My family and I stopped here today for our first experience of Devon Scones and we were not disappointed! The lady that ran the tea rooms was lovely and made us feel so welcome. The scones were warm and delicious and she also gave us some scrumptious clotted cream biscuits! We have been here in Devon for 6 days and this was the best cup of tea I've had and also a very generous size pot! We were also very tempted to try the cheesey crumpets that another couple were eating as they looked fantastic! We would all highly recommend this as a stop off x

Whilst on holiday in nearby Sidmouth we took a trip to Ottery St Mary and wanted a light lunch. We always look for the independent local cafes/ tea shops and this was lovely. The owner was very welcoming and happy to chat and share information about the town. Food was perfect and she served a lovely pot of tea! Just the sort of place we enjoy!,!

After a 4 mile walk we were in need of a stop for a cup of tea and something to eat. We stumbled across this cafe as most places seemed closed. A warm friendly welcome, we sat in the rear garden and had tea and fresh sandwiches. A great find, with lovely hosts.

We were visiting St Mary's Church and fancied an afternoon tea. This place looks nothing from the outside but is run by a local couple who are the most friendly and excellent hosts. The courtyard in the rear is nothing to look at but we had a wonderful hour sat there. The afternoon tea was cheap but exceptional quality all freshly home made,

Seasons Tea Rooms is located in Silver Street, Ottery St.Mary, almost opposite the London Inn Pub. It's a traditional Tea Rooms and we enjoyed the good quality Tea, Coffee & Teacakes. The Service was prompt and friendly. Very tempting slices of Cakes were available and Meals from Breakfast through to light Lunches. The building is old and it felt a bit cool inside. Seasons offers Quality and Good Value for Locals and Visitors alike. We are local and will definately return.

A nice old fashioned tea room with very friendly staff. Simple but well priced food (breakfasts, jackets, sandwiches, etc.) and a range of hot and cold drinks. Not a huge amount of choice if you’re veggie but a few things on the menu to suit (egg mayo sandwiches, etc.). Dog friendly courtyard with a few tables out the back accessed by an alley way but dogs are not allowed in the tea room.

A good old-fashioned tearoom...quiet, clean and comfortable. Warm and welcoming. Not the kind of tearoom where there are artisans and kids saying 'hi guys' but a tearoom as tearooms used to be. Lovely service, lovely food, great value, all really pleasant.

Went to the Auction in Ottery St. Mary and was looking for a place to have breakfast in the village. Luckily came across this lovely Tea Rooms. They serve a breakfast until 11am and we ordered this, it came with plenty of bacon, two poached eggs, beans, toast and jam/marmalade. The coffees we ordered a Latte and an Americano in a Cafetiere were great. We really enjoyed our breakfast, it was made with quality ingredients, plenty of food, very tasty and great service from the lovely owners and staff. The place was very clean and looked bright and airy with three separate areas to sit. I would definitely recommend a visit here, there was a good choice on the general Tea Room menu and I am sure the other food would be just as delicious. They also have novelty teapots for sale and jewellery and baby items so whilst you are waiting you can have a little look around. A real treasure of a Tea Rooms. We will certainly be back when we are in the area again. Thank you to all concerned for making our outing special.

We were in Ottery St. Mary looking for somewhere to have a light lunch, and found this café. The menu displayed in the window seemed to have appropriate items, so we went in. This was despite the net curtains (mentioned by other reviewers, I now see) which prevented a view of what to expect inside...There was also mention of a garden area; the proprietor readily showed us the courtyard, but explained that it was mostly in shade so we retreated to a table inside despite it being a sunny late summer day.We both chose to have a Ploughman's Lunch - one with cheese and one with ham; also a ginger beer and a lemonade. These were well presented when served, and various dressings etc were offered. The food was simple but good, and definitely enjoyable. Afterwards, having seen a cafetiere served to another table, we decided to share one of those too, and it was excellent coffee to round off the meal. This cafe is in a small and old town-centre building, and the whole atmosphere including internal decoration is in keeping with that. It was a weekday lunchtime when we were there, and unsurprisingly fairly quiet. There are no 'modern distractions' such as music, so apart from quiet conversation the only sounds are those of passing traffic. So if you're looking for good simple food and drink in an old-fashioned setting, this will fit the bill!

We tried to visit yesterday (15 of us) but sadly, contrary to the information found on the Internet, this tea room did not allow us to bring the dog that was with us in. To their credit though, they did point us in the direction of a lovely place just up the hill which was happy to accommodate the little cockerpoochon!

Have been in here a couple of times and have to say that the food is quite nice along with the tea and coffee. staff are friendly and helpful. The downside is the unwelcoming window display which looks like an episode of Bargain Hunt.

We are so pleased to have discovered Seasons . It epitomises all that is good about an English tea room ! Some of the best tea and caffeterie coffee served with proper china tea pots and crockery. Home made soup was delicious and filling ...we barely had room to sample the amazing scones and cakes . Seasons is compact and cosy and has an olde worlde charm with the most friendly welcome you could wish for from the owners .Nothing was too much trouble. In addition to fantastic snacks there are leaflets detailing local information and the owners will help with local knowledge. There are also crafts for sale which add to the ambience of this 'gem' . Sadly not really roomy enough for large family groups tho we would certainly sit a grandchild or two on our knee just to come here again and again ! We can't wait to return .

We have never had a Lunch or even one of their Devonshire Teas here, but we have called in for a pot of tea and a toasted teacake many times. We have always found the people here extremely pleasant; and they do a very nice pot of tea. It is made with loose tea, but held in an internal strainer.OK! This is not The Ritz; but we have always found the whole place clean and tidy, and the tea cups are bone china....always a nice touch...so we cannot understand the two or three negative reviews. As experienced "reviewers", we have been to quite a few "one star or LESS" places on our travels, and can safely say this little place is not one of them! The prices are reasonable. [Their sandwiches we noted were £4. Tea is £2 pp and extra hot water is always offered. The toasted tea cakes were £1-75. (These prices October November 2017).] They offer light meals and some "solid" puddings + custard that would fill you on a cold day.Sadly, like so many English Tea Shops, they close early....just about what we would call "Tea Time". so if you want to have an English Tea here, best make it before 4.0 pm! Ottery St Mary Church is just around the corner, and is well worth a visit. There is usually somewhere to park outside the church, or in the roads leading to it, and we would recommend you park there and walk back to the Tea Shop.

This tea room isn't the type of tea room that would be particular family friendly and to be honest the scones weren't great. The staff were very helpful. It's run down and in need of some decorating. You're better off going to tickety boo which is a short walk away and serves delicious baked goods and is extremely family friendly.

We called in as it had been highly recommended and were not disappointed. The staff were charming and attentive and the ambience was old fashioned and welcoming. This is a proper old fashioned tea room with lovely home made cakes as well as a good breakfast and lunch menu. Prices are extremely reasonable. The rooms are small and intimate and full of character. There is also an eclectic mix of ornaments and local crafts for sale. There is also a table in one of the rooms where the local tourist information staff are located! We would highly recommend a visit.

While exploring the Devon countryside we stopped in Ottery St Mary and decided to find somewhere to have a cup of tea and a snack. A friendly cobbler, when asked, pointed us in the right direction for the Seasons Tea Rooms. The owners supplied us with very tasty sandwiches, and a good pot of tea for each of us. The table was set with white linen, pretty place mats, and nice China. We had a long chat with the owners as we called at a quiet time, but they told us that at certain times of the day it can be very busy, as the locals frequent it. Before leaving the town we called in Coles, and yet again met with very friendly people. Are they all like this in Ottery ? We will definitely pay a return visit as we wanted to visit the huge church, but it was closed, so maybe we will partake of a cream tea at Seasons next time. There was also some craft work, very pretty jewellery, and collectibles for sale.

Just a quick visit, for pots of tea and a tea cake, whilst passing through Ottery. Recommended by the newsagent next door. Served quickly, traditional crockery everything clean and nice and obviously liked by the locals we spoke to, one of whom told there there is also a tea garden at he rear favoured by those who have a dog with them. I visited there with my parents last earlier this week, it was not a planned visit but we wanted a cup of tea! The couple were very welcoming and engaged in conversation with us and both showed good humour. The atmosphere was relaxed (I know that it was quiet but they were within their rights to shut early!) and we were not rushed at all. I would def go back again to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The teas, latte and scones were lovely too!

Visited with my daughter this afternoon. We loved the décor and the way the tables were laid out. Just like stepping back into the good old days. This is how people should "lunch!" Wonderful hosts, who told us a bit of the history of the building and how they're hoping to reflect it and the street, in the future renovations. I will definitely be taken friends/family there, to impress them. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

It really is like stepping back in time when you enter this delightful litlle teashop in ottery St Mary. Yes, they have tablecoths and teapots, sugar tongs and attentive service. The owners are lovley people who are interested in giving good service to all their customers. You can tell it is good - it is full of locals! The rear courtyard garden, recently and lovingly restored, is a peaceful oasis of calm shade in the summer and a good place for intimate conversations or a good bit of gossip! (But not on the rare occasions that visiting bell-ringers come to try the bells on a Saturday morning!)It is good for single people as well as couples or groups and no one need feel out of place. Well worth a visit.

John and Myra provide an excellent atmosphere, with wholesome food, and a cheerful welcome. The cream teas are one of the better ones I have seen, my friend assures me tastes excellent too. The menu, while fairly basic, is well thought out.Gluten free meals and cakes are available, which is just as well for anyone like me who can't have gluten. They are always very accommodating and do their best to help. A good quality Tea Room. I will definitely eat there again.

Stepping through the door first impression is that you have passed through a time-warp to a 60's seaside tea shop. It has retained all the charm of these establishments like polite and friendly service in a relaxed comfortable environment but without the curled up sandwiches and wishy-washy coffee. Food is fresh with a good variety of traditional and more contemporary dishes while their cafetiere of traditional medium roast coffee is the best in Ottery or Honiton and generously sized. Oh - and the prices are very reasonable.

The whole place was very nice and cosy, me and my boyfriend have always wanted to try this place as we live near and read very good reviews about the place so we went there just this afternoon. The moment we came in, we were waiting by the door for a few minutes until the lady (I presume she's the owner of the place) came and asked us what we would like so I asked what is the soup of the day but she said they don't do soup on summer (rude, annoyed tone), okay fair enough (but it was on the menu) so my boyfriend asked if we could get a slice of cake and tea for 2 but then she rudely interrupted and said, "yes but where are you going to sit then.?", we were standing by the door because we thought she was going to give us a table or she could have at least ask where we would LIKE to sit. So we hurriedly looked for a table for 2 and as we walked pass her we noticed she looked at another customer and rolled her eyes, making fun of us. We felt extremely disrespected and also embarrassed, we didn't know how the place works as it was our first visit! So we managed to get a seat and the guy (her husband) was the one that served us the cake and tea and he was very lovely, smiling and happy old man so at least he was good. In the middle of eating another customers came in and the lady greeted them like how you're supposed to greet a customer, Hello good afternoon how are you, etc! I work in a hotel as a receptionist so I know exactly what's right or wrong and it's just plain common sense, treat everyone the same. Me and my boyfriend are both 19 and all the other customers are quite older than us so it might be that, that she doesn't care how she treated us but that was the worst experience i've had so far with cafe's or restaurants.

We came across the Seasons Tearoom and Gardens whilst visiting Ottery St Mary. A quick enquiry established we could take our Border Terrier into the gardens so we could have lunch. Originally wanting a cream tea which was very reasonably priced at £5 we both settled on a Ploughmans. Freshly made salad, huge chunks of cheese and obligatory pickled onions were washed down with a very pleasant cafetiere of coffee and hot milk. We were served by an extremely pleasant young man who offered a bowl of water for our dog as soon as we sat down. All in all a very pleasant experience!

Followed up with the best freshly cooked Blueberry Bakewell and cream. The staff were friendly and attentive. Thanks very much

I have responded to the experience questions despite a non visit. My message is based on the fact I was ultimately unable to enjoy the products from my online order, as I appear to be excluded from delivery listings due to the fact I live on a Scottish Island. Whilst understanding of the potential costs involved, perhaps the company could at least offer the option to the customer to cover such...something I would be only happy to oblige with....regardless of the amount David Wilkie Isle of Cumbrae Scotland 07488941692
