Best takeaway in Chepstow, New owners have definitely adapted well to the restrictions of lockdowns, We always order through Just-eat and have our Fish and chips delivered, Never had a problem with them friendly delivery driver and food always yummy and hot.
Myself and my family have eaten in pretty much every Caribbean restaurant in Bristol (Caribbean Croft, Rice n Things, Biblos, Bikkle Island, Turtle Bay, Glen’s Kitchen, Vybz’s, Chef Watson and a few more). This was our first time ordering at Mamma P’s and we were a little nervous.
We ordered 2 large Curry Goat, 2 large brown stewed chicken, 2 plantain, 4 fried dumplings, coleslaw, cornmeal porridge. It was a £42 order so we spent quite a bit of money here.
- Negative
Having had our order accepted via Just Eat, I was surprised to get a phone call from the restaurant to advise that they had run out of brown stewed chicken, so could only fulfil one order. To be fair they did offer us an alternative, but as they had also run out of Jerk Chicken, the only other chicken they could offer us was fried. I agreed for this to be substituted, but only as there was no other option. i wish they would keep their online menu updated so this wouldn’t happen.
- Positives
The food portions were a good size, the food was warm and tasted amazing. Will definately eat here again, hopefully next time they will be able to fulfil our order in it’s entirety. This is the only reason why i am not giving them 5/5 this time.
No dislikes great place great food would go again great not far from were we live went for Sunday lunch friendly staff not to long to wait for food very popular place would remedy
As usual, the food is fresh and delicious, reasonably priced, the service is excellent and the people are lovely. As a regular customer here we always get such a nice welcome too. The best restaurant for miles.
I recently visited Tomato & Basil Pizzeria and had a mixed experience that’s worth sharing for anyone considering a meal there.
To start, I ordered the jalapeño cheese balls, which were unfortunately disappointing. They arrived cold in the middle and had that unmistakable texture and taste of something microwaved from frozen. Definitely not fresh, which was a letdown given they sounded like a great appetizer on the menu.
For the main, I had a cheese base pizza topped with goat cheese, halloumi cheese, onions, and peppers. The pizza itself was cooked well with a nicely baked crust and a good balance of toppings. However, it could have really benefited from more cheese on the base, which felt a bit sparse and slightly dry in some bites.
The cutlery was another low point as mine was noticeably dirty, which really detracted from the dining experience. On the positive side, they did serve nicely chilled water, which was a pleasant and refreshing touch.
The ambience of the restaurant was one of its stronger points. It is well laid out with a thoughtful design and good background music that made for a relaxing atmosphere.
Tomato & Basil isn’t a bad place to stop by for a quick pizza, especially if you’re nearby and want a casual bite at a decent price. The interior is welcoming and the vibe is enjoyable. That said, there are definitely better pizza spots along Gloucester Road when it comes to both quality and consistency.
The potential is there, but attention to detail, particularly with food freshness, presentation, and cleanliness, would go a long way in improving the overall experience. A decent option, but not one I’d rush back to, but wouldn't rule out not going again.

Fantastic place, spacious, bright and airy.
Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, especially Alisha who took care of our table. Very attentive and happy! Food was great, cocktails were great and kept flowing without having to wait. Perfect way to start a Saturday!
Called here again on holiday after a great experience last year.
It was just as good. Great food and service.
We booked a dog friendly table and they are well catered for families with dogs, even having a dog menu!
You won't be disappointed if you call here.
Really lovely staff. Nice super colourful decor - the blue windows really stand out (in a nice way) compared to neighbouring buildings. Prices are good. Food isn't great to be honest - we had a combination of dishes but none were particularly well flavoured so can't say I would recommend or visit again unfortunately...
I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday treat. Amazing food. Lovely and kind ice cream gesture at the end when staff knew it was my birthday! 😊 Highly recommend
