We had a great lunch here. Our group of six had a wide range of dishes from Idli Chat and Agni Wings to prawn Kura, chicken Thali, lamb Thali to Mysore Masala Disa (and much more). With glasses of wine, beer, sparkling water and coffee, the bill came to £146. Staff get an extra gold star for agreeably turning down the music when we asked them to.

Amazing place. Wonderful spices make their dishes a delight. I've tried two on their curries so far, both were a hit. The prices are more than reasonable. The atmosphere is great, the music is clear, gentle and unobtrusive. The staff are attentive and super friendly. And did you know they are pet friendly? Me and my dog had a ball and felt most welcome. Will definitely be back

The curry was fine. Portion sizes and quantity of meat / fish were disappointing. We had a big order (trying most street food curries on the menu) and they came with 3/4 small bits of chicken or beef / 3/4 prawns. I would not go back based on this.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and hospitality that made us feel like part of the family. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of exceptional, treating us with genuine care and attentiveness throughout the entire meal. As for the food—it was a true culinary delight. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly cooked to perfection. The Idli Chaat was a refreshing and flavorful twist, a perfect blend of textures and spices. The Chicken 65 was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with just the right amount of spice to make each bite irresistible. But the real standout for me was the Chicken Street Curry paired with the Malabar Parota—it was a true festival of flavors in my mouth. The curry was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying, while the Parota was soft, flaky, and perfect for soaking up all that goodness.

Get the vada pav👌🏻 bit of a wait but was worth it

Jijitha & Bipin were very welcoming. Service was excellent. When I mentioned garlic naan was not fully cooked, they immediately replaced it with naan to my satisfaction.

Amazing food, above expectations. I really enjoyed it. My friends also enjoyed their curries. Lots of variety, something for everyone. The prices are fair. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the area. Wide variety of drinks too. Definitely recommended. Edit: came back and tried the rose lassi. Very nice. The staff are all very friendly and kind.

We tried Salkaara street food as this was the few places we could find some good porotta and beef. The place did not disappoint. We were welcomed by the smiling and pleasant lady. Our experience was enriched by the friendly manager Nitheesh who took our order and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was great. Specially recommend the chicken dum biriani, porotta and beef.

A Kerala cuisine which is not recommended for people from Kerala. Quantity is very poor. Paratta is good. But the mains and starters felt reheated frozen. Ambience and service is good.

Delicious - the fried lamb starter was awesome, the samosa chat was great value. We didn’t see any of the reviews before stumbling across it but having been inside I can see why it got such good responses.

My wife and I made a 26 mile round trip today to enjoy the best Indian food we've ever had in the UK. The dosa was delicious, the thali was absolutely superb, and the lamb street curry was yummie. Polite and attentive staff, who really care. Everything is fairly priced including the drinks. We'll be back (soon). The atmosphere certainly took me back to Kerela (which was the last time I tasted food as good as today's) . Highly recommended, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful food and service. Very busy when we arrived without a booking and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. It wasn't anything like that. The fish curry I had was delicious, the portions were perfect. We were full with no waste. The staff were fabulous. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend this place. We Had biryani. Really good portion and high in taste . Served with pickle and papadam as well. Customer service was best. Very friendly . 50% off and 30% off on weekdays and week ends for all food for their Anniversary .

We are so grateful to the whole team of Salkara street for allowing us to host the baby shower of our friend at the restaurant. They were so patient the service was impeccable, the atmosphere was amazing. They truly went above and beyond to make it all happen. Their customer service was excellent. Vipin the Host was really too kind and patient, he has great customer skills, and is so welcoming. Overall we had a wonderful evening, a great thank you to them for making it the best evening. The food was just superb. We will truly Be visiting again very soon, this restaurant has vecome one of our favourites. We will deffinatly be hosting more events here. They truly went above and beyond!!❤️❤️

Amazing food, what can I say?! For someone who has been to India and to compare it to this restaurant is fantastic to say the least! Very authentic South Indian cuisine and very attentive staff with a smile and went to great lengths to ensure we had a nice evening. The Chilli Gobi is incredible! I only had a drink and one small plate as I wasn't hungry, but I will certainly be back.

Came for lunch as it was somewhere my partner had seen and I was really glad he had as it was fabulous. Service was fantastic and food delicious. Had the lamb nan which was the best I’ve had, bread was so light. I had a chicken street curry which was really tasty and well spiced. Will definitely come back, a real treat

Some may argue that food is the most basic level of survival. But to to turn that into an art form is a skill of the highest proportion. I did not just eat a curry this evening; I ate food passed down the generations that was of the highest standard of authenticity. I do not say this lightly when I pronounce this the best curry in Bristol. My highest regards go to the chefs and the service staff who do there most to uphold this esteemed establishment. Five stars.

Brilliant southern Indian food outlet. Easily one of the best in Bristol. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and tasty. It was not greasy. All freshly made to order. They don't use readymade sauces to prepare the dishes. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Mr. Vipin's suggestions were spot on especially the fish (tawa) and lamb dishes. The cook caters to your palate, so do make your choices especially with spicy / chilli heat (mild, moderate etc.)

First visit here, bit concerned as it was empty when we arrived, but it was early. And it did fill up. Food was superb, service lovely and friendly. All in all, delicious. Would certainly recommend and I hope it's still here next time I visit my friends in Bishopston. Not the best picture but it was all very tasty, and the flavours subtle

We had the Samosa, samosa chaat, chilli gobi, mango lassi, Hyderabadi Baingan and garlic naan and I have glowing reviews to give about all of these dishes. All the dishes had a well-balanced and authentic taste, really well prepared and of excellent quality! The staff was extremely friendly and the service was super quick. I usually never leave reviews, but I’ve been to so many Indian restaurants in Bristol and London and I must say that this is the best Indian restaurant I’ve come across in England so far (as a vegetarian). It was such a warm and comforting experience to have a meal here. Will definitely be coming again and be trying their dessert because that has great reviews as well!

Good food, had a wide selection between the 3 of us, idli, masala dosa, chicken masala, vadai, chicken thali and poppadoms. All was good, with a drink we paid about £25 each.

Food was really good !! Being a South Indian I’d agree the flavours are very authentic and delicious!! Ordered the tawa fish which was rich in flavour (similar to Ghee roast chicken) and the beef parotha combo- beef was well cooked ! Loved it.. also heard it’s one of the nicest Indian restaurants in Bristol !

Went in on a quiet Sunday night with my husband. Lovely staff, well-priced menu and delicious meal. What more can you ask for? We will be back.

Ate here recently with some friends. I had the thali which is all chosen out for you before, was very nice. Food was tasty and it was nice to try new things. Wish you had more of a choice on what you got with this though or at least told what you would get before it comes out :)

This is one restaurant we’ve frequented twice within the past 2 weeks. Basically walked in once and were spellbound by the delicious food that was served. Would definitely recommend the Kerala beef curry with porontha. The food was served quickly and nice and fresh. Suitable portions too. The ambience is great if one has a liking for Indian music. Nice place to dine out, be it by yourself or with family or friends. The staff is very friendly and cheerful and attentive to your needs. The food too is tasty and satisfying. The overall atmosphere is very good.

Went for brunch at Salkaraa. There was no one in the restaurant except us. Ordered masala dosa; it was below average. The coconut chutney did not taste fresh, and the sambar needs improvement. The porotta beef combo was okay but was overpriced for just 2 porottas. The non-veg thali was also below average; the portion is very small for the price. Charging extra for rice was not expected.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service was good. The starters were good: tawa fish (bit spicy), samosa chat (very big so worth the money) and chicken 65. My partner had the lamb curry and pilau rice, and his friend had the fish. They both enjoyed it. I had the chicken thali. I liked the variety of being able to try the different dishes. HOWEVER, the portion for me was on the smaller side. There were only 4 pieces of chicken in the MAIN dish. Was disappointed with that. For £15 not worth it. Otherwise, enjoyed.

A fantastic place gave us indian vibe. After the first visit you will go back again for sure. Definitely try malabar biryani, South Indian Talli and end with gajar halwa….😍😍😍.

Second time eating at Salkaara Street and the food was just as excellent as the first time. Portion sizes are perfect, not too much, like you get in some Indian restaurants and the flavours are brilliant. Service was also wonderful and the waiters/waitresses are very friendly and polite. Will definitely be going back again!

If you, like me, ever wondered or wanted to discover Indian Street Food-this is the place. Gorgeous interior, quick service and .. gorgeous food! Highly recommend this place for brunch, but be aware coffee is not an option here, but lovely masala chai. So, grab coffee someone else while you are on the way here and enjoy your brunch with a lovely cup of chai. Dosa has different options, but we followed staf recommendation - Masala Dosa (it has mash potato like filling) and you get 3 sides: 2 cold, 1 hot. It is massive! I was too hungry to share, but .. maybe it is an option if you are just pekish. Enjoy!

One of the best Indian cuisine in Bristol. I have enjoyed every bit of it. We have ordered Thali, it was yummy😋 such a friendly staff and very good environment. I highly recommend for every Indian and other nationalities who crave for traditional Indian meals.

My favourite restaurant in Bristol. I literally go here to eat alone on ordinary days just to have the food, it's so affordable that it works out cheaper than buying all the ingredients to make a balanced meal from co-op nearby. But we also go here for birthdays and special occasions. They have the best Masala Dosa, it's less than £8 and fills you up all day. Also the staff are treating you like family and that they are happy to see you, in this way, it is like being in India. More people should eat lunch here because then you would only need a light dinner and it only works out a few pounds more than a meal deal from a supermarket which has way less nutritional value.

Excellent delicious foods. Special mention for ‘non veg Thali and meen pollichath’. Will surely visit again.

Good food. I liked the prawn curry ( I don't remember the exact name of the dish), it was really good. And so was the Kerela parota. I would suggest do not opt for north Indian dishes, it's not their speciality anyways. Staff was really good and well behaved. Price was reasonable. The ambience is very nice. Bollywood numbers playing and good lighting. It feels like a nice place to be in. Location is good, street parking may be a little difficult to find as it is a busy street.
