Overall 5 out of 5 however some issues. Arrived at about 12.30 the service was terribly slow and when our main course arrived it was cold. The manager did an excellent job at putting the situation right. Our main courses were re cooked and once they arrived they were lovely. The manager offered us desert on the house and when our bill came she confirmed that the whole meal would be on the house also. Whilst the experience started off bad the manager did an amazing job at putting it right. We will return!

Absolutely awful service, there were times when we had to repeat ourselves because the staff didn't even bother to acknowledge what we said. We arrived and someone had an allergy, I mistakenly said no to the allergy question and within moments corrected myself only to be told in a curt tone...I just asked you that. Then there was no explanation to say that they would need to go through some question before we could order, instead Sally just said, I know you are waiting il be back. A little while later she again mumbled "i know you are waiting. A bit of context would have been super helpful. Finally when she came she showed us two tablets where we had to sign to state we understood the terms and conditions of dining there with an allergy. Never in my life have I been made to feel as though I'm a wrongun for dining with a child with allergy. Now they were busy but there is no excuse for the Absolutely disgraceful experience we received, my nephew asked where the straws were and recieved an abrupt "just go around there". He came back to the table mortified and asked his grandmother to come with him. It was like this throughout, as though they couldn't be bothered to talk to us. Waited ages to order the desert, then again when we asked for the bill half way through he conversation she walked to an empty table to pick up rubbish before coming back to us to settle up. By this point the lunch time rush had completely died down. Absolutely disgusted and please don't bother responding with the standard reply of we will feed this back to the team, or this isn't our standard, because when it mattered, it was your standard and clearly your team did not care.

Never have spare pillows. Asked 3 times including the manager and still no spare pillows. Also we were mislead as the E-mail said check in from 12 and we couldn't which was annoying. Still miffed about the pillows. I refuse to believe they had run out. I just wanted one more pillow so I could actually rest easy- there motto which they did not live up to. Dissapointed.

Experienced most of Marlow’s delights by now, so decided to head somewhere different for my 40th birthday. Early impressions were good but quite quickly things took a turn for the worst. 1.5 hours in, with only the starters served up, I asked one of the waiters for an update on our food. Expecting a coherent answer I was instead met with aggression and confrontation, with the individual in question arguing with me on how long we’d been made to wait - please don’t argue, it was 20:25 and we got there at 19:00. Horrendous service but in the restaurant’s defence we did receive an apology (presumably from the Manager) and the service charge waivered - just as well as we weren’t paying it. The Cote need to get a grip of their staff as it only takes one idiot to damage a company’s reputation. Even more disappointing as the food was actually very good, An evening soured by one individual and I shan’t be going back.

Arrived to be told although booked, you will have to be seated upstairs unless you want to go in the bar area. Not entirely practical with 3 young children in the party. So took the bar area which was extremely cold. Service was not the quickest. No staff to be found. Eventually ordered and food came reasonably quick. Most ok although steak and gammon on the mixed grill was cold. Went to order desserts. Again looking for staff to serve us. Not sure we would rush back.

Wasn't a very pleasant experience. The lady serving had no customer service skills nearly hitting my husband in the face with the menu she shoved over his shoulder. I ordered a macchiato that wasn't even half a teaspoonful deep. We didn't bother to eat there in the end. Very unwelcoming. Coffee was nice in the end but no customer service skills.

This is an absolutely amazing local pub. It is so homely, much needed after hiking for 3 hours in the hills. The soup, and the panini were great, and served quickly. You can tell why the locals love this place! I will be happy to return soon when we come to the Chilterns again.
