Excellent lunch with friends at a traditional pub ie not a restaurant with a bar like so many others in south Bucks. Delicious smoked haddock special on spinach bed with poached egg and curry sauce. The fish pie and braised beef get top marks too - Apple crumble with CUSTARD rounded it off perfectly. Beers, wines and food were all presented well by the young waiter and the cost at £35 each was just about acceptable (-1*) but sadly nothing is cheap in this area! We will be returning, thank you.

Another amazing Sunday lunch at The Walnut tree! Thank you Grace and the team for always looking after us! So welcoming (including our little dog!) with delicious home made food! We love coming here for the Sunday roast, they offer smaller plates which is ample for us as the portions are very generous. The sweet menu is also very tempting! At the moment they have a lovely 2023 festive specials menu which we will definitely be trying! Thank you again! And see you soon.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch today with my friend who lives locally. Attentive waitress served us, and explained to us the food that was on offer. We both had a Ciabatta each and shared a side of chunky chips. One is adequate for two people. To finish the meal we chose the Apple and mixed berry crumble and custard. We savoured every mouthful! We plan to visit again very soon.

Oh dear this pub is attractive outside but inside beware the manageress ! She is not welcoming but bar and serving staff good. The food here is hit n miss and expensive. They advertise "wraps" but they are thick sausage roll type and not good for the gut ! They need to review their menu. Sadly you cannot just drink in this place, if you do not order food you are not welcome. Its pretentious and there are much better options closer to hand.

Sadly not the food i have come to expect! We have visited on numerous occasions both with family and friends and had a good experience. I had a burger and when it arrived it looked like it had fried onions in it but alas it was some sort of burnt cling film or wrapper. We showed it to the waiter who as you would expect was horrified and then the manager /owner came out and apologized. sadly I did carry on eating it once i removed said item instead of sending it back but i didn't want to waste as it was only one art of the food When my daughter went to pay and this is the bit that earns this review we had only one beer taken off the bill and the food we had to pay for. Sorely disappointed .

We booked as a family to have a Sunday roast and hadn’t been to the walnut tree for a couple years. The pub itself is lovely and we were sat next to a warm fire. Unfortunately the service was disappointing the waiters must have come up to us a dozen time for our order and we felt extremely rushed. Secondly the food arrived the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the quality of food was underwhelming. One particular staff member seemed very hostile and like she didn’t want to be there. Overall disappointing and not what we had expected.

Just back from an evening out without the kids. We had the opportunity to try The Walnut Tee but did not know what to expect. The website does not do it justice. The food was excellent and really friendly service. I had the Steak and Kidney pie which was one of the best pies I have had for a long time. My wife had the chicken breast which also very good. If you have room for dessert try the Marmalade Brioche Bread and Butter pudding it was outstanding. Now looking for an excuse to go for Sunday lunch.

Did not feel incredibly welcome. Pointed to a table to sit at, was not keen…asked about another area to sit ‘it’s closed’ I was told. Moved to a table once another couple had left. Continually told they were closing at 10. Reluctantly put another log on the fire, buts small one as they were closing at 10. Again told that they close at 10. Bill brought over at 10, followed by the card machine, again told they close at 10…will not be visiting again. Will look for somewhere else that does not close at 10. I've been to the Walnut Tree a couple of times for drinks and to eat, and by a long way when you go for drinks you are not welcome. You are either frowned upon by the unpleasant manager and/or moved on from your table to make way for people who are eating. I think they've lost sight of the fact it's a pub (a relaxed, social drinking establishment). They should advertise themselves as a restaurant and they are almost certainly not child friendly. The greed of the money that comes from food has taken over and that's such a shame because it could be such a lovely local pub for all the community. Much better places to drink (and eat!) nearby.

I went here with my family-nine of us in total-and have concluded that I would not go again. The prices are not extortionate but certainly aren't cheap for a family on a budget and I'm not exactly sure why either as I found my food not greater than average. The staff weren't overly friendly either so overall a disappointing dining experience. (Also not a lot of choice for any picky eaters)

This is our favourite place to eat in Bourne End or Marlow. The food is always very fresh and authentic, and the service friendly and helpful. Lovely garden to sit in on a warm evening (even a couple of chickens running round) with plenty of comfortable seating. Good range of gins, wines and beers.

I enjoyed the prompt service and tasty fish pie. Went for the small size option so that there was room for the orange Creme brûlée. Good ambience with groups of other people having fun.

First time visit for me with a couple of friends who had been before. Their food was OK, having told staff that, on their previous visit, it had not been good.

poor food and service was embarrassingly terrible. The waiting staff were rude and i found a pube in my salad, I assume it was one of theirs as i trimmed mine last week.

The staff where very friendly and accommodating, even when asking to move the reserved table because of the dog. The food was well presented and delicious, and there was a great choice for a Sunday menu! The drinks menu was great and included a lovely selection of gins!

Stayed with friends for the weekend and had a drink at this lovely local pub on the Saturday evening. There is a small children's area in the garden and a chicken was roaming free! Dogs are welcome both inside and out. We decided to book for the following day which was Father's Day and at first we were told they were fully booked. Our friend spoke with the landlady who managed to squeeze us in. So glad she did as it was the best roast dinner I'd had for ages. Lovely tender rib of beef and great service.

Thursday evening supper with 3 girlfriends. Our second visit here, because we really like the food - and anywhere that has Viognier available by the glass is on my list. I like the surroundings, it doesn’t feel like a drinkers pub. I also like that there a smaller portions available of some of their dishes and can particularly recommend the fish pie. Very good service.

This is an absolutely amazing local pub. It is so homely, much needed after hiking for 3 hours in the hills. The soup, and the panini were great, and served quickly. You can tell why the locals love this place! I will be happy to return soon when we come to the Chilterns again.
