Most of the food was great, just extremely expensive.

Great ambience, service and incredible food. What a great family feel restaurant. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

It was okay—a little pricy, but you get 25% off during the weekday. I don’t think I’d want to pay full price, though. The gyros looked like a hefty portion, but it was just padded out with a lot of fries. I was expecting the spanakopita to be flakier, so it wasn’t anything to rave about. The taramasalata was nothing particular, too, and I’m normally a big fan of it. Furthermore, I didn’t like that you had to order pita separately for the dips. Friendly service and pleasant ambience, but it’s not worth the price for me.

We visited Jars Meze as a large group, with a variety of dietary requirements including coeliac, vegan & vegetarian . The staff looked after us excellently, took the dietary requirements seriously and made us feel very welcome. Everyone found something delicious to eat and really enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere, surroundings and staff at the restaurant are lovely too. Highly recommend a visit!

The service was great, very pleasant waiters. The food was also nice. It tasted authentically greek. That said, I found it quite expensive for the portion size.

If you are looking for the closest thing to authentic greek food, this is definitely worth your time when in Bath. The menu was so heavenly I had to run from this place for fear of overeating. Mind you, I sat next to a couple that loved it so much last night, they had to come back again today! Everything was served to perfection. Téleios

Great little Greek restaurant serving all the traditional foods. We had a selection of dishes, all great. Service and staff are very good . We will return. Lovely food.

Booked this restaurant based on good reviews. We waited 40 minutes for olives then starters 45 minutes in. My daughter had a starter which had filo pastry. The pastry was not crispy it was rubbery and hard to cut. We complained to be told the pastry is like that because it's how customers prefer it! My daughter could not eat it. The main courses came, mine was moussaka which was made with pork. It was cold in the middle and not edible. I complained to be told the chefs do not check if it is hot in the middle. There were microwaves constantly pinging! We left hungry and went elsewhere. We paid for one starter one main which also wasn't nice and was also not eaten, and a bottle of prosecco which was £30. The only good thing was the male waiter who was lovely and very helpful even though he was extremely busy.

Our favourite place to eat when in Bath! Admittedly we are huge fans of Greek food, and whilst there are numerous delightful places to eat in the city, Jars Meze just ticks every box for us. Sadly my phone camera doesn’t do the food justice, but the ‘deconstructed’ Chicken Gyros (pitta bread thoughtfully placed to the side - no soggy bottom here), whilst the chicken sits atop seasoned chips, with a scattering of fresh crisp onion, accompanied by a small salad of leaves with vinegarette dressing and a tasty helping of Tatziki. Meanwhile the husbands Beef Stifado (hearty cuts of beef and perfectly cooked shallots) had him driven to near silence, interjected with sounds of happy munching and groans which would have probably made it to the final cut of When Harry Met Sallys infamous restaurant scene. Washed down with a bottle of cold Mythos and the blackest of Greek coffees, we were almost transported to our last holiday in Santorini (many moons ago), but thankfully, Bath is a damn sight cheaper to get to so we’re counting the days till we can head back to Jars for another delicious meal, where the only difficult decision will be what to pick from the menu.

We've visited Bath several times and consistently enjoyed fine cuisine. Opting for Greek food due to its reliable quality, we chose Jars Meze. Regrettably, it proved a disappointment – the £17 Gyros was not only pricier than anticipated but also lacked the promised authenticity from Corfu as it was cold, dry and tzatziki was a embarrassing size and tase. The portion, though not minimal, failed to justify the steep cost. For those unfamiliar with Greek cuisine, it's advisable to seek a more accurate representation elsewhere. In essence, reconsider dining at Jars Meze altogether.

We stopped in on a rainy night when they were about to close for the day and was greeted by a gentleman that took pride in his appearance, service, and products! We had a baklava that was probably the best we have ever had! I would not miss this stop if you are in Bath, UK. I’m sure there are other places that serve the same products but the whole experience was great at this one!

I went with my family to celebrate my mum's birthday and attention and the food couldn't been better. The food was amazing, the moussaka was authentic and very tasty and the attention from the team made our dinner great. We would recommend it for special occasions and we will be back for sure. Food very spicy, plenty of onion and paprika, not typical for the Greek food. From the tzatziki you could feel only the garlic powder. Bread full of oil.

Incredible dinner spot! Lovely warm service and a cosy atmosphere. The baked aubergine dish was mouthwatering and the pita bread was so tasty and fresh. My whole family and I loved everything we tried.

You immediately feel like you're in Greece. The decoration is on point. From a food point of view, you will still feel hungry if you take only one plate as a main course. The pork was amazing but had to be accompanied with some other sides. There was some seafood on the menu but most of them were not available. My friend had had the squid plate and found it okay at best.

We went to jars meze between Christmas and new year. We were quite shocked at how long we had to wait to get served / wait for our food. It took approx an hour to get served. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like it was just us that day as we heard the waitress complaining that another table had to wait for an hour and that they were unhappy with the service. Perhaps they were just particular busy and understaffed in the christmas period. However, the waitresses complaining prevented me from asking for any additional dishes/drinks as we felt bad for overwhelming them. Most of the food was quite nice but I would say it was somewhat overpriced for what it was. The pita bread was quite dry. Given we had ordered mezze dishes, we would have much preferred that dishes came out to the table as they were ready to prevent the long wait time. As there were so many dishes, they didn't fit fully on the table and some were cold by the time we got round to eating them.

Food was overpriced for what it was. The Gyros came on tiny plates with a massive portion of tasteless chicken. A few bits of dry pitta and a jar of tasteless sauce to go with it. We were waiting for drinks for so long that they didn’t come out until the food came out. The restaurant was barely full so there was no excuse to wait for a glass of wine and a soft drink for so long. Extremely expensive .. at £50 you would hope for better. Very disappointing.

Both my friend and I thought the salad was overpriced for what it was. We thought we were ordering main dishes but what we got was far more of a side dish. This in itself was not a huge issue, but when we raised this issue with management we were greeted with an unbelievable level of rudeness. An extremely unpleasant experience. Of course there will be some response to this, trying to discredit me, or worse. I never complain in restaurants and review very generously. Just check out the negative reviews for this place, and responses by management, to see a flavour of this attitude.

Everything was amazing. The menu is clearly labelled with gf etc which makes ordering very easy. We had the Greek salad to start which was incredibly fresh and the Greek red wine complimented it perfectly. Pork and chicken gyros was so delicious but I couldn't finish it so took it home. Stunning complimentary digestif at the end too. We will travel to Bath just to revisit one day!

I came looking for a quick lunch, and indeed the food came very quickly. That was the highlight. All the rest was just mediocre: really dry and oversalted meat in gyros, overall quality of food the same as in a cheap kebab, yet the price was above £20, no WiFi and absolutely no mobile signal inside, and I had to wait very long for my bill. The kitchen staff had to ring for waiters a lot, as there was no more room for them to put the food but no one came to take it. But the worst was that the food was simply not fresh, it felt like it has been made several hours ago.

Went here for an engagement meal with my family and it was really lovely. Authentic Greek food and every dish was amazing!

One of my favorite meals on a 2 week tour of UK. Delicious baked aubergine fish and amazing salad & bread. Sat outside, cozy w nice views of the avenue.

Had a lovely dinner in Jars - it was busy for a Wednesday evening so we did wait a little to order/pay but the service was so friendly and the food was amazing so definitely worth it. We ordered a mixture of meze dishes (the smoked aubergine was our fave!) 😍

Ordered two gyros. Huge portions with no taste. Meat was chewy and chips tasted like cooked from frozen bag. Overpriced.

First time we have visited here what a charming place it is atmosphere here was great and piped Greek music. The staff were very polite and so helpful and excellent service. The food myself and wife had was superb, will be returning here again in the near future. It had everything that a meal should have. 😊

We went to jars meze this evening and it was truly incredible. Service was spot on couldn’t fault them. We went for the mixed meat meze and it was all lovely we genuinely couldn’t decide what was best. The pitta bread was super fresh. When we came into the restaurant we were greeted nicely and they talked to us and asked how we were doing seated us and our server came over got us menus and asked about any dietary requirements and were lovely in insuring by even asking the kitchen that there wasn’t anything we couldn’t have. We have said the next time we’re in bath we’ll be coming back. They even brought us some ouzo after the meal and it was a lovely way to round off a lovely evening. In short very welcoming, very helpful, very flavourful. All round an amazing place to eat

Extremely rude, horrible attitude. Came to visit Bath on a weekend for a solo trip, and they did not allow me to have a seat because it was just me 1 person. First, it was a big table that was empty so I didn’t make it an issue if they wanted to guve to 4 people. But then a small table for two got emptied and I sat there. And they came and told me it was reserved andI had to leave. It was not reserved as the people they wanted to put there just arrived, I saw them. What a horrible attitude that was, happened only this one time in my life!

We ate here on a Friday night after a week in Bath. It's a cosy place with seating outside and in, we ate upstairs in one of the 2 rooms. Had 5 mezes and pitta bread all very tasty and cooked well, especially the stuffed vine leafs. The service was particularly good, the young woman serving us was knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended.

A delicious Greek meze style (and starter/main) family run restaurant. The aubergine baked under cheese and the gigantes are highly recommended :) Warm and great service.

Food was not good. My husband ordered a Gyro.. terrible meal. Chicken was like shoe leather. I ordered prawn dish but got tiny overcooked shrimp. Don’t eat here.

Delicious food and very nice atmosphere

We came for a birthday meal for a gyros lover and we were not disappointed! Our servers were so helpful and kind, really accommodating for a gluten free member of the party (gf meal was just as amazing as the normal food which is very rare!). The atmosphere was lovely and an overall wonderful evening!

My girlfriend and I went for a meal to celebrate her birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The service was exceptional, the food came quickly and was delicious, and the restaurant was so pretty. Would definitely recommend!

Hidden gem, been dining out in bath since lockdown ended and can’t believe I didn’t find this place sooner. Must try…

So glad we found this place. We had a very quick trip to the Bristol/Bath area and in our first night we had no choice but to go to a generic chain restaurant. Typical overpriced rubbish food. Hoped we could find better in Bath for the following night. My daughter found this place by googling for a gluten free restaurant. Couldn’t book online so had to call up, so glad we did, it’s absolutely amazing. The food was all so delicious and perfectly cooked. We took advice from the waiter on how much to order and it was a perfect amount. Such happy and polite service too. Little gem, and all for less than the appalling generic chain too! If we ever find ourselves back in Bath we’ll be coming back for more!

Absolutely excellent. Great vibe about the small place, especially sitting outside in the narrow street. Service was a little slow, but it was very busy at lunchtime, around 1 on a Thursday. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, explaining options. Food was top tier and plentiful. We had the gyros, one chicken, and one lamb. Both were excellent. Came with chips, side salad, and some pitta. Highly recommend👍

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Food was fantastic, the portions were large, and the dessert was basically perfect. A good menu for picky eaters and an amazing menu for food lovers. Can't recommend enough; you have to try it if you're anywhere near or in Bath.

Creta flashback without the hangover

Usually when I go to a Greek restaurant I end up eating Gyros but this time I wanted to venture beyond this and ordered for some greek sausages grilled and Octopus (with salad, chickpeas and peppers), they were fantastic!! We also had couple of dips with bread and it was so flavourful. I would definitely come back and if you are in Bath this is a must try place!! Do remember they close at 3pm and open back at 5pm if anyone looking to come at these times.

This is as close to being on a Greek Island as you get in the UK. Fantastic food and wonderful staff. I'd come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I lived closer!

First time visiting and sure it won’t be my last! Before even entering the restaurant, the outside reminded me of walking down the side streets of Lindos (where I usually visit in Greece). The staff as soon as we walked in were so friendly, accommodating and welcoming! It’s family run which is great to see and they looked after us really well. We sat by a bay window overlooking the street which added to the experience. I had Calamari for starter and Moussaka for main - both were outstanding and very filling - would even go as far to say it was better than meals I’ve had in Greece! Can’t wait to visit again, highly recommend :)

Came here looking for an easy dinner in bath, ordered the spanakopita (spinach and feta in filo pastry) disappointed with the dish as the pastry felt like semi set wall plaster and was piping hot from the microwave. Shared the moussaka as well and was delicious, although couple of dead leaves were found in the salad didnt really bothered me as the salad they gave was generous. Overall will still visit to try other dishes!

Nice concept but lacking the authentic style and taste of Greek mese. The Taramasalata was like a bright pink yoghurt with hardly any taste. The spanakopita tasted like it was made with ricotta not feta again lacking taste. The Greek wine came from Australia. Too much cost cutting with the ingredients not enough attention to authentic flavours.

One night in Bath and came across this awesome place. Waiting staff were really lovely. This place is a bit like Greek tapas but portions are pretty big. We had a selection of dishes; pork, beef, calamari, really good chips and a really nice traditional Greek salad. All the Food was amazing, the atmosphere was really nice, completely chilled out. We sat outside as it was a really warm evening, felt like we were on holiday abroad!

The service was excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. A wide variety of cocktails and they were delicious as well.

Excellent service, well done to the team! The food was excellent, great Mediterranean flavours, made me feel I was back in Greece in a nice taverna. My one and half year old and partner loved the food too! When I go back to Bath, I will definitely visit them again!

We went to this place for a morning Greek iced coffee, but to our disappointment, they informed us that we must order food in addition to the coffee. As Greeks visiting a Greek place, we found this lack of hospitality quite disheartening. It's truly unfortunate that they have such a restrictive policy. We won't be returning and will make sure to advise our Greek friends to avoid this place as well, given its unwelcoming atmosphere.

Dropped in last night and got a table outside. Chose the 2 person variety and it was very good, large portions, very tasty and well put together. The house wine paired very well. Service brilliant. Given a heads up that we'd have 1.5 hours which was good to know and understand . Not the cheapest but was happy to pay for the quality we received.

I'm so pleased the restaurant we were meant to be going to couldn't fit our table of 10 in. The staff were so accommodating, especially as a few of us had a few cocktails. We ate absolutely loads. I tried food I have never eaten before, including octopus and was blown away by how yummy it all was. Perfect restaurant to make my first visit to Bath memorable.

What a ripoff! This place is a throwback to the early 00’s late 90’s where no matter what cuisine you got a really bad imitation of reality. Imagine your worst 2am “Greek” takeaway, picture it on small plates and that’s what you get in this place. The food was far from genuine or well cooked at all for that matter. We ordered three small plates, 2 from the menu and one from the special (mussel) and a main. 2 of the small plates where really nothing to shout about, the mussels we had to send back because they were not even cooked. Almost £100 for that, they were at least nice enough to remove the mussels from our bill, which reduced to just over £90. There are plenty of takeaways in town where you can get fresher and better food than this for a fraction of the cost. It is beyond me that this place should have so many good reviews…

Jars Meze is a cozy and authentic Greek restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. The meze dishes are delicious and fresh, especially the aubergine dip and the kleftiko. The desserts are heavenly, especially the chocolate cake. It is one of the best Greek restaurants I have ever been to, and I highly recommend it.

The best Greek restaurant I’ve been to! Plus, one of the best restaurants overall. As a vegetarian sometimes the options are not amazing compared to the non veggie options. However, jars Meze it’s a great exception. I will definitely come to bath just to go to jars again! Ambience and service were also top notch!

Without wanting to sound like one of those pretentious people.... After living in Cyprus for a few years I can say...This is authentic food! Honestly 1 of the best Greek meals in UK that I've had. The flavours were all there, which alot of places sometimes lack, specifically the prawn saganaki oh my god. I'll be back to Bath soon specifically. And the orange polenta cake...also makes my mouth water thinking about it. The beautiful decoration inside nearly made me cry as they have fake Bougainvillea all over the ceiling and it made it feel so lovely. Service very good and friendly and they make sure to explain everything for you if needed. ευχαριστώ χ

The food was delicious! I got the (pork) gyros. It was a huge portion, and the pita bread was delicious. But the salad I got (classic Greek salad) was over 9 pounds, really pricey for what it was - a pretty small bowl chopped tomatoes, some greens, a nice block of feta cheese, olives. The atmosphere was really nice. We had a beautiful view out the window into a charming street.

Very friendly and welcoming, great helpful and knowledgeable staff, we were served by Cerys who was lovely and helpful. Hubbie had the Stifado, I had a veggie option. Sides were amazing and the taste took us back to holidaying in Corfu. Really authentic and the best Greek we've eaten in, in the UK. Cant wait to go back to try different dishes.
