Drgnfly Pan-Asian Restaurant & Bar in Poole

Really aesthetically pleasing as soon as you walk in it really gives you the oh wow !!!! We went on a Sunday evening so it wasn’t busy and by the end we were in our own . Food was ok , the sushi was delicious , but the steak for the price of it was a little lack lustre . Service is good and friendly .

Great to see Dragonfly Ashley cross back open, same fantastic Chef and team with a warm fantastic front of house. 👌🙌🍽🍹🍸🍾❤️❤️

Sadly not 5* as although has not disappointed previously there were shortcomings this time. Food was very good, but with the exception of beef skewers with overcooked meat so not tender. Despite reporting this and being told it would be made known to the chef there was no inclination to adjust the bill..something we could have pressed further. Sadly service also a little short, as one of us had to wait far longer than necessary for a cider, needing reminding, and one of our small plates didn't arrive at all, until prompted and hastily delivered with the main. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, but we were all 'lovelies' and 'dears', which I find a bit OTT, personal thing. Finally, well aware of the norm, but I wish places didn't slap 12.5% "optional' service charges on regardless.

Excellent food, best Mia thai we've had. The setting is beautiful. Free champagne as our table wasn't quite ready. To long wait between mains and desserts. Definitely treat as tapas so you can try lots of the food.

What a fantastic lunch today at Drgnfly. Hosted by the unflappable Lauren who was not only a wonderful floor manager and server. She simply navigated the day sublimely. Joshua on the bar gave us a wonderful glimpse of the homemade syrups and bases for the cocktails and we were delighted with the Champane Mojitos. The food was beautifully plated and delicious. We had the Aidan Gyoza (Crispy duck dumpling's), Shio Kosho (salt and pepper squid), Dynamite Shrimp, Firecracker Sushi, the Sushi platter for 2, and Sake Teriyaki. Dessert platter for two… berry cheesecake, brownie, Matcha bites and Matcha pancakes…

5 days ago I posted a warning review that Dragonfly was closed...But I am now updating that as they are definitely open and have just booked to eat there on Saturday. The Dragonfly has to be my favourite restaurant as the food is consistently superb! Excellent wine, as well as cocktails and good rest room facilities. My most favourite restaurant of all time!! Highly recommend and just so pleased that they are open again.

Would not touch this place if it was the last place to eat on earth, after closing the Dorchester restaurant an running away without paying the staff in some cases they owe staff 2 months wages what a bunch of low life's.

Disaster: restaurant was closed when we arrived, despite having confirmed our booking. We live 2 hours from the Poole branch and wanted a very special restaurant for a friend’s milestone birthday. We booked our table several months in advance. The day before our booking I received a phone call late in the afternoon saying the restaurant had been closed for refurbishment (I hadn’t been warned about this when I booked) and that the reopening had been delayed - our booking was cancelled. Later that day I booked a table online with the Dorchester branch. I received a booking confirmation by email. We travelled 2.5 hours to Dorchester, only to discover that this branch has closed down permanently. I do not understand why the restaurant is still accepting and confirming bookings and is shown as open on the website. Very disappointing and upsetting.

Book a table on 13 August for two on fri 30th August, we received a confirmation email. Then on Tuesday 27th August, three days before booked date of our meal. We received a phone call say, it was cancelled as it was getting decorated. I really think this was a very bad service and we should not of received a conformation email. I find it difficult to believe that on the weekend of the airshow and still in holiday season, a restaurant would closed to be decorated.

Took a deposit on a booking in the Dorchester branch on the 23rd for a meal on the 24th when they knew they were closed. Clearly don't care at all about their customers. Avoid like the plague, never had such a bad restaurant experience.

10 of us came in for a birthday, service was excellent and attentive. We had a few issues with our preorder that translated to some missing dishes but Belinda and the other staff were quick to rectify issues and provided great service throughout. All good was beautifully presented and very tasty, and the cocktails were all lovely!

Exceptional Asian food. I'd recommend sticking with the small plates and treating it like tapas. Beautiful restaurant with great staff looking after us. You won't be disappointed!

This was our first time visiting Drgnfly.. as soon as you walk through the door your experience begins, the decor is absolutely stunning throughout the restaurant and even down to the cutlery and dishes served. The service from start to finish was fantastic. The food was absolutely faultless, between the 6 of us we had the Pork Ramen, Katsu Prawns, Katsu Chicken, Yakiudon and Yakisoba… Sides - Salt and Pepper chips (a must have) - every dish was a cooked to a very very high standard. I’m not normally too worried about puddings but the dessert platter for 2 was INCREDIBLE - definitely worth a try! For the high quality service and food, the prices very reasonable, I have paid a lot more elsewhere for a lot less quality. Thank you Kaito and Karly for the great experience we had with you - see you again very soon.

First time at drgnfly yesterday evening. Ordered duck dumplings, char sui bao, salt and pepper squid and a tonkotsu ramen. Had 2 cocktails, a glass of red and a glass of rose. Everything was delicious, arrived promptly and with immaculate service. Will definitely return for more!

The food was absolutely outstanding but the service let it down a bit We asked three times for table water and it finally Came Once we were on our desserts I think we were just unlucky as we honestly cannot fault the food but it took 20 mins for an initial Drink order to be taken and the service didn’t improve - there were only 6 of us and we are anything but impatient but it did put a dampener on the evening unfortunately.

The restaurant has a really good ambience and looked posh, food is really good and not that expensive as we would have expected because of how the interior of the restaurant looked, Margaret who served us and a fellow filipina was really nice and was able to also share to us places to go in the area since it was our first time in Poole. Excellent service from her. Will definitely come again if given the chance.

What a lovely graduation meal. I ordered the spring maki which was so fresh and fruity and the tofu teriyaki donburi which was smoky and came with miso soup. Our server was so lovely and couldn’t help us enough. She even gave me a complimentary glass of Prosecco as a congratulations! (Highly appreciated). This is the second time I have visited Drgnfly Pan Asian in Poole and certainly won’t be the last. The vegan options are incredible so fingers crossed they will add even more in the future! Thank you to our waitress for making the experience so lovely.

Such a beautiful restaurant! We came here for dinner and their menu is amazing! You'd need to wait up to 20mins for the sushis as they're freshly handmade 👌🏻 Korean style Pork belly starter is my favorite so so good. The duck main was a disappointment for me - undercooked hence very chewy but the dessert platter with matcha bites and brulee are perfect. I'd like to try their ramen and curry when I come next time.

Gorgeously decorated resturant with a lovely evening ambience. Service was initially slow due to the venue being packed on a thursday evening, however our waitress Signe was very accomodating and ensured we were looked after. We had a lovely chat with her once it had quietened down, which added to the comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We were also provided complimentary drinks for our celebration. We would highly reccomend the salt & pepper squid, as well as beef skewers for starters, as well as the dessert platter for 2.

Belinda and team took care of us (a large group of 20+) in the red room. We were celebrating and the team didn't disappoint! We had the Ikugai and Yasai sharing platters and plenty of drinks flowing. Belinda and staff were very attentive and accomodating. The food was delicious and plentiful, drinks were arriving quickly and the service was very friendly. Have recommended previously, and will continue to recommend everyone to come and visit this wonderful restaurant. Waited 20 mins for a drink as they forgot my order. There was also a live insect in the drink due to flowers being added, the waitress was then quite rude about removing service charge because of it. Food was good but disappointing experience.

Food superb, if you're prepared to wait 30 mins for your starter and almost an hour for your main. I would also suggest checking your bill. Added drinks that we didn't have. For a first experience no great. Would I come back, probably as the food was pretty good. However must improve service levels.

I have visited Drgnfly for lunch several times with my young granddaughter. We both love it here. There is a fantastic menu choice, and the food is always beautifully cooked. The service is friendly and efficient. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Went here off the back of Trip Advisor reviews and we weren’t disappointed. It was busy for a Monday night, we were welcomed warmly and served by Karly, who was very good. The food was excellent, well cooked & tasted fresh. Would definitely recommend the lobster & prawn toast, it’s exceptional. They have a good drinks menu with Sake & Umeshu (which was beautiful). It’s a shame we’re not local as we’d come again!

First time visited last week for a special day with my partner. Jennie's customer service was outstanding and took time to explain the menu and provided recommendations! Jennie was very attentive to our needs and overall made the evening fabulous for our visit.. Customer service made me feel at ease and food - that is just other worldly! Soo good! We came here to celebrate my Mother in law's 80th birthday. We had a great meal, and were seated in a curtained off private area, that made it feel extra special and intimate. We had a combination of meat, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes, which the staff explained very carefully to us. It made for a very special evening.

There is a reason that this is a top rated restaurant. It's perfect. The service is impeccable. Attentive but not intrusive, wall to wall smiles and efficiency. The food is ridiculous. So many gorgeous nibbles. I wolfed it down. It's expensive but good value. Beautiful inside. And manages to be impressive but cosy. Honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. Try the pork belly if you go... it's incredible.

We got treated like royalty and the service was amazing especially by Karly. The sushi was amazing - probably the best we have had both in Bournemouth and Poole to say the least.. Matter of fact all the dishes we ordered were just brilliant. The Gyozas and even the egg fried rice was uniquely delicious. Definitely found the best pan Asian restaurant in BCP !

DRGNFLY was highly recommended by everyone at my workplace as my colleagues know my wife is a Japanese cuisine aficionado while I am the whisky buff. So here we go… We were pleasantly impressed with this establishment, my wife and I rate the ambience a 10 on 10, the service was exceptional (a 11 on 10) and the value for money is a 10 on 10 too. Now, for the food, 1) The prawns tempura was good, the batter could have been a touch less(personal preference) , what would have made it an authentic experience for us is the sauce, I feel they should have used the Dashi or Mentsuyu which usually pairs perfectly. So a 8/10 for us. 2) The Sushi platter was a 10 on 10, the presentation was on point and quite artsy. (I personally like a strong wasabi blend but I do understand they would have a mild version to suit the palate of the patrons) 3) The Char Siu Ramen was a 7 on 10, what was impressive about it was the well cooked Pork, the seaweed was perfect and the flavours were on point. If we had to rate the presentation, it was definitely a 10 on 10. What would have made it perfect for us was the noodles as it felt like instant noodles instead of the ramen noodles we are used to. 4) The whisky, well, they do have a good selection, what I would have loved personally is if they had more Japanese whiskys, they should consider to stock up on Yamazaki and Hibiki which are excellent. ( I have to add, I was impressed with our host who actually listened to the feedback and encouraged us to share what could be improved on) Overall, our experience was an 8 out of 10, we would visit them again for sure and we definitely recommend this establishment for someone who has yet to experience a Japanese fine dining experience. To the staff working here, you guys are simply superb, keep up your exceptional work and thank you for taking care of us.

Very disappointing. Extensive menu, but difficult to see how it can serve all ingredients from fresh. Key ingredients were either in very small portions or overwhelmed by fillers and/or sauces. A pretty average vibe, although it was a quietish Wednesday night. Service is ok, but does not warrant the 12.5% charge added to the bill, which was very high (£138 for 2 diners) for what we received. Unlikely to return.

Outstanding food as always! I've been at various times and the food is excellent. Although we were late, the restaurant still served us. We were given complimentary champagne as we were celebrating a graduation. Our servers were very kind, attentive and made us feel so welcome. Overall, it was another great experience!

Spending a few days in Poole and we struggled to find any decent food in the town, or in the Quay area, however a 5 minute bus ride to Ashley Cross and you have excellent Japanese food. If you're vegetarian or vegan there's a huge choice, and everything we ordered was delicious.The staff were very helpful too. Highly recommended.

Went to Drgnfly for my partners birthday dinner. What a disaster!!!. Firstly the waitress who took our order arrived after 20 minutes to inform us that one of the starters we had ordered wasn’t available. After a further 50 minute wait, while observing that all tables that had arrived after us had been served,, I asked about our order. Within 3 minutes of doing this our mains arrived. I informed them that we were waiting on starters. Oh was the answer. Then another waitress/manager came out to inform us that the kitchen was unaware of our starter order. We were then offered the starters we had ordered.. The waitress who took our order came out and also apologised. But it was too late. The special evening, a special birthday celebration was ruined. We ate half of the mains and asked for the bill. £91 down the drain. Total disaster and no offer of any compensation. Amateurs!!!

Really nicely decorated place, lovely atmosphere and busy on a weekday evening. We had various sushi dishes - sashimi was very nice, the other dishes were closer to average.

We visited as a party of four on a Sunday evening in October. The restaurant appears to be a an old bank building or similar very smart and well-maintained. Internally the decor has an elegant Asian vibe. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay; efficient but unrushed. There's a wide menu, Japanese enriched with wider Asian fusion, and everything was really good. Two of our party had spent 10 years in Tokyo and they were impressed. We'll definitely visit again when we're in the area.

Booked a table of 5 for my birthday dinner. We were promptly seated then immediately asked for drinks orders before even being offered a drinks menu or water. After we had ordered drinks we were being rushed into ordering some food, every two minutes different waiters coming and asking if we are ready to order (at least 7 times). After we did order and the food was brought out, we were then just forgotten about and nobody came over anymore to check if we needed any more drinks (4 out of 5 glasses were empty) or if the food was ok. (It was- but no one checked). After we had finished dining, we still had empty glasses and had to wait 20+ minutes until we eventually stopped a waiter walking past and asked if we could order more drinks. The drinks then took another 15 minutes to come. It was also very disappointing that although we had mentioned on the booking itself that it was for my birthday, there was no acknowledgement of this (I have been before and had received a plate with ‘happy birthday’ written on it in some kind of sauce with a sparkler). My sister even went to ask the woman working on the front desk and received a standoffish attitude back saying no. When the £235 bill came, it even listed ‘birthday plate £0.00’ on it!!! That really let the evening down. The interactions with the staff themselves were great, they were very polite and personable but the actual level of service of being rushed to order and then totally forgotten about really dampened what could have been a fantastic evening.

I just have ordered sushi on Uber eats this evening. The sushi was delicious! BUT! I haven't got any soy sauce... I have been ordering a lot from Drgn Fly and never had this issue. Good, that I had soy sauce in my cupboard, unless this would be a disaster... Sorry. I love my sushi with a good soy sauce.

The food is VERY Japanese rather than pan-Asian. For example there are no Indian, Thai or Malay dishes. The flavours are quite strong. Really enjoyed the firecracker prawns and my wife loved the pork bao buns. The orange chicken was a bit too acidic and gave me indigestion. When ordering the waitress said that dishes usually come out from the kitchen when ready, but we explained that we would like all the starters brought out together, then mains the same. All was fine with the starters but 2 of our group were left waiting 20 minutes longer than the others for their mains, and as we waited to be polite, our food was going cold. We had yo chase for the missing mains. In the end they refunded 2 mains. Service started good but as the evening went on the staff were hard to find. I had to take the wine back to the bar to ask for ice to be put in the bucket. We also had to find a waiter to order dessert and coffee. We hoped for a better experience. It's quite expensive, but the decor and ambiance is nice. Definitely a restaurant for Japanese food lovers.

The place is beautifully decorated. The Menu has lots of fabulous dishes on it. We had a lovely meal. The wine was good the service very friendly. They did forget one of our dishes but we're quick to resolve that. If in Poole again would definitely revisit.

I don't normally leave reviews but I have to for this as it's my favourite restaurant of all time! Came here for a special occasion initially as it's pricier than other local options. However, I have now been back many times as it's worth every penny and I'd far rather pay a bit more for something I know is going to be amazing!! The ambiance, service and food are all outstanding. Despite the fact it is often packed you are taken such good care of. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff go above and beyond to make you feel thoroughly spoilt. I have been back a few times now with family and friends and everyone I've gone with has been blown away. It really is exceptional!
