Popped in for a drink after visiting a local historic house. I received a friendly welcome and sat near to their open fire place. The pub has an oldy worldy feel with wood beams etc. The bar is split into small areas making it feel cosy Out back is a large garden area and to the side a covered outdoor area. There is a good size car park too! The pub serves food but not all day. There were slate boards on the fireplace showing what dishes were on offer and they looked interesting ( see photos ) The final piece of road that leads up to the pub is an unmade road with a few quite large holes so ease take care.

We went on a Sunday for lunch and had a reserved table outside. When arriving the table was in a mess and had to ask for the table to be cleaned. A waitress came and collected some plates, but did not remove the glasses or wipe down the table. The time we went back to the bar to order food (which was an hour wait), we asked for the table to be cleaned again as it was a mess still. The man serving us gave us a wet J cloth and said we would have to do it ourselves as they are too busy. The food arrived and the two chilli con carnes were so watery and basic, so that was a little more disappointing. The overall experience was a little disappointing. I understand they were busy but would of been nice if the table to just cleaned rather than me moving all the glasses off the table and cleaning it down. Again they were busy so we were told before hand that we couldn't order a roast.

We visited this popular Pub for a Birthday Party. After spending a long time trying to find it being tucked away down an unmade road, we were not impressed with the limited disabled access. Both myself and my wife have disability issues, my wife being unable to walk and myself with a walking stick. There are many steps throughout with two just to enter the building, in my opinion this establishment is not disabled friendly. We were not impressed either with the state of the glassware, they have never seen a cleaning cloth ever, just in and out of a dish washer Not what you expect when paying the cost of drinks today. It is a very popular establishment however there is no excuse for standards to slip.

A real gem of a county pub without any trace of a national chain, so rare to find nowadays. It was busy with locals but made me feel at home being not from round these parts😅. Food was first class, my steak pie had no trace of fat or gristle and tasted fab, the mash it came with was piping hot. My wife's ham egg and chips were pretty tasty as I nicked some of her chips and ham. Looking forward to revisiting in a weeks time and have booked a table given its popularity.

We are regular lunchtime visitors to this pub when visiting family. The atmosphere is generally buzzing, the staff are welcoming and friendly, the food is excellent - although the portions could be a bit smaller! The chips are some of the best I've eaten, crunchy outside, fluffy inside. There's a good range of pub staples and a specials board, with several veggie options. It gets very busy sometimes, and as food is made freshly there may be a long wait for your food to arrive. In the meantime, there are 2-3 real ales on the bar, and some nice non-alcoholic drinks for drivers. There's a huge garden with swings etc., with awnings over tables closest to the pub for some shelter. Inside it's rustic country pub style, with a small snug and two other seating areas within the bar. The car park is quite big, but note that the 'road' to it off the common has some significant deep potholes!

The roast beef tasted more like pork, in fact it most likely was pork, it is the only explanation for the taste Whatever it was, it was tough. Seemed to be warmed up cooked slices rather than a cut from a joint roasted in the pubs chicken. The deserts were all bought in, well at least they seemed to be. Well kept ale, but sadly too cold. The prices are low. Will not be eating there again.

Came here all the time as a child with my brother and grandmother for a bowl of chips and a coke after walking through the woods back in the 90s and early 00s before we moved to Devon. My wife and a friend of ours were visiting Bucks, staying in nearby Naphill, and just had to visit again. Nostalgia aside, this is still an incredibly beautiful building, brick and flint as is typical of the area, and features everything you want in regard to old wooden beams, a lovely fireplace, a snug and a large outside garden with plenty of tables. It is nestled in some incredibly pretty countryside and woodland. We stopped in for dinner, to begin with there are some excellent ales on, well-kept and a good selection. The menu is good sized whilst not being overwhelming, and I had Welsh rarebit which was delicious and a chicken, leek and pancetta pie- really good food in terms of flavour and good sized portions. Overall, it was an excellent night and the staff were attentive and friendly. We also popped in on a walk back from Hughendon the following day, with my brother as well and his wife for a drink in the beer garden, which we all enjoyed. Finally we also had a Sunday roast at the Le De, which was excellent, a nice selection of veg, cauliflower cheese, and I had the chicken which was really tasty with a nice gravy. Yes, we did visit this pub quite a lot in our stay in Naphill! So, overall this pub is just as pretty as I remember it and an excellent idea for good food. Thanks to all the staff for looking after us and we wish you every success in the future.

We visited on the day of the airshow, so we expected it to be busy. It's great that they give kids a colouring sheet and crayons which my younger grandson immediately started working on. Unfortunately when he tried to move the paper, we realised that the table was SO FILTHY that the drawing had to be peeled off the table. I had rested my forearms on the surface to look at the menu, and almost lost a layer of skin as they were bonded to the table. We asked for the table to be cleaned, and the willing waiter came with a dry J cloth and a spray which he wielded around ineffectively. What tables need - at least once a day - is hot water and detergent, in a bowl, with a frequently-rinsed cloth or sponge. Faffing around with a spray and a dry cloth will not clean a sticky table! Ok, our meal was satisfactory but I would have expected it to be when one kids meal and one small, two medium fish and chips, two glasses of wine and one pineapple juice (the kids meal included a drink) came to a few pence under £70. The food was good, but front-of-house hygiene made me wonder what's going on in the kitchen. We won't be returning ever.

Called in as a family group for lunch on Sunday. Nice pub garden with balancing walkways for the kids. Staff and customers were friendly and lunch was excellent with huge portions. The only small criticism would be the gate leading from the kids playground into the car park - lots of thoughtless people left it open during our visit which is dangerous for kids. A self-closing hinge would solve the problem. Otherwise a great place and we'll visit again.
