Crescent Restaurant & Bar in Bath and North East Somerset

We love this restaurant and go whenever we can to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays as well as when we are just on a shopping jaunt in Bath. It is intimate and welcoming with food and hospitality that are always exceptional, courtesy of owners Simon and Leanne. In fact, it is our firm favourite!

Best breakfast I’ve had in Bath. The full Crescent breakfast was perfect, good quality food freshly prepared & excellent coffee. Nice ambiance and good lighting. Friendly welcome and exemplary service from Leanne.

Excellent venue, just off the Circus/ royal Crescent. Visited for our anniversary and couldn’t fault it. Great service, amazing food (and a great range for all tastes) would definitely recommend.

My friend and I dined here on the 15th Nov and we're so glad we chose here from the various places we looked at online - the welcome and service we received were fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely delicious, great wine too - if you're in/visiting Bath I would highly recommend you book at this restaurant, you're missing out if you don't!

We had just arrived in Bath , left our bags at the hotel and wandered into the city centre . Found ourselves on this lovely little road with cute shops and decided to lunch here at crescent restaurant. It was perfect , starting with a glass of Sancerre . Not many places have such a good choice of wine by the glass! Then we shared some of their dishes as we didn’t want to miss out. The superfood salad with Cajun chicken extra , flat bread with chorizo and baked Camembert ( yes greedy !) were lovely . The espresso was also a really good one ( I have had some truely awful ones over the years) Lovely couple running it . Who could ask for more !

Had a top Lunch here catching up with old pals. The food was tasty and varied and the staff team friendly, fun and attentive. A lovely afternoon in a warm and welcoming restaurant.

Managed a herd of post menopausal women with aplomb. Oh, and the food was really delicious!

Tables outside if you fancy al - fresco dining , we went inside to a compact but very comfortable sitting room setting. My wife liked the artwork on the walls. The food was absolutely superb , it's not often I have three courses but the menu was different and very tempting. The friendly staff were great and didn't hover or crowd you but left you to enjoy and saviour your meal .

The food is nice enough, but our group was seated in the basement, which was empty and soulless. Service was also quite slow, and I had to ask where our food was after about half an hour.

Owner and chef, Simon Hedges, said to me when I thanked him for the kind hospitality his family showed us, "You know, we just want people to feel like it's home away from home when they're here." And so it is at this great little restaurant nestled between the Royal Crescent and the Circus in Bath. We like to try numerous restaurants when we travel but we had such a good time and great meal here that we immediately booked a table for the next night as well. The food is prepared right before you, fresh and local. The wine list is solid, cocktails are great and the beers are cold. Don't miss this gem if you should ever be in Bath. Husband is carnivore and I am vegan. This restaurant had several choices for me to choose from so we were both very happy. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely. Overall a wonderful experience

I had pan fried hake which was really tasty and decent portion with new potatoes veg and caper sauce . It's in a nice quiet location away from the busy shopping area . Prices reasonable and really friendly and welcoming service . Five Stars!

A local gem near the Royal Crescent run by husband and wife team of Simon and Leanne. Simple bistro/ English food excellently produced by Simon. Leanne is front of house and runs the show very efficiently. The wines are excellent . The prices are reasonable, the portions generous. There is a real buzz about the place. We shall return.

My daughter and I made reservations for last night and were treated to just a fantastic meal! I would eat here time and again - try the bread and aioli! My flatbread was delicious.

Serendipity brought my friend and I to this delightful, intimate restaurant just yards from the Royal Crescent in Bath, where we enjoyed a truly superb lunch. Owners Simon and Leanne have a great line in welcoming banter. From the ground floor space you can watch Simon prepare your food in his neat kitchen. Leanne and Leah look after the service beautifully. The restaurant has been established for a little over a year but the owners have many years experience. We enjoyed potted salmon and prawn with dill and toasted sourdough, just packed with flavour. Cool and creamy, it was an ideal starter for a warm summer's day. Our main was pan fried cod loin with sweet potato and samphire, we added roasted heritage carrots and tenderstem broccoli. Cooked to order, the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this superb restaurant. Update: Revisited on another trip to Bath, Leanne and Simon were able to adapt to gluten free dietary needs and we enjoyed a superb lunch. Warm welcome, cosy ambience and beautiful food elegantly presented make this a definite stop whenever I'm in the area.

The guys here are second to none. A hidden GEM of a place, away from the madding crowds in the centre of Bath. I've been going here since they first opened a couple of years ago. Since then it's become a dining Hot-spot. Make sure you book........ The food is wonderful, service impeccable (and always with a smile). It's rather like being invited to a seriously well catered private dining room. Love it, and will keep coming back.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough! The food was out of this world & the service faultless. I wasn’t quite ready to eat when I arrived but was allowed to sit & enjoy my cocktail without being rushed to order my food. Such a lovely spot to sit outside & I wasn’t bundled into a corner as so often happens to women eating out on their own! Having said that, I found Bath generally a very welcoming place but this was the best meal by far. 👍

All dishes were amazing, the sauces were splendid! Highly recommend chicken supreme and salmon terrine. Everything reminded me of a decent French cuisine. Wonderful!

Great coffee! Exactly how well roasted and prepared coffee should taste. During our week stay in Bath, we breakfasted there 3 times. Very comfortable and pleasant spot to eat outside. The inside looked nice but we prefer to be outside when the weather allows. Great, friendly people! Highly recommended!!

We popped in here for a coffee on the way to visit the Royal Crescent. Unfortunately, our coffee roast was very bitter, but that maybe because the water was almost boiling and we visited on the wrong day. The food that could be seen did look inviting.

We stopped randomly after wandering for lunch. The food, service and price were all exceptional. A lovely family run restaurant off the beaten track. Next time we stay in Bath 💯 will be visiting for dinner. This place is really fantastic!! Also a quirky shop opposite who does prints of your eyes 👀.

We booked this small restaurant based upon the good previous reviews. Not at all disappointed, the service was superb. We had a camembert starter to share and it was great. Two steak specials were also excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

We came here for dinner and we were not disappointed. Friendly helpful efficient service and good food. We both had fish with one of the dishes selected from the specials board. Both dishes were very tasty and enjoyable! We also shared the lemon posset dessert. Two mains, 1 shared dessert and a wine each came to around £75 with service. We would happily return.

Great food, lovely friendly welcome as we arrived and wonderful service . Very able to deal with food intolerances within our group . The fish dishes we chose were cooked to perfection . Obvious that this is frequented by regulars and it had a great atmosphere . Well done Lianne and Simon !

What an amazing find! A wonderful restaurant tucked away on a lovely street close to The Royal Crescent. Everything was fantastic, the hosts, the service, the ambience and the food & drink. Really first class, an experience we’ll remember for a long time. I can’t recommend highly enough. Not surprised to discover they’re the #1 restaurant in Bath when I logged in here. We’ll be back soon!

What a fantastic find. Fabulous service, we were warmly greeted as we came through the door. Excellent food and wine. This is a small independent restaurant which I literally can not fault. I would happily go there again and again. They clearly had regulars - I recommend booking, if you just turn up and you may find they are fully booked !

Called in for breakfast when we visited Bath after seeing the reviews here. Well to make this short the place isn't bad but not worthy of some of the more gushing reviews here. My wife and I both had the full breakfast with tea (her) and coffee. Breakfast was fairly good (and nice and hot) but very average sliced bread for the toast. Coffee was Ok but not spectacular. The tea was just a Twinings teabag and not very good. For these prices it is not unreasonable to expect good loose leaf tea and decent artisan bread. OK but could do better.

The restaurant itself it’s very decent. There were three people in the middle of the dinning area and another two at the end of the bench. All were drinking. When we arrived ( my parents and I), it’s about 15:00. We were there a bit late for lunch. Pick this place as they got quite good google review. When we went in, we asked if we want to eat or just to drink. We wanted some food and given a menu. Since my dad has no upper teeth and with a series of food allergy that only gluten-free and soft food could satisfy his stomach. We could not expect every single restaurant could have provision satisfying his condition. Therefore, we always bring him a flask of soft hot food. After ordered food for my mum and myself, my dad started drinking his own food. The customer, sitting in the middle, started ridicule us with the chef. His voice is loud enough that we could not avoid hearing. The chef himself is nice. (He didn’t say anything bad to embarrass us. 🙏🏼). In the meantime, my dad got choked. The lady asked the chef to give us some tissue to clean up the area. We at the same time apologised for the mess we caused. She said “you know you could leave me anything “. 🙂 what a heartfelt answer 🙃 After my dad finished his “drink”, he went outside to wait for us to avoid being stared by the customers even it was jus 2degC outside. We ordered a flat iron steak with chips and a linguine diavola. A pot of tea and a double espresso. The flat iron is just well made as medium rare. But there were too much salt on the chips. The linguine is a bit sour to me while the sauce seems open from can. The double espresso is a decent one for me. May be with my dad situation. We should not be dinning in a restaurant. We should just grab some sandwich and picnic in the park to avoid British old men (yes, is men not man) laughing at us in a public area. Oh yes, with this service they charge 12.5% of services charge. It’s optional. But at the case that my dad didn’t order anything from the restaurant. We are so much willing to pay for the service charges as tipping. But this kind of services… (provided that this is not stated on the menu) …… absolutely not worth any service charge 🙂 thank you. It does widen my horizons.

We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant on our final day in Bath. It was pouring down with rain and we had walked up to see the famous Crescent houses. We needed lunch and found this amazing place. The owner greeted us very warmly and took our coats and seated us . We immediately felt 'at home' and relaxed. Very cosy, warm atmosphere and the service was lovely. We ordered lunch and our daughters enjoyed the sizzling prawns as a starter with olives too. Simply lovely. I had the chicken burger which was to die for. My husband had the Ox Cheek which was beautiful. Our daughters had Burgers which were honestly better than the Ivy Burgers. The food was so fresh and literally kitchen to table . Ironically, we sat next to another family from Lymm who we got chatting to and they were regulars as one of their family members now lives in Bath! We can not fault this restaurant at all. The owners are just so lovely. We plan to return to Bath again and will definitely visit this restaurant and recommend it to everyone who visits. Thank you for making our final day so lovely after a dreary wet start. I also enjoyed the large glass of Rose Wine !!! Lovely to meet you too . I wish you had a restaurant in our village !!! xxxx

Excellent little restaurant between the Royal Crescent and Circus. Great food, I had potted prawn and salmon; and flat iron steak. The staff were really friendly and we had a nice chat. Definitely recommended.

Probably the best Valentine 💝 meal I’ve ever had. The mushroom rarebit was exquisite, Sea Bass amazing and the rose infused panna cotta the best ever! Actually I eat here regularly and they never fail to impress on every level. Thank you and well done 👏🏻

Amazing atmosphere, great service, delicious coffee

We are just back from a weekend visiting Bath to celebrate my husband‘s birthday. We visited the Crescent Restaurant and Bar based on Tripadvisor reviews and we are so glad we did, we spent a wonderful evening there. The restaurant is family run, it has a wonderfully cosy ambiance, the owners are extremely attentive without in any way being obtrusive and the food was OMG!!! DELICIOUS!!! To start my husband had spiced cauliflower soup and I had chilli prawns both were absolutely amazing. Actually I can’t stop thinking about prawns they were that delicious!! We both plumped for the pan fried cod loin on sweet potato for our mains, also delicious. In fact everything we ordered including drinks were wonderful. So thanks to the lovely team at the Crescent for making our evening so special and memorable!

Had the most wonderful birthday meal, where the food is truly beautiful. I regret not coming here sooner! What a beautiful little restaurant. They kindly brought out desserts with candles wishing a Happy Birthday for us at my reservation totally unprompted after hearing a mention of a birthday today. Endlessly thankful for a wonderful evening. Thank you so much and cannot wait to return soon 🤍

We came here for a birthday lunch. The food was really tasty, but at the weekend it would be wise to book a table.

We happened upon this restaurant and were so glad we did! It was the best food we have eaten in ages. The service was attentive and relaxed - which is hard to achieve. The food flavours worked so well together and the ingredients were fresh. We had heritage carrots and feta, and a ham hock terrine to start. For mains, we had ox cheek and a belly pork dish from the specials board. Genuinely delicious. If we were in Bath longer we would definitely have returned!

So glad we ventured up here from the main drag. The food was so delicious (hard to choose what to have!!) and was the best food from our trip to Bath. The service was outstanding- and all staff really welcoming and friendly. Fair pricing. Lovely ambience. Would definitely return!!

Lovely cosy Cafe which we chose due to the great reviews. We went for a full breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The food was perfect and worth the wait as it was obviously fresh and cooked to order and beautifully presented. The only gripe I would have is a 12.5% service charge which is automatically added to the bill. Any tip/service charge, I believe, should be at the customer's discretion unless it is a large party.

Really tasty, have eaten here a few times since (and was a long standing visitor to the restaurant that stood here prior). Portion sizes hit and miss but every bite is drool worthy.

Stopped for a coffee and a hot chocolate. Stayed outside even though it was cold. Such a charming street and a cute shop.

We found the Crescent Restaurant by chance when visiting Bath for the Christmas market. We didn't want to have breakfast in the middle of the shopping centre and we're delighted to find the Crescent in a quiet area, just a short walk away. Our breakfasts were delicious, good value for money and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. We visited on two successive days and will remember the Crescent on any future visits to Bath.

I didn't even get to buy coffee, dispite there being spare tables, a rude guy would not acommodate my elderly mum who was freezing and I. I was so upset with the comment from the guy saying "You can look at me all you like, my answer is no we are full" Not to worry we had stunning coffee in Berdoulat!!

We came here all the way from the Midwest of the United States. We specifically planned our UK trip around visiting this incredible restaurant where you’re greeted like family and feel like you’re sitting in your family room, but having some of the most delicious food in the world! Unpretentious tipis. Fun. Warm. Delicious food and drinks. What could be better?

This was our first time at the Crescent which opened earlier this year. Arriving for lunch on Saturday, the owners (who are chef and front of house) were very welcoming and the service was excellent. The menu was interesting, making it hard to choose! When the food came, it was beautifully presented and, most importantly, really delicious. Definitely will be on our regular shortlist of local restaurants. Highly recommended.

Just awesome. Our 4th visit to this restaurant, this time with extended family. Simon and Leeanne were outstanding hosts and the food was impeccable. Our party of 8 had 3 courses and every dish was a hit. Atmosphere was great too. This restaurant is a cut above and thoroughly recommended.

A fantastic place to eat in Bath. The kitchen is right in front of you. The service was delightful. We were fortunate to eat at the same time as some of the locals. The time we ate was before the 5:30 time others opened luckily for us because we changed plans and ate here. Delightful food. Great desserts.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Crescent, the food was some of the best food we've ever tasted (cod, sweet potato, chorizo and samphire with garlic butter and braised ox cheek with roasted new potatoes and crispy onions in a tomato ragu). Service was incredibly friendly and quick, love that it's run by a couple and they do the main serving and cooking themselves. Could not recommend this place more! Definitely one to watch and book ahead to guarantee a table!

Beautiful family-run independent restaurant. Great food, unfussed service, friendly, specials board, spritz menu, limited seating so booking is essential at peak times! So glad we found this place for a relaxed lunch on a Bank Holiday weekend.

We weren’t too hungry so we ordered one portion of flat iron steak with garlic butter to share. We were pleasantly surprised when the chef divided the one portion of food into two plates for us. We really appreciate the thoughtful gesture. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the fries came freshly fried and piping hot. The garlic butter complemented the steak so well. So delish! Thank you very much for a wonderful meal.

Visited Saturday 19th around 2pm just for drinks (4 of us outside) Waitress needs a personality change was very dour faced & curt & it's wasp central. Thank goodness we didnt dine there and we got great service for lunch at the very delicious green bird up the street.

Received a warm welcome and the food was delicious, my main course the was Hake fish with a beautiful sauce. It was delicious and a good selection of wines.

Another great find in Bath! The food was delicious 😋 and our server was fantastic. Sorry we didn't get her name but she was really sweet. We tried the Beetroot dip, Superfood Salad and Seafood Linguine. Reasonable prices, highly recommend!

I’m not entirely sure why I’m doing this review other than Google asked me to! All the earlier reviewers have it exactly right and have probably said it way better than I could. One of those earlier reviewers recommended Simon and Leanne’s place to us and we weren’t disappointed. Most enjoyable evening. Great food, atmosphere and service. It’s a must do when you’re in Bath.
