We visited this pub for a Sunday lunch it was very noisy music was far to loud . I had what was supposed to be roast pork but the meat was brown which still had string on it . Usually pork is white . Hence I didn't even touch it . Just had a plate of veg my husband ordered a lager top which normally is lager with a top of lemonade but his was done with blackcurrant instead . Definitely won't be returning couldn't wait to get out of there

Delicious Sunday roast with a choice of pork, lamb or beef. Lovely tender meat and perfectly cooked veggies. Would really recommend if you enjoy a roast. Not really a vegetarian option but could have a plate of the veggies with vegetarian gravy.

Booked a table for 3 for dinner. The pub is lovely inside, really cosy and oldy Worldy . Very busy, had lovely round table in the window. Ordered beef, lamb and Childrens roast. The owners are lovely, they are from Poland and England and are so friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous. It came with green beans, carrots, red cabbage, swede, Yorkshire, stuffing balls and tasty gravy. Potatoes very tasty, none of this pre cooked aunt Bessie rubbish. One of the best roasts we have had anywhere, highly recommend and we will definitely be returning,

This is possibly the worst pub in England at this time. We paid our first visit for 45 years with a great sense of expectation. We were greeted by an elderly woman of obvious foreign extraction who understood little English and in particular UK bar terminology. Having purchased two very expensive drinks we were handed a laminated bar snack menu and were told that 70% of the items listed were unavailable! We drank our drinks: and left the empty pub. We shall not return in 45 years time.

The menu bears no relation to the one advertised on the website, which showed some very tempting German dishes. Of the three draught beers on tap, one was off, a second ran out. Felt rushed by staff, who wanted a desert order at the same time as main. Sadly, would not recommend.

Visited for lunch. All three pump beers were cloudy and bar staff did not know how to clear them. Food average.

We were excited to see the pub/restaurant was open again. Decided to call in for lunch today and certainly we weren’t disappointed. There was a friendly greeting and it was fresh and clean. The menu was varied and something for everyone! My burger was delicious as was my husbands fish and chips. The portions good and freshly cooked. The toilets spotless and it’s dog friendly. We will certainly return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Such a beautiful village pub, family run by exceptionally lovely people, you instantly feel like you’re among friends. Highly experienced in catering for dietary requirements, if you’re vegan/dairy/gluten free you won’t need to settle for second best! Considering they seem so easy going, the food churned out of the kitchen is absolutely top notch. They listen to what the customer wants and work to deliver exactly that. Definitely worth a visit wether you’re local or just passing through.

We stopped here by chance for lunch. A few locals in the bar, really warm welcome. Asked if lunch was available, there was roast beef, turkey or a nut roast. We both asked for beef. Found a table near the roaring wood burner and our meals were with us in no time. A huge plate of food; giant Yorkshire filled with three different vegetables plenty of tender beef and roast potatoes. Neither of us could finish there was so much! But, it was all delicious, and very well priced. The pub is clean and quirky. The sort of place I’d love as my local! Definitely recommend.

We wanted to visit this pub as it had been closed for some time and the local residents wanted to reopen it and as they say if you dont use it you lose it. We wernt disappointed. They offer set meals and event nights and specials. When we arrived we had a nice welcome and found a seat in the window of a small eating area. It was a rough night and it was nice to be close to the wood burner. The pub was quite busy given that it is quite isolated. We tried the curry, Lamb Bhuna and Chicken Tikka Masala with a few side bites, bharji, nann, samosa etc. All were really tasty and filled a gap. The beer was really nice too, obviously well kept. My only criticism would be the website which is of no use to the potential visitor. It is your shop window and every effort should be made to make it attractive and regularly updated Overall, well worth a visit and if you are local, worth visiting regularly!

Excellent hosted and a simple 3 choice menu. 2 meat dishes and 1 vegetarian. Sometimes quality over a large choice is better. We had a great beef curry with a locally produced cider and bitter. Lovely friendly atmosphere.

Recently visited with family for coffee. The service was great and coffee good but the cafe was so cold we sat and shivered! We witnessed other people coming in, then leaving as it was so cold. It needs to be warmed up with the Winter season here otherwise custom will be lost.

Gingerbread house cafe is a lovely local coffee/breakfast/lunch spot on the high st, just up from the beach. I recently ordered a cream tea for two box to be delivered to my mother for her birthday as I live far away. She loved it, it was fresh and delicious and included sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and all the fixings, and she couldn’t have been happier to be surprised on her birthday with a friendly face and a special delivery. They are also very active in the community and offered free lunches for school kids during Covid. A great cafe!
