Great service from Ismael and top quality food as usual! The best Indian food outside of India that I have ever had!

Great food !!!helpful staff slightly hurried with our meal we felt ( window frame was less than time stated) Wine priced at £40 pounds bit on high side to be honest but food made up for little negatives x

this is a tough one . . . meet and greet = pretty average - the atmosphere generally was good, table are quite close together, the music (dodgy 80's 90's pop) was a bit weird - the staff were generally nice and pleasant. However, the food was SUPERB - very tasty indeed.

Don't know what to say about the restaurant other than the food and staff were unbelievably good. The end .

Spontaneously went in when we visited Clifton. Very nice restaurant and the food was delicious. We had Lamb and Chicken biriyani also some naan and fish. Recommend to visit.

It can be hard finding a place that has great food and amazing service and nutmeg surpassed my expectations. From the moment we walked in the staff were so attentive and friendly, mix that with the flavours in the dishes and it’s a 10/10 restaurant

Love Nutmeg, we always go here when we have visitors. My go to is always Lamb Biryani. The cocktails are delicious. Price is reasonable!

Over priced and rip-off 18£ and one wing peice in this biryani

False advertising in Deliveroo with both of our Biryani dishes. The picture in the app implies it comes with bread so we didn’t order a naan. It didn’t. We were naanless on a Saturday night. Not happy. I give 2 stars as the food was actually nice. A take away nowadays is more expensive than going to a restaurant, I want to be served as well as in a restaurant, felt left apart. Edit: so my dish is cooked in a naan bread but then is not served with it ? What do you do with the bread? Food waste and fake advertising.

We were looking for a restaurant in Clifton and stumbled in out of the rain. Immediately it seemed different from your typical Indian restaurant and so it proved to be. A short, manageable menu with an array of dishes I was unfamiliar with. A choice of three BBF beers on draft added to my enthusiasm. The food proved to be excellent. My friend asked what dish I liked best and the honest answer was that I’d order all of them again. Worth noting that the pappadoms and naan bread were entirely grease free. Unusual but delicious. Nutmeg is definitely on my list of favourite restaurants in Bristol now.

We visited Nutmeg in Clifton, Bristol. The staff were super attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. We very much look forward to our next visit!!

Absolutely superb food, superb and friendly service. Highly recommended. I think it was the best Indian food I have had in a long while.

Visited Nutmeg to celebrate a family birthday. The experience all round was great. As soon as you walk through the door the smell of the food that greats you is fantastic. We were a mixed group in terms of preferences and heat tolerances and our excellent waiter from the outset checked who liked their food on the milder side and who was ok with a little heat. He then explained which dishes would be suitable for the heat avoiders. We shared Papadums and the excellent Chutneys which were bursting with flavour. I had Guinea Fowl to start which was moist and so tasty. Main was Chennai Beef which had layers of flavour and a nice spice kick. Others had Nalli Ghost, Chicken Lababdar & Lucknowi Biryani, all were enjoyed and recommended. Service was very good throughout. The food was great all round and am looking forward to another visit in few days.

Having been before, we knew it would be great place to celebrate our daughters engagement and we all loved it. I’d recommend the Guinea Fowl and the Pork Belly Vindaloo was fantastic

Visited their restaurant by the hippodrome. We didn’t book but were allowed to sit at the bar for food, which suited myself and a couple of friends. We shared some starts and main which was more than enough. Absolutely lovely food, great atmosphere and great staff. I don’t live in Bristol but if visiting would definitely look to come again.

Have eaten here a couple of times. Was impressed on my previous visits. Not so much on this one. starters came within 3 minutes of ordering. The mains quickly after. If they want everyone out at 11pm which they made very clear they should probably bring forward their last dining option. The main meals were very nice. I would go back but would book earlier in the evening.

We were a group of 6 who turned up quite late in the evening with no booking, the staff were great, made a table for us and helped us get you order in before the kitchen closed. The food and service was excellent. Thank you.

One of the best curries in Bristol without a doubt!

We’ve been wanting to try Nutmeg for some time so we’re chuffed our daughter bought us a voucher for Christmas. Nutmeg did not disappoint. The food was fantastic but what I would really add is the service was outstanding. Our server was fantastic and gave advice on different dishes. Thank you Nutmeg for a lovely evening.

The moment you enter the place, you are greeted well, complete attention to your order with dietary requirements and also checking your order intake. Above all this good things food didn’t disappoint, various options , good portion size, tasty and very well presented. If I was local would visit regularly. Left the place with happy satisfied stomach 😝 Would recommend everyone to visit the place once for sure. The Tuiles on the Raj Kachori was so impressive and tasted yummy pomegranate

Pros: Good central location Clean bright dining space Good quality food overall Nicely presented tasty food Cons: Pushy staff who started trying to upsell wine as soon as we were seated. Regular ‘reminders’ about the time they wanted our table back creating a bad atmosphere. We were unable to relax and enjoy our meal. Focus is on fast turnover and profit. Not customer satisfaction. Poppadoms were like Pringles. We cancelled a future booking after a very disappointing experience last week. One piece of my monkfish was almost raw. Waiter said you should have said something, which I just had. No offer to replace or of a complimentary sweet/discount. Still added service charge to our bill. This Nutmeg restaurant doesn’t compare to its sister restaurant in Clifton Village where we have enjoyed great food and faultless service for many years. We won’t return to their new offering and cannot recommend.

I am surprised at all the high reviews. The food wasn't too bad, but considering the premium price, I expected much more. The paneer starter was lovely, but the chicken curry we shared as a main was quite poor - all you could taste was cardamom and the meat was dry. When you're paying £15+ for a dish, it should be better. We ordered a biryani which had nice flavours, but was a bit stingy on the lamb. I like what Nutmeg are doing with the menu - offering an alternative to the traditional curry-house, but unfortunately the food does not match the price tag. There are much better options in Bristol for half the money.

Food was exceptional, service was great - will be back!!

We had the taster menu which was the veganuary menu. It was excellent, but we were a little disappointed that the rice pudding for dessert was not as creamy as it could have been. But would definitely recommend the taster menu to others. Always friendly, attentive staff, we will be back.

My best friends and I were together for a special weekend and ate at Nutmeg, Clifton. The food was absolutely incredible, the cocktails, wine and beer were great and the service was absolutely lovely.

It's decorated beautifully, in a very nice area and the service was swift, pleasant and attentive. I loved my prawn dish, which came with a very tasty gravy. The wife, however, had beef Chennai, which was so hot she found it ultimately inedible. I love spicy food but had a go at the gravy and swiftly turned red! Now Chennai is the name of the town we used to call Madras, and we know how spicy Madras curry is, so maybe we should have known? Seriously, though? Should forewarn customers better.

Amazing Indian food. Was a bit sceptical looking at the menu with primarily Non vegetarian dishes. The vegetarian dishes though limited are awesome. Best Indian food we have had so far in the whole of UK

Have eaten in the restaurant before, it's lush. Had a takeaway today, bloody fantastic, fresh, tasty, not like other Indian takeaways. I can eat any curry but this is the tops. Fish curry, yum, tender chicken something or other, spicy chickpeas, lovely dhal. The packaging is environmentally friendly too.

Wow ! Celebrated a big birthday here and wanted something a little different. The entire experience was brilliant. The service was spot on and we loved the chill out music ! But the food was the shining star - exquisite. I often travel India and normally underwhelmed by uk restaurants, this is one of the best Ive been to - wish we were local. The food here is phenomenal. I have no idea how they make it so tasty. It isn't cheap, but it is definitely worth it. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. It's our favourite place for a special family treat.

Went here back in October 23, was amazing, so booked again for dinner before the ballet. Arrived at 5.30, as per our booking was immediately told ‘you can have your table but you have to be out by 7.15’. We said of course as we have the ballet anyway at 7.15. Just put us on edge, surely it would of been better to wait until 6.45 and then say ‘just to let you know we have another booking at 7.15, but you are welcome to move to the bar’ !?! We were finished and left anyway by 6.30 as we felt rushed. Food was fantastic. Put off going again though as it felt pressured.

Had a main course each and shared a side and dessert. Lovely food served promptly which was ideal as attending show at the Hippodrome. Toilet scrupulously clean.

Although the food came out very well presented unfortunately it was so salty it tasted like sea water. Either it was too salty to tell, or there just wasn't enough authentic Indian flavours coming through at all. Very overpriced considering how much salt to put in food is a basic skill for a chef working somewhere like that

We dined mid afternoon on 23rd Dec and assumed it would be busy but we were the only people there! Service was great and the food was nice but after a lot of hype I expected to be blown away and I wasn't really. The biryani however was delicious but the prawns were quite overcooked.

This is more than your average curry! A really lovely meal. Excellent food, really flavoursome and excellent, attentive service. A lovely way to spend New Year with the family.

The food is good, but we live in Bristol so that's not enough. The portion sizes are too small. £50 for three curries which contained four pieces of chicken, three pieces of lamb, one roasted aubergine + one rice and one naan bread. Hardly value for money! There are other restaurants that are just as good and less stingy.

More of a "fine dining" restaurant than the typical Indian restaurant you might find in many cities but none the worse for that. Interesting menu, not cheap but good food.

Great meal in central Clifton location. We chose off the standard menu and were not disappointed. The food a step away from your standard selection, and all the more enjoyable for it. Fully recommend.

Food and service was really nice. What wasn’t quite so nice was being asked to wait outside on the coldest night of year while the table was prepared. It wasn’t like the restaurant was full! Think that was poor and never experienced it before Limited menu but I liked that as the dishes were a bit different

Nice venue with very good service. It was so noisy from other guests that we couldn't enjoy our own chat and for my taste the food wasn't great either.

The atmosphere was nice and the music was not too intense. However, there were a few issues: we did not realise the poppadoms were not complimentary and had been forced into having them by the waiter which meant that we paid £15 for three dishes of poppadoms. The waiter was attentive but perhaps too attentive. He explained the menu in detail, but continued for a while, and also focused on all of the meat dishes, whilst two of our party are vegetarian. He also wiped the table whilst we were still sat down, which we found to be very strange. He checked in frequently which was good, but was keen to upsell us more items, and asked about more drinks, dessert, etc. The food was generally OK but quite expensive.

Amazing food! Amazing service! My friend and I are vegetarian and wanted to do the tasting menu and they accommodated and we had the most delicious meal. Would highly recommend and we would definitely come again.

The food was absolutely amazing! It was our first time at the restaurant and everything, including the interior, service and the atmosphere was excellent. There was 5 of us, all vegan or gluten free and we didn't struggle to find food on the menu, some items were adjusted to suit our needs. The flavours were just incredible. Unwelcoming staff, passively rude when we gave them criticism on their small portions of main dishes. We went hungry and left hungry but with lighter pockets as their main dishes come in tapas size but are priced and named as "main dishes". Won't be coming back for sure.

Top notch Indian cuisine, served by charming waiters in this pleasant Cifton restaurant. The ambience is very much Clfton Bristol, so don't expect to hear a sitar in the background and there isn't a tandoori or a balti dish in site. Big flavours abound. Booking is essential. Beef Madras is such a breathtaking change - sensational! Take away/deliveroo too.

This is a lovely, and proper Indian restaurant nestled in the beautiful area of Clifton in Bristol. The food choice is limited compared to the usual Indian offerings, which made it so much better, as what was on offer was delicious and catered for all dietary requirements, including Gluten free. It's not the cheapest, but the quality of the food is high, and it is in Clifton. I'd very much recommend a visit.

I had heard good things about this place, so decided to visit with a group of friends. The waiter we had couldn’t do enough for us, spending quite some time explaining dishes and offering suggestions to us. When the food arrived we weren’t disappointed, it was delicious. If you are a fan of Indian food this place is a must.

French and passing through Bristol for a few days, we really enjoyed this restaurant. Not knowing what to eat, we received excellent advice and were able to discover a variety of dishes, each as good as the next. Perfect service with lots of smiles and kindness, excellent cuisine and lovely decor. I recommend you.

Great food, lovely staff our go to place on weekly bases

Disappointed as portions were evidently smaller from previous times that we ordered the exact same dishes. We gave our feedback about being dissatisfied. To our surprise the staff not only didn't appreciate the constructive feedback and take it on board to improve, they became defensive and patronising and appeared disingenuous with the excuses to defend the restaurant.

First time trying Nutmeg we really enjoyed our experience. Atmosphere was relaxed going for early tea. The 1.5 hour restriction on the table was fine for the two of us, may feel rushed if we were there as a large party for an event. The onion bhajis were the tastiest I've had very fresh spices, the sauce was a little on the sweet side for us but still very enjoyable. The dips for the poppadums seemed freshly made and tasty also. My first time having a slow baked lamb biryani and was not disappointed, tender meat and nicely spiced again, portion size was plenty with the rice and baked under a nan bread lid. My partner enjoyed his chicken labadar which is a mild curry. The cost of the meal was on par with most other places we've eaten in Bristol not expensive. I would go again and try out different meals.

Food wasn’t up to standard as the prawns were soft and mushy, meaning they weren’t fresh. The flavours were good— but not mind blowing. The quality of food is just slightly above average, nothing to shout about. However it was a little on the pricier end.

Excellent food, and excellent service. Had the lamb and creamy chicken for dinner. Absolutely delightful. Waiter recommended everything, and it was all excellent. Not super spicy either, but the right amount. The restaurant is well decorated, and the service was excellent.

The Naga's Nectar cocktail is a most inventive twist on the Old Fashioned- this take, with chai, is so memorable and delicious! Food is also great, but that cocktail...! Thanks, John, will be back.
