This is a very nice pub but beware, please do not sit on the benches OUTSIDE the pub fence with your own picnic. (There were no signs to say they were for pub users only). It was a very quiet time and there was nobody else waiting to sit down. After spending nearly £50 on 2 rounds of drinks for the 5 of us in the lovely garden, we left and innocently sat down on the seats. This will made landlord very cross. We didn't realise that we were breaking any rules. This upset me so much that I was nearly in tears!

Here for lunch on recommendation. I don't think the owners will mind me saying that the pub in nothing special to look at from the outside but a lovely interior awaits you on stepping inside and you are rewarded with a pleasing old fashioned 'pubby' ambiance. Not a huge range of choices of fayre but this an independently owned house and it is far preferable to have fewer choices that are home-cooked & served hot. We had the Sunday lunch roast pork and it was delicious. We asked for an extra jug of gravy, it was was supplied gladly (and proper gravy too made from the pork juices - yum!). Service was welcoming attentive and unhurried. Would be very happy to return and sample other menu choices. Real ale was another plus and whilst there was a wee problem with the Tring Sidepocket at the time of our visit the Moonshine was a more than adequate substitute. The loos were modern and spotless and made a big impression with the ladies in our party! Very fairly priced ..won't burn a hole in you wallet. Big tick for the landlord and his team.

Our walking group of 20 had lunch at the Swan at the end of a walk on Wednesday 30th October. We have lunched together at many pubs, but this is one of our best. Great food, service and value for money. All walkers were very complementary about the very high standard of food, which was delicious and well presented and included home made pies, fish, scampi or halloumo and chips, omelletes, jacket potatoes, beef lasagne, soup or sandwiches. It was an easy walk from there through Great Kimble to the Ridgeway with many lovely views and points of interest. We have used the Swan before and will certainly use it again.

Cynthia helped with our enquiry on the phone and was very efficient in emailing me the menu within a few minutes. Kimble is 40 miles from our home so is not local to us but we certainly hope to eat here again. Before this, we had only had a couple of visits for a drink when visiting the home village of my ancestors. The new loos are really nice as is the overall décor of the restaurant. There are benches outside and a lovely playground opposite so children can play while the adults relax. Parking is easy and the station of Little Kimble is within walking distance.

This pub has a mixed history. I frequently used to visit about 20 years ago. Then it became an Indian restaurant and I supposed that meant than yet another nice pub had gone for good. So, when passing by recently, I was pleased to see that it is a pub again. So I pulled in for lunch.I had ham, egg and chips, which was both delicious and reasonably priced. The menu said the ham was home cooked. It was good to have proper ham again - so much tastier than the packaged stuff that the supermarkets think we want to eat.

Very quirky place!Visited for Mothers Day lunch, as a family of 7. Unusual to find only Pork or Lamb for the Roast, so 3 Beef eaters had to opt for something else. The best thing with the Roast was the vegetables! I believe them to be fresh,The rest of the dinner was frozen. Meat was thinly slices pre packed, Yorkshires and Roast Potatoes were Aunt Bessies, or similar. Gravy was thick and strange.Pate starter was disappointing with no toast, just melba toast pulled straight out of a packet!!Prawn Cocktail was very few prawns. To be honest, you get what you pay for, re the Roast, £9.95 but starters and Desserts were still a substantial sum.Middle aged waitress, although very pleasant, was a bit vague. 2 drinks were not delivered. Didn't say anything, just accepted.Just a very old Country pub with old wooden chairs, and sticky wooden tables, not at all comfortable. Toilets were old, cold and out of order.Needs refurbishment to make the place more homely, warm and welcoming.

Well seasoned, tangy sauce and well cooked, the coleslaw was rather bland but is only a minor part of the meal, the fish was a again small and a little overcooked but not unpleasant, chips are great and tartare sauce is good too, really compliments the dish.It is a no frills pub meal with pleasant staff and nice surroundings

My friends & I have been eating here regularly for years now - I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian or Nepalese cuisine (a good selection of really tasty dishes, good value and catering for different levels of spicy 'heat') and they're serving some more 'traditional' pub fare again now, too. They know how to look after their ales and have a selection of lagers, plus cider and all the usual drinks you'd expect to find in a pub. The staff are great - friendly & helpful, get to know their regulars and I've lost count of the number of times that I've just been thinking that "I ought to go and order food" when, as if by magic, someone will appear to take my order. The place is divided into separate 'restaurant' and 'pub' sections, with a good-sized beer garden in front, so you can pick your preferred setting for food &/or drink. There's a decent car park in front, too, with free parking for customers.

Turned up for a late lunch with the family, told 'we don't do food, haven't for years'. Decided to stay for a drink; slow service, rude (bar staff just stood there staring at us), and then some kid tried to sell us drugs from a menu on his phone. Real classy place. Certainly won't be returning.
