Liberty Tea Parlour & Cocktail Bar in Torbay

Stopping off for morning coffee was a very different experience to when we visited the same week for evening drinks and was excellent (reviewed separately). The wait for the drinks to reach our table was unacceptable and when they did arrive my cappuccino was mostly froth, very little liquid! My husband said he heard the lady on the next table saying exactly the same thing. Wouldn't recommend for coffee. A pet hate of mine is when cakes are displayed without prices as was the case here.

This was a really good find. Staff were efficient and friendly and you cannot beat the location. The cocktails were delicious and freshly made, prices were quite reasonable as well. I was spoilt for choice with the amount of cocktails on offer!

This is a great cocktail bar. Staff are very friendly, decor amazing and cocktails full of alcohol and not watered down. Amazing venue.

This is a lovely bar with a most amazing ceiling. We sat outside on the terrace facing the harbour. They bring your order across to you. We had a good coffee and two pieces of tiramisu cake and pistachio cake. It was excellent

I've written two separate reviews as one is for morning coffee and one is for evening drinks as the experiences were very different and hard to rate together. Evening drinks - we enjoyed our evening here, the atmosphere and decor were good and my cocktails were really great and the staff were friendly. Unisex toilets a little snug though and not user friendly when busy, however not sure how they get round this.

Stopped for some refreshments and Bebea served us. Several cocktails later I was very relaxed. Bebea made my cocktails to order and made us feel so welcome, I just wanted to stay. All of the staff were working hard to serve and keep everyone happy. The bar and outdoor seating area was very inviting and I had a great visit. I’ll be back for more next weekend. Thanks B.

Have been a couple of times now for lunch / coffee and cake and like all of the associated establishments in the bay, we are always happy with the service and standard of food/drink. Unfortunately this time we left disappointed. Firstly (and I appreciate it is busy) I was second in the queue to be served and it took 15 minutes to have my order taken. Just 1 person behind the bar taking orders and serving drinks. One person serving food and drinks to both inside and outside seating. One of the male staff (normally works in the outside bar) turned up but ignored the extending queue. Once served the food then took anther 30 minutes to arrive (it was 2 paninis), the server apologised for the wait but it would have been nice to have been told about the delay at the point of order. We ordered chicken and bacon and they were very poor indeed. I don't remember the paninis being filled with mushed chicken and bacon, it was as if it had come out of a jar. My wife remarked that she had been given the wrong order as she thought it was tuna! The tortilla chips are bland and cardboard like. the side salad and coleslaw were delicious and we used these to fill the panini with. A real shame that as the season is now upon us and it will only get busier, that the number of staff doesn't look like they can cope with the demand and the food seems to be suffering.

From the outside this looked like just a cocktail bar but whilst standing waiting for my son and mom in the rock shop next door I had time to read the menu and decided to stop for lunch…. So glad we did !! This is a fabulous little cafe with a great menu, we had the crab sandwich, a scone, coffee, tea and a milkshake which were all amazing and served on matching plates, cup, teapot and spoon, such a lovely touch. I wish I weren’t driving because the cocktails being served looked out of this world and I will definitely return to try them. Decor is beautiful and the toilet are spotless and well presented.

I popped in a couple of times this week. Both Rob & Jack were very professional yet super friendly. I tried a couple of cocktails & my favourite is the Bounty Mudslide - highly recommended for a sweet tooth. Thank you!

Whow, what an amazing place. We went in for coffee and when we saw the cakes, we could not resist... It had a lovely atmosphere, so clean and the staff very friendly... Will definatly be going back soon.

Out with a group of 10 friends and called in here for a cream tea. So friendly and immediately found space for us all. Scones were amazing - best I’ve tasted - light and warm served with lovely jam and cream.

What a great find! Highly recommend this bar, great section of cakes and savouries, hot drinks and huge selection of alcohol. Interior is just “fabulous darling” , so interesting, very quirky, loved it. Staff great, can’t thank Maxine enough, trying to assist and soften our blow after our little accident. Even called their sister company Prince William (Bar & Waterfront Terrace) to book us a table - again we’ll worth the visit food was incredible. Thank you Maxine will definitely call in next time we’re down.

Went in for lunch at 12:00 on 1st Feb. Stood for 15min at the counter waiting to be served, decided to not bother after being ignored by the staff. Told one of them we were going & she said “There’s only 2 of us, it is what it is” Hopeless!

Sadly we had a totally vile experience with Crab Sandwiches. Firstly I hate leaving negative reviews but I gave them the option of ringing me with an explanation. The waitresses were charming hard working gals with a party in so naturally I didn't complain in the restaurant. The lady that I spoke to who asked senior management to ring me straight away and didn't also said " nobody else has complained" which infuriates me. She also said you don't know what price crab is. I was able to tell her as I had just bought some super fresh crab from the market! Anyway the crab was NOT Brixham hand picked crab. It was in fact long life pasteurised blown crab. Furthermore it tasted particularly old. OK some people probably don't no the difference but I was the customer and had I been told what it was I would not have ordered it. Sorry about this but it gives Brixham a bad reputation.

Amazing little place what a hidden gem. Friendly staff that do great cocktails at very reasonable prices. Such a cool little place and with lovely decor, we were so pleased we went in. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area 😀😀

Visited Liberty today with my wife for the first time. Was immediately impressed by the beautiful and classy decor and sat in the 'Naughty Corner'! Was served by the super friendly and helpful Maxine who made us feel at home. You must try the teacakes with your coffee! Such as smart establishment and we are hooked so will be regular visitors on our frequent trips to Brixham. Finally, you must check out the amazingly smart and highly stylish toilets - the kind you might expect is a 5*+ hotel!

This was our 4th time visiting Liberty’s, it’s one of our musts when in Brixham. We love their cocktails and the overall vibe in there. It’s great that they allow dogs! Whilst it is still very busy and there is a wait on drinks, we think it’s worth it. The staff are lovely, there’s not really anything like it either, especially that allow dogs. We just wish it was a bigger place. To accommodate more guests, have extra space near the bar etc.

Really enjoyed our lunch at Liberty, good location on harbyside to sit, eat and drink and watch the world go by. Pleasant atmosphere and we were able to take out little dog in as well. The food and drinks were good and good value, the staff quietly efficient and friendly 😀

We go to Liberty's quite often for lunch and a glass of wine. The food, wine and service are all very much to our liking, the atmosphere welcoming and the place very well managed.

We were refused entry at 12.15 am despite the website saying the establishment was open until 12.30 am.

Lovely wacky eccentric place, right on the habourside. Packed fresh crab sandwich and a wonderful mushroom and cheese toastie, loose leaf lapsing tea and a cocktail for the lady! Popped in several times over the days we were in Brixham coz it was so quirky, nice and fun. Everything was very good!

Popped in at lunchtime for a drink with my parents whilst visiting to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and huge selection of cocktails. Music just a little too loud for chit chatting.

A real gem in our home town and we are so lucky to have an amazing establishment such as this. 3 real highlight's to Liberty; The décor is fantastic the quality of the food and cakes is one of the best in Torbay and the staff are so friendly and efficient. Special thanks to Maxine the Manager she is brilliant. Very attentive and creates a great team spirit. Look forward to going back soon and supporting our local business after the busy summer tourist season.

Brilliant food, atmosphere and quirky art deco interior with views of the harbour plus excellent courteous service from Saul , pictured, and others made this a memorable stand out experience in our Holiday in Devon.

Best cream tea and sandwiches I’ve had not sure what tea it was but it was excellent,wished I ask what tea leaves they were when left.

Sat on the Terrace, late September afternoon, overlooking the Golden Hind, whilst a Seagull on the post next to us, kept a beady eye on Mum’s Apple Cake. The cocktails were expertly prepared and presented - thank you Eliza! - and were very much enjoyed....

Stopped off here for a morning coffee .If I would have noticed before paying then I wouldn't have bothered as the coffee is from a vending type machine and hence lacked any flavour at all ( cappuccino)
