The Lobster Pot in Weymouth and Portland

Beautiful views, excellent food, and some of the friendliest service we've received. Also a very cute gift shop with great prices.

I wouldn't go there specifically, but once you're there I recommend the crab sandwich. Delicious.

We walked from Chesil beach and arrived in time for lunch. Despite the crowds around the lighthouse we were able to get a table. I tried the crab sandwich and my husband the halloumi burger. Both were very good; I would happily order the halloumi burger the next time! The scones with cream were amazing and the pot of tea was very generous!! Despite being very busy, the staff were so friendly. Recommend stopping here, if only for tea and scones. You can get high tea which I'm sure will be very good too.

We visited on a sunny mid April afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find The Lobster Pot not too busy. We therefore chose a lovely table for two by the window. Service was friendly, and our tea and cake delicious. We opted for the local Dorset Apple Cake with clotted cream (no calories on holiday!), and were not disappointed.

Just what you need as a stop of point mid ride/walk. Hot snacks and friendly staff. Not the cheapest or biggest portions but the location is lush.

Very busy, but the friendly staff handled the numbers with ease. Food was good (we both had the fresh crab sandwiches) and reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Afternoon cream tea the scones were excellent with plenty of cream the jam was served in individual pots. Loose tea in tea pot served with strainer and sugar lumps felt very nice and quinticentually british 😉

The fish was fried to perfection. Veggie burger was huge. The kids meal was really yummy and dairy free ice cream and sticky toffee pudding too. Anita was very friendly and efficient. Food arrived really quickly and was well cooked.

Right next door to Portland bill! Great staff customer service. Indoor and outdoor eating available. Reasonable menu and pricing. Tasty food - served hot! I was recommended to visit here and I’m so glad I did. Now I will be recommending it to others. We walked in and managed to be seated Somewhere I’d definitely revisit.

We went here for a meal while we were on a Easter break. Food was amazing. My husband had the fish and chips, I had a veggie burger and two kids had a chicken burger. All of us love it. Service was amazing. My son has a nut allergy and the young lady who served us couldn't do enough to make sure my sons food was safe for him to eat. Beautiful views with great service and great food. What more could you ask for.

Today we dined at the Lobster Pot, and although the food was great the initial greeting was awful! The lady who was managing the customers prior to seating was very rude boarding on hostile! We had a young 8 year old in our company and he was shaking with the aggressive attitude of this lady ( blonde hair- red top, ) very grumpy individual - she would put you off revisiting or recommending others. We were a group of 8 at table 12 & 13. Sadly a poor experience 😔. Maybe some retraining in customer care will help!

We today dined at the Lobster Pot restaurant and enjoyed the delicious food. However, I must express my disappointment with one of the staff members. A lady with a red top and blond hair, who I suspect was a supervisor, was extremely aggressive and rude in her interactions. Her behavior made our dining experience uncomfortable and unpleasant. I believe that customer service is vital in the hospitality industry, and such behavior is unacceptable. I hope that management takes the necessary steps to address this issue to ensure that all guests have a positive and welcoming experience at the restaurant.

Great service, tasty food. Very attentive staff. My wife and I recently visited this great restaurant whilst visiting Portland Bill. We had sandwiches, but could have eaten so much more as the menu looked great. One small point, the crab sandwich I had was stuffed full of delicious crab, but for the price I would have preferred a more artisan bread. What I received appeared to be plain white sliced bread. My Wife had the cheese medley on brown bread, which similarly also wasn’t very artisan. Would definitely return when in the area again.

Staff are welcoming and smiley. Excellent cream teas. Sizeable scone. Dogs allowed. Great view of the seafrom the window but you can also eat outside if you want. Combined with walk round Portland Bill and the lighthouse it's a great way to spend the afternoon.

Stayed on Portland just last week and this place was perfect. Inside and outside seating l. A little hatch for the walkers outside. We ate here 3 times. And can't fault a thing. Great little place.

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch here on our coastal path walk around Portland. Service was quick, food was delicious, ice cream lovely. We took take away cream teas for the end of our walk and the scones were delicious.

Good food and with a very decent amount. Flavour and tasty. I ordered a Lasagna, a hot baguette, and cheesy chips. Cheese from the cheesy chips wasn't melted, my preference is to be melted, but that's a personal opinion. Lobely views from some tables facing the sea. Staff very lovely and welcoming, and decoration well done.

So glad to see this cafe open after a long and glorious walk up from Church Ope. The staff are friendly and the coffee was good - but who cares when you look out over the views from every side!

This place is situated in a beautiful spot looking out over the sea. We only ended up having ice creams as we were going to have cream teas but they only had fruit scones and I don't eat them.

Lovely freshly cooked food we ordered at the hatch as the restaurant was very busy and the weather was lovely so we sat outside. Wr had whitebait starters with a portion of chips and s lovely filled sandwich with tuna. Highly recommend a visit .

Great place for a special meal out

We arrived approximately 11am on Mother’s Day, and being those people who didn’t book a table on a busy day, we weren’t expecting to be lucky with a table! We were very happy to be squeezed in for breakfast! Staff were lovely, made a fuss of the kids, food arrived quickly, hot and was good quality. Happy kids, happy husband and of course, happy mum on Mother’s Day! Thank you :)

A lovely place to eat at the end of Portland by the lighthouse. The staff were excellent and the restaurant was immaculate. The food was very good and reasonably priced. A definite recommendation.

Honestly the worst food I’ve ever had. The burger was so depressing l I didn’t even bother to take a photo, it tasted very cheap but cost nearly £8 a carboot burger would have been 100 times better. The fish and chips were again terrible, soggy nasty tasting fish and the chips were very undercooked and tasted like oil, they had cheese on the chips and bearing in mind my other half is lactose intolerant so she couldn’t eat them. At least my dog enjoyed the awful fish. The view and drinks were fine, but for over £30 it should have been a lot better, much much better! Don’t waste your money here.

What an amazing location. It’s worth stopping in here for the views alone! The best tables are those up against the windows - you’re right by the sea and can see the waves crashing away in Winter. We were allowed to pick our own table which was nice. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the service was speedy. We ordered 2 cream teas for £7.50 each. The tea was loose leaf and came with a strainer and a spare pot of hot water and sugar cubes which was really quaint. The scones were a bit unusual and had a slightly cakier texture than taller scones I’ve had before (and I detected a hint of citrus in there - maybe orange/lemon peel?) - but clearly homemade and still very enjoyable. There’s also a very cute gift shop here if you fancy a quick look for a souvenir. Great cozy rest stop if you’ve been out walking along the coast in the bracing sea air!

Absolutely faultless. I wasn’t planning on dropping in but my hike around the island went faster than planned and despite looking super busy when I arrived (always a good sign a business is going well), they still managed to find a table for me on my own right at the front overlooking the sea. Great food, warm and welcoming employees and lovely location. Definitely worth a visit

The lobster pot is one of those places as soon as you walk in, you feel relaxed. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The food we found was very good with reasonable portions. We always return and will continue to do so

We stopped here for lunch after a walk around the coast. We’ve eaten here several times over the years and it has always been good. The staff are friendly and the views are fantastic. The service is efficient and our meals were lovely.

A lovely welcoming place with a great menu variety to suite the whole family! The views are lovely here and worth sitting and taking them in while eating. A gift shop is incorporated within the restaurant with some nice gift ideas to take home with you.

If you are going to visit Portland Bill then take a picnic rather than pay the extortionate prices for dreadful food served here. Staff were lovely, service was fine but what they had to serve was poor quality.

Getting more expensive for smaller portions over the years. Come on! £12.50 for a crab sandwich on relatively thin bread, a few crisps and very small amount of salad leaves. £6.20 for pot of tea for two with small cups. All this does is scares the locals off. I probably won't go again. CRABS are not in short supply!

Had a very quiet light lunch in this small idiotic cafe, which has wonderful friendly staff. The coffee was hot and not too strong, and the soup was homemade and very tasty. The view over the ocean is devine, and very peaceful.

We had the most fantastic welcome and ordered a cream tea. Wow the scone was warm, light and fluffy and all round just delicious. The waitress we had was super smiley and made us feel very welcomed.
