The Dog and Badger in Wycombe

The Travelodge was a very nice accommodation to have lunch, drinks and breakfast. I would maybe next time book some breakfast.

Very enjoyable meal with family celebrating my father’s 80th. Service excellent and food very good. We were greeted with a friendly smile and made to feel comfortable from the start.

We stayed at The Dog and Badger recently but unfortunately, were disappointed and will not return. My reasons are as follows:- On arrival, we were shown to a room that had not been serviced. We were quickly allocated another room which was a decent size with a lovely bathroom and good shower. Clean apart from the numerous spider webs behind the bathroom radiator. We had pre-booked the Dog and Badger for a 3 day stay, based on the pub opening hours clearly stated on the website, with the intention to end a day's sightseeing with a few drinks and perhaps a meal. In fact the pub/restaurant was closed for the duration of our 3 day's stay. Despite a large sign on the car park stating that the pub was open all day, it was closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We returned to the pub on Sunday evening at 8.10pm to be told by staff who were talking outside, that the pub was closed. In fact, the bar should have been open until 9 pm. No effort was made to open the pub for us. On one evening, we realised that the path from the car park to our accommodation was in total darkness, posing a huge safety risk. Rang the emergency mobile on the information sheet in the room, but it was not a valid number. I really don't know what we would have done had there been an emergency. Left an email regarding the above. General Manager rang us the following day to apologise. The website has since been updated to reflect the actual opening hours.

Once again another visit to the D&B whilst in the area visiting family. The place was clean, warm, and inviting upon arrival. We were greeted by Dawid in an extremely welcoming way seconds after we walked through the door with a smile on his face and a handshake. Asked if Ryan was around, and was told he would be available shortly. Together they made our 2-hour visit perfect and we didn't want to leave if I'm honest. Once again, we had a spot of lunch and a few soft drinks. Both burgers, again were fantastic. Nice and crispy onion rings. The chips were cooked to perfection and Ryan had asked if we would like to add some Cajun seasoning to our chips, it took the chips to another level of deliciousness. Something I had never thought about adding before, but was pleasantly surprised by how well it paired with the bacon cheeseburger. The 2 chefs on duty that day, Dory and Leigh are fantastic at what they do, and considering their ages, there is only one direction they're going to go (up). Overall another perfect visit to the Dog and Badger, thanks to Ryan and his staff. Thank you all.

The Dog & Badger is well worth visiting- the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the temperature is just right, the seats are comfortable and the food is delicious and very nicely presented. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Our second trip here and was again absolutely delighted with the high level of service, quality of food and atmosphere of the restaurant. Sunday lunch was a delicious treat, the roast lamb was perfect as were the accompanying vegetables and potatoes. The chefs obviously put care and attention into each and every element. Gorgeous pear and chocolate tart for pud; the pastry was chocolate and it came with crème anglaise and toasted nuts. Staff anticipated our needs. For example, the water bottle for the table was replaced just before it was empty and towards the end of the meal. Attention to detail, indeed.

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch. Roast beef and all the trimmings. Everything was superbly cooked. The beef was perfect and melted in the mouth. Very good value and would highly recommend. Will definitely be going back. Delicious 😋

Just had an amazing Sunday lunch at The Dog and Badger. Can’t fault a thing. There is a new winter menu, the duck confit was delicious and the roast beef melted in your mouth. Such incredible value and a really lovely experience compared with some more highly recognised establishments. Don’t hesitate to give it a go!

This was a hidden gem. We were staying at a nearby hotel and came across the Dog and Badger by accident. Service was fabulous and very welcoming. Food was great and at a reasonable price. Very clean. Only negative was the fish batter which was very greasy, otherwise it was good and tasty. lovely surroundings and quiet. So good we went back the following day.

We stopped here early evening on the way back from Nuffield House on the off chance that they might be serving food. We were shown a menu before being seated to see if there was anything that we fancied. We were then shown to our table. My wife had the Spring lamb and I had the Steak and kidney pie. We were both very pleased with our meals. Although the menu is not large, it is not the normal run of the mill. The staff were excellent, attentive and friendly.

Excellent evening all round - great menu with lots of choices, great quality food (in particular the pie and the dessert soufflé), very friendly but understated service. Highly recommend!

From start to finish our booking, stay at the Dog and Badger couldn’t have been better. Easy to find, just outside Henley. We stayed in Juniper as we had a dog, the room is amazing, very large, more of a suite vibe, incredible stand alone bath with mood lighting and double sinks, superb double shower. The room is a small cottage right next to the pub, so no noise and what’s better it has its own enclosed garden of considerable size. Very clean and super comfy bed. No doggy smell or evidence of this being a dog suitable room. We arrived early (3 hours early) and they rushed to get our room ready so we could get in to get rested. The food in the pub was plentiful, none of this little bit of nothing on a large round plate! The chef makes an incredible salad and knows how to cook a good steak. Great wine, we had a bottle not in the wine list at an extremely reasonable price ( far less than you pay for it in the shops!). The pub doesn’t do breakfast but we stopped in at H’Artisan at Wargrave and had the best breakfast ever, fantastic coffee too. Have to complement the staff, nothing was too much trouble and they couldn’t do enough to make your stay special. So all in all, don’t hesitate, just book. We will definitely stay there again when next in the area.

Had a fantastic vegetarian roast. Would highly recommend, the meat eaters loved their roasts too. Dessert was fab, one of the party had soufflé it was amazing. Lovely setting and plenty of parking.

Miles & Ryan and their team go above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was exceptional. The food is wonderful, the rooms are lovely and well equipped and house keeping always ensure they remain spotless. The warm welcome, attention to detail and the little touches set them head & shoulders above the other comparably priced choices. I really couldn’t recommend highly enough. Will definitely be back.

Arrived early on a Saturday evening, and greeted by excellent staff and shown straight to a table. Lovely food especially the pork belly and the lamb dish was exceptional. Soufflé desert is really good. The pub itself dates from 1390 with beams, etc., but has a contemporary feel. Nice outside area also. Thanks to all the staff and would recommend completely.

Cosy pub bistro with great decor and first class customer service. The look and feel of the place is only outdone by the food. We had hullomi fries to start and steak for mains (the chargrill carrots are delightful). My wife and I stayed in the Casia room and loved every minute. Free standing bath, walk in shower and telly in bed, what’s not to like! Great escape for couples, park the car and enjoy food and drink and a great nights sleep. PS - gin bar is a real treat!

Wonderful country pub with fabulous well equipped, contemporary bedrooms/suites, huge comfy beds. Delightful and attentive service. If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Marlow/ Henley, look no further.

We've been coming here on and off over the last few years and its latest version has a lot to answer for. Arrived on a Saturday early evening and the place was deserted. The starters were dry and bland, no children's menu apart from chicken or cod goujons. Barely anything available on the menu (no steak for example.) The service was terrible with barely interested staff. On top of that I was charged £95 for a couple of starters, 3 mains & one children's meal. Fair to say that I won't be coming again.

Food was so much better than HAnd and Flowers - lovely atmosphere and great food and the rooms are out of this world - will be back

Working and arrived 9.15pm on a quiet Tuesday evening - 3 of us eat (excellent lamb special starter) and the traditional burger and fish and chips off the specials menu - food very nice, service excellent. The food was mostly bad as the gravy was very thick and the beef had lods of fat on it and barely any beef,there was only 1 carrot and it cost 12.5%vat as we were 6 people, the person next to me had fish and chips which was very good ,but the person opposite me had a musroom and colliflower dish and she found it very dry and there was no source on the collifoler which I found very odd , the water was quite walm and quite slow service it wasn’t my cup of tea but if u like food fatty,dry, plain, thick and your water walm then this is the place for u

Lovely pub. Found out it was dog friendly so went straight away. Have been a few times now. The staff are always great and the food has always been lovely. Would highly recommend.

Had dinner here on a Wed evening. The interior is far better than you may imagine as you drive past in the main road. All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - especially the duty manager (Mark). The food was great - had 3 courses, and a very good selection of wines - and a complimentary post dinner drink too. Would definitely go back if we were in the area again. I understand it has recently been refurbed - wish the place the best of luck and success - deserves it!!

Not sure what to expect having read some of the earlier reviews, but we had a lovely meal with very attentive service (to be fair, it wasn’t busy). I hadn’t be sure what to expect with a flat-iron steak, but I followed the advice offered and went for it ‘pink’! It was very tender and tasty, Lovely crunchy chips too. Certainly very different to the pub years ago, light and airy but retaining character. Definitely worth a visit.

Having been to The Dog and Badger a few times and enjoyed the food, it is disappointing to have to give the following review. The service was slow, and it was not a busy sunday, and to be told that there was no Apple Sauce to go with the Pork Roast(!!!!!!). It was not that they had run out but they didn't make any; call me a philistine but if my Roast Beef had been any rarer it would still have been running around it's field. I appreciate that they have to freshen up the menu from time to time but it was a very limited menu on a Sunday, to the point that it will be a long time before they will get our business again sad to say

Visited last night for dinner. I had heard great things and wasn’t disappointed! The crab and ravioli starters were lovely, only surpassed by the monkfish and halibut main courses. The wine list was really good too and great value! Finally the place itself looked fantastic, as were the service from beginning to end. We will definitely be returning!

We have supported this establishment through all of its recent iterations - even had Xmas dinner there for the last two years - and have always been at least satisfied and oftimes more.

I went here for lunch with my son on a Saturday. We were shown to a table and told to order at the bar (which I thought was strange for a restaurant) we stood at the bar for 10 mins whilst the people in the queue behind us were served! Food ordered and we sat down and then a party of 4 came and sat on the table next to us and had full table service, why did we have to order at the bar? Food came we both had burgers, awful!!! The burger was like rubber and the chips very over cooked! It’s not a cheap restaurant but is my local, such a shame we won’t be going back and I certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

We visited here for my husbands birthday on Sunday and wow we were so impressed . The staff were so polite and couldn’t do enough for us so polite and helpful. Our meal was amazing a lovely chef was so pleasant and introduced himself to us to help with any dietary needs. Fully recommend .

We were visiting our son who took us here for our Easter sunday lunch, it was delicious and very filling, very warm, friendly and welcoming and quiet. we were amaused by the very religious back ground music not to everyones taste but the owners must of thought it was approporaite for Easter Sunday.

I stay here on business trips to Henley. Everything looks awesome but under the surface there lurks some issues. On the positive, the rooms are all very neat, tidy and clean and the meals are excellent. The bar is especially a nice place to be. However, there are some issues. Check in and out is always a little confusing and I think, can feel hostile! Also, some of the rooms will not be suitable if you're over 5.5 ft tall! Some of the facilities don't work, for example, I stayed in their most expensive room and the bath didn't work. I feel like the hotel could be amazing if they just sorted out a few things.

It’s been many years since visiting The Dog & Badger and in that time it has transformed into a smart very modern looking bar and restaurant.

Was surprised when I booked only 2 days in advance that they had Availabilty for a table of 5. Had been recommended by a friend so thought we would give it a try. Place was very empty on arrival and didn’t get much busier while we were there. A lot of drinks were out of stock [no coke, surely a standard soft drink - driver could have water as only other soft drinks available were full of sugar and not suitable for a diabetic) Roast was extremely sparse, 2 small slices of meat and left feeling hungry. Staff ok, but for a quiet service not much interaction. First visit and on first impressions don’t think I would waste the time and return anytime soon - far better alternatives in the area

Booked extended family weeks in advance for 10.00 Sunday brunch following wedding day before but restaurant had not brought in sufficient staff. Didn’t get food until 11.45 by which time bride and groom had left!

If you love your burgers.... this is one not to miss. And if you appreciate a warm friendly service too... you won’t be disappointed either. Mark, billy and martina all super nice and it was well worth giving here a try. Will be back for some more!
