Been for breakfast and although the staff are very friendly and helpful we didn’t rate the food, we were the first people there and I really feel they the sausages had been warmed up from the day before because they were hard to cut and not nice to eat, luckily for us the dog ate them, the beans and tomatoes were not hot enough. Quite pricey £15 for a breakfast plus extra for a cup of tea. Will we go back !! Possible not for breakfast

Came across café by accident, then came back for lunch. One week later we returned with our family, again for lunch. Wonderful fresh food, and great atmosphere inside the café. Lovely views across the countryside for seasonal outdoor dining too! Good little shop selling quality farm produce (tasty sourdough bread) and a selection of simple gifts, plus the enamel "crockery" used in the café. Looking forward to our next visit!

Myself, wife and son have been here a few times for breakfast which we have always loved. Today however we decided to pop in for a Sunday lunch. We all had roast lamb which I would say was one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. It had a very home cooked feel to it with properly roasted carrots, amazing cauliflower cheese and all the other trimmings expected. The prices were not over the top compared to a lot of other local establishments. I’d highly recommend cold harbour for anyone that loves proper local quality food.

I visited this cafe this morning on a Sunday with my 3 year old. It was in a nice little quiet spot of Ottery St Mary overlooking fields and hills. It has a very nice atmosphere and the staff were all friendly and polite, it was a pleasant place to get a morning breakfast. I can't really fault the venue other than I felt the breakfasts were a little expensive (£15 for a normal fry up and £12 for a small.) But I guess the price comes with it's beauty. We didn't have to wait long for the food and they were proper thick sausages, so I can't complain really. Think this will be a place I visit with my daughter as a treat every now and then!

The service was very poor. The food was of poor quality with wilted lettuce to name a few faults on a rubbish salad. The bacon was over cooked and tough to eat. The Nachos seemed stale. It’s a pity as we can see the cafe from our house. Won’t be going again.

We were walk-ins and were greeted warmly and given a decent table outside, for a 9am breakfast. I had the large fry up with extra mushrooms and no toast. A decent plate of food overall. All was good but nothing really stood out. My partner had bubble and squeak with an egg. Lots of it! Was tasty but again not wow. The waiters were happy and attentive Definitely a good place for a no nonsense breakfast with a view

I was recommended by a friend so phoned around midday to enquire about eating and was told they closed the kitchen at 4pm. It was a nice sunny day so took a leisurely drive from Exeter arriving at 3.30pm only to be told by the proprietor that the kitchen closed at 3pm. I mentioned that I phoned earlier and was told the kitchen closed at 4pm but she apologised for my disappointment but was unmoved. It is a shame as I was quite hungry and the menu although not cheap was local and was told was good. I explained to the proprietor that her opening tines were confusing to customers but I personally think since the place was empty they closed early. Beware before you travel and make sure you book! Hopefully my review next time will be more positive.

Delightful little farm shop but the shop assistant was so rude!! We visited yesterday 26/5/24. My family have tattoos all except my elderly mother. Really delicious breakfast here, when we eventually found it. Lady in the shop was a bit rude when telling us we were walking the wrong way shouting "no no" at us rather than politely getting our attention and directing us the right way. Thankfully the breakfast and the staff in the Field Kitchen were much nicer. Food and coffee came in good time, with a tasty fried egg with a runny yolk to dip my toast in. Delicious! Yesterday, 1st June 2023, husband, myself and dear friend Ann had booked lunch at the Field Kitchen cafe at Cold Harbour Farm, Ottery St Mary, Devon. It’s about a short hour’s drive from our home near Newton Abbot. As the day was warm and sunny we chose to sit at a table out on their terrace that overlooked the beautiful Devon rolling countryside. We each chose different dishes from the deliciously sounding lunch menu. I had the fish one, husband had the chicken special of the day and Ann had the shredded beef bap. Each dish was well served and tasted as delicious as the menu had sounded. We followed that with a warmed Brownie served with vanilla pod ice-cream and clotted cream. Scrumptious. Afterwards, when we left to get in the car to drive back to Newton Abbot, our car failed to start. Neither key worked (mine or husband’s) and we faced a frustrating half hour or more trying but failing to make contact with roadside assistance. We were rescued by one of the cafe staff who saw our plight in their car park. She kindly organised one of their staff, who worked on the farm itself, to bring jump leads and a car driven close to ours. Whilst husband and cafe staff faffed about with connecting leads to the batteries of both cars etc, Ann and I quickly escaped back to the Kitchen cafe terrace to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea. We three were then more than delighted that the car problem had been solved by the extremely helpful staff, their jump leads and their car’s battery. We then happily drove home promising to return later this summer. The whole day was exceptional, especially made by the Cold Harbour Field Kitchen food, staff, clear blue skies, sunshine and the beauty of Devon’s countryside. A happy, memorable day out. We all heartily recommend Cold Harbour Farm Field Kitchen for lunch, to anyone. We fully intend next time, after our lunch, to include a visit to their Farm Shop that lies a short 100 yards up the lane. Wonderful staff who went above and beyond providing delicious food, to then help us resolve our failed car problems with no hesitation whatsoever. Many thanks from Jackie Starkie, my husband Roger and our friend Ann.

A decent breakfast, I had the veggie and husband had the full, he was offered an extra item to replace one he didn’t want. Seemed to be good quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and the view was great when standing up…not so good sitting down as it’s blocked with corrugated iron. It was popular and filled up quickly so get there early,….hopefully they will put some sun brollies up as it was very sunny and I wouldn’t want to be there later in the day. Coffee was pretty weak (for me)…and I was given a tube of sweeteners which definitely needed a sanitise . Overall it was pretty good but very expensive…I just cannot justify nearly £34 for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees

We visited on a Sunday at 12.15 hoping for lunch. Breakfasts (until 11.30) and specials were advertised on a board outside but after waiting for a few minutes to be seated in a fairly quiet cafe we were given only a breakfast menu. The waitress explained that the breakfast menu was actually available all day but that there were no specials. As we'd had a cooked breakfast earlier we decided we would just have coffee and cheese scones but sadly there weren't any so we asked if the plain scones on display were freshly baked. After being told that they weren't we decided to leave. The cafe itself is quirky and nicely positioned with fantastic views from the large patio but inside the assorted stools and chairs brought back memories of junior school. Judging by other reviews it seems we might have been unlucky.

Very disappointed, turned up for breakfast nice and early this morning and as there was only one table with people at we thought it would be nice and easy to get breakfast. Out order was taken quickly and drinks served in good time, shame the same can't be said for our food. We were surprised when two tables received theirs before us and therefore asked if there was an issue and were assured ours was next, sadly that wasn't the case. Eventually received food after a 50 minute wait and then my wife's was cold which although they replaced shouldn't of happened. Absolutely brilliant reception from the man behind the bar, very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, two men at the bar very friendly. Nice selection of real ale in the barrels behind the bar. Good all day brunch menu. The food we had was really nice, hot, freshly cooked. Staff checked that everything was ok. Nice open fire in bar area. Clean toilets, but upstairs only, I think there are plans for toilet on ground floor. Really enjoyed our visit. Will definitely visit again, without the car, so that I can sample more of the splendid beer !

The team here attended a property we had hired for the weekend for my 40th Birthday. We pre ordered and the menu was so hard to choose from. The service and food were exceptional and we want to thank you all for making our evening so special. We are still wanting the secret sauce recipe!!! Thank you again it was truly fabulous

We couldn't fault the amazing roast turkey we had for lunch last weekend. There is such a lovely relaxed atmosphere in this cosy pub. A real treat.
