Myself and my husband had dinner at the restaurant. We were very disappointed with the food. The service was ok but the food was a disappointment. My husband's starter which was "trio of beetroot" was nice but mine which was "prawn cocktail"was awful. There was hardly any sauce , the lettuce was soggy and the prawn was hard. It was tasteless
After the starter we had to wait a very long time before we got our main course. A couple of times the staff came to apologise and told us that the Dover Sole which I ordered was taking a long time to cook. He offered us a sorbet. Eventually it came and again I was disappointed as it was tasteless.
My husband got his main meal which was beans and lentils pie and then immediately it was taken away because the waiter was not certain that he had received the proper meal. We had to wait for another fifteen minutes for his meal to arrive
The whole experience was not what one would expect from a hotel like this. We were looking forward to a nice evening but it was a disappointment.
It felt as though the chef didn't have any experience of cooking.

Whilst the chips and batter were nice the haddock was inedible and I'm afraid ended up in the bin. I also rhought £11 is also a bit steep for a take away.
We were welcomed into the restaurant by friendly staff and shown to our table. The decor is nicely plain, comfortable and the toilets exceptionally clean (always a good sign) The food was excellent, lots of it and high quality. Great service too, thank you to all involved. We will definitely visit next time we visit with our family from the Midlands.
We stopped off here looking for a bite to eat at an independent place. We were really impressed. Abi was so friendly and helpful. We throughly enjoyed our food and the place was so friendly. We will definitely return. Thanks so much for making our week.
Came here as a family of five, over three generations. Food was amazing and staff very friendly and accommodating all our requests. Will definitely be visiting again.
We visited this pub for a Sunday lunch it was very noisy music was far to loud . I had what was supposed to be roast pork but the meat was brown which still had string on it . Usually pork is white . Hence I didn't even touch it . Just had a plate of veg my husband ordered a lager top which normally is lager with a top of lemonade but his was done with blackcurrant instead . Definitely won't be returning couldn't wait to get out of there
Found on journey home after struggling to find anywhere for breakfast. Easily missed but offers a good basic breakfast with no frills. Value for money with a friendly welcome. Child friendly, unlike many places, and you do not feel rushed.
Absolutely lovely food! Best Chinese I e had in a long time. We had 4 different dishes and each one was excellent! We have taleaway and picked up, was still piping hot when we got back home. Would highly recommend!
Whenever in Sidmouth I always visit The Cheeseboard. There is a wide range of cheeses with the staff being very knowledgeable and offer expert advice. I always come away with a whole range of cheeses and always ensure that I have a good wedge of Devon Blue.
As a bonus, having tried a range of cheeses, I know what to go for when ordering online.
I visited this place on Sunday with my wife, and we ordered mussels and squid. I have to say, the food is very overpriced, even for Exmouth. The mussels cost £25.95 for only 450 grams, which is shocking. Although they were well cooked—something I can appreciate as a chef with many years of experience—they're still overpriced, especially considering that I can get 1 kg of mussels from the supplier for just £5 per kg.
Lovely food. Limited vegetarian options, but the risotto was the best I have ever had. My meat-eating family loved their food too. Staff very friendly and helpful.
