Always welcoming and a favourite café when visiting Sidmouth. Excellent coffees and hearty soup of the day. Generous bowl full. Bright and big windows on a corner position for people watching. Dailly newspapers. Doggy friendly. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Looking for somewhere to have breakfast while the car was being repaired and found the Courtyard online. It was a 20 minute walk away but well worth it. A really friendly cafe with friendly staff and very good service and food at a very reasonable price. I would definitely come back if I am. In the area again and will certainly recommend to friends and family.

Sadly for me and for the Sidmouth vibe G&O has closed with no re-opening date available. Sad loss. Hope it comes back. Had a great evening here with excellent food and wine. The decor is clever and brings the vast, high ceiling of the old Post Office down into the bar. Recently under new ownership the bar delivers really good food that compliments the excellent choice of wines. Live music will become a staple of the bar, especially jazz and it is very well worth a visit for either a great wine or an interesting meal. Griff and Simone, the new owners, are warm and hospitable and took time to chat and share their vision for G&O. All the very best.

Probably the best Fish restaurant in Sidmouth. The moment we entered the restaurant and received a warm welcome from the front of house staff we knew we were in for a treat. From the starters through to the excellent main courses (Whole Plaice and Fillet of Hake) the food was sublime. The quality of Neils food preparation and cooking was sublime. I met Neil afterwards to thank him in person for the high quality evening he and his staff provided.

I booked this hotel for our 10 year wedding anniversary as a 2 night stay away without the children as a treat. From arrival to departure, Dan and Megan couldn’t have been better hosts. Very welcoming and made the stay extra special with their friendly banter. The room was very spacious and the bed was huge and so comfortable! The whole hotel is spotless and the garden is beautiful. I enjoyed watching the chickens and CoCo their dog having fun in the garden from our window. We ate in the restaurant on our first night, had breakfast both mornings and used the honesty bar. The food was perfectly cooked and very well presented. I’ve never used an honesty bar before but it was not a problem and actually quite a novelty to be bar lady for the evening! The hotel has an easy access car park and is a perfect distance of a 5-10 min walk to the beach and shops. We will definitely be returning and so pleased to have come across this lovely hotel. Thank you for such a lovely stay. :-)

Upon our arrival at The Bedford, having reserved a table for a Wednesday lunch, we noticed the restaurant was quite empty. The festive ambiance, considering the time of year, was minimal, limited to a lone Christmas tree. Our orders were promptly taken, and the food arrived within an acceptable time frame. While the portion of fish and chips (£15 at the time of writing ) was generous, the cod lacked the expected flakiness, suggesting it might have been frozen and defrosted, resulting in a somewhat flavorless experience. The smoked haddock risotto, described as having a cheese glaze, arrived with normal long-grain/basmati rice submerged under a thick layer of cheese, exhibiting an unpleasant texture and taste. Although the hostess inquired about our meals, she left before we could provide comprehensive feedback. No other patrons arrived during our visit, and, regrettably, we don't plan to return in the near future

All I can say is that this place is a hidden gem! Ordered an achari gohst (meat in pickled spices) and 4 chapattis. The lad behind the counter was very polite and hospitable, even though we came a few minutes before closing! The curry was not dripping with oil, which was fantastic. It was packed full of flavour. The quality of the meat itself was excellent, and it was very succulent, as it was cooked to perfection, and unlike some restaurants, there were more than enough pieces of it. The chapattis were enormous. Pricewise, I'd say it's reasonable, considering the prices of utilities and meat. Grand total of £19.30. It's hard to find a good curry house nowadays. it's all kebabs and burgers! I will definitely be eating from there again as it's good to support your local curry house, especially when the food is spot on!!
