The website was very difficult to book adults and children in the booking so we just booked it as places. They told us that they could not do children’s afternoon tea so we had to have full price afternoon tea for the children at a discount, which wasn’t a great deal, not very friendly not very accommodating. It was too much trouble for them .

Wanted try this place for long time, but unfortunately was really disappointed about the main meal. Ordered focaccina barese and parmigiana. Focaccia was absolutely delicious. Fresh and nicely crispy. Little bit salty - but I usually put lots of salt on everything as well. So was okay for me. But the parmigiana was soo salty, that I couldn’t eat more than two spoons. And as I said, I put lots of salt on everything. But this was far too much even for me.

Came here yesterday after my cousin from Sheffield was here last week & highly recommended it. Wonderful place with a great, relaxed atmosphere & lovely staff. It was so good we stayed here instead of going sightseeing & had some of their delicious pies for dinner. They were so good we came back for breakfast this morning which again was top quality & delicious, but the thing that really made our trip to The Raven was the amazing marmalade, never had such a yummy marmalade, dark, bitter sweet & totally unctuous. The chef kindly gave us some to take home with us. We're hoping that when we return The Raven will have put it in jars & will be selling it on the bar #nectarofthegods

Nearly 5 star for us! What we liked (which was a lot!) Location, set in some stunning grounds, really gets the wow factor on the drive in, nice water features beautiful trees, so nice! Then just a 15-20 min walk to the town which is literally a straight walk, so simple too, it’s a great location. Parking is great and EV chargers also (about 50p per kilowatt to charge at time Oct 24 and easy availability) these are within car park. Spa - saw lots of complaints about the spa in reviews, but looked at the thermae spa and guests could only use that for short restricted times that would not fit around us. We really liked the spa, yes some parts could do with freshening up, but nothing all that bad, hydra pool was so lovely and hot and jets were decent. Sauna lovely and hot as needed. Loved the steam room also and the ice cold shower room! Within the hotel was nice also, from reception to the lounge, to the actual rooms. They are more older posh style than modern luxury but that was what we expected. Again, some things look a little tired but nothing major and nothing that put us off. Not so good, little things…. Simple things like no USB chargers in the room. Bed comfort was super soft, we have a Simba at home and it wasn’t really to our liking I actually didn’t sleep too well, but more of a personal preference thing. I really can’t think of anything else which says a lot!
