We've stopped here for a drink before but came back yesterday (26/04) for lunch with some friends. Parking is not easy but I guess that's because it's so popular. We had a lovely seat in the garden with great views, but the absolute joy was the waiter who served us in the garden, there wasn't anything that was to much of a problem for him and his attention to detail was excellent, friendly, cheerful and very knowledgable about any questions we asked about the food. He's a real asset to the pub and I hope they ahold onto him.
Everything about our visit today was superb! Stunning view of Sandown Bay helped by glorious weather. Both of my friends had accessibility needs and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, nothing was too much trouble and genuinely friendly. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Am already planning my next visit. Go there, you won't be disappointed!
Los 4 disfrutamos del menú del curso, la comida encantadora y la buena relación calidad-precio. El servicio es puntual y nos gustó el ambiente. Prueba el bar la próxima vez
We came for the Winnie the Pooh afternoon tea. Great theming. Service was really slow and no one explained what the issue was or offer drinks until I chased up why we still had not been given our afternoon tea 50 minutes after our booking started! It spoilt the experience for us and why we wouldn’t go back. Food was ok but had better.
Encantador pequeño desayuno encontrar! Las tortitas eran perfectas y el café con leche era exuberante! Will deffo volver - el personal era tan acogedor ❤️
I arranged to meet family & friends here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I'd checked out several places that would offer easy access from the motorway for people coming from both north & south, had great reviews for food and service, and an overall attractive appearance.
The Fox & Hounds ticked every box and more. Without realising at the time of booking, we arrived for 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Our food orders had been requested a week before at the latest, which saved time when we were seated, especially as a couple of people were late. I'd also had a late addition to our party just as I'd sent over our orders via email and although they were fully booked, the staff were good enough to add a place to the end of the table. The communication and accommodation of the staff was excellent. Upon arrival, we were made to feel very welcome with smiles and friendly chat.
Despite the place being completely packed, none of our party of 11 could fault the food or service. The ambience was just right; no having to shout at each other to be heard. Everyone commented on how delicious their food was, from the kids fish & chips to pork loin, burgers, lamb and more. A variety of desserts were also enjoyed by all. The level of service was top notch, which was impressive considering how busy they were.
As some of us were smokers, we spent time outside, which was beautifully presented with lots of tables and seating. The Fox & Hounds is a dog friendly pub, it's worth noting.
I always rate pubs and restaurants by their toilets! In this case, they were nicely decorated and well kept, with hand wash and lotion, and good mirrors.
There was a good selection of lagers and ales available at the bar, as well as wine by the glass or bottle and plenty of none alcoholic drinks. We also had jugs of water with our meals.
We would all highly recommend a visit here.
Last night we had one of our most idyllic meals which was perfect for our needs. A combination of “smaller plates” made the meal so memorable with superb flavours. Oysters, tempura prawns, mussels and dressed crab salad. Without doubt our favourite restaurant.
I had a wonderful lunch with my 2 sons at the Cwm Talwg today. I hadn’t booked a table but staff thankfully found a table for us. Lots of choice on the menu so was hard to decide !! From entering to leaving the staff were attentive and super friendly. Our orders taken promptly and food served after a short wait, staff checked twice that our meals were ok. We had no complaints !! They were delicious. I don’t think the Cwm Talwg gets the recognition it deserves which is a shame as the food was lovely. We will definitely be back. I’d recommend trying this place
