Lovely pub with great service and food!

Formerly a moribund pub, the Dolphin, the transformation and the well thought out extensions some years ago has revolutionised this location. Very popular now, so much so, a cosmetic tlc is a regular requirement. I'm most often there for breakfast. There are multiple options, really - just ask the chef and you'll get it. My favourite is the Breakfast Bap - Almost as filling as an FEB. The staff change regularly, invariably students earning their way. Affable and welcoming, they've clearly had and followed the customer focusing instructions. When the weather is clement, sitting outside is a very pleasant way to drink good ale, eat original snacks and watch the footpath and canal traffic

Wow! What a supper club. The game night menu was absolutely delicious. Every course was enjoyed and every bit finished. The chef is very talented. The rabbit cacciatore was superb. Thank you Theo and team for a wonderful evening.

Held a birthday party here with about 60/70 guests and Theo and the rest of the team were excellent. Easy to organize, super attentive on the night and the space (restaurant area) looked amazing. Food (we put on pizzas) for guests came at the agreed time and was really good. Would highly recommend! Thanks!

Very large pub, some nice comfortable sofas 🛋, log fires 🔥, excellent range of beverages. And dog friendly.

Not as we remembered. No carvery, veg was very sparse, not even your 1 a day portion! I believe the food is over priced plus cheeky service charge for 2 diners! I can now understand how we got a table at late notice.

We waited half an hour for two breakfast but there was only one other table there. By the time it was arrived coffee was drink before it went cold and the fried egg was solid and the rest of it was only warm. Very expensive for the quality and they added a service charge. Most disappointing Won’t go back

Sunday Roast with my two young boys. Service was excellent and the atmosphere lovely. £22 for roast beef is pricey though and although the quality was high, it was not perfect (undercooked cauliflower) and the amount of beef was on the small side. My boys loved their food, and I was impressed, just not £22 impressed! Total bill with drinks £66

Sunday roast was beautifully presented and tasty too! Jessamy and Rhi, our servers, were both efficient friendly & helpful when it came to recommending dishes, as one of our party did not want a Sunday roast. They always came to the table with a smile. Food portions were great for a lunch time visit and the local ale’s went down a treat. Will definitely be back again!!!

Food is great service was poor (veggies turned up 10 mins after our mains), it was Sunday we were hungry and it. It was super annoying, manager offers us our drinks for free (only had soft drinks as we were driving) no not a real discount!

We came across this lovely place as we walked into Bath from our accommodation, first time we had visited Bath so it was nice to stop and have a drink next to the canal, we liked it so much we booked for Sunday dinner and you couldn’t fault it at all, very dog friendly and the food was lovely! Definitely worth a visit

Extremely slow service. When the pub is busy like Saturday night , there should be the right number of staff allocated to avoid big queues. We wanted food but didn't get any because we could not wait in a long queue. Overall the atmosphere is great , they have board games , cozy sitting but the manager needs to make sure to have a back up plan of staff are ill and make sure to be empathetic to the clients rather than expects them to wait to be served for 10 minutes . Improvement is possible . Hope I will see it soon.

Local pub on my doorstep and it's a great place to go. The staff are always helpful, friendly and their customer service is spot on.. That's why we always use these guys as our go to pub.... Supper clubs, quizzes, live entertainment. All washed down with a mix of great food and drink...

My husband and I had a lovely meal tonight . Staff very friendly and restaurant area was clean and tidy . We were served by Mitchell who was very friendly and helpful.

Great roast after a long day. Food was good, not amazing, but good. Were did eat at about 18:00 and the only roast they had left was chicken. Our server Theo was super attentive and very welcoming. Would definitely go back again

First time visit, great Pub tucked away down by the river, the weather wasn't so great when we visited but I can imagine when the sun is out it's beautiful outside. The four of us had roast dinners, 2 x beef, 1 x chicken, and 1 x pork, all of which were really good. We would definitely visit again.

Came here for Sunday lunch & dessert. Staff are really welcoming. Food was very tasty and great portion sizes. Lots to choose from on the menu! Desserts was outstanding!! Would highly recommend. Thank you Suzanne for sorting today for us!

Hidden gem, went there randomly to see if they did breakfast on a Sunday. They do, reasonably priced for bath, incredible food, great feeling atmosphere. Bring a date!

We didn't eat on this ocassion but this is a fantastic stop on the canal walk into bath, I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately the rattan furniture table and chairs we sat on had a dangerous metal rod poking out of it, this needs to be addressed before somebody is hurt

A lovely pub with great food. We love the Tuesday quiz night and it has become a regular outing for our family. Lots of fun and good company.

Very friendly place where we had a tasty lunch at a reasonable price & in very nice surroundings. We will certainly be returning when we’re next in Bath. A good selection of dishes at a fair price. The lunchtime pizza deal during the week was an excellent deal. The staff were very friendly & polite too & service was at a nice speed.

A lovely pub , very large with lots of outdoor seating

Totally ignored by barman who chose to go to couple who arrived after me then promptly left the bar to take them to a table. My partner took my place at the bar while I used the toilet facilities. Came back to find him still waiting at bar waiting to be served bar left unattended the whole time around ten mins from when first standing at bar. Barman returns then says with you in a second and then promptly goes to attend a table leaving us still unserved at the bar. At this point we leave bring ignored once is inexcusable twice is nothing short of rude. Will not be returning even though I have been using this pub under various different owners for over 30 years. If you want to be served promptly and efficiently find a different pub.

We met up with family and friends for Sunday lunch at the Locksbrook Inn. We had a lovely time. Booking was easy online, staff were welcoming, friendly, caring and efficient. We appreciated the dedicated dining room where we could take our dog. Very pleasant surroundings, plenty of space. The food was excellent and plentiful. It was a sunny summer day and the pub was pretty busy, but everything felt unflustered and very well run. I heartily recommend it.

The roast dinner I had was great, very decent portion size. We finished our visit with a few pints in the beer garden in the sun. The waiter (think his name was Josh) was very attentive and great to chat to. Will definitely come again!

Was very relaxing, with decent music despite dipping into dangerous territory by playing the 1975. The service was brilliant, very attentive and quick and the food tasted great. I did throw it up unfortunately, but it somehow tasted brilliant on the way out too so thats a plus.

Food is lovely, they have a great selection of what to order with food and drinks. Nice scenery as we sat outside by the river.

Lovely spot along the canal. The staff are really attentive and chatty. We ordered a sharing board which was a bit scarce for the money paid but what we had was tasty. However, we wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Lovely location, nice inside, toilets need updating as they were questionable and the hand dryer did not even work! Food…Please do not waste your money on the £18 crab sandwich with fries…They advertise white and brown crabmeat but what came out was akin to crab pate on two skinny slices of cheap bread toast. They did send it back to the kitchen at my request and it came back with a little more brown crab, no white meat. If you know, you know. The Manager was helpful but the younger staff came across as rude. The burger was fairly non-impressive. Such a shame as lovely location and they have a nice undercover outside area. Not one to return to for us😢

Had a works retirement party here and, they was happy to accommodate. Lovely food grate customer service and team had a grate time. Would definitely recommend

Used to be really good, but our experience this time suggests the food quality is going down and the prices are very much on the up. The service is great and the setting really nice but the prices for the average food is getting silly. I had the roast beef which said it came pink, but was definitely not. I followed with the strawberry cheesecake for pudding which came with a bizarre whole pink peppercorn and strawberry sauce - it did not work for me and the £9 price tag made it all the more unpalatable. Others had the sticky toffee pudding which was good though! The kid's menu, while in most eateries a source of good value, here costs £7.50 for just a main, puddings are extra (£4.75 for a kids tiny chocolate brownie!) and kid's drink are extra too. Overall just a bit disappointed that previous favourite is going off the boil.

Our new favourite place! What a find! Absolutely beautiful restaurant and the outdoor terrace is wonderful and the outside bar is fantastic! The Sunday lunch was delicious ( vege wasn’t great) but when the beef melts and the roasties are amazing not a big deal. The service was super quick, attentive and very friendly! Nothing too much trouble! A wonderful way to spend a sunny Sunday! We look forward to returning over and over! Thank you so much!!!!!

Late afternoon, early evening supper. Nice meal. Salt and pepper squid very tender. Sirloin baguette had a little too much mustard, but I enjoyed it. Kids meals - pasta and pizza were good.

Me and girlfriend went yesterday for a roast dinner and it was great! 👌👍😋 definitely recommend it if you are looking for somewhere that does a good roast in and near Bath.

Stopped for a spur of moment Sunday roast. Food was ok but certainly not worth the £21 per plate. Service was a bit indifferent. Worth a try but can't honestly recommend.

Food was interesting, although costing bit more than expected. My burger was delightful, but I wish I had seen the crab sandwich before I ordered looked wonderful. We sat outside in the June sunshine by the river - beautiful! A charming place, bit off the usual tourist trail. Recommended.

Quite disappointed. This was a meal out on holiday, and when we walked in, it looked nice. Prices were okay. We ordered our starters and they took 40 mins. Ridiculous. We were dreading how long our mains would take, and they took 1 hour to come out. Bearing in mind only 2 other tables were in the restaurant!! Would NOT recommend.

Service was hit and miss. We started with amazing service, then from there on as the meal went on we had different people it was abit of a hit or miss with the service. Wrong dish was given but that was quickly sorted. Plates and glasses especially took a very long time to be taken. But there was 5 of us. We sat outside which was lovely. Everything was very clean. Will be coming back again. Very child friendly.

Pint of Gem was last out the barrel, I think. Why give it to me if obviously below standard ? Took it back. Spanish chicken was not stuffed ! Complained, fair enough, free deserts albeit ice cream on mine was practically fully melted ! Surely can do better than this.

I was taken here by some friends after having a bad day i like that there is tables that are a bit more separate from others giving some space great for thoes who struggling with anxiety to feel more relaxed the staff all seem nice the food was great altho i found the burger meat a bit spicy im not keen with textures and tastes so would have been perfect if wasn't as strong but toned down with extra ketchup i did really enjoy it though. I have returned since bringing another friend only for drinks this time still really neutral feel as in some pubs feel like your a outsider walking in to somewhere wear everyone knows each other this place aint like that you get the feel that anyone can walk in and feel comfortable You have a main bar area and separate rooms for meals with a good sized coverd beer garden right next to river. Great place will be returning Just to add there is a carpark but limited spaces

Been here twice in the last week whilst on our holiday to Bath. Both times the food was delicious and the service brilliant. Lovely garden overlooking the canal.

Would i go back here NO £11:30 for two pints of Thatcher’s not a cat in hells chance would i , plus it’s a non smoking pub in the beer garden but people were vaping and when i questioned the staff (KIDS) themselves they came up with stupid excuses and nothing was done

After a rather embarrassing issue with the bill caused by my group of freinds, the manager was really lovely and understanding -thank you. The restaurant is nice and in a lovely location, and the quiz night is fun.

We pre-booked a table for 7pm on a recent Friday night. We checked in at the bar and was advised to take a menu and sit in the upper restaurant that leads tom the outside garden area and someone would come and take our order. We waited for nearly an hour, and then my husband went to the bar to order more drinks and to ask if anyone was coming to take our order. After a further 10 minute wait our order was taken. The food arrived fairly quickly and was okay for your average pub food. We often stay at the Bath Marina camp site and have often walked to the Locksbrok Inn for a drink/meal, however on this occasion it was very frustrating to have pre-booked a table (and the barman checked they had received the booking), to then be ignored and have to wait so long to be served. It did take the edge off what was otherwise a lovely evening. This is a pub with a lovely setting and is often very busy, but why get people to pre-book a specific date and time to then be ignored. Other than the long wait, the pub is in a lovely setting right by the river and I am sure we will continue to visit.

Customer service is not the top priority here, and “ dog friendly” stops at allowing dogs to enter premises!! ( so dog tolerant would be a better description). Asked to sit at a side table rather than a central room table but were told the party group may wish to spread out. The two vacant seats / table completely unused throughout our meal ( and group were convivial - am sure they would not have objected to us sitting there). Chestnut and apricot roast was pleasant enough - but despite being listed on menu as items served with ALL roast dishes - Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese failed to materialise on my plate. When asked for the accompaniment as listed was told “ oh that doesn’t come with the vegan option”! Explained I am not vegan , and that the menu clearly specified ALL roast dishes came with this. Shocked waiter finally comprehended “ so would you like a Yorkshire pudding?” When agreed was told it was an extra £1 as “ this dish doesn’t come with yorkshires”!! Even when clearly pointed out on menu in black and white still persisted in charging extra. Asked to speak to manager to be told she was not in that day!! Not about the £1 ; but worst attitude ever to a hugely deceptive and inaccurate menu ! Food was perfectly adequate but absolutely nothing special. Service left very much to be desired AND service charge automatically added despite being made clear we were unhappy about the false description on the menu. Will not be returning! Shame as lovely location alongside river , and attractive decor - but worst example of poor customer service ever encountered.

Have been here a few times, this time was saturday evening and sunday lunchtime. The food is always excellent as is the service from the very polite and friendly staff. If you are in the area, go to this pub, you will not be disappointed.

We come to the Locksbrook Inn a few times throughout the year, especially on special occasions in the family. The pub, as well as our server Jessamy, was a lovely and welcoming. Our food was delicious and the pub was very accommodating for birthday celebrations! Thank you!

We organised a group social here, about 25 of us, mainly drinks, but some ordered food. We were offered a ‘ private function ‘ area that worked brilliantly for us - not a closed room but slightly removed from the main pub area so we had privacy but were still able to enjoy the ambiance of the pub. We always ensure that our venues are wheelchair accessible and this was from the outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we’ll be back. Those of us who ate enjoyed our food. We’ll be back.
