An attractive venue with terrace on a wonderful waterfront location. Waterfront is often best avoided whilst a short menu is often for the best. Despite the location the food and service was excellent with the short menu matching the high expectations. Choose from the menu when reserving to avoid waste and help the restaurant manage suppliers. Excellent idea. If you can, grab one of the high tables for two in the window to enjoy the view. Perfectly cooked melt in the mouth mussels, plump and moist, in a delicious creamy and garlicky sauce. Spot on fisn 'n' chips. Friendly and engaging owner. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Super amazing service today. We came here as we love this place and have been a couple of times before when visiting Sidmouth. The man who served us (possibly the owner?) was so kind and attentive. I was given a complimentary top up on my drink and he kindly gave us a delicious starter on the house. The fish/seafood was of course fresh and plentiful. I’d happily be eating here more if I lived here. Can’t wait to come and try the lobster.

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner. The food was faultless, portion sizes were generous and the view is great. Been here a good few times and food never disappoints. Is it expensive when it’s consistently so tasty? I like the basic decor. You can’t fault the location. Staff typically young and hard to fault. El Jefe well… My wife’s feeling is he’s very dry and so funny? I think he’s entertainingly grumpy and skilfully rude. He’s the cabaret maybe? It’s all a part of what has been in the round a positive experience throughout many visits. Okay post COVID stuff like deposits irksome but navigable but this preorder email nonsense clearly for his benefit alone and given all of the many people I’ve taken there over time all want to gather for a belated 60th I just can’t face the logistics here.

Restaurants like this are few and far between. You need to book and order in advance so you are served the freshest products and it is well worth it! I love a tight menu, four or five choices per course. We chose squid, anchovies, charcuterie plate and sourdough to share. Each taste just delightful but the best was yet to come. A whole Brill, perfectly cooked in butter and capers to share. We both said that was the best fish we had eaten since a special night in Verona many years ago. Top class. Enchanted by the quality we ate sweets, divine Creme brûlée and super tasty lemon posset. Quite superb. Thank you.

The restaurant wants to be seen as high quality and in many aspects it delivers but the staff seem nervous and the owner doesn’t facilitate your enjoyment…it’s more a case of he allows you to come to his restaurant. The Pea Green Boat is a wonderful beacon in the town of Sidmouth. Sidmouth has little to offer other than a plethora of Charity shops and super heated and expensive hotels catering for very ancient people. The Pea Green Boat is entirely different being a quite wonderful French owned restaurant. The seafood here is sensational - fresh off the Brixham trawlers and then cooked so simply with just nuances of flavour such as lightly given capers on our wonderful huge Brill. Absolutely fantastic in every respect. OK so it is not cheap but the best never is and mid priced mediocrity should be avoided. I will certainly return

We took a long weekend down to Sidmouth from Brighton on the recommendation from a dear friend. He insisted we ate at The Pea Green Boat on the seafront, which we did. The Pea Green Boat is all about QUALITY. No frills or gimmicks, just amazingly fresh food, cooked with passion and served ( on this occasion by Chris, the owner). We opted for fresh calimari as a starter. A fav of ours, this was as fresh as fresh can be, fried in the lightest of batter and served with pickled veg and homemade aoli. Next, the mussels. I have run and owned 2 restaurants kn the past, one being a dedicated fish restaurant. Never, have i experienced mussels like these. Absolutely sublime, plump melt in the mouth meat. And the broth was to die for!! Wine, cream, onions and the all important provencal herbs steamed with the shellfish. Served with sourdough bread, it was, the BEST bowl of mussels i have ever eaten. Washed down with some fine Chardonnay and some very good alcohol free beer, we were completely satisfied. A quick chat with the owner Chris demonstrated his pride and passion in his industry. He takes time to source only the best quality foodstuffs and has a simple uncomplicated mantra. This IS food at its best and i highly recommend that you pay a visit to this eaterie. For me, next time, and it will be soon, will be the whole grilled Brill to share, or, The cote de boeuf. Im salivating already. Keep doing what you are doing Chris. Its brilliant!!

A huge terrine of juicy plum morcels in wine ,cream and provencal herbs, served with sourdough bread and perfectly cooked golden.Never, ever have i experienced such sweet, tender meats in my life, i was in heaven. ( locally sourced by Chris, i later learned.) The restaurant is cosy but efficiently run by Chris and his team. A joy to visit and a pleasure to eat there. Ensure you book. The PGB is small and modern but so low minimal/low key that it's easy to walk past and miss completely, as we did several times! But inside we found it bright and pleasant, a nice atmosphere with very low key jazzy music at a perfect low volume. The waiter was very relaxed and friendly, making for a very pleasant experience Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious, my wife had main course mussels and I had scallops which were divine. The sea food is so fresh, you can see the fishing boats on the beach in nearby Beer. We shared a state-of-the-art crème brulé for dessert. Now for the negative part and for this we accept that the Salcombe effect has inflated local prices to central London rates. Our bill was £93.00 and that is without a bottle of wine which, being mostly £50 plus we opted out of. Instead my wife had a coffee (excellent) and a cider. For £6.00 she expected a glass full but it turned up as a tiny portion in a wine glass. Why - we have no idea? For a similar price I ordered a Salcombe pale ale expecting a pint or equivalent bottle and was presented with a small can which the waiter had already opened, otherwise I would have sent it back. OK the menu small print does state it is 330ml but I never thought to translate that into can size, after all I can't remember ever being offered a small can of beer in a restaurant. I see some similar comments in other reviews and perhaps the menu should be more explanatory. We also had a glass of wine each and myself a dessert wine (very nice). Despite the negatives and the eye watering bill the PGB is still 5 stars for us because it was high quality food and I really don't mind paying a premium for such an enjoyable meal. For lunch in town I had paid £15.00 for a soggy, tasteless sandwich, now that really was poor value, but that's another story.

The fish is superb, the River Fowey mussels were like butter, they literally melted in the mouth! The Lyme Bay scallops were delicious. The roasted cod with samphire on a bed of salsa verde with French fries (different but worked really well) was wonderful. The hake was in a beautifully light tempura batter. A memorable meal, with great service and good wine. We had the Italian Polpo, a dry white with a crisp finish.

I really enjoyed finding this spot that is rare for Sidmouth: classy, beautiful ingredients, forward thinking staff, the BEST Muscadet and I loved my Calabrian Anchovies and Mussels. I finished with an affogato and asked for a drizzle of chocolate sauce 😊. It’s nice to find somewhere a bit shabby-seafood-chic and I had confidence it would be a good experience from the wine list and sample menu on the website. I’m a local girl who lives away and I am glad the Pea Green Boat exists. If only more initiatives would follow suit. It’s a very St Ives type vibe. Thank you 😊❤️

Visited on a Friday night having booked in advance. The restaurant looks appealing on the outside but inside it is very plain and simple with barely any decoration and a rather stark appearance. The two members of staff did a good job and greeted us warmly and worked efficiently and our two starters ( scallops and calamari) were great but it all went downhill with the mains. We both opted for mussels hoping for treat but although the mussels themselves were large and meaty the liquor seemed to be just cream and made the whole meal tasteless and disappointing. The quality of the liquor makes or breaks a bowl of mussels and sadly this recipe broke it which was unfortunate because it’s not difficult to make a great tasting sauce.

Really disappointing. We were a party of 4. The sharing fish was delicious, the steak was fine, the cod was tough. It actually squeaked when I bit it. The staff handled the complaint professionally and a fresh one was cooked. Obviously the rest of the party had almost finished when it arrived. The replacement meal was not great and I cannot recommend it. In a reputable restaurant an apology would have been reflected in the bill. It was not. We had to ask and we were told the best we could do was negotiate a discount with the owner by phone the next day. Not professionally handled. It’s a small restaurant and it felt awkward and embarrassing for everyone. I’m not in the habit of complaining and am not a fussy eater but as a domestic cook I know cod is not supposed to be tough. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

I was told we don’t take bookings, but I told him of the £30 taken from my account to book, he then waved me in and told showed me my table with 2 seats on one side. Asking if I could move a seat so that my husband and I could be facing each other I was asked “why, are you having a business meeting?”, no offer of help to move the chair. I felt like a real inconvenience. I have never had such an awful, rude greeting by someone who made to feel so small. I would not have stayed had I not paid a £30 deposit. Lovely seafood in Sidmouth. Had the whole breem between two of us and it was amazing. Often restaurants on the seafront are to be avoided but this one is a must!

The food here is exceptional! The best calamari I've ever had. The location is perfect over looking the seafront, and on a sunny day the alfresco dining is extra special.

Excellent food and fantastic views. However they need staff that are happy and welcoming. The person serving us was not a happy person and wore a baseball cap all evening - he did not make you welcome and comfortable. However all the food was excellent.

Visited with my partner and we both said it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. A small intimate restaurant with an owner who is clearly passionate about food and good wine. Great meal, great service and a great night.

Fantastic food on the second time of visiting. We both had the calamari and shared the cote de boeuf, which was cooked perfectly. Best food in Sidmouth in my opinion, but you definitely pay a premium - expensive London prices, but worth it.

We visited the The Pea Green Boat a few weeks ago and had a wonderful evening. The setting is beautiful and it was the highlight of our weekend trip to Sidmouth. We had the scallops and calamari to start and shared the whole Brill which was beautifully cooked and delicious. The creme brûlée and brandy were a wonderful way to finish the meal. What really made our evening was the host though, Chris is hilarious and very interesting to talk to, we didn’t want to leave! The Pea Green Boat and Chris are top of the list for our next visit.

This was our first visit to The Farm Table and it won't be the last, from the moment we were seated until leaving, the service was superb, a special shout out goes to Cal and his young counterpart (Sorry didn't get his name) for doing such a great job, both a credit to the team. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed all 3 courses with a lovely bottle of wine. It's a lovely atmosphere at certainly a venue to dress up smart and enjoy the evening. Extra effort made for birthday, even to attention to notes on booking and washing my partner happy birthday as shown to the table.

In summary the pizzas are absolutely fantastic!! We had a margarita, garlic bread+mozzarella and Hawaiian. All of which were delicious The website is easy to use and the delivery quick as we received the pizza pretty much within the hour as requested. I thought I’d note the different bases as I asked this…the artisan is hand pulled and the other is machine rolled. The machined rolled can fit more toppings but either option has that hand made/delicious taste All in all definitely buy from here!!!
