Traveller's Rest Pensford in Bath and North East Somerset

I was part of a party of 16.They dealt with it without any problems.It helped that we pre ordered our food in which was a great help to them.

Trying out new bar Sunday stuffed Yorkshire pudding absolutely gorgeous and so generous with portion sizes and good for price.

Had a fantastic roast dinner on Sunday, we were a big party with small children included and the staff were amazing, very friendly, accommodating and great with the kids, they also brought out the kids meals first which I thought was great so they could go on eating whilst ours came out, small little things like that help a lot with kids. The food was incredible hats off the chef and kitchen staff! the puddings were gorgeous too and with a great selection! We will most definitely be going back such a warm welcoming pub every one we dealt with was so lovely and accommodating and helpful really fantastic pub all round 10/10 oh and fantastic view in the conservatory while we eat, perfect.

Fantastic pub, lovely fresh food, great service, they have a pub dog 😭 fish, beautiful views and serve a free dog meal (from a doggy menu 🥹) when their humans buy a meal! Great little find. We will be sure to return!

We had ventured to so many pubs to find food and stumbled upon the travellers rest, couldn't have been a better find. The staff were unbelievable, so attentive and fun. The pub has beautiful views and food!! Couldn't recommend enough ❤️

Such a wonderful, family friendly pub with delicious food! This is our 4/5th consecutive year visiting The Travellers Rest as a very large family group (around 30 of us!) for a Christmas gathering and the staff are always extremely accommodating, friendly and welcoming to us. The food is always delicious, with generous portions and an excellent menu to choose from! There’s plenty of kid friendly options too with a lovely children’s menu. I would thoroughly recommend The Travellers Rest, the service and food is always faultless! Thank you once again for looking after all of us!

The Travellers Rest have hosted me and my family for the last few years on Boxing Day. It's a good location for us because it's about in the middle of where we all live, but we go there because the food and service is always really good. It's hard to find somewhere that serves 'homecooked' to the same high standards you get at home! Not only is the quality good, but the portions are really generous too. We always leave happy and full up. I appreciate them giving up their Christmas for us. They're always really happy to see us, service is professional, drinks are served quickly at the table - but if you go to the bar, you also get to meet their dogs! I would highly recommend

The food was presented really well and tasted great. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming. The atmosphere was fine but some very noisy customers - at least they were having a good time 😄

These guys deserve all the love they get. Really friendly service from the ladies behind the bar and the young man serving. The pub dog is so cute we fell in love with her. The food is also really good, it's not too expensive and they cater to coeliacs which is a huge win for us. Our dog was also very welcome and was offered her own (FREE!) doggy meal ❤️❤️

Amazing meal, wonderful friendly staff and happy cosy atmosphere. We have been to this pub on many occasions, just for drinks. Tonight we had a pre-Christmas meal of roast beef and all the trimmings, which is locally sourced, amazingly succulent and cooked to perfection. For pudding we had sticky toffee pudding and custard, which was very scrumptious. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

It's always lovely to visit the Travellers Rest, enjoying friendly service & beautiful country views. I really appreciate the GF food & have never been disappointed. Good value for money as well!

First time after a few years, it has now been taken over by an amazing landlord, food is amazing, decor is amazing and he has lots of new plans. This was so needed as it had gone downhill. Will definitely be going back for more top notch food.

This place is a real gem. Had a warm welcome by the friendly staff team on arrival to surprise my Dad who lives locally. The pub allows self contained camper and/motorhomes to spend the night when eating in the restaurant which was just what I needed. It's a lovely atmosphere inside and my two dogs were spoilt with their own free meal which came with mine! We all enjoyed delicious food before retiring to van for a very quiet night on their level car park with stunning views over the valley. Can't wait to visit again, thanks to all for looking after us so well :)

A beautiful pub with amazing views and very great staff, the food was excellent, we had the mixed Grill which the meat was phenomenal and the Salmon Wellington which was fully home made and looked amazing

We come here regularly for food and drinks because we love everything about the place and can’t fault it! They have been doing loads to improve it recently such as decorating and have loads of plans for the future which is exciting. Food is so good! Would def recommend!

We visited for Sunday lunch and received such a warm welcome and impeccable service that I cannot praise it enough, they were so quick and efficient even though they were very busy, the food was excellent with very good portion sizes and gorgeous desserts, very reasonably priced aswell The ladies toilets were lovely and clean and a selection of toiletries and sanitary products were provided free of charge which I thought was great. We will definitely be visiting again 😊 👍

Absolute gem of a local pub! Chanced upon it by accident after a walk in Pensford ended up in a pub that had stopped serving food. The Travellers Rest came up on our google search for places nearby and it ended up being a far better option. Food was outstanding, service excellent, staff friendly and welcoming, and they were very happy to not only accommodate our dog but also give her a home-cooked dog meal for free whilst we dined! We will definitely be back and we're so pleased we came across it.

We really enjoyed our visit to the travellers rest , it was perfect place with two dogs who also got a sunday dinner as well as us and the food was delicious . perfect pit stop for us travelling down to devon

Visiting here is a must! Hospitable from the moment we entered. Lovely staff couldn't do enough for us! Welcoming of the dog too, and the doggie meals offered are a unique and adorable touch. Food is sublime! Great portions, and more than reasonable prices for food and drink. Gorgeous atmosphere patrons are welcoming too. Need to shout out the toilets too! Clean, well stocked and extras for the needs of ladies is impeccable! Seriously seriously seriously cannot recommend here enough.

We had roast beef on Sunday was 1 of the best roasts I have had in Bristol in a long time beef so tender portions good size friendly service and welcoming pub by all staff

Lovely greeting and super dining room overlooking the countryside. Probably the best Nasi goreng outside of its native country. Dissapointing dessert menu but grandma rice pudding saved the day.

Visited for Saturday steak night had 10oz rump steak 2sides and a sauce plus a drink for £25. Steak was fantastic cooked perfectly very tender. A generous portion of sauce and lovely chips. Excellent value for money. Will definitely go back.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view over the meadows. The staff was nice but a bit difficult for us to understand due to their dialect. Good food, not very cheap.

Stopped here on way back home for holiday, free large carpark plus campervan overnight stay available if you eat in pub , plenty of outdoor seating available and dog friendly. Had Sunday roast which was lovely but slightly overpriced, plenty of beer selection and welcoming staff .

We enjoyed our time here, the atmosphere and people who ran the pub were lovely. The only issue we ran into was our booking was for 2:45, we didn’t get seated until around 3:15 because of the other people beforehand not hurrying. The food was delicious, the roast dinners were a good size. It did take a while for our food to come out, around an hour. So the waiting time did take a negative toll on our visit, as well as not much being available on the menus, so maybe something to let us know about what’s available and what’s not. Overall a friendly pub and the people who worked there were very helpful, just need to be a bit quicker with their service.

For me this is a local-ish pub/restaurant. Ive been here with my partner. For my work christmas meal, they’ve hosted functions for family funerals. aswell as just coming in for a drink. The service, food and atmostphere is allways consistent. The high point being the food! Topped off today with a fantastic roast me and my partner sat and enjoyed. Leaving happy with what we feel was incredible food for a more than fair price. Will definitely be back (They also catered and ammended to my partners dietry requirements without any fuss or quible)

2nd visit here. 1st was superb!! 2nd time for mother's day and oh dear!! Food was expensive and poor quality! The beef you need a chainsaw for and a bucket of water to wash it down with! The cauli cheese tasted like nothing so got a refund on that! Service was really slow also. Shame as the 1st experience was good but put off now. Pay good you should get good!

Had a lovely time at this pub with the family. Sunday roasts are briliant and great range of drinks and beers. Bar staff were friendly but rushed off their feet so service was little slow due to ow busy it was. Lovely atmosphere and views out of the conservatory. Will definitely go again

We had an excellent lunch here- mixed seafood platter for starters and steaks for main. All very well-cooked, good portions and delicious. The service was impeccable and the pub landlady was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our dog loved it there, he had his own meal from the complimentary hounds menu!

We used to always come here with family and now its become so expensive i don't think we'll be back. Such a shame. Food was ok but not worth the £18+ (lowest value meal on the menu) service was great but there were ony 4 tables to serve.

We hosted our son’s christening at the Travellers Rest last weekend and we could not recommend this place enough. Tracey & the team were incredibly helpful & accommodating from start to finish. From being really approachable in the lead up to the event, helping with decorations on the morning of, to providing an amazing buffet & all round excellent service throughout the day. They also have great outside space (& goats!) to keep the kids entertained. Would highly recommend for a private function. Thank you Tracey & team👏🏼🌟

Wow! What a meal. Booked for later in the evening but arrived earlier. Not a problem, we were told. Lovely table near the window, and drinks brought to us with water too. The meal was piping hot as if it had just come out of the oven. Lovely veg, lovely meat and lovely atmosphere. What more could you want? Cheaper? Well it was a lot cheaper than the meal we had on the other side of Pensford! Go again? Of course I will be.

Popped in after a wet dog walk on New Year’s Eve when most places had stopped serving, we were welcomed in, great choice of food, we went for the roast turkey and nut roasts which were plentiful and delicious, great service - even the dog had his own menu and went for the sausages, marvellous 😊

Mid afternoon treat for Mother. We chose turkey dinner. Average, apart from carrots, definitely rest of veg frozen.m including potatoes. Burger & chips chosen by my Husband, £19!! Two of the cheapest grizzly burgers ever. Couldn't cut or eat them. Ate Everything else on the plate as hungry. When plate was cleared expected to be asked what's up with them, but nothing. Was upset by this. Husband said, don't moan, it is what it is. So didn't moan especially as Mother with us and she would have been embarrassed. Well I'm moaning now, disgusting price for inedible burger @ £19. Won't be returning. Complete waste of money. Should have taken a photo.

Our first visit for an early evening meal sat night. Party of 4 adults and 2 children. We were made very welcome. Service very pleasant and friendly. Children’s meals came first, which we were really pleased with. The meals were served hot and a good size portion. Presented well and tasted lovely. Thank you and we recommend a visit.

It is under new ownership. We haven't been here for quite some time, so was pleasantly surprised at how they had strings of lights across the ceiling, making it feel festive. It was nice to see quite a lot of people there. The price of food is on the high side, but they do have a lite bite option for £11.50, which was more than enough for us. My husband had ham, egg and triple cooked chips, and I had fish and triple cooked chips. I don't like peas so they replaced them with tomatoes on the vine which I didn't expect! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I did have a chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert and was totally stuffed!! We would recommend.

What a little gem we found while visiting the area. The food was one of the best we had tasted in a long time. The staff were brilliant and made our dine out experience absolutely perfect!

Couldn't take photos as I left my phone in the car. After just having a bad experience in another food establishment, we were a walk in at this pub. We were greated with a friendly atmosphere. The decor was modern and amazing, totally up our street! The staff/service was knowledgeable and friendly! The food was perfect, Couldn't fault it! We will definitely be back and 100% recommend. Myself and old friends met for lunch here today. The staff were fantastic plus the food and pub itself. My friends were incredible and funny but you'll have to supply your own when you visit.

What a wonderful place, nicely decorated, great views in conservatory area, lady behind bar was nice and bubbly, quick service. I had sausages, mash and vegetables with gravy, an extra gravy boat, good quality sausages nice and tasty, mash was nice creamy consistency and vegetables delicious. Lovely atmosphere I went late afternoon so only a few people in there. I sat outside after meal, drinking my coke, taking in the scenery. Lovely definitely recommend

This is the first time we have been back since the menu change. The roasts and the cheese pie were exceptionally good. The kids really enjoyed their meals too. It was a lovely place to celebrate our grandparents wedding anniversary ❤️

Just stopped for a soft drink after a busy day. The staff gave me a jug of iced water too as I was really thirsty. Great service and very clean and well presented bar.

Nice pub just outside Bristol. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Food and drink all reasonably priced. We had 2 mains and 2 desserts and a pint of coke which all came to £41, which I thought was really good. They have a selection of sanitary products and smellies in the ladies, which was a nice touch. Plenty of parking and fab views.

Sunday lunch the beef was gristley and veg consist of peas, carrots and green beans probably (frozen) and the price for it was a shock. So we ate and left.

Under new management, this dining pub was fathers choice to celebrate his birthday. Warmly greeted and shown to our table. The food arrived and looked good, unfortunately the server had taken down the wrong order for my wife who then had to wait on the correct dish being cooked. Brother, Mother and Father all enjoyed their meal, I guess I was the unlucky one as my fish and chips were not as warm as they should have been with one side of the plate being cooler than the other?? When my wife’s correct order finally appeared she confirmed it was delicious I would and do recommend this dining pub, but would ask your server to read back what’s been ordered

We had a nice meal here today, the venison sausages and the Cajun chicken burger. The young lady serving us was just great, friendly and polite. Would recommend.

I understand the menu will be expanding as they settle in but they already have some great ideas, dog friendly and gluten free options. Definitely be going back.

Had a fab family lunch today for my mums birthday, great food and the staff were lovely and made you feel very welcomed

Called on quite by chance on a Saturday lunchtime and they had space for us. After too many disappointing chain pubs, I was delighted to remember what really good pub food is. Brilliant £10 lunch menu with a generous and well judged portion of food. Kids menu also impressive with home made chicken goujons of recognisable meat rather than minced pieces from frozen. Drinks reasonably priced and a terrific view too... What's not to love?

Always a lovely place for Sunday lunch, today was exceptional. A family celebration for 20 people, all ages. The food, the service and lovely atmosphere created by the team was so much appreciated by all of us. Thank you for a great lunch and afternoon in the sun.
