Avoid! We went in for ice cream - they had about 3 flavours out of the 15 or so advertised. They blamed delivery. When we ordered 5 they handed us 5 pathetic tiny scoops in tubs - didn’t even ask if that was ok. When we complained the manager aggressively told us “we are closing next week so running supplies down” as if we were somehow outrageous to expect cones/to be told there was no cones before we paid. It needs a good clean too inside.

Lovely spot, decent prices, it just requires some basic signage and a bit of customer service training for the staff. My husband stood patiently at the outdoor serving hatch for five minutes, being totally ignored by the staff inside despite them looking at directly him. How very odd? So we decided to pop back later. On returning we ventured inside and stood at the till conveniently placed near the ice cream counter (as that is what we were wishing to buy) to be further ignored by 3 staff... Eventually I walked further round into the cafe area and asked a member of staff mopping the floor where I could please order to take away? "here" I was abruptly told. I explained I had been waiting at two other points.. "that's just for collection". No acknowledgement, no apology, obviously I had inconvenienced her. On checking as we walked out I can confirm there is no signage near the outside hatch nor near the ice cream counter to advise they were for collection only. Great location but take your crystal ball and patience with you!

A rainy day in Weymouth led us here with 2 small kids and a puppy. Oh wow I am so pleased we found this place! Great food (Burrata salad was incredible) lovely views and the friendliest staff. Also super dog friendly, our puppy had doggie ice cream for the first time. The choice for kids meals was great too, not your standard “nuggets or margarita pizza” - then the kids got really involved in the fossils on display in the visitor centre and learned all about the history of the area. Great afternoon had by all!

As always the food and service were excellent. We had the full Taste English breakfast and the vegan breakfast. Full English was really good quality meat and accompaniments and vegan breakfast really tasty and an interesting alternative with humus falafel, and avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash brown, beans and toast. Also have a good selection of gluten free and vegan cakes.

We had coffee here last weekend. I had a soya flat white. Small cup, a lot of froth, curdled soya. I politely said when I paid- maybe the coffee was too strong? The manageress said no, the usual 4 shots! Flat white does not have 4 shots, (Google it), I would never have drunk it if I knew, it needs a health warning.

We popped into Taste after a walk along Chesil beach, we were welcomed warmly by staff who were genuinely happy and polite. We had our little dog with us who was also welcome to come inside with us to eat. The menu offered vegan and meat dishes of good selection which were all very reasonably priced. The food arrived very promptly and was fresh and present nicely. A couple of the servers took a few moments to come and chat which was nice. We would definitely eat here again.

Great food, nice location. Originally went somewhere else which was late opening then not doing food, this place was on the way back into Weymouth so we stopped on the off chance they were open and doing food. Luckily they were. Nice location on Chesil Beach, plenty of parking. Even on the limited menu they were doing there were options for everybody including vegans. The sausage and bacon sandwiches were 5 star with bread that was delicious from a bakery in Bridport, coffee was ok, OJ really good, excellent helpful, friendly staff. Yes a bit more expensive than normal but given the location and the exceptional quality of the food that’s totally understandable and on a par with other places that offer a similar product.

We popped to the Taste Cafe at Chesil Beach to use the facilities and wanted a hot cup of ‘Dorset’ tea (for a warm up) and some cake whilst we were there before we headed home after our weekend away in Weymouth. We were so impressed with the cafe. My husband’s eyes lit up looking the desserts which people were eating so he ended up ordering a sticky toffee pudding instead of a slice of cake and his face said it all, it was absolutely delicious! My ‘warm’ chocolate orange brownie was out of this world too. Our very young kiddies were made to feel very welcome too and we were accommodated with a highchair. The views are spectacular from every aspect. We will definitely return to the cafe, the whole experience was totally unexpected.

We went for lunch and had the delicious platters - seafood and vegan. Couldn’t fault them, and a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio. However, we weren’t impressed on arrival. Here are some of the rules we encountered: no dogs allowed inside, Ok we’ll sit outside. Here are the menus for outside. What about the Chef’s Specials? You can’t eat those outside. OK, we’ll have three platters from the outside menu please. Oh, you can’t eat those outside. But they’re on the outside menu? Oh, Ok then. And a bottle of wine please. No glasses allowed outside. Are you serious? Oh, OK then, but you must put your glasses back here when done.I don’t know how much of this was down to COVID, and we really appreciated the staff member bending the rules for us, but it was hardly relaxing or welcoming. Thank goodness the food was so good.

After a 2 hour journey we made a stop with the dogs. I am now feeling very foolish for ordering food. Completely overpriced!!!!! We ordered sandwiches and drinks which came to nearly £50 for 4 of us. Ok, so it is pricey! But the food was very good and for us it was a treat. The fish platter and BLT and flapjack were all faultless and clearly homemade. For the price paid you would expect comfier tables and chairs and maybe some soft furnishings? £ 7.50 for a BLT is a high end sarnie price in our book!. The service was good and location good too. You have to pay for parking on top of the exorbitant prices in the cafe! We spent an hour on Chesil beach after our meal. The staff were strict on C19 precautions which is good.

Before lock down, lots of safety measures were put in place before anywhere else we know. eg. We were asked to wait to be seated so table, chairs etc could be sanitised before we sat down. There were no condiments or other extras on table unless asked for and then sanitised before given to us. Since re-opening for takeaways only, very good distancing measures are in place, choice of food is still varied and welcome was very warm. It was our great pleasure to return for the excellent coffee, sandwiches, sausage rolls and cake. To sit by the fleet and enjoy the wildlife is also a bonus. Thank you for being there.

I visited Dorset for a long weekend last week with my husband and two sons aged 14 and 11. We were staying in Portland and, before our trip, we had researched a place to have breakfast during our stay. We came across the website for the Taste Cafe at Chesil Beach so decided to give it a go on our first morning. Everything was great from the moment we pulled up - plenty of parking and a bright and airy cafe with large viewing windows out to Chesil Beach. The cafe is inside the Visitors Centre so, while we were waiting for our food to arrive, my sons were able to wander around the Visitors Centre which was also really interesting for them. The food and service at Taste Cafe was excellent. Everything cooked freshly to order and delicious. I found the coffee was high quality and the orange juice was proper orange juice (not concentrate). It was so lovely in Taste Cafe that we went back again on our second morning. Over the course of the two mornings, we experienced Full English, Small Breakfast, Mushroom Omelette, Porridge, Bacon Baguettes as well as coffee, orange juice and apple juice. Items such as the bacon and sausages are of high quality, there were loads of mushrooms in the omelette, the baguettes used were soft and delicious and even the toast was lovely bread with real butter. Particular thanks goes to Demi who served us both mornings and was so friendly and helpful. Since returning from Dorset this week, every morning at breakfast before school my sons have said "I wish we were having breakfast at Taste!" Praise indeed! We would highly recommend and will definitely go to Taste Cafe at Chesil Beach when we next visit Dorset.

My sister & I visited Taste Cafe on our way back to our holiday home on Portland. We’ve visited several times before & love it here. It was a sunny day with very strong winds! We managed to get a window table in the sun with fabulous views north along the Fleet, which is also a great place for bird watching. Friendly service from very pleasant young woman. We ordered the Seafood Platter (£14) plus an extra side of guacamole & 2 soft drinks. The platter came on a wooden board. It held 2 large slices of smoked salmon, a pot of crayfish tails in Marie Rose sauce, a generous portion of delicious smoked mackerel pate, cod goujons, salad, a lovely crusty mixed grain baton with butter - & very nice guacamole! Perfect! The menu also contains some other very tasty regulars as well as daily ‘specials’. And if coffee & cake is all you’re after, the Dorset apple cake is also delicious. Afterwards we climbed up over the Chesil Beach & got thoroughly blown about. All in all, a lovely experience! P.s. The car park is a pay & display as the cafe is attached to an information centre & is also used by wind/kite surfers who use the harbour on the other side of the road. Highly recommended!

I am gluten free and the choice was far better than many places I have visited, I actually could be excited about eating !! Lovely environment .. friendly helpful staff and even Doggy ice cream for my hot hound !! We are from Cheltenham but come down to Poole and this area often and will definitely be stopping here again !

A visit today for lunch, we enjoyed a Steak and a Crostini Cajun Chicken. Both meals were well presented and very tasty indeed, service was pleasant and seemed very quick. Overall a welcome place to eat and relax, thanks.

Visited today for their small breakfast, 4 items from the menu and also includes toast. Friendly and speedy service, nothing too much trouble. Tasty food, beautifully cooked in a lovely setting. Many thanks..

I visited here today for lunch and I think its disgusting the way that demi, the manager, speaks to her staff. The rest of the team worked well to say how rude they were spoken to and how they were treated. As a manager they should be helping, not dictating. If I worked here and was spoken to in this way, I wouldve left.

We have eaten here many times, and always the food is delicious. The crab sandwiches are out of this world and the service superb. Great views across the fleet.

We stopped here thinking we might be able to get a sandwich and coffee and lo and behold we were greeted by a cheerful waitress who offered us an extensive lunch menu despite it being nearly 3pm. She showed us the specials board too. What a lovely meal: generous portions, really fresh and tasty with homemade mackerel pate as part of an excellent fish platter. Our compliments to the chef. Coffee was great too as were the views and the service. Superb. It made our day this great find. So nice to have a chef who cooks to order. Great steak.

Been past here so many times, but never visited before. Excellent coffee, and scrummy amaretti brownie. Quick service and friendly staff. The cafe is light and airy, and there are great views over The Fleet. Binoculars are available for a closer look at the wildlife. The Chesil Beach centre is in the same building, and worth a look around. Nice gift shop too. All together, most definitely worth a visit. Be aware that you have to pay for parking though - £1 for an hour

Can't say the food wasn't nice as it really was made to order but cheesy chips as a main and over £7 is far to much for the decoration and style of cafe. The portion of chips as an getting extra with sandwiches was the same size roughly and £3

How disappointing! really not up to standard, the hygiene is poor. CLEANING TABLES WITH POLISH! well that's a first, that does not clean the tables it just polishes. The cook was constantly picking food and dipping it to what looked like a mayonnaise tub, eating grated cheese and the list goes on, also texting on her phone, no apron or washing off hands. I think an open kitchen is sometimes not a good idea, as the floor was filthy, and the tops were messy. Even the toilet was cleaner then the kitchen. The other 2 girls were friendly, but so was the cook. Word of advice put yourself on a hygiene course.

Decent, a well needed bacon sandwich and a coffee. Obviously popular with outdoor types so can get full of hikers and watersports visitors, directy opposite a D-day museum so there payable parking nearby. I'm a semi regular visitor when I'm in the area, and have tried most of their food, ranging from a bacon sandwich, where they cooked my bacon as I liked upon request, and the large full english kept me going right through till early evening. Why only 4 stars, fix the front door! Makes me jump everytime, if you know, you know

An absolutely lovely coffee shop a hidden gem and some lovely cake! The egg custard I just had to have another slice and even gluten free cake. Tea was tasty and a really nice coffee. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable and a good laugh. Definitely coming back!
