Marlow Bar & Grill in Wycombe

Went for a team dinner with colleagues. The service was impeccable and so attentive, all the waiting staff were really friendly and couldn’t help enough. There are a few vegan options but nothing hugely inspiring. The vegan chocolate mousse dessert was great.

Just reading Michaelnotwinners review, would like to share my comments as I was seated at the bar ..Think he was slightly intoxicated as his friend had to apologise for his behaviour. Wanted to complain about everything The manager was very polite and understanding I just thought he was a free loader . Hoping for a free drink on the house Nothing to complain about... staff are wonderful and friendly great food well worth a visit. Will return

We took a last minute early evening booking before going to the cinema. We were in an outside extension room which is to be expected for a last minute booking, it wasn’t a great atmosphere but considering it was an extension with a temporary roof it was just about warm enough. The restaurant manager closed the door over I assume because it created a draught for the main restaurant which seemed remarkably impractical for staff who had to bring food and drink in. So maybe be check where you will be seated for important events. We liked the menu choices - a good range of classics and some interesting twists on classics. We ordered peppers and buffalo mozzarella and bruschetta - both pretty good for starters. Lots of tomatoes on the bruschetta. For mains we went for the cod and the chicken with gnocchi. Tasty food, nicely served. The service was a highlight - it couldn’t have been more attentive. Nothing was too much trouble - a maitre d and waiting staff on hand were very good. Overall very good and we would definitely go back.

I went there with a friend for a couple of glasses of wine at lunchtime. There are very nicely upholstered bar stools and we were both dressed quite smartly. We sat at the. bar and then noticed that another customer sat their dog on one of the chairs. I asked the barman what was the policy on dogs sitting on upholstered chairs. He said that he did not personally agree with it but that he was in a no win situation. I asked to speak to the manager, who was very aggressive and stressed. He said that it was a dog friendly area and that I didn't like it then I could go elsewhere. I asked if he would refund the drinks that we had already ordered but had not drunk yet and he declined to answer. He just said that he had been working hard and the whole place was very busy. I persisted and said that I was OK with the area being dog friendly as long as the dogs were on the floor, but not on the nicely upholstered chairs or on the bar. He then got very angry and said that ' of course he wouldn't allow dogs on the bar' but when pressed he would not say whether dogs would be allowed on the chairs or not. He then said that he did not see the dogs sitting on chairs, but I persisted that his barman did. He then repeated that I could go somewhere else but did not offer to refund the drinks. The whole experience was very stressful. I feel that the staff are very aggressive and unfriendly and are possibly overworked, stressed and untrained in decent customer service. I would not go again and advise only to go if you do not care about hygiene, wearing nice clothes or want a friendly and relaxed experience.

Probably one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Lovely food, great service and a good atmosphere in the restaurant for a Monday night. I would definitely recommend!

My friend took me to the restaurant for a special birthday. I ordered pizza it was amazing not too stodgy and very light but filling. Can’t remember what my friend ordered but she liked it too. The lady that took our order was very attentive her name was Kelly there was another waitress that checked to see if everything was ok. It was a busy night there were two big tables next to us but we didn’t feel intimidated and were well looked after. Lunch for 2. On a Monday it was quiet only 4 tables busy. So service was good and the food was excellent. One pizza and one seafood linguine. Very good, I thought.

Dropped in for lunch - busy but seated straight away - only ordered one course Calzone pizza terrible soggy base and small - my wife had a crab ravioli which was decent. Ordered a glass of wine twice and it came just as my wife was finishing her meal £65 - very expensive mediocre won’t be back

Sadly this place was clearly overwhelmed (but yet not very busy) and had also clearly given the chef the night off! Typical chain, many items absent from the menu due to either inept management or poor supply chain. Service was abysmal, completely inattentive. Pizza was shocking (never seen a pizza so thin you could actually see the plate below) and carbonara was nothing remotely connected to true Italian cuisine and the Chicken with truffle! Comical, it was more like a soup, but with no proper chef, a base sauce would be out of their league I suppose. In all, very poor indeed.

I have to say that the food here is spectacular, service is great and the atmosphere is also amazing! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Food was ok, but not what was expected at those prices. Pizzas were ok, bruschetta and calamari were poor, pasta was good. We were in a side room so missed out on the atmosphere. Really quite expensive for what it was.

Went there yesterday with 5 friends and the staff could not have been more accommodating in the hustle bustle of pre Christmas outgoings with families and older folk all with varying needs. The chefs clearly knew their craft as the menu was thoughtful with beautiful presentation and taste. Top notch

Went last night with my friend to try this restaurant. I can definitely recommend. Warm welcome, attentive and service was excellent. The food was exceptional and I will definitely go again . It may be a little more expensive but as they say I’m worth it!!!

Loads of choice on the menu, we need to go back so we can get through the options we didn’t choose in the end! Florianna was our waitress and was fantastic! Nice setting and food was amazing. As I said will definitely return to get through all the food options we didn’t choose!

Worst seafood linguine ever! The meal was ok and staff helpful, but this was overall disappointing. The restaurant is noisy and food underwhelming. In particular, the seafood linguine was presented with 1 prawn and 3 prawn heads; shellfish shells were also empty with the number of loose pieces of shellfish less than the number shells. They were also dry and shrivelled. I told the staff it was the worst seafood linguine I had ever eaten and this was subtracted from the bill and they said they would let the chef know. I have subsequently heard from another person that they experienced a similar meal of shells outnumbering shellfish hence now posting. A practice in the industry I have read about. Better meals can be had elsewhere. Poor.

I went to the Piccolino on Saturday night for my birthday meal, it was absolutely fabulous! The food was so delicious and our waitress Dominika was so attentive and helpful. She gave us excellent service. I cannot recommend a visit to the Piccolino enough :)

Bland main course. Ordered the fresh pasta with Truffle. Piccolinos should check out how San Carlos make this dish as in comparison very bland. Atmosphere nice though

We visited Marlow looking for a lovely place toast that was a little more expensive and at Piccolino Restaurant we found it, the Buffalo Mozzarella starter was creamy and delicious, the Filetto al Pepe melted in the mouth and the Tiramisu reminded me of my own homemade, delicious. Our server Ilena was extremely helpful, attentive and charming. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited for dinner in a party of five. The venue is attractive and is very well fitted out with a busy and fun vibe. Service was efficient but the prices for both wine and food are extortionate. Two of the five starters were fine but three of our group had the mozzarella dish with sourdough which was tough and virtually inedible. Of the mains, three had to be sent back because they were cold. These were then just heated up with the plates all being mixed up when returned. The reheating took any moisture out of these dishes ( all fish dishes) rendering them inedible as well. Given the prices being charged I would have expected far better quality food. The old adage that too big a menu tends to be a bad thing definitely rings true here. The wine was also outrageously expensive, well over £30 for bottles of very ordinary Merlot and Pinot Grigio. I appreciate there has to be a mark up on wine, but these prices are ridiculous. All in all a very disappointing experience, I for one would not choose to return.

Great space inside and a really lush atmosphere, staff were so nice - friendly, polite and accommodating. Great cocktails from the bar... We ordered... Sharing starter amongst 3 diners of Fritto Misto, rated 7 out of 10 as the wild red shrimp was so overcooked that the shells were all but empty - everything else on the platter was fabulous though. Starter portion for 1 of bruschetta classico , rated as 6 out of 10 as the bread was not crunchy and the tomatoes were very cold like they'd just come out of the fridge. Mains were fab just one niggle - The aubergine parmigiana which tasted great needed either a larger portion or bread on the side as it was not filling. The Lasagna, Pasta Vongole and Pasta Salmon were excellent. Bread , courgette fritters and side salad were also all good. Good espresso to finish - no dessert.

quite overpriced for what it is - we were drawn in by the sharing starter pictured on the menu board outside (£28.50) then were served something that looked nothing like it - the batter was burnt and the largest pieces were inedible parts of the prawn (pictures attached). the price was already very high so we were really disappointed. the steak was also overcooked. on the other hand, carbonara was good and the tiramisu was delicious - however overall wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning, mostly because of the shock surrounding the starter

I had to return my inedible pasta dish. My husband’s Carbonara was gloopy and the smoked bacon was totally overpowering. Our chicken livers starter was delicious and the service was good. What a shame that the management of this swanky restaurant has got it so wrong. Room for considerable improvement!

Best carbonara I've ever tasted, and the focaccia is incredible, would definitely come back again and recommend to go here, the mikkie mouse pizza made me smile too my daughter was very happy and finished her plate too

Good location and nice place to have a get together. Friendly staff. I opted for the houloumi burger which was ok. Chips were nice and the beetroot option was better. Ice cream for dessert was very good. Please check prices online as quite pricey. I am vegetarian but I think the meat options were better from what others were saying.

Had the lunch menu, food was good, drinks expensive. Make sure you ask for tap water, or you will pay over £6 for a bottle of water.

Great atmosphere, however waiter / chef not great. When I placed my order for a steak, I asked for it to be light pink in the middle. My steak arrived blue-rare, and I asked the waiter to have it cooked a little more. I didn't expect a public-dressing down from him about it, which I received. The 2nd attempt arrived and it was exactly 💯 the same?!?! I called him over and showed him that it was exactly the same. He again started to raise his voice and I said "you and I aren't going to fight over this, I'll order something else." I ordered a burger which they cooked OK. Rude staff, haven't seen anything like that before.

Food was excellent, in particular the steak tartare. Drinks a little expensive but the atmosphere was good if a little quiet. We wasn't asked if we wanted water, which was a slight let down, I feel service could have been better. The menu online is also very different to the one in the restaurant, so perhaps call ahead if you want something specific. We wanted oysters, but alas, they had none and although I did have the steak tartare it wasn't on the menu.

We cannot thank the team enough for the most perfect wedding reception. Kelly, Juan, Michel and the whole team went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. The food, the wine, the service, the space, the attention to detail was all absolutely incredible. Not to mention the time they gave us before the day to run through everything with us. Thank you so much everyone - highly recommend using the bar and grill for your next event!

Very poor customer service and below average food, I asked for my burger to be cooked medium rare and they said they can only cook it Well done. Very strange for a Grill house. I asked them to make an exception or just ensure it is not done too well. It came back so over cooked I could taste the charcoal. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. After rushing you through your courses when it was not even that busy, they then added 20 pounds to the bill for service charge which had I received any would have payed happily. Will not recommend or be going back to this restaurant.

Great steak restaurant with sharing steaks, wagyu on the menu and a good fish selection too. Food was delicious and good attentive but not over bearing service great way to spend a couple of hours with friends 😁

Worst dinner we ever had , we took some starters to share where the scallops were overcooked and browned color, we said nothing just eat and to mention the Kalamari 🤧we ordered main a sirloin steak medium and a T bone medium well,price shows 39.9 pp, so why should i pay £80 when i ordered for 1??? Waiter should of specified and let us know but instead he said "yeah I know the way how is written here is tricky " Ok so my sirloin steak arrived dryy and cold and no taste, at least this he took it back and no charged He asked if peppercorn sauce is okay to come with steak, I said yes but my partner said mushroom sauce please, what he got? He got peppercorn sauce with a side of fried mushrooms 😂who got charged for it We were so tired and we didn't have the mood of complaining but just paid over £180 for 2 person 😂and left Never back again

The price point for their inconsistent and (to be honest), mediocre menu is designed to target the clueless spenders that Marlow draws in nowadays. Been a few times now. The ambience can be fun and nice. But the food has a premium price tag for meals that'd be trumped by most chain restaurants.

This evening dined at this restaurant with my partner and it was a disappointing experience. The T-bone steak we ordered to share was undercooked and of poor quality. Additionally, our two fillet steaks arrived with one being rare and the other medium, despite our specific medium-rare request. When we expressed our dissatisfaction to the waitress, there was no effort to make amends—no discount, no complementary dessert. We ended up paying the full bill of £160 for a subpar meal.

I’ve mixed feelings to share, on the one hand every indicator was that we’ll be enjoying a great dinner, the ambience was just right, the service looked attentive and it was clear that they know their way around meat however it wasn’t quite like that The service had a few hiccups, a portion we ordered didn’t arrive and later was identified as missed in the order, we had to chase our waiter a few times As for the food, our medium T-bone was more like medium well and I would not take puddings there as they’re not great I will return at some point to try a standalone steak, I do have a feeling that someone was off that evening as from the reviews I know they can do better

Poor slow and strange service. Still a great building and location. Menu looks great but had to chase several times. We could see some food ready but sitting there. Staff chatted with each other and ignored customers. Group near us gave up. We cut the visit short.

The Marlow Bar & Grill catered/hosted our pre-wedding day drinks party in July. The team did an amazing job and everything was executed perfectly, with no guests drink ever left empty. The food was exceptional and MBG pulled together a bespoke canape menu for the event. We booked the terrace area with the roof retracted, it felt like we were abroad. Thanks again to the team running the event on the day. Would highly recommend.

Very average overpriced food in a nice venue with good service - helped by the fact it was deserted on a Wednesday lunchtime. £100 for a midweek two course lunch for two is 2 star Michelin pricing. They say it's impossible to overcook duck but I guess when it's cooked off site and shipped in a vacuum bag to be microwaved to death on site it is possible after all? And a shipped in long life hard merangue with a blob of cream, a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of strawberry syrup with a few sliced strawberries is a £9.50 Strawberry Pavlova? Luckily there is much better food and value to be had in Marlow.

Called in for an evening drink with the wife; we were served quickly and we’re lucky to be able to sit outside in the evening sun. We’ve been a few times and like the atmosphere and location.

Finally got to visit, went with a friend who lives locally and has been a few times. An all round enjoyable experience; beers on tap and great chunks of meat for dining. Staff were amazingly friendly and would definitely go again. Really good experience.

The wagyu beef steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well. Hugely disappointing for £60. Caesar salad was revolting and the tuna steak was dreadful. Empty restaurant so genuinely no excuse for everything being so poor. Will never go again and would actively encourage friends or family not to go

I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying the Argentinian steak experience on Friday night at the Marlow bar and grille. Wow. Just wow. The most tender and flavourful steak I have ever eaten accompanied by the most outstanding customer service from Michael who was the perfect host. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Had a lovely lunch at the Marlow Bar and Grill. There was plenty of choice on the menu to suit any palate. The staff where friendly and the restaurant was clean and well presented. We sat in the back section which has a retractable roof, so it was nice to sit alfresco. Overall a pleasant meal and great atmosphere.

She made it her goal to make me feel at home from taking me to my seat, grabbing my drinks, and personally serving the food. Really disappointing considering what the meal cost. We had lamb chops which were significantly overcooked, when we told the waiter about it they just said they would replace the chops and walked off, no apology or anything. Service in general was off and staff seemed to argue between themselves. Really gutting as we couldn't wait to go here but probably would not return l

Excellent bistro in central Marlow. Friendly and efficient team plus varied menu with lots to choose from (l like the tuna steak w/ béarnaise sauce, tempura prawns & crab ravioli). Lots of different seating including an indoor/outdoor area for when the weather gets warmer. I was surprised with a birthday cheesecake, lovely 😍.

We were in a hurry must finish 40min after ordering. This done with 10 mins to spare. We enjoyed the salad we ordered.

The service was bad, the food was worse! I ordered fillet steak cooked medium, they bought out 2 slices of flat iron steak cooked WELL over well done. When I sent it back ot took nearly 20 minutes to bring out the new steak because "the kitchen was very busy with other orders" I used to love this place but the last few times I've been the food has been sub par and most of the waiting staff are either rude or just completely ignore you. I won't be going back.

The food was lovely but the service was a bit slack. We sat in the covered patio area and there was a bad drain smell. We mentioned this to the waiter who dismissed it saying it was next door and beyond their control.

I recently visited this bar with a friend to grab some food and have a catch up with him. We decided to chance a walk in as we didn’t have time to book, and the staff are very friendly and managed to find us a table immediately, there was a time limit on it, but they gave us enough time to enjoy the food and drinks they served. I ordered a burger and my friend ordered the chicken skewer, the food was brilliant, perfectly cooked and was enjoyable; the only problem seemed to be with my friends dish, where we felt the portion size was small, so we had to order some more food. Really impressed with the service, the staff couldn’t be any more friendlier and we’re happy to help, and even though we’re on a time limit, the staff never rushed us. As the place is popular, we did notice it can get loud, so you have to speak up a bit if you’re chatting to friends, but it didn’t affect the atmosphere or how much enjoyed the place. There are so many places to eat on Marlow High Street, but I have to say this is one I will return to very quickly, if you’re after good food, albeit in slightly more smaller portions and good value for money, then definitely come here.

First time here but definitely will not be the last. We were 4 walk-ins at about 6pm, got a table in the window.....fantastic. Great service from all staff, very friendly and professional at the same time. Clientele were a mix of couples, families with children of all ages and some very discrete and well behaved dogs😁 The food was really superb. The moules were some of the very best I have ever had in any restaurant here, or abroad. The ox cheeks were amazing. Great wines, too. Highly recommended and will, most definitely, return.
