Urban Tandoor in Bristol, City of

Loved it! My friends and I were big fans of Urban Tandoor already from their social media and as we had made the five hour journey to the South West for a friend’s wedding, we decided we had to travel that little bit further to finally go to Urban Tandoor! The restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious with great veggie options - the chilli naan in particular was the best I’ve ever had. The interior is very pretty and the staff were wonderful. We were almost an hour late because of car troubles and they were so accommodating and understanding. Worth the hype, worth the journey! Would gladly return if we are ever in the area again.

Online order that never arrived. Placed via the Urban Tandoor restaurant. The restaurant was very unhelpful in fulfilling the order. Money taken, no food arrived. Fail.

What a break from the norm! Fabulous night, tasty food, Goan Fish curry is delicious, fun and light atmosphere, quick attentive service. Lots of smiles everywhere. Go.

Great ambiance and lovely food. Staff were lovely and when they heard it was my birthday the staff member told me to wait and brought me out a complimentary desert, even as he was closing down and cleaning, which was delicious and a nice surprise. Would come again and recommended to all parties.

Ordered a takeaway for the train home about two weeks earlier. Could not pay until the day, but they kept in contact. Food ready on time. It was delicious. Thanks for trusting me to turn up.

Arrived early and unlike other reviews there was no queue and indeed some free tables - it was early Sunday evening though to be fair. Staff were very attentive and did not feel rushed at all. Indeed having eaten here many times I’ve never ever felt rushed. Food was as always amazing. 10/10 and I’m very critical indeed. Hot, clearly fresh and not reheated and the tastes are stuning. Great atmosphere with ‘happy birthday’ played a few times - a candle in a desert arrived to the table and the whole restaurant applauds. ‘Congratulations’ also played but unsure who as no announcement which is the norm. I was delighted that the owner came and sat for a few minutes, having recognised me as repeat customer, and also that I always come in with someone else and never alone. I was able to tell him that she was on a vacation with family and so I came in as I knew I’d get a superb meal. That’s amazing service and just shows how they treat their customers - worried why I was alone and he wanted to touch base. I will return again and cannot recommend Urban highly enough. The socials, if you watch them, are top top drawer and yet the food and staff are better. If you want quality Indian cuisine with something different atmosphere wise (and see the social stars) then you must go in. The only surprise is that they don’t yet sell merchandise - I’d buy!!!!!

Some of the tastiest curries I've ever had!

Arrived to stressed out staff, placed on a table by some stairs, no atmosphere, although the decor inside was nice. Staff were so quick to get you in and get you out again. No different to any other Indian Restaurant in the UK. No wow factor. Maybe my expectations were different due to the instagram videos and social hype - maybe expected a party atmosphere or just something a little out of the ordinary. Was busy as a Friday evening, but not rammed. Was in and out in 35 minutes, food was rushed, staff miserable, food was a mixture. Starters was actually great, at least the paneer and achari lamb. Bhajis were that dry and bland we left them. Mains were average, summing up the whole evening. Was actually really disappointing having been privileged to eat in some quite cool places across the UK and world. Left saying to each other "oh, was that it!?". We offer an enjoyable, memorable dining experience. Visit our local curry houses for exciting interiors and stylish hospitality. Bit confused by the awards that are claimed, as we live in Cheltenham, where the British Curry Awards claim the Best Restaurant South West: Prithvi Restaurant, Cheltenham - where we have been and it is out of the world amazing. We have also visited: Best Restaurant West Midlands: Lasan, Birmingham. Both of these places are miles above here in terms of food, service and atmosphere. Didn't get a memorable dining experience or stylish hospitality, sorry Urban Tandoor - at least on this occassion.

Absolutely delicious. We tried multiple dishes and each of them were excellent. Everything tasted so fresh and authentic. The service was very pleasant, and food was served promptly. Thank you Carlos (our server) for a great experience.

Food was quite nice. Only the naans were lack of flavour. The atmosphere was a bit too dark. Service was moderate.

Amazing decor. Delicious food and beer. Offering some real different meals and beverages from a standard Indian restaurant. Very friendly guys and after a recommendation from a friend make sure you check out their Instagram vids. Hilarious! Go there immediately

Came in for a quiet birthday meal, my pals informed the staff when I was at the loo. So embarrassed, however the staff brought out a lovely wee bit of cake at the end of the meal. Fantastic service, food is beautiful

Finally tried Urban Tandoor after many months of meaning to try it. The food was delicious, lovely creamy curries and a peswari naan to die for! Very attentive, friendly service. Reasonably priced, especially for such an enjoyable dining experience. I would also recommend the Palak Kofta for any vegetarians, huge portion and delicious flavour! Will definitely be back.

Dreadful all round. Can hardly hear yourself think let alone speak. Crammed in. Table area smelt of urine. Food unbelievably spicy (been to Sri Lanka so used to hot), this was another level. Had to leave over half the dish. In there 50 mins. Worst restaurant ever been in. Boiling hot. Noisy. Food not good at all. Would not recommend and none of the party will ever return. How it has won awards is totally and utterly baffling.

Amazing food and excellent service! All items we ordered were delicious and beautifully presented. It made my daughter’s day when they gave her a surprise cake and a free drink as it was her birthday. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Amazing atmosphere, beautifully designed restaurant , very friendly and helpful service that goes above and beyond. Food was perfect and faultless and would highly recommend. Only fault was being kindly asked if we could finish up as they had another customer waiting for our table. It was my dad’s birthday and had arrived slightly early so was quite disappointed in having to leave as we could have easily stayed for longer talking over a drink. Would have been nice to be offered another table somewhere else in the restaurant but would still go back.

Heard about these guys on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X….and Tik Tok, so when work brought me to Bristol, I had to pay a visit! Exceptional food (the lamb shank is highly recommended) , efficient and friendly service and a lovely vibe (even on a Monday night). Will definitely be back!!!! Thanks so much

A lovely meal - will definitely be coming again.

Food was OK however the service could be improved. We ordered snacks to start and food but they all arrived at the same time after 15 minutes. This was not a big issue. But after roughly 20 min into having dinner, two waiters came on several occasions to ask us if we were done when we were clearly still eating. One waiter came again to our table to say that they usually hold the table for 90 minutes. To which we replied that we had been there for 40 minutes and we're still eating. He dismissed our response and said he was just letting us know. Not professional or customer focused at all. We quickly ate and left. The place is loud and dark for a chilled evening and pleasant conversation.

Busy place so booking was necessary. Large place with a few group parties going on. It's a bit more upbeat than your regular couples setting we found but a very friendly service. I ordered the lamb shank which was very tasty. I also ordered garlic naan but when it arrived, it already had garlic naan as part of the dish. So now I had two portions. my wife ordered the mixed tandori but she wasn't that impressed with it. Bottle of wine and poppadoms and the bill was a very reasonable £88. It's a nice place but more suited to groups than couples imo.

The food and the service was great. Definitely recommend it.

I've been in Bristol for a few days on holiday, and this is the best food and service this city has to offer for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Thank you so much to the waiters and chefs in this restaurant. We will be back

Headed here on a whim as we were just getting into Bristol in the evening. Booked with them and wasn't disappointed! A warm welcome when we got in, and our Italian waiter was exceptional! A big thank you to him as he made us laugh and was always helpful. Our food was always piping hot, came in good time (it was a busy night) and delicious! It filled us up happily and of course we had dessert. All in all, definitely visit this restaurant as it serves top notch Indian food with lovely staff. 5/5 stars!

The food was delicious however the amount of drunk football loving fans and hen does we encountered on me and my partners anniversary meal was very unpleasant. We had to ask to be moved to a different table as this table of men were shouting and hollering. Throwing food around the place and acting very childish and immature with questionable levels of intoxication in their system.

Had the most fantastic meal last nite, me and my sister ordered starters and mains, the prawn main dish was honestly the nicest meal I've ever had, the gentleman serving us was very knowledgeable, he even organised my meals to not have coriander which I dislike.if in Bristol I highly recommend this restaurant

Based on TikTok videos the kids loved this restaurant. The food was surprisingly good. We were upstairs which was loud and cramped and unpleasant. The service was rushed and the place was really busy mid week.

Will absolutely be coming again, the food was 10/10!! I highly recommend the jalfrezi and the Naga chicken! Raghu was a brilliant waiter and nothing was too much trouble, next anniversary we'll for sure be back! X

Overall great food. We tried pappad(2/5), dal makhani(4/5), bonda(4/5), garlic naan(5/5). Atmospher was good too.

Came all the way from London for this social media hype. And this place didn’t disappoint. Tandoor baked foods were amazing, dips were insane, naan was perfect, butter chicken was beautiful. Pramot was the best host and attentive. Decor was authentic Indian with an urban twist. Will I make the trip again? Hell yeah!

Decent atmosphere, a bit dark not sure why they would want you to eat in the dark. The food was average far from the best Indian food i have ever eaten but exceptable. The service was ok but never been so rushed didn't even finish the poppadoms before they were moving things to bring out the mains. Was so fast it must have been pre cooked. Food was 6/10 Service was 5/10 (due to rushing) Atmosphere was 6/10 due to being too dark.

I must say was a bit concerned when was seated as really busy and the place although highly designed is a bit strange, it's like an indoor market , however once seated the staff are great the ambience happy and lively and the food for the amount of covers they do is pretty bob on, guinea fowl dish was superb, mixed grill was massive maybe too big, sides were pretty standard, would recommend 👍

I visited urban tandoor on my birthday. It was an amazing experience for me. Literally they made my day. Their service is excellent and very professional. They made sure we had a great lunch and even surprised me with complimentary cake and drink and with a birthday song. You guys are the best. Talking about the food it was excellent and yumm. Perfect blend of spices and taste.

Most authentic Indian restaurants with amazing food, full of flavour and massive portions that you will need help to finish 🥰 We keep coming back for all special occasions and whenever friends and family visits us ;) highly recommend!

I’ve been following Urban Tandoor on Instagram for ages and finally had a chance to visit. Wow! The decor is very cool, the food is delicious, and the service is great. Definitely go if you can!

Urban Tandoor has been a staple when it comes to celebrating nice occasions or just fulfilling that Indian cuisine craving. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is superb and extremely accessible. The balance in quality and cost is what makes us come here every time.

We have never eaten such excellent Indian food before! An explosion of different but matching tastes. Very nice atmosphere and friendly service! Definitely a must-do!

Amazing Indian Cusine in the heart of Bristol - couldn't find any fault; best Indian food

I had naan tinted glasses on immediately when welcome by one of the stars of the videos. Then we walk in and the moustache guy is there. It’s a lot bigger than it seems in the videos and they’re very fast at turning over tables but we were left to our own devices and had a lovely Portuguese waiter. I found the food great. I could appreciate the subtle spice of the samosas and the bursts of flavour in the jalfrezi. Naan bread was incredible.

Absolutely amazing restaurant-service is insane people checking in always but not overbearing-food was delicious-I will be full for a week and the decor is beautiful. I don’t feel like we are in Bristol at all. Best Indian we’ve eaten.
