Wonderful service, Lucky looked after us all night and was extremely helpful and responsive. The food was fantastic and the other top reviews that brought us here were spot on.

The food at Sotto Sotto is amazing and so delicious, particularly the prawn bruschetta starter. Great portion sizes and fantastic service - Lucky is a great waiter and looked after us very well in the evening! Our second time visiting and we'll definitely be back!!

Great value, amazing food, would maybe like some draught beers in lieu of just bottles. Azeez was incredible, very attentive with waters and very friendly, this was the same with all waiting staff

Reservation system, needs a few weeks or months in advance. Pasta was amazing. The desserts, tiramisu and mousse were too sweet/sickly.

A bit lacklustre. The lighting made me want to fall asleep. Big portions of pasta. Prawn toast was delicious.

Booked a few days ahead and got in easily, but it was an early sitting. We were served by Azeez who was very attentive We had polle e salsiccia and the hazelnut semifreddo, the chicken was probably the best meal we've had in a long time and the dessert was lovely

This place is ranked number one restaurant in Bath for a very good reason!! Absolutely superb atmosphere, service, and outstanding food. I would definitely recommend booking well in advance, which can be done easily online. Beautiful, unique location, very central to Bath so easily walkable if your stopping in the city centre. The standard and quality of service makes this place truly memorable and has made us keen to return on our next visit to Bath in the summer. The food was fresh, high quality, and cooked to perfection. Exceptional is the best word!!

I recently celebrated someone’s birthday at Sotto Sotto in Bath, and it was absolutely fantastic! This was my second time visiting, and once again, I was really impressed with everything. It truly feels like you’ve been transported to an authentic Italian restaurant. The atmosphere, the food, and the whole vibe made us feel like we were dining in Italy. The food was amazing. Every dish was full of flavor, and you can really tell it’s made with the best ingredients. The pasta was delicious, the sauces were perfect, and the sparkling wine was spot on. It’s clear that everything is prepared with love and care to give you that true Italian experience. The service was also top-notch. The waiter "Lucky" was very kind and had an Italian spirit, he was so friendly and really made us feel special. He knew the menu well and gave great recommendations, which made the meal even better. One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need a reservation, as they can only accommodate a small number of people at a time due to space I believe.?! (max 5 per reservation if you go in a group). But it’s worth it for the intimate, personal experience you get. What really stood out to me, though, was the attention to detail. At the end of our night, the staff even helped us get our coats on, which I thought was such a nice and rare touch — especially in restaurants in the UK! It’s the little things like this that really make you feel valued as a guest. It definitely made me feel like I was in an authentic Italian restaurant. The prices were also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of food and service. For what you get, it’s definitely good value. At the end of our meal, they even treated us to a complimentary shot, something like limoncello, which was a lovely touch and a great way to finish off the night. Overall, if you’re looking for a cozy, authentic Italian place in Bath, I highly recommend Sotto Sotto. It’s definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to!

Great atmosphere, attentive service and beautiful dishes. I particularly enjoyed the swordfish and tiramisu. This restaurant should be considered if you are looking around in Bath. Thanks to all the staff and I will be returning soon.

Would of loved to have sat in the area with the stone, but aside from that, the food was delicious, the service was polite and efficient and we left very happy.

Last time I went , the waiter was more like a sales rep.so pushy and destroyed our dining experience. Won't be going back.

Very grateful to Sotto Sotto for squeezing us in for our five year anniversary. We were on the waiting list and delighted to receive a call for an opening the day before this evening. All courses were hits, particularly the Bruschetta (both vegetarian and with shrimp). Absolute standout dish were the calamari rings - something I usually don't order, but my partner insisted and I didn't resent it - freshest, tangiest, most lightly battered I've ever had. I could write more, but just have a gander at the pics :-) Edit: wanted to highlight that Azeez rocked! Thanks for the special evening

There is a reason why this place has such amazing reviews!! The food is authentic, fresh and tastes incredible! The Tiramisu has to be sampled to be believed, it is sensational! The service and atmosphere are amazing and staff are very attentive. The only slight criticism is that staff intently watch diners in close proximity, it can be a little off putting and maybe it should be more discreetly done. Honestly I would recommend this place to everyone who enjoys Italian cuisine!

Husband and I loved this place. We wish would have one like this in York where we live. Everything is very good from the start to the end. What a good experience. Compliments to the chef, the fillet steak cooked to perfection and tiramisu were amazing. Highly recommended.

A fabulous evening was had by us. Really cool setting underground lead to the perfect evening. The food and service was excellent and I must have dropped my napkin 20 times before Julienne picked it up from the floor. Super attentive. We will be back when we are next in Bath!

I booked this spot based in the great reviews and it honestly was not that good. We got the salmon risotto and it tasted like fishy wet rice. The whole vibe was also kind off.

I visited with my son today for a celebratory 21st birthday lunch. Could not fault it, friendly welcome, professional service with superb attention to detail. The food was fantastic, incredible tiramisu! The venue is in a cellar and has a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return. Thank you.

The side serving af a green salad was awful if Italian owned I don’t know how they could serve the tomatoes dreadful the side dish of spinach looked like it had just been thrown into a dish all in all a disappointing visit

I was visiting Bath for New Years with a close friend when we decided to dine at Sotto Sotto. Not only was the food amazing, the service was very attentive, and the staff made us feel at home. One of the best places to visit in Bath, dining at this restaurant was a great way to start 2025!!

My best friend and I went here for New Years Eve and not only was the food amazing, but the staff and Antonio made us feel like family. Bartender (Rija) made tasty cocktails and even an off-menu clover club cocktail. Everyone was super accommodating and kind. Opening the new year 2025 here was made so special by them, an experience that will be hard to top next year!! 10/10 recommend

Thought we were going to an Italian restaurant, no soup on menu, no specials board,no spaghetti and not an Italian waiter insight, we think that sotto sotto has changed hands, not the Italian experience that we expected.

We chose Sotto Sotto in Bath to celebrate the end of the year, and it turned out to be the perfect choice! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed into a charming and elegant atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish prepared to perfection. Our waiter, Julien, was fantastic, attentive, professional, and always ensuring that everything was just right. He left no detail overlooked, making our experience even more special. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Antonio, and his daughter, Carmela, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made the evening truly unforgettable. Thanks to the entire team at Sotto Sotto, we celebrated the start of the new year in the best way possible. We went for dinner at Sotto Sotto on Friday evening. Our waiter was Azeez. We could not have had a better service from all of the staff that evening. I feel like we received a 7 star treatment. The food was absolutely beautiful and we felt it was good value for money in every way. We had two margarita cocktails when we were waiting for our table. I had the Cod pieces and my husband had the squid for starter, which was delicious and piping hot. We then went for the penne Vodka and Salmon risotto for main which was so delicious and filing I was struggling to get it all in me but I did it! lol. For dessert my husband had an Irish coffee and I had a very light and fluffy tiramisu. We would recommend this restaurant for couples and if you like to eat delicious food and receive a top class service. Not great for the stairs and low ceilings as it is underground but worth it for such a unique venue.

This is one of the best places you could visit in Bath. The service and professionalism is super! I'm not Italian but dare I say that the food here is amazing, filling, and cost effective ! Absolutely enjoyed the ambience and the decor. It was a bit weird going underground but when I settled in, it was relaxing. Tbf Bath has lots of underground basement as I've noticed 😅 We also had a free non-alcoholic shot as seen in the pictures. Highly recommend.

Table for three in the valued basement of an old Georgian house. Really great atmosphere and the service from Azeez was top notch. The authentic Italian food was amazing, full of taste and flavour. Not just pizza and pasta but some great Italian cuisine. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening at a beautiful restaurant, perfect end to a lovely day wandering around the historic city.

Brilliant food and service! The food (and bread) is a bit too salty for me. Next time I’ll ask the staff to make it less salty. But overall everything is great, and they provide a free small lychee-flavoured drink—a lovely surprise! The spaghetti may look only a mouthful in the picture, but the portion is actually good.

Everything about the food service and atmosphere was 10/10. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely amazing, our waiter Lucky was so lovely and attentive, as were the other staff. A place you can’t miss when you visit Bath! We ordered the calamari, penne, salmon and salmon risotto as well as the prawns on bruschetta.

Had a great meal here whilst visiting Bath with my other half. The service was great, especially our waiter who even took the time to write us a list of things to do while we were visiting. The food, service and atmosphere were great. Allmdishes presented to a high standard with great quality ingredients used. At the end of the meal we were offered a lovely pallet cleanser lychee drink and they even brought out a special non alcohol oke without asking for my pregnant other half 😃 Very much reccomended.

What a great basement restaurant lovely setting with stone vaulted ceilings. Probably the best pasta I’ve ever had and will definitely be going back.

Overall a nice Italian but I wasn’t blown away. Tasty mains but personally I wouldn’t run back because of long wait. Service: Very attentive service throughout lunch. Coat and umbrella check on arrival and always a member of the team around tending to the table. Sadly food service was very slow. We were one of the first in on Lunch service and no table had their mains after 1 hour wait. Table next to us had to chase their food, as did we. Food: Calamari 7/10 - well cooked and not chewy. Not a 10 as I like a variety of squid and this was just rings. Lamb ragu 9/10 - a very good ragu. Friend loved the cheese fondant on the side. Note if you get gluten free version you are given penne. Vodka penne 9/10 - would recommend. My favourite of the two. Nice and saucy but pork was too chewy. Virgin lychee shot: Nice touch that the bill came with a virgin lychee shot Bread: Complementary bread baked in house Allergy: Good with my nut and soy allergy. Calamari cooked in different oil. Note only gluten free pasta is suitable for soy allergy. Positively you would never know the pasta was gluten free which I was very pleased by. Atmosphere: Restaurant is set below street level in the arches. Lovely character. Very busy you will need to book in advanced.

This is the place to go in Bath for fantastic Italian food. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recommendations, especially Mr Lucky (shout out to him). Worth the visit and will definitely return if I am ever in Bath. Atmosphere is warm and cosy.

Azeez delivered a brilliant service to me and now fiancée. The food was top notch and tasted really good. We got complimentary drinks and ice cream cake on the house! Overall, if I’ll definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bath. It’s the best amongst other restaurants my partner and I ate at during our visit to Bath! Kudos to the entire team!

We had a great time here. The food was nice and the staff were diligent and attentive - especially Azeez. He was our waiter and he smashed it.

Apart from one kind staff member, our dining experience was disappointing. Despite plenty of empty seats in the main hall, we were directed to sit in a secluded corner. This distance from the servers made us feel disconnected and uncomfortable throughout the meal. I regretted choosing this restaurant, especially after arriving with high expectations and such excitement. Watching others enjoy their meals in the main hall,  I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were unwelcome… The basement seating had a slight musty smell, and from our corner, we couldn’t appreciate any of the decor. Bath is a wonderful city with friendly people, but this brief visit to the restaurant left a negative mark on our trip

Had a wonderful birthday meal here. Hadn't been here for a while but it's still as good as it ever was. The greeting was warm and friendly. The service 1st class and the food was exquisite. Not the cheapest of places but worth every penny.

Amazing Italian food. We really didn't expect this quality. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. They could have had a bit more training on the finer points of waiting but this is not meant as a negative just aiming for the perfection level the food has certainly reached. A must try in bath. The restaurant is also interesting and the grotto feel of it creates a nice vibe.

By far, you guys have the best panna cotta I’ve EVER had, been to a lot of places but still cannot find any that compares to yours. It was so soft and silky but still slightly jiggly, very rich flavour and well balanced between sweetness and tartness. It was actually a while ago since I dined at your restaurant but I just needed to come back to leave a review! We celebrated my partner’s birthday here, the vibe and service were brilliant, will definitely come back soon!

Our server, Lucky was so attentive of our very need. We wanted for nothing at any time. Always there taking away anything that might adversely effect our meal. We loved the food, our chicken was light, well cooked, not over cooked. The swordfish was the best we have ever had! The atmosphere was brilliant, and is well worth going here. We will come again and again.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last night, a very unique restaurant in a 300 year old cellar. The service and food was exemplary! Our waiter - Taisrf was very attentive. We started with the Portobello mushrooms with goat cheese and aged balsamic vinegar, and the Calamari which was light and crispy. For mains we had the chicken and sausage and the fettuccine & butternut pumpkin , both were delicious. We finished off with truffle chocolates and tawny port . Very nice dinner in lovely surroundings.

Overall really lovely evening, food was wonderful, the staff were experienced on the food and the restaurant itself is cosy. The reason I've knocked it down slightly is due to being slightly rushed. We did feel a little pressure to hurry along with next courses and it felt a little awkward, the table next to us still had at least an hour on their booking taking their time having a girly catch up over food and a bottle of wine, the waiter kept coming over to them to check in which can be nice however it was a little excessive. The waiter even said to them 'we can box that up and you take it home to finish'. I would understand this comment if they only had a short time left on their slot but they still had a whole hour. Unfortunately it did put a bit of a damper atmosphere. Perhaps we were slightly unlucky as it was a Saturday night at their busiest so the staff are maybe under pressure to turnover tables.

Chirantha was exceptional with his customer service, made us feel very welcomed and the food was delicious! We would definitely come back when we visit Bath again

The interior environment design is very particular, and the atmosphere and lighting make people feel unique and comfortable. The dishes were presented with great care and beauty, and the lamb rack was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed it very much.

A fantastic experience at this character full restaurant. From the warm friendly welcome upon arrival we were instantly feeling like this was going to be a special dinner. The staff were super attentive throughout. Our courses were prompt, but not worrying fast. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. High quality produce and great value. All set in an amazing underground, vaulted stone cavern. All finished off with complimentary lychee cocktail shots - nice touch. It’s been a while since we had a completely faultless dining experience, but SottoSotto smashed it. If you get the chance you simply mustn’t miss this place.

I booked Sotto for my husband's birthday, we came to Bath for a few days and I picked this restaurant because of the reviews. They were spot on, the food was amazing, the service was fantastic attentivel but not intrusive, the atmosphere was lovely, busy but so cosy. The time flew by it was so good. Would highly recommend this place to anyone, as one of the best Italian restaurants I've been too.

I so wanted to come to restaurant but am disabled and can't do down the spiral stairs and was told that was the only way down? Surely this is a legal 🤔 not Impressed and very upset.

Visited the restaurant for lunch today and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Excellent service which still felt casual and fun. Thoughtful decisions made by staff (such as bringing my friend a complimentary non-alcoholic aperitif after noting she hadn’t drunk alcohol-with her lunch ) were really appreciated. The small touches really made the experience great. The food was very very good and my 10 OZ sirloin was both gigantic and perfectly cooked. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for lunch/dinner and it would probably be ideal for special occasions as well.
