Cannot recommend Sotto Sotto enough. Booked a table for my partners birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it a memorable evening. I was very impressed with the food, attention to detail and service, especially from our waiter Azeez. Will definitely be returning 👌

While visiting Bath, I visited this restaurant for my girlfriend's birthday because it had good reviews. The staff are very friendly and sensible, and the food and atmosphere are great. I don't usually write reviews, but this is my first time writing a review, and this is the first restaurant I've visited that I'd like to give a tip for, so I recommend it if you ever visit Bath.

Azeez delivered a brilliant service to me and now fiancée. The food was top notch and tasted really good. We got complimentary drinks and ice cream cake on the house! Overall, if I’ll definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bath. It’s the best amongst other restaurants my partner and I ate at during our visit to Bath! Kudos to the entire team!

We had a great time here. The food was nice and the staff were diligent and attentive - especially Azeez. He was our waiter and he smashed it.

Apart from one kind staff member, our dining experience was disappointing. Despite plenty of empty seats in the main hall, we were directed to sit in a secluded corner. This distance from the servers made us feel disconnected and uncomfortable throughout the meal. I regretted choosing this restaurant, especially after arriving with high expectations and such excitement. Watching others enjoy their meals in the main hall,  I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were unwelcome… The basement seating had a slight musty smell, and from our corner, we couldn’t appreciate any of the decor. Bath is a wonderful city with friendly people, but this brief visit to the restaurant left a negative mark on our trip

Had a wonderful birthday meal here. Hadn't been here for a while but it's still as good as it ever was. The greeting was warm and friendly. The service 1st class and the food was exquisite. Not the cheapest of places but worth every penny.

Amazing Italian food. We really didn't expect this quality. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. They could have had a bit more training on the finer points of waiting but this is not meant as a negative just aiming for the perfection level the food has certainly reached. A must try in bath. The restaurant is also interesting and the grotto feel of it creates a nice vibe.

By far, you guys have the best panna cotta I’ve EVER had, been to a lot of places but still cannot find any that compares to yours. It was so soft and silky but still slightly jiggly, very rich flavour and well balanced between sweetness and tartness. It was actually a while ago since I dined at your restaurant but I just needed to come back to leave a review! We celebrated my partner’s birthday here, the vibe and service were brilliant, will definitely come back soon!

Our server, Lucky was so attentive of our very need. We wanted for nothing at any time. Always there taking away anything that might adversely effect our meal. We loved the food, our chicken was light, well cooked, not over cooked. The swordfish was the best we have ever had! The atmosphere was brilliant, and is well worth going here. We will come again and again.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last night, a very unique restaurant in a 300 year old cellar. The service and food was exemplary! Our waiter - Taisrf was very attentive. We started with the Portobello mushrooms with goat cheese and aged balsamic vinegar, and the Calamari which was light and crispy. For mains we had the chicken and sausage and the fettuccine & butternut pumpkin , both were delicious. We finished off with truffle chocolates and tawny port . Very nice dinner in lovely surroundings.

We had a great experience at Sotto Sotto. Lucky, our waiter, was extremely lovely and attentive. The service here is absolutely fantastic. Sotto Sotto staff care about your dining experience and it shows. The food is authentically Italian and tasty. If you’re in Bath, you must try this restaurant as it really is one of the best in the South West.

We had a delicious lunch at Sotto Sotto, with excellent service from Gianluca. It was a weekday lunchtime, so the restaurant was fairly quiet, but the food was excellent - beautifully cooked and presented. We're looking forward to returning soon.

We had an amazing dining experience at Sotto Sotto in Bath, and a huge part of that was thanks to our wonderful waiter, Lucky. From the moment we arrived, he was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. He was attentive without being intrusive, always ensuring our glasses were full and that we had everything we needed. His recommendations were spot-on, and his knowledge of the menu truly enhanced our meal. Overall really lovely evening, food was wonderful, the staff were experienced on the food and the restaurant itself is cosy. The reason I've knocked it down slightly is due to being slightly rushed. We did feel a little pressure to hurry along with next courses and it felt a little awkward, the table next to us still had at least an hour on their booking taking their time having a girly catch up over food and a bottle of wine, the waiter kept coming over to them to check in which can be nice however it was a little excessive. The waiter even said to them 'we can box that up and you take it home to finish'. I would understand this comment if they only had a short time left on their slot but they still had a whole hour. Unfortunately it did put a bit of a damper atmosphere. Perhaps we were slightly unlucky as it was a Saturday night at their busiest so the staff are maybe under pressure to turnover tables.

We went to Soto Soto for my wife’s birthday. The staff were all fantastic and knowledgeable about the food. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great, highly recommend to anyone visiting Bath.

The interior environment design is very particular, and the atmosphere and lighting make people feel unique and comfortable. The dishes were presented with great care and beauty, and the lamb rack was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed it very much.

I so wanted to come to restaurant but am disabled and can't do down the spiral stairs and was told that was the only way down? Surely this is a legal 🤔 not Impressed and very upset.

I booked Sotto for my husband's birthday, we came to Bath for a few days and I picked this restaurant because of the reviews. They were spot on, the food was amazing, the service was fantastic attentivel but not intrusive, the atmosphere was lovely, busy but so cosy. The time flew by it was so good. Would highly recommend this place to anyone, as one of the best Italian restaurants I've been too.

A fantastic experience at this character full restaurant. From the warm friendly welcome upon arrival we were instantly feeling like this was going to be a special dinner. The staff were super attentive throughout. Our courses were prompt, but not worrying fast. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. High quality produce and great value. All set in an amazing underground, vaulted stone cavern. All finished off with complimentary lychee cocktail shots - nice touch. It’s been a while since we had a completely faultless dining experience, but SottoSotto smashed it. If you get the chance you simply mustn’t miss this place.

Visited the restaurant for lunch today and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Excellent service which still felt casual and fun. Thoughtful decisions made by staff (such as bringing my friend a complimentary non-alcoholic aperitif after noting she hadn’t drunk alcohol-with her lunch ) were really appreciated. The small touches really made the experience great. The food was very very good and my 10 OZ sirloin was both gigantic and perfectly cooked. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for lunch/dinner and it would probably be ideal for special occasions as well.

Her enthusiasm and thoughtfulness helped make my wife’s birthday incredibly special. From the smallest details to the biggest gestures, her service was impeccable and full of heart. We came as a group of 7 on Saturday evening, and the service was great. In general, most people loved the food; however, a few of us got food poisoning afterwards (the common denominator being risotto with salmon and salmon fillet). Perhaps this is a one-off, but I'll certainly stay away from fish if I visit again.

Was recommended SottoSotto by a friend and was lucky to get a place with a last minute reservation (this is strongly recommended as there are limited sittings). Amazing atmosphere and food. Restaurant is in a basement cellar which used to store coal. Food was amazing - Italian cuisine in lovely Bath. My favourite were the Bruschetta, Portoballo mushroom and swordfish (see pictures). Service was very attentive. A well deserved 5star review

I think tiramisu is pretty good, very creamy I also recommend ordering the fried squid, it’s very crispy and chewy. I was a little disappointed with the stewed rice. I rarely see stewed rice in restaurants, so I decided to order the stewed rice after much hesitation. The rice turned out to be very soft...it seems like the stewed rice should be a bit hard, right? But the taste is still good, you won’t get tired of it after eating the whole plate The environment is very special, but the guests are chatting very loudly I think the price is quite reasonable. It’s about 35 for a three-course meal.

The restaurant is located in a very beautiful setting, with an excellent dining experience that truly stands out. The ambiance is wonderful, even though it’s slightly dark due to the basement location, but this shouldn’t deter you from enjoying the overall atmosphere. However, the service leaves much to be desired. The waitstaff come across as rather cold and not very accommodating, often appearing annoyed by any additional requests. While this can be a downside, the quality of the food more than compensates for it. If you prioritize great food over friendly service, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Underwhelming. The atmosphere and setting itself is nice. But the food was bland? We booked based on other reviews and I’m shocked at how they have such good reviews ? You could cook better at home! Also £28 for steak and nothing else so had to order potatoes which were so bland and undercooked!!! Would not recommend.

What an incredible, extremely friendly, atmospheric, and delicious restaurant! We were visiting Bath for the day and came to Sotto for an evening meal as it was my birthday. Our waitress was extremely friendly, super helpful and accommodating, along with all other staff members who were just as friendly and helpful too. The food was impeccable; I highly recommend the Lamb Ragú Fettuce!! As it was my birthday, without us prompting or asking for anything, I was given a lovely birthday note from the restaurant, a tiramisu with a candle and happy birthday message in chocolate on the plate, and a round of delicious free shots, which was all so lovely and such a nice gesture. Thank you, Sotto, for such an amazing evening meal!

Amazing spot! We stayed in bath over the weekend, with an endless list of restaurants sotto sotto caught our eye and did not disappoint, the prawn starters were absolutely amazing perhaps the best I’ve ever had, all of the food was of high standard and the staff were super efficient, friendly and professional.

Great little secret of a restaurant! We were very lucky to get a last minute booking on a Thursday night, purely because someone else hadn't turned up. Couldn't have been happier - had the lamb ragout fettuccine which was utterly delicious (later discovered from a friend that they make all their own pasta in site). Gorgeous ambience (feels like your in a little grotto in Italy). Perfect for an intimate, memorable dinner (and very reasonably priced).

Thanks to this tasty food and great service, I had a wonderful luncheon time in Bath. For me, the food tasted best compared to the restaurants I have visited in Bath. The food material was so fresh and delicious with a nice look. All the staff members were friendly. I especially appreciated the nice table service from Mr Gahluca (I hope I spell the gentleman's name correctly). Overall, I strongly recommend this nice place! I want to visit again.

We hadn't booked but we were able to get a table for a quick meal. Luciano made us very welcome, Brianna was a lovely attentive server and we enjoyed one of the best risottos ever, zucchini, lemon and salmon. Highly recommended, great food, great atmosphere, great value, unusual location. Update: Revisited July 2024, same amazing food and staff... Special mention for Taisif who looked after us so well.

A truly wonderful experience. Having previously heard amazing reviews from friends about the restaurant we decided to book a meal to celebrate our one year anniversary. The service was fantastic and attentive. The food was divine and the evening was made when the waiter who had previously chatted to us about our reason for visiting brought out a special dessert for us both to celebrate. Neither of us drink alcohol either and this was noted, they brought us shots of lychee juice at the end as a small symbol of a last celebration on the house. I only hope everyone visiting and living in Bath tries this restaurant and falls in love with it as we have done.

The best restaurant by far in Bath and England. The 4 dishes we tried were exquisite, the salmon is incredible, the wines were very delicious and not so expensive. The only thing is that you have to reserve in advance.

We are really picky eaters but the restaurant was brilliant 5+ ! Honestly, we are more often disappointed than happy. Keep the good work up. The staff members were brilliant, very helpful, very friendly. Something I released just after that you don't include the service charge, I would have not mind to pay it as it was top quality restaurant, everyone was always ensuring that we are ok, thanks so much to the server you were brilliant didn't notice your name but it was a gentleman, maybe Italian ? Not sure, but we both enjoyed it very much and hopefully will visit again when next in bath.

Where I live anything above a 4.5 rating is an incredible dining experience. With this many reviews and such a high rating my expectations were high, as they should’ve been. Atmosphere and service were great but what gets you the high rating is the food… which was a 4.0 at absolute best. Maybe we are spoiled with good Italian in my city (Boston), but we were not impressed. Overall it was an enjoyable meal, but nothing I would seek out. Especially on vacation; you can find much better spots in the area.

This meal was one of the best experiences at a restaurant I’ve ever had! After a week long visit to the UK from America to meet our friends and introduce each other to our babies (we both had kiddos that were just under one), we ended our journey in Bath and wanted to celebrate with one last meal. Throughout our trip to London and the Cotswolds we were welcomed with our babies to restaurants but still got the feeling of being high maintenance or a little more difficult because we had strollers and babies aren’t the most courteous restaurant goers. Luckily, we were able to snag last minute reservations at Sotto Sotto, and we were excited for the food because we had heard such great things. What we weren’t expecting was how accommodating and kind they were to us and our babies. From the beginning we were greeted with such kindness and hospitality; they wouldn’t hear of us leaving our strollers outside even though they took up precious real estate in their front area. All of the servers seemed so happy to be there, and excited we were there. Our server Gianluca was incredible and made sure the babies were happy and took good care of us. And then of course the food was even better than we could have hoped for!!! To top everything off, at the end of the evening another wonderful server Marco helped carry our strollers up the two flights of stairs that lead down to the restaurant. I would give this restaurant 15/10, and would say it’s a MUST if you are visiting Bath!

Nice atmosphere to dine in, location easy to find and staff very helpful and accommodating. Table was hard to book so recommend book in advance. Overall a very nice restaurant with a suitable price range. The lychee cocktail in the end was a cherry on top.

The 5.0 reviews are justified. They were quite busy, but made room for a party of 2. we had the linguini pasta - home made and delicious. We then had a chicken and sausage dish with amazing sauce. The owner suggested a wine and it was a great match and very good (one of the house wines!). Definitely a place to eat!
