Our Dining experience was great and our waitress Aaliyah was very helpful and cheerful throughout our time spent there. The food was excellent and quick despite being busy. Will return soon.

Excellent venue for a meal with friends or family. Friendly attentive staff. The menu will satisfy most tastes. The choice of drinks is extensive.

The service is friendly and fast. I have eaten here several times and the food has always been very good. Their rack of ribs is delicious as the neat slides off the bone and the sauce is sumptuous. There is also a large car park. It is also good value for money. I recommend eating here.

We visited pub with friends for dinner. Even the pub was busy, our food was served relatively fast. I had fish and chips who were very tasty and portion was huge too. Service was great, waiter came several times and ask if everything was nice.

The experience with the staff was amazing and the food I would say was ok. Generally good cocktails and nice atmosphere.

A big thank you to the staff, especially Kate,Jamie and Charlie. We requested a seat by the window as having Chemo and needed ventilation. Staff on two occasions excellent and no problem to them. Well done Britannia and first class food. Recommend to all great atmosphere and staff.

We have just returned from one of many visits to the Britannia. I've never heard a waitress apologise to the customers for lack of food. It was quite surprising to hear that there were no roasts available on Sunday, even at 5 pm. However, we decided to go with something simple, steak and steak & chicken, which doesn't take long to cook, so goodness knows why we were sitting waiting for 50 minutes before the food arrived. Again, the waitress kept apologising for this. When the food arrived, we asked for the coleslaw, which came with the steak, but the waitress apologetically said they had run out. She offered to take the cost of our drinks (sparkling water & Soda water) off our bill along with any dessert if we wish to choose one. After eating or steak and dry chicken we didn't want dessert and asked for the bill. Again, this took a long time to arrive along with another apology. Don't visit, not worth the money. Poor food etc.

Ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen die Auswahl der Biersorten insbesondere Ginness , optimal serviert, anhaltender cremiger Schaum und optimal gekühlt. Service sehr zuvorkommend und professionell.

I had a large beef brisket Sunday roast,lots of tender beef,very satisfying meal,apple and rhubarb crumble with custard for desert,again lovely,service was amazing,very friendly,recommended by family who go regularly. Definitely going back again.

Went to the Britania on Saturday 6th of January hoping to have a meal. After waiting several minutes at the Lecturn, someone turned up and put us on a table, said he would be back with a menu and to take an order for drinks. We waited half an hour and still no one came to take an order or give us a menu, so my partner decided to go and get our own drinks at the bar. Waited a bit longer and eventually stopped a waitress and asked her if we could have a menu. She supplied one. And we sat waiting for over half an hour and no one came to take our order.. eventually, we decided to go elsewhere with our business. The Britania has gone downhill very rapidly. I would not dream of going in there again. It always used to be the best place to go for a meal. Such a shame. Good luck, Britania I don’t think you’ll be around for longer.

nice enough place but cocktails very expensive and the decking can be extremely slippy it’s only a matter of time until someone falls, plus the heaters don’t all work

Great for family pub lunch with kids. Food choice standard pub, good value and tasty. Beer can be hit and miss with flat pints sometimes, the house ale is not the best in my opinion.

A shame there's only 5 stars to give. What a nice start to 2024 with an outstanding service during my lunch visit here. Food was great atmosphere was splendid, hats go off to our waiter Gary for an 10/10 service. Hilarious from start to finish... can't ask for a better service. And this just goes to show that there are hard working and dedicated staff member out there... a round of applause to you all 😊🫡👏🏾👏🏾

Went to the Britannia for lunch this afternoon.We have not been here for a little while so decided to go back again as we love it here.The food in here was so delicious,for starters I had halloumi sunken in sweet chilli dip,that tasted delicious and I loved the dip too.The chicken and rib combo never disappoints and tasted delicious and was a real feast to munch on!The chips were nice and crispy and tasted delicious.I love it that you can add dips onto your main as I love bbq sauce so much I thought it would be rude not to go for it!And it was delicious and I’m totally glad I made that decision I dipped some chips,some chicken and some slaw in it.The chicken was delicious too,certainly deserves the name chicken and grill pubs.Also the bbq ribs were delicious as well,fall off the bone texture,plenty of glazing and tasted delicious!I love the slaw too,really fresh and delicious.Service from Yala was fantastic as well,she informed us about the offer and she was really kind and friendly(btw she has served us a few times before).Service was really fast too.When we asked for more water Yala offered us a jug which was nice because rather than keep requesting it you can just help yourself to a bit when you want.Atmosphere was lovely too,nice decor,immaculate and great value for money!Unfortunately they have stopped the cracking which is disappointing as that was one of our favourite dishes here.One thing I would say to improve on is to add a salad bar!Would highly recommend this place and hopefully I will be back soon.

Family of seven went for dinner in Xmas week, mixture of meat eaters and vegetarians and what a wonderful experience we all had. Food was amazing, staff so quick and friendly we always go there and have always had a brilliant experience…well done all a really good quality and good value experience.

Nice place. They were able to seat us right away. About 50% full at 6 on a Thursday. My chicken, steak, and jacket potatoe were really good. NY wife had the salad with pulled chicken, but that was not so good. Too little chicken and it was overcooked and dry. We'll probably try it again.

When here for lunch food was dry and over cooked my daughter had hunters chicken the brewers fare loudwater is 10x better than this one I had a steak with mushroom sauce what tasted like sick the grilled tomato was as if it was out of the bin dint look freshly cooked atall the steak was chewy sad to say I will never return again

I have only been here once as I don’t live in Marlow. However, tonight the General Manager came in to the Pub I work at the self described “phsyco bird from Essex” is a lovely person based on tonight and lovely Management will bring with it lovely staff I wish them all the success in the world and will definitely be coming in more often.

Great food, shame about the service! Staff are not attentive enough, we waited far too long to be served and once had to ask 3 times just to get another drink. Such a shame and there was no excuse as thier was plenty of staff to cover how many people were in the pub but literally no idea how to service it, food was lovely!

Shame I can't give half stars. I've eaten here a few times. We decided to have the festive set menu here, even from waiting to be seated it wasn't a good start. The food wasn't great at all, it felt as if quantity made up for quality sadly it didn't cut it especially with the wait. The wait staff did what they could and I think were slightly overwhelmed. Food on other occasions has been reasonable so don't want to be to negative but the festive occasion was poor.

Food has been a little disappointing the last couple of months.

I don’t like chain pubs as the food is very rarely cooked well but I have to say they done a very good job. Considering it was a very busy lunchtime service with lots of Christmas parties the food was exceptional. The service was a bit slow but that was fine. They clearly have some good staff working the kitchen. Christmas turkey dinner was all piping hot and very tasty. Plenty of food on the plate. More than impressed, keep up the good work.

I went here for a lunch meal with some family members, the staff were very quick to come and take our order. The food was very tasty and quick to come out, the waitress was very attentive and cleared our plates soon after we had finished eating. The price is about average for a pub/restaurant.

We visited over 3 months ago and nothing has changed - nice place, good food but service not good and it's obvious they are short staffed. We were going to order a sweet and coffee but gave up waiting for someone to come over and acknowledge us and we paid at the bar and walked out. They need to take orders at the bar if they can't provide the service expected.

What amazing staff and lovely place. So warm and welcoming great selection of food and drinks and the team were ever so welcoming. Having a bit of a laugh with us aswell when we were deciding what to drink. Will be back again.

Limited choice for vegetarian kids. The server didn't pay attention to our queries & forgot a subsequent drink order. Despite that, the atmosphere was pleasant, ready for Christmas.

Brilliant - REALLY looked after me+the dogalog xx. Did us a takeaway panini and chips - HUGE 😂. Google Maps made us 3/4hr LATE UPSET baby kitten with heart defects - I was inconsolable. What SHOULD have been 3 hrs total - there+scan+back - WAS SIX AND A HALF HOURS. I BLAME GOOGLE. ..

We go here quite often as we have always had good food and good service. But yesterday wasn't great, over cooked steak, under cooked veg with the roasts. The service was slow and no check backs. Was taken back a little by the managers comments when we said about the food. Was on the abrupt side. Hopefully it was a one off.

I loved this place. The food was very good, the chips were great, and the apple and mint drink was great. Nice place, go with kids. The toilets were clean, and all the pub was clean. I recommend 👏

Having eaten in the chain of restaurants, especially chicken and grill establishments this was disappointing, dirty wine glass and obvious disparity between restaurants, normally two chicken skewers per portion served on wooden skewers, unfortunately 1 skewer here with inedible cremated chicken burnt to a crisp with no warning of red hot metal skewer! I would suggest a major disregard to the customers safety, especially if served around children.

Family meal with 3 generations of us & everyone remarked how excellent our waitress Toni was - friendly, efficient & wonderfully welcoming.

Very average pub which is a shame because it's in Marlow which is a lovely town. Unfortunately it doesn't draw a very nice crowd... just very average and if you're looking for something 'cosy' this is not the place for you! Also not the place if you're looking for something classy... not very nice decor.

Food was very good. Service from our lovely waitress was warm and friendly. Will definitely visit again next time we're in the area.

We are regulars at the Britannia and I have written reviews before however I feel the need to write another one. Many of the familiar staff have left as they are going to university etc. The new staff were doing their best but you could see they were slightly overwhelmed. Natalie was a familiar member of staff for a long time but left to develop her career further with the company. She was really missed so it was so lovely to see her back (we were hopeful it was a permanent thing, unfortunately not). She explained that she was covering until the new manager started. Natalie was fabulous with the staff, especially the new less experienced ones. She managed and mishaps a professional and effective matter, thank goodness she was there! Thank you Natalie x

Last sunday I booked a table on line for 5:30pm today for 8 people. When we arrived at just gone 5 there was a notice on the door which said the kitchen was closing at 5:30, I went to the bar and said we had booked and they said that was fine. 1st we werep shown to a table that hadn’t been cleared then moved us to another table. We ordered our meals but 2 things we ordered they didn’t have. Meals came out which were ok, when we finished they cleared the table and asked if we would like any drinks, I said can we order pudding and said no kitchen is closed. I had a moan as we weren’t told we couldn’t have pud’s and then they came back and said we could. After eating we paid bill £179.50 and then ordered more drinks and went outside. At 8:30 they came round and said last orders, when website said 10:30 close , I noticed a notice on the door when we where leaving closing at 9 but nothing on the main door when we came into the building. This was a very disappointing evening as we were with family from oz who were only in the area for 2 days. We were hoping for a nice evening but cut short, if we would have known would have definitely gone somewhere else. I emailed them and head office but no response very poor service.

Great meal, service very slow, understand they have staff shortages, but was only told this after 30 min wait for dessert!

We ordered a pop corn and this was served cold.....the rest of the food was good.

We've been coming here for a friends meet up for a few years. We've come back because it was good, but now it's really not. Although we had booked a table no-one greeted us and we waited an age for a drinks order. The bottle of wine ordered was not the one received but was ok. Service poor although Matt was good. The food was very average. Chicken & steak combo disappointing. Steak very small and far from 5oz as advertised. Time to find a different meeting place.

Went for a birthday meal. I had a combo of 1/4 chicken and 5oz steak. The service was very slow, seems like we were forgotten, took over an hour to come to us. The 5oz steak was tiny (like a mushroom) they offered to cook me another but would be the same size. The other meals were just ok. Spoiled the celebrations.

Great food and excellent service

This was my third visit to Britannia and unfortunately I left feeling disappointed. Firstly we was greeted with a friendly staff member but unfortunately placed in an area next to a table of plus 6 people which were very noisy and loud. We couldn’t hear are own conversation and had to ask to move to a more quieter area. However our drinks, starters and mains all arrived very quickly and couldn’t fault anything. We decided that we wanted dessert but after waiting 20 mins after our mains and not to be asked if we even wanted dessert we gave up and decided to just ask for the bill instead. Another 10 minutes went by and eventually we had to go to the bar to pay for the bill. The time of visit was mid afternoon so it wasn’t busy at all, and a few members of staff looked like they had nothing to do. I will return as I like this restaurant but it won’t be for a while.

The most horrendous food I have ever come across. I can’t say eaten as it wasn’t edible. Potato’s spent less time cooking than the gravy that broke the plate as it glooped off my fork like a lazy council worker filling pot holes on the a404. My family christened it the Sh1tAnnia as it was so poor.

Very good pub for drink and food

Great customer care and the fish and chips were the best my mother has had for a long time (and when you're 91 that's some compliment!!). The waitress went out of her ear to make sure she had a comfortable chair and an accessible table. Will definitely return!

I love this place and the lovely young waitress with the glasses I forgot her name it's an unusual name, just a darling to have met since we have been coming here, one of the reasons we do as great service and food is very good!

This pub sells the best pint of IPA in town.

Was at this pub recently, met the most lovely manager Lauren, she was so kind to me and my husband. She was really personable, and she was extremely accommodating to us, my husband is a coeliac, and the fact that you offer a complete gluten free menu is fantastic. We really appreciated having her serve us in an extremely knowledgeable and effervescent way.

No snack menu today. Service was slow seen as we were first in, very busy though.

Used to enjoy coming here, wasn't impressed with the food this time, scampi and chips coming in a plastic basket, and no peas unless you added as a side.

First visit for a long time. Really nice meal. Very friendly service.

Bald guy was very rude when we entered. He must be stressed out. That explains the hair loss. Was on his phone and completly ignored us and acted like he didn’t wanna be there.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. The level of customer service demonstrated by the manager, Lauren (I believe she said her name was), was simply atrocious. It was clear that she lacked both professionalism and basic human decency. During my visit, I witnessed an incident that left me utterly appalled. A family, who I have seen dining here for years, was rudely interrupted midway through their meal. One of the family members had a severe dog allergy, and when another customer entered the restaurant with a dog, they politely approached the manager to request a change of seating. However, instead of handling the situation with empathy and understanding, Lauren chose to unleash her true colors. She responded with snide comments and backchat, trying to engage in a needless argument with the family, saying that they should tell the restaurant they have an allergy to dogs(very unnecessary as are going for a meal not a dog park). Instead of addressing their valid concerns, she insisted they remain in their current seats, disregarding the allergic person's health and well-being. It was evident that Lauren lacked any sense of customer care or respect for their needs. To make matters worse, after finally relenting and allowing the family to move to a different table, Lauren had the audacity to laugh and mock the situation. She even had the nerve to boast about the restaurant's dog treats, as if that somehow made the paying customers less important. Her arrogance and complete disregard for the customers were absolutely disgraceful. I have personally witnessed this family grow and enjoy meals at this restaurant for years. It is truly disheartening to see their loyalty and comfort shattered by the arrival of a manager who evidently believes she is superior and entitled. As a result of this disturbing incident and Lauren's despicable behaviour, I have decided never to return to this establishment until this manager is gone. It is essential for a restaurant to prioritize customer satisfaction and provide a welcoming environment. Sadly, this establishment failed miserably in that regard. I sincerely hope that management takes immediate action to rectify the situation and reevaluate their staff, particularly the manager, to ensure that future patrons are spared from such appalling treatment. The manager's behaviour was disgraceful and caused unnecessary distress to the family, who deserved to be treated with respect and understanding. The family after moving seat rushed their meal just to get away from the manager. Furthermore, I feel compelled to express that I will not be returning to this establishment until the manager, Lauren, is no longer a part of the team. Her appalling attitude and lack of customer service skills have left a lasting negative impression, and I believe it is in the best interest of both the customers and the reputation of the restaurant to have her removed from her position. An apology to the affected family is the first step towards making amends, but it is crucial that the restaurant takes swift action in addressing the larger issue at hand. Customers should feel valued and respected when dining at any establishment, and it is disheartening to witness such a flagrant disregard for basic courtesy and professionalism. I sincerely hope that the restaurant takes these concerns seriously and implements the necessary changes to ensure that incidents like this never occur again. Only then can I consider revisiting this establishment in the future.

I have now visited this McMullens establishment several times. Staff are pleasant and helpful if it's NOT busy Alarm cord in Disabled toilet did NOT comply with Part M on my visit. also often left open. Can be very busy - better when quiet

Took my mum out for lunch here, lovely lovely place! Food was delicious, fast service and friendly welcoming staff. The skin on fries and onion rings are divine. Very reasonably priced - will definitely come back!

What a ridiculous experience…phew ! Sunday evening 4 of us- pre-booked… We were made to change 3 tables before we could settle down in spite of pre-booking….our drinks took 30 mins to reach our table with not 70% of occupancy… Then the waitress came back and said we cannot order mains as the kichen is packed orders…on pressing a bit they agreed to take our order. I am sitting right now waiting for a pint of beer since the last 20 mins… Really don’t know what’s happening here…paying a bomb and no service…guys pls do not visit this place on a Sunday for sure….really BAD experience…they r just living on their ambience to be honest…will not recommend at all !!!

Sad to be leaving the Britannia a bad review as we are regular customers and also normally do birthday meals here. Today we when with family for my father in law's , my husband's and my birthday . Our waitress Karen was lovely and helpful. When are meals where brought to us. We were disappointed back the size of the fish and chips meal ( small fish and barely any chips ). Also barely any chips on my husband steak meal also. When we asked the manager about size of fish and chips he was very dismissive and told us that was the size. When I explained that we are regular customers and it's never come like that before. He just said thats the way it comes. With to be honest a can't be bothered attitude. The attitude of the manager ruined the meal for us. For the sake of him saying I'll get you some more chips which would of cost the company pence. They lost customers and we purposely had no deserts as we felt we no longer wanted to spend money here. Our garlic bread arrived near to the end of our meal also after chasing it. Karen our waitress was very nice and tried to sort our table to make it enjoyable where she could. We explained to her why we weren't happy and that we understood there was no one to complain to as it was the manager who ruined our evening. Sadly won't be going back any time soon.

Ordered a wine and had to ask twice more for it, and a wooden chair was about to collaps and very rickety it had 2 new screws in the rear of the chair as a temporary repair I have a bad spine so if it had collapsed I would have been in trouble (please repair properly) apart from that food was good for the whole table 8 of us, just a note the disabled toilet down stairs needs to be more accessible other than asking for a key.

Another excellent meal at the Brit. So lucky to live close by this outstanding pub.

Today I held my father's wake here, and I was so pleased with all the staff, the organisation and especially the food. I highly recommend the Britannia and will be using again for any of our family events. Nothing was too much trouble, managers when so professional and all staff were very polite x

Sat here now at 6pm on a Sunday and half the menu is not available. Everytime I come here they're missing food. We booked and rather than wasting our time coming we could've arranged to go else where. Honestly, no gammon, lamb, beef, pork belly or chicken wings. Pretty ridiculous for a sun. Doesn't matter if you're busy, a well run pub shouldn't run out of that much food especially, what you would imagine would be your busiest day. Every time I come, there's food unavailable. NOT WORTH WASTING THE JOURNEY
