The best restaurants in Shirley Southampton South East

I trust the Cornish pasties they sell are made west of the Tamar bridge in Kernow and transported up to Southampton. If not they are beef pasties.

First visit to The Cowherds in a long time, absolutely won’t be the last. Wonderful food, drink and atmosphere. Great selection of Sunday roasts and other menu options. We were served by Tabi and honestly don’t think we’ve ever had such wonderful service. Tabi was attentive but not invasive, friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend. Vegetarian options and dessert were wonderful. Very happy with our meals, around £30 per person for a Sunday roast, pint and dessert.

burger is watery and the bun is soggy. don’t ever order from here as i rang up as i didn’t get enough change by £10 i noticed as i was walking with my food in my hand and the driver had basically ran away. i rang up the next day as i didn’t know i had to ring them bcs i paid with cash and not just eat. he told me that it wasn’t their problem and told me to come in to the shop to ‘talk’ but i wouldn’t get my money back. absolute tramps

We love this place, beautiful welcoming pub. We have been here a few times before for dinner as a couple. Last weekend we hosted a group event here with thirty people including children. We had warm welcome, they reserved a big enough area for us which was also pet friendly. The food and drink are great with good value for money, and the service is also very good. Additionally you can find plenty of free car parking on the street, and get a nice walk in the Southampton Commons on a nice day. We will definitely host large events in this pub. Large digital poster displays a lunch time special offer a hot drink and a cheese and ham toastie. My partner bought two cheese and ham toasties and two teas. He was overcharged by over £3.50 and wasn't given the offer...the reason... because he bought a Wiltshire ham and cheese toastie, and not a "ham and cheese toastie"*. Basically ripped off. Staff member was quite rude when I raised my concern. When I said I wasn't happy, she said she wasn't happy either but 'hey ho'. Not only are they taking advantage of people visiting ill relatives, the Manager isn't interested in customer service or doesn't care that the advertising is misleading. He refused to give a partial refund when I raised the mater. *Costa coffee website states "British ham and cheese toastie" is included, so why is Wiltshire ham not 'British'?

This looks as though it has changed hands recently ordered fish and chips and burger and chips fish was small and mostly batter chips were under done burger was ok nothing special worker was out side having a cigarette severed buy another at the counter guy came in from out side and did our food no washing of hands absolutely stank of smoke will not go back

Hidden in the depth of the hospital is Paddy and Scotts. Its a very average coffee shop usually with less of a queue than the hospital Costa with more friendly staff.

Awful , bland and had a grey hair in mine . Won't order again

Ordered 2 pizzas for delivery and was told 30 mins. Phoned an hour later to see where our order was, and was told it is literally about to get to us. Phoned again 45 mins later to say we still didn't have our order, and was told the person called at our house but no one answered. We explained we are in, the lights are on and no one has been, to which they replied, OK we'll be there in 15mins..?? Sorry Domino's 2hrs is totally unexceptable and as very very regular pizza eaters we will now look at the many other pizza suppliers in the area.

Can not do simple things right, such a shame. Been stitched up by this store so many times my rage has caused me to destroy my entire order and vow to never ever eat from any of your establishments again.

Overcharging customers that are poorly... The manager is extremely rude and getting her staff to overcharge people £6.15 for a chocolate fudge brownie frappe with an extra shot. At Southampton train station I went in order the same drink and got charged £4.80. Spoke to the manager in there and they said it because it's a franchise. COSTA SHAME. ON YOU RIPPING OFF SICK PEOPLE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

Basic food at a basic price … served without a smile
