The best restaurants in St Ives North Cornwall, Isles of Scilly South West

Ordered white bait, material and fish curry. Had to wait over 30 mins before the drinks arrived. Palpably slow service. Left the venue still hungry and wanting for a bag of chips

Handy location for Porthmeor nearby, and nice to sit outside in the sun when you have it. I had the crab main on bruschetta. It was £17, and all you got was one piece of bruschetta with a smallish portion of crab on top and seafood sauce on top.. very disappointing. It was more like a starter and should have been about £12-13 max so way overpriced or double the portion size. Kids salad was just some chopped cherry tomatoes and cucumber £8 in a small plate. Way overpriced again. Quality of food was good though. Service was okay.

Popped in for a cuppa and found a welcoming, clean spot to sit down and have a leisurely break. Wonderful scones and clean as can be.

Awesome coffee and tasty food choices! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Forget the great View, forget the amazing food. It was very refreshing to actually feel wanted at this place. Not a hassle for the staff, not a stupid tourist they will never see again. Which is what we have seen a lot. The standard of service at this place exceeded any expectations I had. What a friendly team, always smiling no matter how busy they were, nothing was too much hassle. Thank you for making us feel like our custom was appreciated ❤️ We had breakfast twice, which was amazing. The pancakes were delicious. We were only here for two days but would have come back everyday if we where staying longer. Thank you to everyone for your efforts. Lisa

Great meal, all great options and great value. Nice unique atmosphere that draws on history of the building with friendly, helpful service.

This was easily the best dinner we've had in St. Ives, and we've tried a lot of places! (I kind of started the burrata before taking the picture)

Lovely ambience and a warm welcome on a cold, windy day. Great coffees and two bowls of truly delicious dahl and sourdough toast. My partner also had a flapjack, which he enjoyed. I wanted a cake too, but sadly there were no vegan options. Perhaps another day? We look forward to returning. Thank you

Disappointing stay We stayed in Room Eight & we booked a double room. The room was basement level and was tiny with low ceilings, smelled heavily of chemicals and later mold. We had to keep the windows open but unfortunately the one small window opened out onto a busy road. The road was meters away from the window and the cars go fast, so it was really noisy day and time The bath was narrow and not full length and weirdly sticky. Really disappointed with our stay as we'd read such lovely reviews and the pictures (which are of different rooms to ours) looked so nice .

The service was very slow. Food from order to table took 30 minutes. We tried to order soup of the day. Both options were not available. So we chose a crab sandwich with cucumber pickle and a fresh asparagus in mint pesto and pistachio + flatbread with wild garlic butter. The flatbread was good but arrived sometime after the asparagus dish. I had expected the asparagus to be cooked. However it was raw asparagus very finely sliced in pesto. The taste between cooked and raw is quite different. Personally I prefer the cooked flavour. The raw flavour is not as distinctive and there is only so much you can enjoy. The crab sandwich was a misnomer. The crab was spread between a section of baguette with a very hard crust and the cucumber pickle in slices also in between. It was incredibly difficult to eat and impossible to cut with an ordinary knife. We requested a sharper knife and this was supplied with the comment you had to expect this with a sourdough baguette. Really? and sourdough seemed unlikely ! Neither dishes were particularly enjoyable and jointly came to £43 which we thought expensive. Service charge was extra which we declined. We have been to Source before and the menu was excellent. This time it was very disappointing - something seems to have been lost in their sense of purpose and delivery.

The service is fantastic! The staff are so friendly and a pleasure to be around. But the food... I don't think I've ever eaten something so perfectly cooked! It was perfect in every way possible! - Chunky chips were crispy and fluffy, bacon and sausages were succulent and juicy. I cannot rate this place high enough! ∞/10. Absolutely divine!

Avoid the takeaway! Watch out for being scammed!! Bought 2 x cod plus 1 x chips =£23.90…..ok, fair enough. The older guy told us the price and I paid contactless. It turns out that he sneakily added a 15% gratuity and my bank was deducted £27.48…..unbeknown to me until I checked later. Note the gratuity (on the photo) underneath the price. Definitely doesn’t make it clear that you will be charged that in addition to the total (in bold). Also, why would I pay a gratuity when you’ve done nothing but throw it in a tray…..taking the p*** Watch out tourists, he will be doing this to thousands of people a week. To add insult to injury, they were the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Absolutely disgusting…..they went in the bin!

Been coming to st Ives for 25 years 3-4 times a year and only just tried the Mermaid! To my shame. The kids menu and steaks were great, the seafood kebab was lovely, service amazing, will definitely be coming again

Danish pastry completely sealed in plastic. It was really awful so checked packaging. They make them and seal them for a 3 day shelf life, so no fresh bakery produce here, you are as well with a mass-produced supermarket one. Checking the ingredients, they aren't even Danish pastry ingredients. The "superdough" part of the ingredients was just a chemical filled anomaly of things that shouldn't be there. That is not a Danish Pastry. And why all those unnecessary ingredients in the icing? Icing sugar and water would suffice. Interestingly, there is no flour listed on the ingredients for the superdough so I doubt it is a legal list. That is quite a serious omission! I attach a photo of the ingredients list.
