Avoid! We went in for ice cream - they had about 3 flavours out of the 15 or so advertised. They blamed delivery. When we ordered 5 they handed us 5 pathetic tiny scoops in tubs - didn’t even ask if that was ok. When we complained the manager aggressively told us “we are closing next week so running supplies down” as if we were somehow outrageous to expect cones/to be told there was no cones before we paid. It needs a good clean too inside.

This isn’t my first visit to the wonderful Rod and Line, and it won’t be our last. The staff are beyond friendly, they were so kind and welcoming to our dog too. The pub is cosy and atmospheric. The fresh crab was exceptional, the food came quickly and we couldn’t fault our experience. They fitted us in last minute on a Sunday for lunch and I’m so happy they did. I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion. Thank you Rod and Line :)

Stopping off for morning coffee was a very different experience to when we visited the same week for evening drinks and was excellent (reviewed separately). The wait for the drinks to reach our table was unacceptable and when they did arrive my cappuccino was mostly froth, very little liquid! My husband said he heard the lady on the next table saying exactly the same thing. Wouldn't recommend for coffee. A pet hate of mine is when cakes are displayed without prices as was the case here.

We popped in without booking and we're so lucky to get a table. I can honestly say that this place is one of the nice Thai restaurants I've been too. The waitresses were all so wonderful and every single one greeted us with Sawadeekah when we entered. The food was absolutely incredible and so well priced. We had the sharing platter which was amazing along with curried and rice after. We were so shocked by how little we spent and how much food we had. A big shout out to MINDY who was our waitress who was soooo lovely and spoke to us about her home city and asked about our visit to Thailand too. I will most definitely be going back!! Highly recommend x

Myself, wife and daughter visited here for breakfast whilst visiting Bath for the day. First impressions were great with the guy seating us being extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the large cooked breakfast for around £15, my wife the pancakes and our daughter an omelette. Drinks and food were very quickly delivered to the table and we all tucked in. Visually they all looked good, with the exception of the single hash brown on my plate which was the smallest I’d ever seen. It’s not often that food that enters my mouth leaves instantly, but the hash brown broke all speed records and i think that record will be a long standing one. Tepid in temp at best, with the texture not even as good as fried cardboard, it was obvious that this hash brown had accidentally slipped into the chefs pocket prior to his around the world trip 3 years ago and then accidentally made its way onto my plate on his return. Not always one to complain I grabbed a quick fork full of beans to try and rid my mouth of the experience, only to find them colder than the hash brown. When you can’t microwave beans competently maybe the kitchen isn’t the best place for you ? With the server only next door to us I had a discreet word, received a genuine apology and a few minutes later was presented with a fresh ramekin of beans and 2 more hashbrowns. It was instantly obvious that the beans had been microwaved way beyond what was needed as they’d bubbled and spat the sauce over their container. Exercising some caution in picking the ramekin up I realised I’d been correct in my assessment. The beens were beyond scalding hot. I’m not sure if this was a spiteful act that quite frankly could have been dangerous, or to give them the benefit of my doubt maybe the microwaver needs better training? The 2 hashbrowns were as equally as bad as the first and were left. My wife and daughter’s breakfasts were both nice. I’d never return here which was a shame as I think it has the potential to serve some consistently good food.
