish the meals as we did have bigger eyes to begin with, and a shame as we would have loved to try dessert! Maybe next time?? As I paid, I did manage to clap eyes on what looked to be a sticky toffee cake and ice cream which looked pretty good from what I could see! The lamb had a great atmosphere as it filled up, the staff are friendly and liked a chat rather than just taking your order and money, so all in all a very pleasant meal in a very pleasant pub with very pleasant people! Top marks chef- chef(ess) . Top tip, parking on the road is tight, so you may have to walk a few yards back to your car and walk off the extra calories consumed!!
