Our lunch The Old Dairy Kitchen this weekend was absolutely wonderful. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was recommended by the place we were staying in. The location is extremely picturesque and idyllic. The food was a dream and the service lovely. The experience also felt very Covid-safe to us, as the barn was very spacious and airy and we were sat more than metres away from others.

Trill - Old Dairy Kitchen has been a life saver since lockdown. It's been wonderful to receive the surprise dishes. It has made self isolating less boring. Thank you Chris, helpers & delivery people. Wonderful food & wonderful instructions what more can I say..... It's good to know where the food comes from.

Trill is a magical place, whether for sunlit picnics or the sociable shared tables of happier times - let's hope for their return. I've been amazed at how the team has adapted to providing take away meals and feasts, with all their traditional imaginative and loving preparation. Each feast reflects the season and the locality and is put together so that you can easily create your own feast at home. Even better if you can book to eat at the farm and enjoy the welcome and atmosphere as well.

Trill can seem a little of the beaten but that's also its charm everyone there has gone as they know its good. the food couldn't be fresher, seasonal and great offerings, we are veggie and this is delivered with ease . My meat eating friends enjoy the same variety of delights. in addition so nice to support small local enterprises where the money is going locally . Great experience even with social distancing .

Nine of us went to ODK to celerate a 60th birthday party with a picnic in the barn. The food was first class. ODK catered brilliantly for a range of dietary needs in our group and we all loved the dishes presented. We will certainly be going back for more!

We had a family picnic at Trill yesterday, sitting in the huge airy old barn (open on both sides) with wonderful views. Perfect for a sheltered, convivial picnic with generous social distance between us and other diners. There were incredibly helpful accommodating special dietary needs and late additions to our party, and we couldn’t have been better looked after when were there. The food was generous and wonderful- a very special meal out.

The beautiful old barn at Trill Farm is a wonderful setting for a picnic with family or friends. It’s very relaxed and the resident chickens wander around the guests hoping for a few stray crumbs. Staff have made every effort to ensure the safety of their guests with sanitising stations and social distancing. Picnics are available to eat in or takeaway, but in the event of bad weather, it’s a takeaway service only. Our picnic included several delicious fresh salads and a dessert using local produce. There’s a good selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It’s very well organised, beautifully prepared and a total treat.

We ordered a take away picnic being worried to sit anywhere and slightly regretted it when seeing the lovely premises. We promised ourselves to come again and eat in the Old Diary Kitchen during our next visit to Devon. The picnic itself was amazing: a selection of the most delicious salads, bread, cold meats and a lovely peach crumble for desert. It was really good value fir money: delicious and plentiful!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough! I don’t know quite where to start first ? I guess I will say this was our first trip out after lock down and we were a little apprehensive. However the hospitality that all within Trill showed us ,was enough to reassure. Sprawling groups enabled adequate social distancing and breath taking scenery . The food was a burst of flavours every time we sat down to eat and the imagination and passion from the chef was inspiring . I was visiting for a yoga weekend and we were fortunate to practice outside and soak up the beautiful scenery at the same time. The accommodation was clean and extremely comfortable . Staff were courteous and nothing to much trouble ... I am currently in pursuit of my next adventure at trill .. It’s a hidden gem and don’t miss an opportunity to visit !

This was a totally hands-on experience, with an insight into different breadmaking traditions around the world. Chris got us working with a versatile range of doughs, so that we all took home a delicious selection of our very own breads, including wonderful focaccia ..and some Swedish buns. The sourdough starter we each came away with, could last us for years, if we follow his instructions. After five days of ‘feeding’ it, satisfying bubbles are already beginning to appear. Many thanks, Chris, for the expertise and inspiration!

We were lucky to learn of this destination restaurant and book their annual seven course game feast. It was a foody experience from the moment we stepped in the door and were seated at a large country table set for communal dining. Many of the food platters were served in a shared manner for this set menu. Everything was wonderful. What a treat!

This is how Riverford field kitchen used to be.This was Sunday lunch, so we had shoulder of venison in our combination of dishes, but veg are still the stars of the show. In total I think we had 4 or 5 delicious veggie/fishy dishes, plus home made bread and accompaniments. The dishes are shared across the 4-5 tables of 8-10 in an intimate open plan room shared with the kitchen. Staff are chatty, guests talk across the tables and the whole room feels like Christmas lunch with a massive family.I look forward to returning for an evening feast.

The Old Dairy Kitchen is situated on a 300 acre organic farm with very high ethical standards where separate enterprises work together to complement each other. Our lunch last week was absolutely delicious, and we are very much looking forward to returning soon. We had beetroot, herby arancini, beans with a very tasty salsa verde and braised goat shoulder which was delicious. The pudding was a rhubarb jelly with rhubarb parfait - a great finish. Not only was it excellent value, but everything about it was magnificent - including the weather. If I had to find something to complain about it would be the tea and coffee which I don't think was quite up to the incredibly high standards of the rest of the meal. The menu changes frequently with different produce becoming available, from the herb garden, the salad garden and the livestock. After we had eaten Mariel gave us a tour of the farm and explained its genesis. Thank you for providing a great afternoon for us.

Having `inherited` this course by a friend who couldn`t attend,my husband and I were not sure exactly what to expect. We arrived early, greeted by Chris and his lovely assistant, who made us feel comfortable with tea, homemade cake, and a chat in the dairy. The others arrived and after introductions,a history of the old dairy, and Trill Farm,we began.7 of us all together around a massive wooden table, all had a pheasant which we were shown how to pluck, gut, joint and then made kievs from the breasts with parsley butter, sprinkling of dried mushrooms, dipped in egg, flour then bread crumbs and cooked. In the mean time Chris cooked up some absolutely delicious venison livers for us to try. Then we had either a rabbir or a hare each to skin, gut, joint and used the loins to oak smoke the meat and pan fry.We dressed salads to accompany our lunch, fresh leaves from the garden, grated celeriac and oven roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds with olive oil.Midday meal was a feast of the meats we had prepared earlier, plus various vegeterian dishes, courgette batons with cucmber, roast pumpkin and chickpeas, sliced potatoes baked in milk with cheese, green tomatoes, onion chutney, grated red cabbage,"british olives"(sloes in olive oil),plus bread made from organic flour milled on the farm.Chris and his assistant worked very hard, keeping us in order,to time, without making us feel rushed, and fed us aswell. Then we watched as Chris skinned, jointed a Deer, showing us all the cuts that could be taken. All the other meat we cut from the animals-rabbit,hare,pheasent,venison went into the mincer, along with bacon, dried spices, mace, corriander and red wine. After mixing it went into the sausage machine, and with skins from sheep intestines,we all had a go at the various stages of sausage making, taking some home at the end of the course.Time for tea and some very interesting porter cake.Well what a fab way to spend a Sunday! Many thanks to Chris and his partner.Caroline and Paul,(by the way the sausages were very nice!)

The Old Dairy was recommended to us by our Old Park Hall B&B hosts. Its a very small one man and one woman show. in which locally grown seasonal vegetables are the stars. The homemade bread and pressés were also divine. We sat at a communal table and enjoyed plate after plate of sensationally delicious and interesting dishes. The chef seems like a remarkable man. Humble ethical and decent. We were at River Cottage the night before. The Old Dairy Kitchen was so much better on every front.

We decided to go for the BBQ that is held on Thursday evenings on our last evening in Devon. The food was exceptional especially the fresh and great variety of vegetables. The sticky pork belly and kofta were also very very good off the BBQ. Chris, his wife and staff were all very attentive and we had an excellent time and all for £15 a head. Worth every penny and I can't wait to go back next year.

Trill Farm is a working organic farm, education centre, B&B, and restaurant. My sister and I went for lunch (finally, after hankering after it for ages) on a Saturday in the heatwave and has a wonderful time. For only £15 per head, you get so much food you can hardly move afterwards, and all so inventive and fresh. We sat in the courtyard on long benches with about 14 other people, so not an intimate affair, but friendly and relaxed all the same. Out came the first dish (carrot hummous), and from then on I was smitten. At least 6 more communal dishes came, so many different flavours I couldn't keep track so a written description might have been useful, all served with a quiet smile from the waiting staff. All rounded off with a delicious lemon cake with gooseberry and yogurt, I loved it here and will be back shortly.

I came for lunch with some colleagues and had no idea what to expect. We were warmly greeted by Chris and Anna who busied themselves in the open plan kitchen preparing the delicious food they clearly take great pleasure in preparing and serving. I love vegetables so I was in seventh heaven trying all the different sharing dishes that varied in colour, texture and flavour. I will definitely come back for a meal at some point and possibly do one of the cooking courses.

Attended the fish feast at the Old Dairy Kitchen. Nice padron peppers and little fresh potatoes and dip to whet our appetite washed down with a glass of kir. The feast consisted of a number of sharing plates. We were a little surprised to see mackerel appear in the first two plates both of which had dressings which by the nature of the mackerel necessitated dressings that were heavily citrus based. Next up was crab and tomato. Lovely fresh tomatoes and tasty white crab meat, again though the tomatoes made for quite an acidic dish. The only problem was the two bits of shell found in my crab! Then an interesting mussel and courgette dish with the courgette made into a pesto like paste. The mussels were a little gritty. Next up was hake ceviche, which was bland and acidic. The final sharing plate was crispy fish heads! Well all I can say is that this is not everyones cup of tea! An intermediate dish of broad beans and nasturtium sorbet was very interesting. The 'main' course was plaice with barley and a lemon sauce. Never had fresh barley before and would recommend it. Desert consisted of a redcurrant jelly with frozen yoghurt. On our table one person described it as cleansing, which it was as it was so tart as to make it almost inedible to my taste.Individually there were some interesting dishes, well presented but the portion sizes were small especially as they were sharing plates so you had to rely on the restraint of your fellow guests when helping themselves!! Overall the balance of the meal didn't work as there were too many dishes that were quite acidic in nature.

What a fantastic place this is. We have attended the first two BBQ's of this season on a Thursday evening. The produce used could not be fresher all sources from the farm. The vegetable dishes and salads produced are so different and inventive. The cost of £15 a head is such good value for 3 courses. A little off the beaten track but well worth finding. Booking essential. Arrive early to look around the farm the shop and the various craft areas. The herb garden is full and courses run regularly with B&B accommodation available. I was in two minds on whether to review The Cuppa Cabin. On the one hand it is a very unique place that serves great coffee and cakes and yet on the other Im worried it will get super popular as more and more people visit this wonderful place and it will get much harder to find a parking space!! This is literally 5 mins away from me and yet amazingly this was my first visit. I had looked at the place as I had driven past numerous times and thought it looked just like some sheds in a car park. How wrong I was, it is like a mini theme park when you get there, a collection of cabins with an eclectic mix of antique furniture, books galore and oddities, like a cross between an amazing junk shop, an old book store and Enid Blytons secret garden. I half expected to come across some pixies flying around. Anyway great coffee, lovely cheery lady and tasty cakes (pastries and other savouries are also available) what more could you ask for ?
