Delicious food with a limited, but plentiful, selection. Service was great... Very quick and without fuss. Restaurant has a good atmosphere with plenty of buzz and dim lighting. Really enjoyed my visit.

This place was very dark, could barely make out the floor as we were seated. As it's quite a small restaurant, the noise of other customers nearby gets quite intense. The calamari I had to start was awful, I think they forgot to season it with anything. However, the mixed grill I had afterwards was superb. Massive chunks of lean meat, and very well cooked and seasoned. Service was fine, and prices are okay.

A large group of us went here so we pre-ordered the food. The food came very quickly and was pretty good (no real complaints about the food). The place was jam packed and really loud. I was unable to hear what the person opposite me was saying. As soon as we were finished, we were rushed out the door as they needed the table for another group. Like I say, food was good, but was super busy and loud. Maybe I'd come again, just at a time when it was much quieter.

Came here for a Christmas doo its very hyped up online wouldn’t say it met the expectation food is ridiculously spicy for mild curry however the food has lots of flavour and the food comes out quickly

Had a lovely meal at Urban Tandoor, which we had heard of through their amazing social media presence! The food was delicious, staff were attentive and the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. We will be back!

They moved my table back half an hour a couple of days before our reservation, try when we arrived it wasn't available and we had to wait in a cramped reception space. Staff didn't seem to know what was going on. They were friendly enough but on a number of occasions when they asked how we were, they had already started moving on before we had a chance to speak. Food was good if a little on the small side for portions. They were clearly rammed and trying to squeeze as many people in as possible which does not make for a good experience, which is a shame and we didn't hang around. Just had a mains and left, in and out in less than an hour. Felt like we were a hassle for the staff otherwise we would have happily had three courses. Also, full or not, they have squeezed in as many tables as possible in there. Go for the food but not the experience or ambience

There is no way they got 4.7. The staff service is bad. When we were assigned a table, the staff never said we had to finished at 19:30. He may talk to his colleague but not to us. When we were ready to go, the staff just pushed and scolded at us rudely. Repeatedly said they informed us the time to finish. When we ordering the food, never gave us time. Then when we asked for anything for non-spicy, never gave an answer or any proper suggestion. Never go to this horrible restaurant and dont think they welcome customers. Dont waste time.

Kept seeing this restaurant on titktok with their very attention grabbing marketing so I had to try it out. My daughter lives in Bristol so, when visiting yesterday, we booked a table at Urban Tandoor and we weren't disappointed. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has a lovely vibe and is very clean and well kept. The food! What can I say. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. Served hot and very quickly. Great selection of meals to choose from. Will definitely be returning

Booked a table for 2 at 7pm, but had to wait 15 minutes in the incredibly cramped waiting area. Got to the table, immediately asked what we wanted to eat before we'd had a chance to catch our breath. Food came within 5 minutes which was disconcerting. Can't be made to order. Far too spicy, likely to cover the lack of flavour and that it must be sat under heat lamps in giant dishes. Made us feel ill in the moment and even worse the next day. Even the pint of Kingfisher tasted watered-down and mildly of dish soap. If you're going to experience the Butlins-esque renditions of 'Sweet Caroline' and laugh at the silly dances the waiting staff do, you might enjoy it, but it is clearly all about turning over tables. We were pushed to leave after just 30 minutes. Do yourself and your stomach a favour and go elsewhere.

Below average food. Service was rushed. Atmosphere was not the best as you can’t see much - needs better lighting. The food was being turned around faster than I have seen ever. It was suspiciously fast. The coconut rice was meh. The peshwari naan was meh too. The salmon dish was alright. The chocolate tart was literally tasted like it was from the super market! I don’t see the hype.

Super fast service, could say too fast, felt really rushed to order and eat. Friendly attentive staff. Excellent delicious food. Ambience and decor, beautiful. Only marked atmosphere at four stars due to large groups of men being very loud, rowdy, and rude. I'm sure if I visited of a different night, it would be a five-star. There is no parking nearby and not accessible. Half a dozen steep steps to access the eating area.

Loved it! My friends and I were big fans of Urban Tandoor already from their social media and as we had made the five hour journey to the South West for a friend’s wedding, we decided we had to travel that little bit further to finally go to Urban Tandoor! The restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious with great veggie options - the chilli naan in particular was the best I’ve ever had. The interior is very pretty and the staff were wonderful. We were almost an hour late because of car troubles and they were so accommodating and understanding. Worth the hype, worth the journey! Would gladly return if we are ever in the area again.

Good tasty Indian food, 😋 well decorated interior and I like the vibes, the staff ate nice, they keep asking if you need more drinks 😅 quite nice, but quite unneeded if they did more than often, one thing I did not like about the place they Literally tried to get the table after 1.30 hrs we were a group of 7 people and Literally we were kicked out , I mean 1.30 hr is not enough for a table. However the food is tasty, and good portions, I will diffently try it again.

I came here for the second time with my Girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is LOVELY! The lighting is very soft and relaxing and welcoming, and the decor is lovely. Each table has a pleasant divider between the other tables - for privacy. The servers are all lovely, very polite and friendly. The food is ASTRONOMICAL. We ordered an assortment of chutneys, papadams and naan, pilau rice, tikka masala, and roghan josh. Everything was exceptional, very delicious and filling, with good portion sizes for good prices. The garlic naan was particularly stellar - truly the best we'd ever tasted!! The cherry on top of this fantastic and delightful dining experience was the staff's care and sense of humour; they gave us a free slice of cake to celebrate our special occasion, and played Congratulations (by the talented Cliff Richards) over the speakers. To cut a long story short - Urban Tandoor is the BEST RESTAURANT IN BRISTOL!! You should definitely go there, and tell all your friends - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!! 🔊‼️👍

3.5 stars in reality. There’s an air of image over content here and ambient noise of the place was quite loud. Curry dish was excellent but keema naan was flavourless and the pickle selection with the popadoms wasn’t great.

Arrived early and unlike other reviews there was no queue and indeed some free tables - it was early Sunday evening though to be fair. Staff were very attentive and did not feel rushed at all. Indeed having eaten here many times I’ve never ever felt rushed. Food was as always amazing. 10/10 and I’m very critical indeed. Hot, clearly fresh and not reheated and the tastes are stuning. Great atmosphere with ‘happy birthday’ played a few times - a candle in a desert arrived to the table and the whole restaurant applauds. ‘Congratulations’ also played but unsure who as no announcement which is the norm. I was delighted that the owner came and sat for a few minutes, having recognised me as repeat customer, and also that I always come in with someone else and never alone. I was able to tell him that she was on a vacation with family and so I came in as I knew I’d get a superb meal. That’s amazing service and just shows how they treat their customers - worried why I was alone and he wanted to touch base. I will return again and cannot recommend Urban highly enough. The socials, if you watch them, are top top drawer and yet the food and staff are better. If you want quality Indian cuisine with something different atmosphere wise (and see the social stars) then you must go in. The only surprise is that they don’t yet sell merchandise - I’d buy!!!!!

Some of the tastiest curries I've ever had!

Arrived to stressed out staff, placed on a table by some stairs, no atmosphere, although the decor inside was nice. Staff were so quick to get you in and get you out again. No different to any other Indian Restaurant in the UK. No wow factor. Maybe my expectations were different due to the instagram videos and social hype - maybe expected a party atmosphere or just something a little out of the ordinary. Was busy as a Friday evening, but not rammed. Was in and out in 35 minutes, food was rushed, staff miserable, food was a mixture. Starters was actually great, at least the paneer and achari lamb. Bhajis were that dry and bland we left them. Mains were average, summing up the whole evening. Was actually really disappointing having been privileged to eat in some quite cool places across the UK and world. Left saying to each other "oh, was that it!?". We offer an enjoyable, memorable dining experience. Visit our local curry houses for exciting interiors and stylish hospitality. Bit confused by the awards that are claimed, as we live in Cheltenham, where the British Curry Awards claim the Best Restaurant South West: Prithvi Restaurant, Cheltenham - where we have been and it is out of the world amazing. We have also visited: Best Restaurant West Midlands: Lasan, Birmingham. Both of these places are miles above here in terms of food, service and atmosphere. Didn't get a memorable dining experience or stylish hospitality, sorry Urban Tandoor - at least on this occassion.

Food was quite nice. Only the naans were lack of flavour. The atmosphere was a bit too dark. Service was moderate.

Came in for a quiet birthday meal, my pals informed the staff when I was at the loo. So embarrassed, however the staff brought out a lovely wee bit of cake at the end of the meal. Fantastic service, food is beautiful

Finally tried Urban Tandoor after many months of meaning to try it. The food was delicious, lovely creamy curries and a peswari naan to die for! Very attentive, friendly service. Reasonably priced, especially for such an enjoyable dining experience. I would also recommend the Palak Kofta for any vegetarians, huge portion and delicious flavour! Will definitely be back.

Dreadful all round. Can hardly hear yourself think let alone speak. Crammed in. Table area smelt of urine. Food unbelievably spicy (been to Sri Lanka so used to hot), this was another level. Had to leave over half the dish. In there 50 mins. Worst restaurant ever been in. Boiling hot. Noisy. Food not good at all. Would not recommend and none of the party will ever return. How it has won awards is totally and utterly baffling.

Amazing atmosphere, beautifully designed restaurant , very friendly and helpful service that goes above and beyond. Food was perfect and faultless and would highly recommend. Only fault was being kindly asked if we could finish up as they had another customer waiting for our table. It was my dad’s birthday and had arrived slightly early so was quite disappointed in having to leave as we could have easily stayed for longer talking over a drink. Would have been nice to be offered another table somewhere else in the restaurant but would still go back.

Exceptional food (the lamb shank is highly recommended) , efficient and friendly service and a lovely vibe (even on a Monday night). Will definitely be back!!!! Thanks so much

Had my 20th here, service was great and food was really good. Would 100% recommend

Food was OK however the service could be improved. We ordered snacks to start and food but they all arrived at the same time after 15 minutes. This was not a big issue. But after roughly 20 min into having dinner, two waiters came on several occasions to ask us if we were done when we were clearly still eating. One waiter came again to our table to say that they usually hold the table for 90 minutes. To which we replied that we had been there for 40 minutes and we're still eating. He dismissed our response and said he was just letting us know. Not professional or customer focused at all. We quickly ate and left. The place is loud and dark for a chilled evening and pleasant conversation.

Busy place so booking was necessary. Large place with a few group parties going on. It's a bit more upbeat than your regular couples setting we found but a very friendly service. I ordered the lamb shank which was very tasty. I also ordered garlic naan but when it arrived, it already had garlic naan as part of the dish. So now I had two portions. my wife ordered the mixed tandori but she wasn't that impressed with it. Bottle of wine and poppadoms and the bill was a very reasonable £88. It's a nice place but more suited to groups than couples imo.

I've been in Bristol for a few days on holiday, and this is the best food and service this city has to offer for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Thank you so much to the waiters and chefs in this restaurant. We will be back

Headed here on a whim as we were just getting into Bristol in the evening. Booked with them and wasn't disappointed! A warm welcome when we got in, and our Italian waiter was exceptional! A big thank you to him as he made us laugh and was always helpful. Our food was always piping hot, came in good time (it was a busy night) and delicious! It filled us up happily and of course we had dessert. All in all, definitely visit this restaurant as it serves top notch Indian food with lovely staff. 5/5 stars!
