Fabulous food in a really lovely garden setting. We had the seafood platter and the ploughman’s which sadly left no room for dessert!!! Very reasonably priced too

We had an excellent cold buffet in the owner's garden. Surrounded by lots of flowering shrubs, our setting on a warm summer's day could not have been more perfect. And the scones were as good as I've had anywhere!

This place is as good as the reviews suggest. Very welcoming and friendly owner. Beautiful gardens away from the busyness of the town but a few minutes walking from the town. Prices are very reasonable. Food was amazing and home made. Cakes are superb too. Never had a Licky Frizzle! But would definitely have one again. The scones were delicious as was the Bakewell tart. All washed down with a beer. Would highly recommend this place & return. Great to sit outside in the garden with your dog.

An absolute hidden gem. We found this tea garden after walking through the Byes...having been to Sidmouth for years and years never knew it was there(although I think it's only been open 7 years or so) . If you want a typical quintessential English tea this is the place! Stunningly beautiful garden and a very welcoming host. I had the Hummingbird cake...delicious! Will definitely be back for lunch too, and everything very reasonably priced. A great find!

What a beautiful spot!! With the Immaculate gardens you couldn't wish for a nicer spot for a cream tea. The cream tea was amazing with a nice generous amount of cream which is always a bonus. Prices were very reasonable and though we didn't eat from the savory menu, there was a good choice of items. Richard the owner was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely return.

This is without doubt one of the best places to eat at in Sidmouth. Open hours are very limited, as are tables but if youre lucking enough to get in then youre in for a treat. High quality fresh produce at a price I dont know how they make a profit on. I did tell Richard one time that he wasnt charging enough, he said he didnt do for the money and I believe him. We fell upon this lovely house and it’s exquisite garden by accident while visiting Sidmouth as we were staying nearby. What a find! Awalk through the hallway to the back garden to find a charming flower-filled garden with seating that’s well spaced and amazing home-made cakes and other goodies on the board. Just perfect! We had been here a couple of years ago and it’s still the best we’ve visited. As good as ever today. Scones are delicious, the welcome is warm, tea is very good. We didn’t realise they had other cakes as this wasn’t on the menu. We didn’t see savoury food on the menu but others had it and it looked excellent. Oh and the bath room is the best I’ve ever found in a public place. Thank you.

We went with the intention of having a cream tea, but the savoury food sounded so nice (homemade sausage roll with apricots, almonds and herbs) we opted for that instead and weren’t disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. The homemade cake was also really lovely. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the setting was beautiful, and relaxing. Thoroughly recommend barrington tea garden and I’ll definitely visit again.

We happened upon this tea garden at the end of a long walk. We like scones and afternoon tea - sometimes the simple pleasures are the best. We followed the clear signage through the house and into the beautiful garden. There we were greeted by the proprietor who was friendly and helpful. We ordered a cheese scone and a fruit one. Both were amongst the best we've ever eaten (we've tasted a few!) . We felt we just had to try a plain one too. All were scrummy - the cheese one was exceptional. We'll be going back!

Our first visit and it won't be our last. Delightful tea garden, excellent for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. Lunch-time platters were large with a good range of interesting fayre. Sandwiches similarly large on fresh crusty bread. Cakes and scones sublime! Oh, and the Coffee, Tea and range of drinks were pretty good as well! Convivial, friendly, attentive hosts. Well worthy of the short walk out of the town, or from the beach towards the entrance to the Byes. Understandably seasonal opening hours. A great, "new" and most welcome addition to Sidmouth.

I popped in here with two colleagues for a light lunch on a very rainy Sidmouth day. What can I say ?,the house is beautifully presented and there was a tempting glimpse of the gardens with tables cushions and umbrellas. A very polite and dapper gentleman offered a table in a formal dining room. The menu was scrumptious plenty to suit everyone lots of local produce, made even better by the gentleman's recommendations and descriptions , I chose a toasted goats cheese and beetroot chutney sandwich ,it came with a delicious sprouty salad and some crisps . My colleagues chose hummingbird cake it was light fluffy and scrummy. We will definitely be back for more "meetings!" Thank you very much to all concerned 6*.

Completely agree with other contributors. Lovely spot for tea: we shared a home-made cake and cream tea. Best scones ever with generous amounts of clotted cream and jam. Definitely worth finding this beautiful spot, very easy from the walk by the river and dogs are welcome (biscuits!). Beautiful flowers and trees, lots of shade. No good trying to go apart from the summer months though as they only open mid-May to mid-September. Yet another reason to visit Sidmouth!

Only found this place as we were staying at a hotel nearby and walked past everyday. Would probably have missed it if we came in the car as it is what it appears to be and that is someones house. Entrance to the tea garden is simply through the front door and straight through to the rear where there is a very peaceful and interesting garden with comfy chairs and tables with shade from large sun umbrellas. Im always a little apprehensive when visiting a restaurant/tearoom that is someones home as it can sometimes feel slightly awkward but this is most definitely a well run business that you cant help wishing you owned, although I think the owner probably does quite a few miles dashing around the tables. There is an excellent choice on the menu, service excellent and friendly and the food is absolutely fantastic. Particularly the fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. Its also great value for money

So pleased to have passed by this morning to find Barrington was once again open for the season. We popped in to have fresh coffee and a tea cake only to end up staying, ordering the most scrumptious goats cheese toasty (made with fresh granary bread) and a few cheeky glasses of wine. My husband got chatting to the proprietor about his new wine selection (they have recently been granted a licence) we were informed they had selected wines from their trip to France and the two we sampled (Chardonnay and rose) were excellent. The garden is a delight and most enjoyed by our small dog who enjoys the wonderful array of flowers and scents. We will be sure to return again soon as the owners provide excellent hospitality

The owners are very charming and friendly and I would really recommend this as a great venue for lunch/tea away from the bustle of the high street, but in reality only a few minutes walk away. I was in two minds on whether to review The Cuppa Cabin. On the one hand it is a very unique place that serves great coffee and cakes and yet on the other Im worried it will get super popular as more and more people visit this wonderful place and it will get much harder to find a parking space!! This is literally 5 mins away from me and yet amazingly this was my first visit. I had looked at the place as I had driven past numerous times and thought it looked just like some sheds in a car park. How wrong I was, it is like a mini theme park when you get there, a collection of cabins with an eclectic mix of antique furniture, books galore and oddities, like a cross between an amazing junk shop, an old book store and Enid Blytons secret garden. I half expected to come across some pixies flying around. Anyway great coffee, lovely cheery lady and tasty cakes (pastries and other savouries are also available) what more could you ask for ?
