Good selection of flavours of excellent gelato, very reasonable prices & massive portions. My granddaughter was amazed that the ferrero rocher flavour was so accurate, best ice cream ever, in her opinion

Best ice cream in the country, friendly staff who chat every time that i am in and great coffee, also very good rock cakes to go with the coffee.

This is what I love to see, a small, independent family business. You can see how much care and love goes into the products- from the delicious hot chocolate to the ice cream. The staff are welcoming and friendly. And the hot drinks, food and ice cream were all delicious. Can't fault this place!

Wow. Always come to taste when visiting mum in Sidmouth. Normally queuing half a mile down the street in summer so we have learnt to go early. Who says you can’t have ice cream for breakfast? And this is no ordinary ice cream. So popping down last weekend we popped in for the obligatory “taste”. The nice lady said I could try the award winning Pear and Ricotta which I wanted to try but wasn’t sure. It was absolutely amazing so I had a large sugar cone with that flavour. In fact it was so nice, we came back the next day and I took a tub away to eat at Mums. Highly recommend. See you in the new year.

I am so disappointed, we have visited this parlour for years and have always been totally satisfied. Today however, I was shocked at the sheer lack of customer service and blatant disregard for allergy compliance. I asked the assistant for my Son’s ice-cream choices. I stopped her after she put the wrong ice cream on. She then went to the bin and scraped part of it off. She then went to correct the order and select the new ice cream. My son then said it still has the wrong ice cream on. She then proceeded to get a spoon and scrape more off!. We use this shop regularly both winter and summer, not any more. I am so disappointed at her attitude towards my Son. We all make mistakes, thats fine and we all have bad days. But to be rude and disrespectful, is not on. Furthermore, i would hate to think my son had an allergy if this is what happens. Cross contamination could potentially kill someone, think on!

The chocolate, mint, vanilla and strawberry ice creams are delicious and huge portions! Pasties are also realy nice and the pastry so light and crumbly. Always Happy friendly staff.

My wife and I have been coming here since 2014. Back then we were just two. Now we have three children and we all love the ice cream from Taste. Don’t bother with the other places. This is the best.

If you love ice cream then this is the place to go; they also do other food an drinks, but the ice cream is doubledelicious !

Just such lovely ice-cream. I tried a scoop of peach crumble and a scoop of biscoff. It was sooo good. The young male server was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend

As always the lce cream is fantastic been going for years taking children and grandchildren now sadly price going up but that can't be helped but even my grandchildren have noticed your getting less aswell let's be fare we expect price going up but reduce the portions aswell bit unfair 🙄

The clotted cream ice cream is an amazing treat and nothing beats Devon cream in an ice cream.

Brilliant ice cream and sorbets and friendly service. Ques at times but worth the wait. recommend the mango and chocolate ice creams generous portions and lots of variety to choose from.

Taste serves fresh cakes, pastries but also gelato, home made on the premises. A good size serving and a wide variety of flavours, though personally I would have preferred pieces of fruit in my black cherry. All the gelato are smooth. A popular store so be prepared to queue, especially if the weather is warm

Owner was lovely and I saw her catch a £1 charge error and she insisted she refund the customer. (Good to find honest hard working people!) We always come here for ice cream when on holiday in Sidmouth. The staff are friendly and helpful and the ice cream is divine. Today’s choice was clotted cream and it didn’t disappoint.

It's my go to after walking through the Byes and the esplanade. The usual, I'd say: a salted caramel scoop on a small waffle cone. Never fails to complete my day downtown. Yumm..

Still remains THE go-to ice cream shop in Sidmouth. And rightly so. The ice cream is delicious. Not so delicious is the cost these days, however. At £4.95 for a small, 'double-scoop' cup (or cone) doesn't really feel like value for money. And other than a 1.2 litre tub, that's the largest you can buy (they used to sell a three-scoop tub). I accept prices have to go up, but this feels steep, especially when you consider the massive price disparity between a double-scoop cup and a 1.2 litre tub. So yes, remains a place to visit, and the quality remains high. But not all that it used to be.

Yummy ice cream! Some unusual flavours too, I tried lavender and white choc and was delicious! The biscoff and unicorn flavours were great too!

Nice cafe. Lovely coffee. Very nice bacon roll. Table blocking by people dragging out a cup of tea a bit annoying. But worth calling back later. The staff are really nice. It's going to be our go to place if we can get a table.

I know everyone has already said it but this really is the best ice cream ever. All made on site, so tasty and always a massive scoop (even crammed into a single tub). Also the idiot who knocked your bacon rolls clearly got confused with a different vendor. We've tried you rolls on several occasions and they are tasty and very good value at £3.

I really can't fault the icecreams, so many flavours and large portions and they are always so busy. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped here this morning for a quick £3.60 bacon roll and was extremely disappointed to be handed a large bap with a solitary rasher of bacon inside. Just felt like I was eating a dry roll. Should have complained at the time in hindsight but certainly won't be going there again.

This was always our favourite ice cream shop when the children were growing up with huge portions of tasty homemade ice cream. We stopped going for a while when 2 of us became vegan but when we saw they had started serving vegan flavours we went back. The taste, quality and size were just as we remembered and with a variety of flavours to choose from. What a treat.

Visiting Sidmouth for the first time and went in to TASTE to have an ice-cream. These were absolutely delicious - perhaps the best I have tasted. The young lass who served us appeared to be grumpy - perhaps at the end of a long shift? The unfriendliness did not affect the enjoyment of the treat, however.

Recommended to have ice cream here and it was so worthwhile. Lovely flavour and well filled cone. Would definitely go back!

Tried the new Whisky flavoured ice cream today. It was very creamy with a subtle Whisky flavour and was absolutely delicious.

Taste of Sidmouth is the best ice cream I've ever had! It would not be a complete holiday without it. There is a wide variety of cones and flavours. My personal favourite is chocolate, which is the creamiest I've ever tasted, and my sister's is Ferrero Rocher. The scoops are massive!

Amazing! So many choices of flavours and all are lovely. Kind staff and big scoops of all flavours they also have lots of things apart from ice cream.

Mouth-watering presentation, fabulous range, great queuing system. Vegan biscoff worth the gurgly tummy after (am gluten-intolerant but they did warn me), chocolate and mint-choc chip almost as fine. Superb value: one scoop piled so high, one about lunchtime saw me on 'til dinnertime...

I had Pear and Ricotta ice cream today which was very runny. As soon as I had eaten it I had a upset tummy. None of the other flavours looked runny so not sure why that one was?

Had several ice creams from here while on holiday in Sidmouth. All were excellent and the quantities were great value for money. So much better than the typical mass produced ice cream you get at the sea side.

Difficult to know what fabulous tasting ice cream to choose I settled for the Frerra Roche and my wife had the salted caramel Both were so yummy.

Having walked from Seaton and arrived at closing time, we were too late for ice-cream but were offered cakes that, after climbing the Sidmouth hill, tasted absolutely heavenly. Thank you x

OMG I love this place so much. Sidmouth is a wonderful seaside town just down the road from where we live; Exeter. We regularly attend the taste cafe as I am a coeliac on a gluten free diet. I can eat sausage rolls, pasties, cakes...

Truly the best ice cream I have ever had and I grew up in Cornwall! Strawberry was my choice and it was gorgeous. Son had black cherry and said it was lovely - that means amazing in teen language!

I absolutely love this place. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, even during its (constant) busy periods. After a nice walk along the Byes, this is the first place I come to to pick up a delicious Salted Caramel Ice Cream to take to the seafront.It really is a delightful place and I recommend it to anybody who visits Sidmouth

We popped in for a sausage and bacon bap, it was honestly the worst bacon I have ever had, it wasn’t even cooked, nothing like the pictures on display, it looked like it was boiled in water.The sausages were obviously from the day before and heated up in a microwave, they had the consistency of rubber, very chewy.The bap was way too thick and just crumbled when eaten.Never again, much nicer places in Sidmouth than here for a bacon roll.

Lovely consistency! Very delicious. Would try a different flavour as the salted caramel was not salty enough, but that’s personal taste. Very busy which shows you it is a good place. Would come back again.

This is quite simply the best ice-cream I have ever tasted outside Sicily and the equal of any there. It really does taste of the ingredients. Seems an obvious point but it often isn't true. Texture, quality, variety are all top-notch. What a pity it isn't more widely available...... but what a good reason to visit Sidmouth.

We got ice creams at the end of a 13mile walk and we were so happy we chose this place! I had biscoff with a waffle cone and the scoop was massive and the ice cream itself was creamy and delicious. The staff were very friendly and let me sample a couple flavours in order to help me make a decision. My sister's a vegan and they had a sorbet option so she was also happy. Would definitely recommend!

Between our group of 5 we had quite a few different flavours.My first one was a Rum & Raisin which was full of flavour and taste, best was to describe it is very creamy and very moreish. Rum and Raisin can be quite plasticky in taste but not this one. Rating 10/10My next one was a Blueberry, I don't want to bore you too much but yet again it was creamy and full of flavour. Rating 10/10I would advise you to get a ice cream from another establishment first and the next one from here and you will not go back to the 1st one for your 3rd one I am quite sure.Son also had a pasty which he said was great.All the ice cream is made on the premises and travels well to the front counter.Staff were lovely also..Well done Taste.

Totally out of this world ice cream. So many unusual flavours. Seems expensive but you get loads for your money. A definite must visit place if in or near sidmouth. Great Covid space and measures in place. Can’t wait to go back and try more flavours eg Nutella, Caribbean rum and raisin, mint, honey comb, mango the list is endless. They also sell sandwiches, pasties and cakes.

Delicious ice cream for a bit less than other places locally. The steak and ale pasties are also amazing!

Fabulous Ice cream and great value for money. Just recommend that you make it easier for people to queue post COVID. Lots of A frames boards outside and you have to queue into the street which means you block the pavement and people trying to get past you whilst queuing.

Taste is 100% THE place to go for an ice cream in Sidmouth. They have a huge amount of choice and it always tastes amazing. The service is very good and they have really effective measures in place with social distancing.

This ice cream has legendary status locally. Made on site in a range of prize winning flavours. Generous portions offered in a range of cone sizes. Situated in the market square just a few minutes from the beach, you really wouldn't want to go anywhere else for ice cream. Check out the black cherry, nutella, mint choc chip, strawberry etc etc. I could go on.......

After a long morning walk , and in need of refreshments we were tempted by the sign advertising sausage / bacon rolls. After paying and looking forward to my roll, I was so disappointed. The sausage must have been cooked some time before, and the roll was wrapped in foil and kept warm in the hot cabinet. It was really not good, will certainly give it a miss in future.

As a local to Sidmouth we have been to taste lots of times as we love the ice cream! However, today we were given tiny portions to what we have received before and then staff stood behind the counter openly talking about us and staring at us whilst my husband, my two young children and myself ate our ice cream. I felt so uncomfortable and upset by the experience and will be telling friends about this. What a shame that the staff feel that it is ok to behave like this towards customers especially locals who visit regularly.
