Came here for a cream tea because of the great reviews. Would have been a 5 star but a few things ruined it for us. We waited to be seated but were ignored for about 5 minutes without any acknowledgment Got a table but when we asked for a spare tea cup for my daughter to have some of the tea from the pot we were sharing got a funny look and then we went to pay the bill they’ve charged an extra 50p which I thought was a bit ridiculous as we were spending £15 I don’t think we should have to be paying to use a china cup, we didn’t ask for more tea or scones! Just found it a bit petty and ruined what was a lovely cream tea,

Sadly for me and for the Sidmouth vibe G&O has closed with no re-opening date available. Sad loss. Hope it comes back. Had a great evening here with excellent food and wine. The decor is clever and brings the vast, high ceiling of the old Post Office down into the bar. Recently under new ownership the bar delivers really good food that compliments the excellent choice of wines. Live music will become a staple of the bar, especially jazz and it is very well worth a visit for either a great wine or an interesting meal. Griff and Simone, the new owners, are warm and hospitable and took time to chat and share their vision for G&O. All the very best.

Ate here for the first time today, I had the beef soup and my husband the lasagna. The service was great, really friendly and welcoming. The food is not overly fancy, just good honest homely food, done very well. The soup was a hearty serving packed with veg and big chunks of stewed beef, full of flavour and very filling. Lasagna is one of those dishes of which you can find mediocre versions on any pub menu, but this was something else. Proper, home-cooked, delicious. This is the kind of thing all cafes should aspire to: a simple menu but delivered perfectly. Loved it.

Visited on busy day but got table easily. Excellent staff and good menu. Decided to be bold and ordered conger eel. Hmm. At least I can say I tried it but not for me - meal was excellent on whole and partner enjoyed Egyptian beans. Big portions and v tasty smoothies, lovely place and a new “go to”…

It looks more like a 'caff' than a seafood restaurant but don't let that fool you - the menu is packed with fish and seafood and it's excellent.

Cosy house but a little too cosy as the ceilings are very low. Room was clean and comfortable but really small . We could nt pass each other with ease. Had a great sleep though the room was facing the busy road . Quite sound proof. The house may not suit someone with mobility or gait issues as its so old ( traditional) the floors are quite uneven and the stairs could be difficult to climb. Caution needed . Breakfast is so so. Coffee was nice . A better quality bread would be good. Garden is beautiful .
