Delicious, very reasonably priced food in a fun, inviting atmosphere. Not only that but a good vegan and gluten free range that's clearly marked and some pretty dramatic cocktails. We were there as a mildly chaotic last minute 19 person reservation which they accommodated with truly excellent service. Highly recommended.

You won't believe the fantastic time we had at The Coconut Tree in Cheltenham during our trip to the Cotswolds! We were so blown away by the food and atmosphere that we ended up dining there two nights in a row. The flavours were just out of this world – a delightful mix of authentic Sri Lankan tastes with a creative twist. We savoured the Kotthu, Hopper, and devilled chicken, and each dish was bursting with mouth-watering flavours. Even my 10-year-old daughter couldn't stop grinning as she enjoyed the delicious food and the lively, vibrant setting. The vibe at this place is absolutely electric—it's like a party that you definitely want to be a part of. The staff was brimming with energy and made us feel like part of their family. A special shoutout to Rotny, the restaurant manager—he was an absolute star! He ensured everyone was having a blast, chatted with guests, and ensured everything was perfect. You rarely find such a warm and attentive team these days. And don't even get me started on the drinks – those coconut-based cocktails were to die for! They were the perfect complement to the spicy food, and we couldn't have enough. The whole experience completely blew us away, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the generous portions. If you ever find yourself in Cheltenham and want to spice things up, you've got to check out The Coconut Tree. It's a haven for all the flavour enthusiasts, and the atmosphere is just a blast. We're marking our calendars to visit again the next time we're in town!

OMG Amazing food! Best vegan meal out 've had in UK since Cranks in Covent Garden closed. Really friendly, genuinely nice staff. Love the vibe and we are late 50s so not just for the young crowd. We will he back.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Food was mouthwatering and the staff are just super cool and friendly. Recommended us the best options and even gave us some extras on the house. We usually never do the same restaurant twice when we are on holiday, but we just couldn't help coming back here again on day 2 of our stay as well. Ended up trying almost all of the menu and every item had a different, distinct taste and flavour. This restaurant is an experience more than just a food place. Huge shoutout to Rodney, Naveen, Shamil, Ed, Tegan, Kavi and the guy at the bar who made us some killer cocktails for making our visits extra special. Keep up the good work guys, can't wait to be back.

Went as a family with kids. Had a great time, all the staff were amazing. The portion sizes are quite small, which is good as you can try lots of dishes without feeling full.

We had two hoppers, which were amazing but the best was chicken on bone. The flavor it had was unmatched to any other chicken curry I had before. Highly recommend place. Rodney's hospitality is a great add on.

Really sorry to say that we had the worst experience ever.reserved a table there for our dinner on the way home from Cornwall.We even recommended this to another family and they only visited this place as they relied on our word. It was their first time here and ended up having diarrhoea. All we were served was tasteless, stale food which was £125+ worth( worthless honestly) we were families with kids and not recommending this at all for families with kids. This was not our first visit but will definitely be the last. The unpleasant,stale food MUST not be served for families and must definitely be looked at thoroughly. Food safety and hygiene are NO JOKES at all guys 👎🏻

Craving the bold flavors of Sri Lankan spices, we tried several dishes including Kottu, Hoppers, Prawn Fried Rice, Parata, Pork Curry, Mutton Curry, and their signature Chicken Curry. Each dish was a true delight, hitting our taste buds with the perfect blend of spices. Their range of cocktails, infused with Sri Lankan spices and Arrack, is a must-try. The drinks perfectly complement the vibrant, tapas-style dishes and enhance the overall experience. The atmosphere at The Coconut Tree is warm and inviting, with a lively vibe that matches the energy of the food. The team here is incredible—friendly, welcoming, and they really make you feel like part of the family. Special shoutout to Rodney, Shamal, Naveen, Kavi, Isuru, Ed, Tegan, and the guy at the bar from පිළියන්දල Road (sorry, didn’t catch your name!). Their hospitality was a big part of why we ended up coming back two days in a row. This is definitely a 5-star place, and I highly recommend everyone to experience the unique and flavorful dishes at The Coconut Tree.

Had a lovely meal sharing lots of little bits - all dishes were nice and interesting flavours - had about 7-8 small plates between two and it was plenty, and reasonable price too. Lots of gluten free and veggie options. Friendly and helpful staff. They has a summer offer too so the kids meal for our toddler was free, which was great.

Absolutely fantastic time for my best friends hen do yesterday, we were so well looked after from start to finish, food was so fast, tasty and fresh. They cater so well for allergens, our bride is gluten free and they took so much care to explain which dishes she could have and even had the non GF dishes in different coloured bowls. Thanks!

Delicious authentic food with honest decor and provision of recycled glass water bottles, love the no messing kitchen roll! As it was hot we felt transported to actual Sri Lanka, with a lovely breeze coming in the large open window. Service impeccable, lovely welcoming staff, lots of sharing fantastic little dishes, we were all full with room for ice cream! Sorry no photos, too busy marvelling 😋

Avoid the meat dishes and the tall chairs (very wonky). Although some of our dishes were missed off the order the waiter was really helpful with resolving this.

The food is just okay, I don’t like the atmosphere tho personally. My friend is halal she asked the waiter if it is halal or not which they said they cooked separately. Later I found out from someone that they don’t offer halal. Don’t know exactly what is right or wrong. The food is really small-sized portion and didn’t feel full. I don’t think I will visit again in future.

Amazing food, plenty of options, if struggling to pick, they surprise you with their own selection for you, we were in a literal food heaven full of taste and ambience! The music, the vibe, the staff, and the drinks ofc! We’ve struggled to find places with good food in the UK, you cannot go wrong with The Coconut Tree, do yourself a favor and indulge yourself and your loved ones with some unique flavours from Sri Lanka. I didn’t manage to take photos of the food, we were too concentrated in this other world lol.

Sri Lankan cuisine meets tapas! Nice flavours and prices are not that bad though some dishes are not that authentic. Overall, a definite for a second visit.

This is a great place with and excellent atmosphere and vibe. Can feel a little squashed when first arrive and seated as the tables are quite close together but it just works. Can be loud so expect to have to shout. The music is great. Customer service is excellent and very attentive to your needs and helping with food orders. I had never eaten Sri Lankan food before. I recommend a tapas style: Prawn curry Chickpeas Calamari Paneer Bread Rice to name a few dishes we ordered between 4 of us. I was driving so I did not drink (honestly) So I had two Pina Colada cocktails- excellent and very refreshing with the food. Two of the party had wine and my other friend had cocktails. Try the 'show stopping' flame drink...ask thr staff for it. It great and a nice way to end the evening. All in all a great night out with great food and we will definitely go again.

Found myself here after being turned away from an empty Mowgi restaurant. I'm so glad about that now! Best food I've had this year. Loved the informal setting- a once loved pub repurposed for an informal eating experience with friendly and helpful staff, in particular Rodney who gave some fab advice with menu choices. We did the bottomless brunch. You get bottomless cocktails (choice of 6) and unlimited food ( 2 dishes at a time) it was so tastey, well timed and spiced to perfection . The staff were incredible! They come to you and ask if u want anything else before you've finished your previous servings! I highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant place to eat and drink. Can’t speak highly enough of the food quality, temperature and taste. I was gobsmacked at the value too! £25 each for a random selection of the best street food Cheltenham has to offer. Will definitely be returning. Big shout out to Rodney who served us. He was friendly, efficient, and a good laugh. My ONE criticism was that it was very warm inside, and no air con appeared to be circulating. As a result we left earlier than had intended because we were so warm. Didn’t dampen the experience too much though - just something to be mindful of

10/10 Restaurant tucked away in St. Pauls Cheltenham. 5 of us ate at £25 per person, and we were all full. £5 a pint too cant beat it. Highly recommend and will be back for more

One of my absolute favourite places to eat. The food is always delicious and the staff are fab too. We were served by Navu this time and he recommended some delicious dishes that we hadn't tried before. Highly recommend :-)

What a brilliant place to enjoy incredible Sri Lankan food that is delish. The spicy notes make your lips tingle in the best way possible. The calamari is amazing and the chicken on the bone curry my fav. Even the rotis are so good. Service is effortless, charming and spot-on. And to top it off they have amazing cocktails and brilliant music. Just don't go there when I want to.

There was a lively, bustling atmosphere with fast service and loud, upbeat music - the bar was busy and the food was a standout. The dishes served up authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, offering blends of flavors that work well in each dish and as shared dining experience. The menu has depth and variety that feels adventurous and exciting when trying to decide what to order. The staff were friendly and attentive, offering helpful suggestions and adding to the overall positive vibe of the evening. It was relaxing and enjoyable. I felt equally like I belonged and like I wasn’t cool enough to be there. I am glad I went and got to explore the yummy Sri Lankan dishes in a vibrant setting. Highly recommend for flavorful dishes, a few drinks and spending time sharing food with people you care about.

The whole experience was amazing. Lovely atmosphere- decor & music; helpful and friendly staff & amazing food, great for meat eaters & vegetarians!! Reasonably priced and super tasty. We were even given some desserts on the house. We’d go back again & again but we were only down for a few days.

It was our first time trying Srilankan cuisine and it was so delicious and the service was lovely too -hats off to our waitress Tilly- We went to the restaurant in Cheltenham and the restaurant inside was so warming,welcoming and cozy(unlike the weather!).

Don't go here if you have kids! I came here with my family and my 1 year old boy. The service was struggling because they were busy but there was no room for us where we'd been sat. Our table was blocking the access for the kitchen so servers were having to shimmy past us with hot plates. The part that really got to me was there was no baby changing in the men's toilet meaning I had to change my boy in the ladies. Seriously!! I shot them an email because as a dad, that stuff is important and I want other dads to be able to take their kids out. I had no response. So if you're a dad, lone wolfing it, don't go here.

Called in on a weekend away in Cheltenham with my daughter for mothers Day. We hadn't booked, and most of the tables were reserved. We were offered a table for 2 next to the door, which we accepted. The place filled up pretty quickly, and there was a buzzing atmosphere with large tables full of people. Although there were people coming in and out, it didn't impact us, and the servers were just as attentive to us as to the large tables. The food was really good and the drinks, especially the turmeric latte, were delicious. Although it was just my daughter and I, we felt completely immersed in the atmosphere of people of the place. It's rustic and cosy, kitchen roll for napkins and great staff.

I was dining in, lovely atmosphere, great music and friendly staff. Only thing I found a slight issue was I'm not a spicy food kinda person and we were out for my dads birthday. I couldn't find something that wasn't spicy. However the goat curry was my favourite of everything as the burn wasn't too strong.

This eatery was a really live event from the second we walked in. Friendly reception and despite being packed managed a change to our booked table in order to dodge some of the background revelry. After helpful guidance to the platters available we were served very quickly. A couple of dishes were not to our taste but the range of vegetable dishes was excellent. As we only drank ginger beers, we cannot comment on the drinks but the choice here was wide and interesting. Worth trying another time. A welcome change to formulaic plastic soulless restaurants. Quite dynamic

This is a Srilankan street food, so don't expect much. Even their famous poratas r served like small pizza slices. Very small quantity. Keep this place as a starter n hop else where into the town for the mains. Limited menu, taste average, drinks available n most importantly no parking. Pls book before u go as this place has limited space. My verdict, u can try once if ur too tempted.

We had the most fantastic meal here last nights, unfortunately we were sat out of the main restaurant so didn't really experience vibrant atmosphere. Nevertheless the service was good, the drinks were beautiful and the food was sensational. We will be visiting our local restaurant in Birmingham. Try this place you won't be disappointed. Thank you. Totally delicious, richly spicy food but not too pallette scorching - superb. Tapas like dishes. Wonderful, will be back.

Portion sizes were small and therefore expensive, so you need to spend £35-40/pp for a decent meal (with one drink). The food was tasty though and we got a free cake which was apricated. Some items were not available because of a supposed electrical issue with microwave and fryer, eg roti, which I can't understand. I suspect the fryer is not turned on on a quiet night to save money.
