We both had the porterhouse and they were cooked to perfection. Very tasty! The garlic potatoes were amazing too - and I'm not a huge potato fan. Service was also excellent and the meal was very well priced. Good choice of background music which really enhanced the atmosphere. Overall, very impressed.

We love the cosy, romantic feel of the restaurant. All the food is reliably amazing every time, particularly the steak. Service is prompt and polite, and we felt well looked after.

Went for lunch with my wife on valentines day. The chap that was on duty (Karl) was so lovely and attentive. He was knowledgeable and respectful of our space. We opted for the sharing experience which i would recommend to any who ask. The 3 cuts of steak (fillet, ribeye & sirloin) were all cooked impeccably. The sauces (we chose bernaise and red wine jus) were delicious the onion rings were outstanding massive, crispy and not at all oily. We opted to add the seasonal vegetables which consisted of carrots, broccoli and leeks and were a welcome addition. We managed to squeeze in some puddings which again were beautiful. I've already recommend this place to some friends and am already looking forward to getting back for a dinner date.

Quality steak cooked perfectly at a very reasonable price. The peppercorn sauce was delicious too. The waiter Karl was knowledgeable and friendly, he was right to recommend the chocolate mousse! It was somehow light but not too aerated.

The Herd steak restaurant is quite possibly my all time favourite steak restaurant. The food was absolutely incredible and reasonably priced. The wine was amazing and the customer service was incredible. The waiter was very informative on how much we should order as we went for a sharing plater and it was a perfect amount! The restaurant is situated in a very cool located - sort of underground! The sauces were also amazing and the onion rings were delicious. I will definitely be returning!

The steaks are so goooood! Love the taste of each steak in the sharing platter. Karl is very nice and can speak Chinese quite well! As a Chinese I felt welcomed. Gonna come here again!

High recommend a visit to Herd restaurant, I tried for the first time yesterday after visiting the roman baths. The food/steaks were out of this world. I was accompanied by guests from Italy and they were also blown away with the food quality.....

We had a great dinner meal here at Herd Bath. We order a steak in plate and the sharing platter. Very delicious and was so good. Everything about it was perfect. The place quiet and nice. I highly recommend this steak restaurant anyone visiting Bath.

We ordered the herd's legendary sharing platter when we went. It was a great opportunity to try their array of local steaks and their amazing steak sauces. I really recommend the peppercorn sauce which was incredibly smooth and creamy. I should note that the restaurant, while well located, is quite warm as it is in the basement of a building but it is well decorated and a lovely place to spend a date night or a special occasion.

Steaks are always cooked perfectly to your request here. The service is always exceptional, thank you to our server Karl who went above and beyond. We ordered: 2x 10oz Ribeye with extra marbling (medium) Peppercorn Sauce Onion Rings Rosemary and Garlic potatoes.

Only thing I didn't like was the service charge that is automatically applied to your bill. I like to tip when based on the experience, not have that presumed. Food was nice, not mind blowing. Service was excellent at first, slow when filling up.

As part of a planned pre-Christmas break we researched Steak restaurants in Bath, settling on the The Herd. I’d strongly suggest you book ahead as we wouldn’t have got a table otherwise! We consider ourselves something of Fillet Steak nerds, I will refrain from claim in my to be experts but let’s just say we’ve experienced many over the years!! So, is this place any good? Yup. Simple as that. My wife always orders her fillet “Medium” which more often that not is perfect for me too, but on occasion I will order “Medium-Rare” for myself just to compare them and sure enough this time hers was cooked-through just that extra bit! You struggle to beat Herefordshire or Aberdeen Angus Beef, it’s great quality. Our steaks had excellent flavour. Staff were found to be friendly and attentive.

Fabulous steak place. Service was attentive helpful and super friendly. The food was delicious. We had ribeye steaks with creamed spinach and chips. The meat was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend.

Had a great birthday meal here. Our waiter Karl went out of his way to make it special, singing happy birthday and bringing us a a small desert. The food was as good as usual and I recommend the sharing platter and the mushroom and brandy sauce. The other sauces are good but not as good.

Highly recommended place, book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Hidden treasure in Bath, a great set up with top quality food and even better service. The waiter was knowledgeable and the manager was top class, coming to check on us throughout the meal making sure everything was satisfactory, every step of the way. We had Ribeye steaks with an excellent Malbec and it was perfect. A must go when in Bath!

An excellent steak dinner in a fascinating little restaurant, it feels like a bit of a labyrinth getting down the stairs to it but trust me that it's worth it! We had mini Caesar salads to start that were so fresh and tasty, I had the porterhouse with twice-cooked chips and the blue cheese sauce that was cooked perfectly, and the blue cheese sauce was perfectly balanced! My wife had the ribeye with the garlic mushrooms and garlic butter sauce to equally raving review! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was great. We will definitely consider coming back if we're in the area again!

Quite expensive. For what we had served to us a mediocre plate of over cooked chips and the onion rings were over done and hard.steak was cooked correctly. But when you are spending 120plus for two plates of food.you expect a little something special.but sadly this was not the case. Won't be a returning customer.

It’s a bit of a mission from God to get to the restaurant - more steps than you can shake a stick at 😁 but it’s well worth it - Excellent food, steak was magnificent and the service great. If you want fillet steak eat at the Herd.

The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the different cuts of meat without being snooty about it like some other fancy steak places can be. They were great at advising about gluten free options and even put a little birthday candle in my fiancé's pudding for him. The food was just ridiculously delicious, lovely pinot grigio, great atmosphere- a real gem! If you're celebrating something and want somewhere that feels upmarket yet intimate this is the place. Serious food coma afterwards in the best way, strongly recommend the peppercorn sauce and wearing your loose trousers 🤣🥰

When ever we are in Bath we always go to The Herd. This is our favourite steakhouse and we wish we could visit more often! All the staff are very attentive and make your meal even more enjoyable! I do suggest that you book a table as The Herd is very popular. We booked early on a Monday and by the time we left the restaurant was full! We will definitely be returning!

Cellar restaurant that really knows how to do a steak!

My partner and I booked a table at 21:00 on a Friday, despite the late booking the restaurant was full making a nice vibrant atmosphere. We had Josh, Karl and Ewelina look after us and made the meal all the more enjoyable! We had the steak sharer platter and despite the photo making it look small it made us full to the brim. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were phenomenal. Would 100% recommend and would eat again!

Omg!...hands down one of the best steaks I've ever ever had!!...I was actually sad when I finished it!..😂...my partner and I booked in on the 25/10/24, after we read some reviews and we can honestly say that we are so glad we got to experience this place. If you go to Bath and you love steaks, then this is the place to go!!...Amazing food, fantastic service, and a great atmosphere...☺️☺️☺️

The herd is my favourite steak restaurant, I have been several times and if I feel like eating out here's the place. When people ask where my favourite place is to eat I tell them here. I describe the environment, how quaint and welcoming it is. The exciting slogans as you walk down the stairs into the restaurant, not to mention the food. The steak is unreal, all types I recommend, always cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The servers are always lovely. Today we had Karl, very pleasant, checked in and made sure our time there was perfect. I can definitely understand why so many people adore it here, the service, the food, the environment, in the heart of bath with a heart of it's own! Forgot to take a picture before we started but many thanks none the less!

Only go to this restaurant if you are ready to be very well attended and eat a steak so good that just the smell would be able to convert a vegan

We had a brilliant lunch at Hers this Saturday. The team, Karl and Josh were fabulous and very welcoming. The cocktails were great, my husband loved his old fashioned. We had the sharing platter with our kids plus a few extras (which was wise as we hardly got a look in). Honestly, we love a steak and this platter was simply delicious, the fillet and rib-eye were knockout. We have already started planning our next day out as we are dreaming of that melt in the mouth fillet. It’s was all amazing and the desserts were also fantastic . We will be back soon. Thanks guys

We came to The Herd without any expectations as we have been disappointed with steaks across Cornwall and Cotswold. We ordered the share platter medium rare and the meat was cooked to perfection. The only criticism would be that it was hard to distinguish between the two sauces, pepper-corns and mushroom and brandy. The rocket and parmesan salad paired well providing some colour to our plates. The Cab Sav went very well with the dish. Overall 10/10!!!

Sharing steak platter was absolutely delicious. The platter consists of Steak fillet, sirloin and ribeye which were all perfectly cooked. Along with the platter you can choose 2 sauces to fit your taste and change the listed side for something else from the list. Ewelina was also super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it

Dropped in on the off chance and lucky to get a table as fully booked on a Wednesday! I can see why, the food was great with excellent service. Had the sharing meat board for starters which was very generous. The sharing meat board had some excellent steak and cooked perfect to request- blue.

We saw the ratings on Trip Advisor and we thought let's try this Restaurant! BEST meat we had in a while. The meat it's delicious melts in your mouth We had the Sharing Platter with 3 types of steaks, Ring onions and double cooked chips Blue cheese sauce. Plus the vegetables selection Amazing! The wine also a good collection! We couldn't manage to eat any dessert 😋! Beautiful dinner Thank you!

Fabulous hiden little gem, we ordered the sharing platter of steak which came with onion rings, twice cooked chips, tomatoes and 2 sauces. It was absolutely delicious c ooked to perfection, the service was first class too, deff pay this place a visit you will not be disappointed !

We took a day trip to Bath and decided to go here for lunch. My wife mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and we were brought a complimentary glass of fizz and some Appletiser for our daughter. We tried the sharing platter and really enjoyed all the cuts of beef and accompanying sauces and chips. Overall a really nice experience and will definitely come back!

Great steaks and lovely service! Came here for dinner and we both had steaks. I had the sirloin, which was very good!! My partner had the porterhouse, he said it was really nice. Would come here again, and recommend it. One for my hard of hearing friends, it was quite loud in the restaurant. I felt like the thick walls caused a bit of reverb, I struggled to hear.

Walked past this place a few times on our way into town, and after reading the reviews thought we'd try it on our last night in Bath. Probably should of booked, but we got there early, and we were found a table by the very welcoming Josh, who talked us through the menu. We decided on the sharing platter, and explained we wanted the steak cooked just enough that it was pink in the middle, but not bloody. Well, what arrived at our table was steak cooked to perfection. I don't think we have ever had better before, it was gloriously tasty, and nearly melted in your mouth. Next time we are in Bath we will definitely return, and definitely book a table in advance, so as not to be disappointed. All credit to the staff and chef for a wonderful experience.

Lovely evening, great food and attentive service

Welcoming with a quaint atmosphere, located downstairs within the bridge way of bath, I must admit the first time I went I felt it was "too posh" for me to be dining in, they reassured me that they do not boast to be a "posh" restaurant. I went on a quiet weekday during off peak hours so it was practically empty the evenings are busy to be sure. They even offered me to choose the music, I know it sounds pretentious but it's the best steak I have ever had! The peppercorn sauce complimented it perfectly as well as the wine (; I merely just want other people to experience it!
