Outstanding. Service and food were exceptional.

Lovely spot above the bakery/provision store serving tasty seasonal plates. Popped in for a late, light supper & enjoyed anchovies, radicchio salad, venison ragu and finished with an epic rhubarb & custard choux bun - perfect amount of food for two. Best seats are the counter looking out the window over the city of Bath.

Holy smokes this place was good! We ordered a lot and there wasn’t a single miss. Generous serving sizes, unique flavour pairings, fresh ingredients, and amazing wine. The staff were all completely delightful as well. (And such a fun toilet!)

We visited for our first time on Thursday evening following a recommendation from a friend and Upstairs at Landrace did not disappoint! The venue itself is decorated beautifully, and the food was outstanding - loved that the dishes were made using local, seasonable ingredients, and the wine selection was fab. The service was also spot on: Hettie was super friendly, attentive and accommodated my dietary requirement (gluten-free), too. Thank you for a lovely evening! We will definitely be back.

I would come back to Bath just for this restaurant, yes, it’s that good!!! Every dish is incredible, showcasing both freshness and the chef’s skill. If the custard tart is on the menu, do yourself a favor and order it, you’ll be in heaven!

My wife and I went to Upstairs for dinner. Each dish was exceptional, the house wine was reasonably priced and very drinkable, and the service was faultless. We really enjoyed it and won't hesitate to go back when next in Bath.

Went for a birthday dinner as we'd heard a lot of good things. First of all, the atmosphere and ambiance was great. It felt like being in Italy, and was very buzzy. The service was impeccable; friendly, informed and seamless. We ordered 6 dishes (3 small and 3 larger) and the first to come out was the anchovies. I was very underwhelmed; it looked liked tinned anchovies swimming in oil! I had been expecting fresh anchovies for £12!! They were nice, but really not worth that money. The rest of the food spanned the nice to really nice scale - the gnocchi was undercooked and a bit dull, the salad was interesting, the beef carpaccio was very tasty, but the stars of the show were the beef feather and the custard tart with rhubarb which was quite honestly one of the most delicious desserts I've ever had. I don't think I'd go again as it was really expensive (£200 for two people) and I've eaten much better food elsewhere in Bath, but it was 80% nice and 20% very nice. One final note, the music was too loud, but maybe that's just my preference - I like to be able to chat and hear what everyone is saying at my table!

Had high expectations based on the good reviews I’d seen about this place. Food was really overpriced for what you got, £34 for a fish dish which constituted of a very small piece of fish that wasn’t even de-boned, alongside a very small portion of butter beans smothered in oil. Parmesan fritters were WAY too cheesy. 5 anchovies again smothered in oil were £12. Prices did not match the quantity and quality of the food. Shame about this place as the service was good and ambience was nice, although you’re pretty squashed together in the restaurant. Disappointed and feel a bit robbed!

Honestly feel that this place is massively overrated from our experience. We had one dish come out cold and another not very hot at all which wasn't great. We arrived 5 minutes early for our table but were told to come back, which as there is no waiting area meant standing outside. No one checked on us to see how the food was during or after the meal and it was also pretty cold in there as we were seated near the top of the stairs and door being open downstairs let In a terrible draft. Perhaps because we had some expectations due to the reviews and being on the michelin guide we were disappointed, but even without this I don't think the food or service really matches the price point. Wouldn't recommend, so many better places in bath many of which you could spend half as much at and get better food and service.

Unfortunately the food wasn’t good for the price (undercooked pasta/ quite bland flavours). The desserts were good though and the drinks were delicious. I think they excel at baking and sweet flavours. Savoury plates leave a lot to be desired. Such a shame as it’s a lovely vibe.

Second time I've been and both have been disappointing visits. This feels like a pop up restaurant experiment that hasn't grown up. Food surprisingly poor for the price. For the same price you could have a world class meal down the road... Ambience and service great though, so thanks for that.

Lives up to its reputation. Excellent food and service. What is remarkable is that the team who work there seem to genuinely love their work. The atmosphere is positive, calm, buzzy and warm. Happy people making happier diners.

Went for lunch, the food was delicious and the staff were super warm and accommodating We ordered the anchovies, pesto pasta and cod dish and all were fantastic quality. Also had two of the homemade sparking soft drinks and they were delicious too. Would highly recommend and will be going back!

Simply excellent. Friendly and helpful service. Food was seasonal and creative, presented well and full of flavour. Really nice ambience and decor as well. Cheddar Fritters - Mouthwateringly soft with nice crunch. Boudin Noir - Delicate with notes of sweetness that really shines. Nice texture and flavourful. Squash Ravioli - Outstanding. Best pasta I have ever eaten. Brixham Cod - Tad bit overseasoned. Extremely soft and moist. Good pairings. Amazing experience overall, thank you Landrace.

Without doubt one of the best dinners I have had in a very long time. The service was brilliant thanks knowledgeable and friendly staff. The cocktails and wine list were original and the food was excellent. The pastas were a particular highlight but the crab toast was a hot contender for dish of the evening. 10/10 would recommend to all.

Delicious food and friendly service, drinks menu too was very good! Highlights were the braised cuttlefish with chickpeas & aioli, sweetbreads with mojo verde, and a whopping big Tamworth pork chop with butter beans and girolles!

Incredible meal. Warm interior upstairs with Brooklyn vibes and also great pasta?! Yes, please. This place was an absolute gem in Bath and deserving of your time. The staff is friendly and warm, the food is delicious, the wine great… what else do you want?! The menu changes but you honestly cannot go wrong. We got some cheese fritters, dittalini pesto, and a capacelli dish. Loved it all. You should absolutely go here even if you have one night in Bath.

Delicious, thoughtful, seasonal, perfectly executed food. Great, friendly service. So good we went two days in a row so we could try more of the menu. The country sourdough served before the meal deserves a mention of its own, made from locally grown specialty flours milled and baked in house at Landrace. You’d struggle to find better. Don’t miss it if you’re in Bath and if you’re not it’s worth a visit just to dine here. Big thanks to the team for two wonderful meals - we had high expectations and they were exceeded!

We hosted my mum's 60th birthday at the Upstairs at Landrace and it was such a special evening all thanks to the incredible food, amazing service and beautiful atmosphere. I can't put into words how perfect the whole evening was! I'll definitely be back for dinner soon.

My husband and I had an exceptional dining experience at Upstairs at Landrace, thanks to a recommendation from Ron, the sweet and helpful owner of the shop Beau Nash. He provided us with printed recommendations, and we're so glad we followed his advice! The restaurant itself is a lovely, minimalistic space that transitions beautifully from a bakery during the day to a cozy restaurant in the evening. The atmosphere is both inviting and intimate, set in a charming area. The food was truly memorable—light, savory, and fresh. We were particularly impressed with the fish, which was prepared to perfection. The bread, as expected from a bakery, was absolutely delicious and complemented our meal perfectly. The chefs clearly know their craft, and the young staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing our overall experience. Additionally, the wine selection was fantastic, offering a great variety to pair with the diverse dishes. We left very satisfied and would highly recommend Upstairs at Landrace for anyone looking for a delightful meal in a lovely setting.

I'm so lucky I live in Bath. If i didn't live, I would happily travel to Landrace Upstairs. I do this for Noble Rot in Soho. These are equally great. Different but exactly-same in ethos and spirit in creating, delivering not only great good but an incredibly friendly warm atmosphere. I love eating here. Either by myself or with other people. As for the food : it changes so frequently depending on what's available. What doesn't change is the brilliance, imagination, creativity and taste.

We came for dinner and had a fantastic meal. Imaginative and delicious food, great drinks and excellent staff. One of our dishes was over-seasoned, which I mentioned, and it was changed without question. The cinnamon buns downstairs are also spectacularly good!!

We ordered the chocolate bun, cinnamon bun, Eccles cake and the quiche. They were great, and the ambiance was wonderful — would definitely return.

Fantastic rustic restaurant with amazing flavor and hyper local /seasonal menu. Staff is an absolute delight!

One of my go to places when in Bath. Nestled in an upper part of a shop house. It gives an intimate dining environment minus the busyness of a typical high street location. It attracts the right clientle as only learned gourmands will know about it. The menu changes regularly as per the seasons but what makes them remarkable is the understanding of flavours and textures in every dish. Very few restaurants get it right in harmony these days. As a further testament, they must be doing something really right as they have recently aquired additional space in the quaint dining room.

Upstairs at Landrace is an absolute gem. The understated elegance of their cozy dining room sets the stage for an unforgettable meal, with an ever-changing menu that highlights seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. The open kitchen executes each dish with passion—I especially loved their succulent lamb dishes but every dish I ordered was flavorful and perfectly executed. I also can’t praise enough the warm and friendly service provided by Georgia and Shuna. Upstairs at Landrace offers a crave-worthy dining experience that is truly outstanding. A must-visit in Bath.

Interesting selection of small plates and larger dishes with an emphasis on fresh and local . Good flavours and some unusual dishes such as Mutton offal with onions , fried gnocco with mortadella and a special request of artichoke , white beans and charred scallions.

Unfortunately not a great experience here. Service was very mediocre and even when we asked is we could get our salad before other dishes the response was straightaway “it will come whenever it’s ready..!” We were a bit surprised as a customer by this odd response and such immediate dismissive response. Food isn’t worth what they charge at all.

Food was fabulous, especially the chocolate terrine with cherries and the squid ink ragu pasta. Lots of choices of wines by the glass which is nice. The exhaust isn’t great so you will walk out quite smelly!! Service is friendly and helpful, but maybe a tad leisurely.

A storming place. The food was imaginative, tasty, seasonal, and interesting. The wine list is full of delightful discoveries and surprises, with relatively small measures and fair pricing, allowing you to try more. 😊. The staff were perfect - friendly, professional, passionate and quietly confident.

Highly recommend. We had such an enjoyable dinner with the highlights being the lovely staff, the freshest ingredients and balance of flavours. We especially loved the sourdough, cheddar curd fritters, feta and artichoke salad and ray wing. The desserts were the showstoppers - chocolate terrine and rhubarb eclair - both utterly delicious.

This is a review of their very poor customer service, not the bakery/restaurant. It took 3 weeks and 4 reminders to finally get a voucher. I wanted to treat my family with a voucher to use at Upstairs for a birthday. I paid extra for delivery and provided them with an address in Bath. I had to email them after a week to get some news as I was wondering what the next steps were following my order. After emailing them 3 times within 2 weeks, they finally sent the voucher, telling me that they thought I was going to pick it up. I wouldn’t have paid for shipping or given an address if I had planned to collect it. It’s such a shame because the bakery and buns are great. I will just not use the service for vouchers again as they clearly don’t care about their customers.

We came here for lunch on a break from London and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time ! The cheddar fritters were so innovative and delish along with the prawns and the mains of turbot and veal - everything cooked well, tasty and seasoned perfectly. Lovely decor, could have stayed all afternoon Great cider and wine to accompany. Would recommend and return in a heartbeat

One of the best hidden gems in Bath. Every single dish was perfection, the food is some of the best you’ll find in Bath. The ambience is wonderful, the staff a delight and an outstanding wine list. We’ve lived Landrace since it first opened, they got us through lock down with their incredible produce and friendly staff in the darkest of times. Now they have the restaurant upstairs, they really are one of the very best in town. If we lived closer we would be here every week!

We can’t recommend Landrace highly enough. The food is utterly outstanding, the staff are consistently wonderful, the wine list is impeccable and we have never had an average meal here. From the bakery to the restaurant to the deli, the attention to detail would be hard to beat. If you want the best Bath has to offer, come here for lunch dinner or breakfast - maybe all three!

First visit to Upstairs at Landrace. It was our wedding anniversary and we had a lovely time the food was amazing, you must try the corn fritters and chocolate tart. Hope to return very soon.

One of the best vegetarian meals I've had in a long time! Cheddar fritters were amazing and the squash with brown butter hollandaise was perfectly cooked. You can tell that the products are of really good quality 👌 Special mention for the dessert, great way to end the meal 😋

I came here alongside some others, we were expecting a great experience but it ended up being one of the worst. Food wise, most of the food was okay. However, the kitchen consisted of 3 staff, so the food came out super slow. We were there for 1.5 hours without any of the main dishes being served. Additionally, because the kitchen is an open-style kitchen and quite small, situated next to the tables, the ventilation is seemingly non-existent, so our clothes smelled of fish and the cleaning of the kitchen tops where they cooked different meals. We honestly had to let our clothes out overnight to have that disgusting smell disappear. Moving on to the food that was not good, the grilled prawns were not cooked correctly. They still contained the gunk that a chef having gone to culinary school would know to clean. When we informed our waiter about it, they acted with arrogance, and told us that that is how they are supposed to be served. We come from a country that consumes prawns, sea food and fishes constantly and yet the waiter argued that ‘I am not sorry since that is the way it is supposed to be served’ instead of at least acknowledging our comment and informing the chefs in the kitchen. It was quite poor complaint handling, with an attitude that would be existent in a debate club, rather than a developing restaurant. The prices showcased on the menu were also less expensive than the final receipt prices, which were more increased. To be fair, they gave us back the amount differentiated between the menu and the receipt. However, that means that whoever hasn’t paid attention to the prices has literally been scammed. Finally, on the payment, we paid an extra Oasis Pantry Donation of 1 pound, without even being informed. I would have gladly donated, but as a restaurant, and being a lawyer, you must inform the customers of whether they want to make the donation or not. Overall, i was disappointed from the food, the service and their shady tactics, and it was definitely fitted towards a date style experience, however, i wouldn’t bring a first date or even my girlfriend here.

Very highly recommend - best restaurant we’ve been to in a long time! We came to Bath for the weekend from London for a celebration and this was the perfect spot. Incredible food, super warm and attentive staff, excellent ambiance. If we lived in Bath, we’d be here all the time! Stop at nothing to come here :)

Genuinely one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in. Each plate we had was beautifully put together and balanced, the staff were so helpful but not overly attentive but were more than happy to talk through the menu and recommend dishes and drinks when we asked. This was a birthday treat but I'd recommend it to anyone who visits Bath.

We went here for lunch and will definitely return for dinner when we are next back in Bath. A lovely range of seasonal plates, accompanied by a fab selection of drinks. Service was lovely - attentive but not overbearing and the staff were really knowledgeable.

Food was decent, not special and quite standard for many places in Bath. There was a lot of upselling, however. It put me off going back, it seemed a little bit of a hard sell.

Was recommended to eat here by a friend and it was an incredible experience. Really thoughtful and delicious menu, and amazing service to match. Also stopped by for a coffee and sweet treat the next morning at their downstairs bakery, which was also incredible. Highly recommend!

We’re visiting from Australia but friends who live locally took us here. Absolutely superb, best food we have eaten in UK so far. Service impeccable too. Prices match the quality of food/service and we had no quibble there. Even came out as we were leaving to recommend a pub for post dinner drink.

Live locally in Bath and eaten here several times and had fantastic experience- one of a small handful of places in the city I’d recommend which serves high quality, memorable food (and wine), not silly prices and is worth visiting time and time again. Locally sourced and great combinations of flavours with lovely, intimate atmosphere that is not formal or pretentious- reminds me of restaurants in North London (hard to find in Bath). Open kitchen and super friendly, relaxed staff make for a great dinner experience. Off the tourist trail too which is another big plus!

Such a lovely hidden gem, food is great, well decorated and the staff is lovely. The interior design reminded us of Japan.

A nice lunch in delightful Bath among spas and historic buildings. The place is small and you enter the first floor through the oven which makes delicious desserts. The lunch menu is small and particular between tradition and innovation. The positive note is certainly for the wine list, with small Italian and French companies and an excellent choice of English cider. The only negative note is the smells from the kitchen that spread everywhere, leaving clothes and jackets soaked in cooking.

- one of the best restaurants i’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at. i discovered landrace upstairs when looking for restaurants in bath after noticing their bakery on instagram. checked out the sample menu, and then found out that the chef that would be cooking for us was also once the head chef at @jolene_n16 (a place i’ve wanted to visit for AGES and still haven’t) so immediately booked, best decision i’ve ever made - the interior is gorgeous, minimalistic and comfortable. the menu changes daily, so we knew that the menu online would be slightly different to what we would be greeted with on the night. our waitress was absolutely lovely, she went through the whole menu and talked about how many dishes people would normally order which really helped us as we weren’t sure on portion sizes - the menu is set into three parts; small plates and starters, mains, and puddings. for starters, we decided on; the parmesan fritters, the smoked devon eel, nicola potatoes, créme fraíche and pickled cucumber, and lastly, the pork collar tonnato, runner beans and pangrattato. the parmesan fritters were otherworldly, i would go back just for them. we ordered the eel having both never tried it and it was probably the star of the show for both of us. all of the components to the dish complimented eachother beautifully, it was absolutely delicious. the pork collar was a wonderful mix of different textures and flavours and tasted brilliant. i would recommend those three dishes endlessly to everyone i know. for mains, we shared the hake, sauce vierge and fennel, and also the beef rump, cavolo nero, girolles and persillade. both dishes were wonderfully different to one another. the hake was cooked to absolute perfection and just melted in your mouth. together with the acidity of the tomato’s and the aromatic flavour of the fennel the dish was stunning. the beef rump, girolles and the cavolo nero purée was an absolute match made in heaven. unfortunately we didn’t chose to have a pud as we were SO full and also didn’t hugely fancy the choices on the menu that evening. but it just means we have to go back !

Had a delicious dinner for two at this little hidden gem of a restaurant. The staff were all incredibly friendly and knowledgable, offering helpful wine recommendations and guiding us through the delicious seasonal menu. As others have said you will likely need extra bread to mop up the lovely sauces/juices! The menu really lends itself to sharing but there were several dishes we would happily have eaten twice over.

A truly delightful place with excellent food that’s just a few blocks from city centre. We got an amazing mozzarella and chard dish that was unlike anything I’ve had before, plus great bread (salt level was perfect!) and a very well-dressed salad. We also got a chai and one of the daily special cordials. We went a little after noon on a weekday and there were a few other diners, but it wasn’t too busy (even though the city centre was packed!). Service was great!

Had an amazing dinner served by lovely staff. The food was brilliant and from what I can understand changes with the season/stock. We had 4 sharing plates, 2 pieces of sourdough, sparkling water, 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine for £88. A faultless evening. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting an intimate dinner with good food.

We just loved our evening at this fantastic restaurant. We’re lucky enough to live in Bath but to be honest the city has lots of very average restaurants (unlike nearby Bristol) and we’ve been looking for a place just like UAL for a while. Anyway we spent our wedding anniversary here on a Friday night and everything was just about perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. The welcome was warm, the menu was interesting and delicious and the atmosphere was fun and the service faultless. Highly recommended, we’ll be back before our next anniversary!

One of the best meals I’ve had for a long time. 4 of us eating for lunch and we all enjoyed every mouthful. Summer truffle tagliatelle was 🔥🔥 as was the monkfish. The kind of place where you need to order extra bread in order to mop up every little bit of sauce left on your plate!

Just go. Seriously, just go! Jules is a fantastic hostess, waitress and expeditor of eight tables and Rob was the single amazing chef in a small open kitchen. Combining these two people with a passion for hospitality and food and you get a wonderfully curated local menu, a small upstairs restaurant with naturally elegant dishes, and a upscale but relaxed atmosphere that will give you an experience great enough to question other food in the first place. 5/5 stars. The chalkboard menu changes based on what’s in season and fresh fare that day. From start to finish everything had an amazing flavour profile, was cooked to perfection, and a wonderful wine that made the dishes sing. The desserts are from the Bakery run by day below, so yes, they are literally the icing on the cake. Enjoy one of the best experiences Bath has to offer, and head on up to this Upstairs Restaurant at Landrace!

Landrace is worth the visit. First and foremost the staff are friendly and helpful. I was eating alone and they made sure I didn’t feel uncomfortable. They recommended a wine which was enjoyable and paired well with the food. I had the salami, cheese fritters (which everyone seems to order) followed by the Cavatelli and mutton ragu which was superb. It is a sharing menu and there was certainly too much food for one person but it would have been the perfect amount for two. I finished on the custard tart with blood orange which rounded the meal perfectly. It was expensive for one but realistically the bill which I have shared in the photos reflects two person order. I would add that the decor is simple and tasteful and you have an open kitchen if you enjoy people watching. It had great ambience. You do access via a spiral staircase through the bakery which adds to the experience. Get booking and enjoy!

Another super dinner at Landrace. Mackerel and Ewes curd starters (both with fresh peas and herbs). Hake with potatoes and butter/leak sauce for mains (the highlight). And finally, custard tart & rhubarb for pudding. All wonderful.
