A very nice fish and chip lunch. Small intimate friendly place to eat. I’m told the fish is fresh and battered on site. Thank you.

We popped in here for lunch during a stopover in Budleigh Salterton. We both had the Fish & Chips which were delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection and it was so great to see that there wasn’t even a drop of fat on the plate. The chips were cooked nicely with a crunchy outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The service was great too, so all in all a 5 star experience.

What a great way to start the day. Two superb sausages, two bacon, two fried eggs, proper portion of baked beans, toast and cooked to perfection. Very nice staff. I definitely will be back, and soon.

The Dolphin always offers great food and excellent service. The addition of a licence makes for a great experience. Thank you for a delicious lunch and marvellous service from the lovely, helpful, Kelly.

The new owners of the Dolphin have transformed the place. The meal was superb… The parsnip soup starter was delicious and the main course of turkey was beautifully cooked and presented. The portions were very generous. Excellent meal . It’s a shame Christmas only comes once a year! Nice place , nice people, nice food.

Today we had the most delicious three course Christmas lunch. I would heartily recommend the Dolphin Cafe. The best lunch eaten for sometime. Portions were plentiful, hot and very tasty. We all left with a warm glow. We will definitely be back. Budleigh's new jewel.

We were made very welcome, even though it was almost closing time, and were served the most delicious freshly produced food and drink - great value too. Really friendly owners who deserve your support.

We had a lovely breakfast here at half term, such good quality and absolutely delicious. Plus we didn’t have to wait too long, which was good as we had a hungry 5 year old with us. Great value too

Went in for breakfast…. Wife had traditional English …. Super local products cooked to perfection My choice was locally caught fresh mackerel on toast, fresh from the sea. Perfectly filleted and skinned and cooked to perfection…. So moist and so fresh Shaun the chef is an excellent chef and it shows in the quality of his preparation and cooking…. But also with the selection of locally sourced products which means the “specials “ change daily Kelly, front of house helps complete the team, to make this place so popular Lovely aired feel inside the restaurant with local art work on the walls, some for sale, and decorated as a seaside restaurant should be Pass this place and you will miss a great dining experience. My first visit here and it won't be the last. A great first impression smile and very attentive even though very busy on Saturday morning. I had medium breakfast beautifully cooked. Going to try their special menu board, lots of variety today with my husband, looking forward to that.

Booked a table for 4 for breakfast and upon arrival it was a great welcome from Kelly and a warm atmosphere. We ordered our breakfasts and drinks and they all arrived within a good time. The breakfast was fantastic and we wanted to book the next day to do it again but sadly they are closed on a Sunday, however whenever we are in town we will certainly be back. Thank you

Delicious breakfast at the Dolphin today, I had high expectations and it did not disappoint. Friendly service, quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and served piping hot, including the coffee. An honest plate of food. I was pleased I went for the medium breakfast and not the large as it was plenty.

We have been twice to the Dolphin, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both meals were extremely well cooked and used quality ingredients. The large breakfast was a real feast to keep you going all day. When we went for lunch we had the halibut from the specials board and it was superb. Can't wait for them to get their licence and to be open in the evenings. With some background music and candles, it will help build an atmosphere. The new Dolphin is a very welcome addition to the town from our perspective and we will be going back.

What an amazing change to the place. Lovely decor, so light and airy. My wife and I enjoyed breakfast today. It was the best breakfast I’ve ever had. Sumptuous sausage and super tasty bacon. Nice toast and limitless tea. All locally sourced. Cannot recommend the place highly enough. Thanks to chef Sean and front of house Kelly. Great value. Can’t wait to sample their supper nights. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

The cafe has opened under new management and what a difference. A bright clean interior and delicious freshly cooked food. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.

An excellent choice of fish main courses. Today we had hake and tuna steak and a couple of weeks ago, we had scallops and mussels. Served with beautiful veg and reasonably priced. Friendly and professional service too.

Popped in on a lunchtime for tea and a snack with friends whilst we were on holiday. This cafe was a great find. Lovely welcome from the owner who had such a friendly manner that we felt relaxed as soon as we sat down. First...

1.30pm and we had the door shut in our faces for lunch. Surely lunch is served till 2.00 or even 2.30 The food looked uninviting, so we probably had a near miss UNBELIEVABLE!

Hemos ido a la cafetería de delfines durante años ahora, no son gente como tal sino vivir en Torquay. Viajamos por la hora o así cada dos semanas o así para tomar café, té y pan casero que los bollos ESTÁN FUERA DE ESTE MUNDO!! Margaret y Gary son los anfitriones perfectos y son expertos en lo que hacen. Si wany almuerzo o comida principal, felizmente dirá donde visitar, pero si es solo una casa hecha un bollo, tartas caseras, panes caseros té o buiscuits quieres regados con el mejor café de este lado de Arabia!! Mi amigo y yo vengo aquí regularmente ya que me encanta el ambiente de los viejos tiempos. Siempre es muy concurrido y es popular entre los lugareños y los turistas. No sirven comidas. Sin embargo sirven deliciosas bebidas y aperitivos. Todas las tartas y panes es casera y realmente deliciosa. Tiene un montón de cosas alrededor de la sala de té de los delfines. El servicio es rápido, eficiente y amable. Bien merece una visita. Recomiendo

Encantador salón de té con buen servicio antiguo. Muy popular entre los lugareños y los turistas. Un montón de brassware y un montón de delfines que decoran el salón de té. No hacer comidas, pero hacen un precioso delfín de café, té, pan casero gran pasteles, etc. Recomiendo encarecidamente y una visita obligada para los turistas

Lo que un pintoresco salón de té. La decoración, los propietarios y el servicio ofrecido una encantadora manera de pasar una hora, especialmente cuando el tiempo era tan terrible fuera.

y eso es lo que nos dieron, no en el Ritz, pero era justo lo que queríamos, sí, ella estaba usando un largo delantal frilly rosado, pero eso es sólo el encanto del lugar. No hacen almuerzos, dice así en la puerta, ni tarjetas de crédito, pero los cuatro tazas de café y galletas sólo llegaron a 8.50 libras por lo que no es un gran problema, café era tal y como se anunciaba, nada especial, galletas caseras y delicioso.

The Dolphin is a delightful old fashioned tea rooms run by a couple. If your looking for sandwiches etc this isn't the place. But they do they do wonderful cakes and a lovely toasted fruit bread that's a little like a toasted tea cake. As well as lovely service. They also have music piped into the room from 30s - 50s only! Lovely!

Another regular haunt for me. Home made tea bread and home made bread for toast is delicious and what I usually pop in for along with a Dolphin coffee. Great cakes. Limited menu but a must for locals and visitors alike. It is always busy. Really good prices.

Very much enjoyed this place, thought its type had died out and I'd never see a decent cream tea again.Very recommendable, friendly, gets busy but quality is consistent.Took photographs of my wife here but can't find them now so will add later or do another review.

This is a tiny little tea house that serves home cooked meals and traditional Devon cream teas! Hadn't been to Budleigh salterton for years and it was a welcome return! Lovely relaxing country hospitality!

Popped in for coffee and cheese scones today. This little tea room is absolutely delightful, menu simple and service excellent. There is a great atmosphere and welcoming staff.

Have been there on numerous occations and have to agree their coffee and cheese scones are the best, very freindly atmosphere and always enjoy our visits.

Had a lovely cream tea in an Old fashioned traditional tea shop. Scones were home-made and quite delicious. The lady serving was very friendly and felt like being in a homely parlour. Beats the usual coffee shops anyday. Would be nice if they did other things too like home-made soup.

Margaret and Gary have run this fabulous little sanctuary for several years. The coffee could not be better. The cheese scones are wonderful too. Depending on who is in the people watching can be outstanding too. Extremely clean and friendly. Ironically we get to visit it less since moving to live locally than when we were holiday makers in this fantastic town.

As soon as you walk in,although very busy,you get a warm welcome from the owner/waitress. It's a place you would certainly like to visit again. Prices are very reasonable.

The Dolphin is great, the menu is limited BUT the scones, bread and tea bread are home made and really excellent. Assam tea is great and the service is always good with a smile. If you are some stuck up coffee "expert" it's probably not for you, if you just want some quality refreshments at a good price, look no further.

Our family have visited this tea room twice. Last year we visited whilst on holiday and loved it so much we decided to visit again whilst holidaying this year. It is quite old fashioned but that adds to the charm. Margaret who served us is very accommodating especially as we had our 2 children with us and she made the table a bit more childproof by removing the table cloth and doily, The cakes, biscuits and scones are delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The main thing that will put us off from visiting again was the locals. We visited on a Saturday morning, and a group of older locals made some Very unwelcoming comments to us and our children. It's a shame really our first experience was very different

Quaint little cafe in Budleigh Salterton, East Devon not North as in address. Great home made scones served hot with lots of butter; doorstop toast again with loads of butter or marge if preferred. Good home made soup. Very friendly.

The ordinary furniture and decor should have warned us, but when the waitress arrived wearing a floor length frilled apron I started to worry.The menu was very limited and the cappuccino truthfully stated in brackets that it was Nescafé. My white coffee was of little taste or flavour. No gluten free items on the menu, and just the usual scones etc.Not worth the sit down .

on looking at the menu you could see a good value for the your money,excellent food and service.as we were seated our order was takenand soon served apiping hot meal.
