Stayed in Battle for few days had intended to book afternoon tea here but sadly didn’t get round to it, stopped in for breakfast on our last day which was lovely. Lady serving us was very friendly and chatty. We also enjoyed the cakes we bought to take home. Great music playing too.

Had a lovely meal here on the 1st December with some of my friends who I used to work with & the food was superb. The staff was excellent, very friendly & extremely helpful. Highly recommended for a night out at any time of the year Superb All Round

It’s hard to put into words just how incredible The Pilgrims Rest is. The venue is such a special, old building and the way it is always decorated so beautifully makes it look simply magical! My husband and I married here just a few weeks ago and it was the absolute perfect setting for a cosy winter wedding. But that’s just the beginning of it, because not only do you get this beautiful building but you also get the most wonderful staff that come with it. Waverley was an absolute delight from day one of our planning, answering my many questions, arranging viewings for us to return again and again, recommending the most incredible suppliers and I felt so reassured seeing her face walking into the venue on the morning of our wedding. Amy was also incredible and jumped to the rescue when a local hotel let us down. They really couldn’t have done more and went above and beyond at every opportunity. I cannot thank them enough and would honestly suggest that anyone wanting a cosy, intimate wedding rush here immediately!

Overpriced and disappointing. Came with a group and all meals pre selected. Slow Braised Pevensey Lamb in its own rosemary & thyme infused stock topped with buttered sliced potatoes & a medley of winter vegetable turned out to be a very small portion of lamb hotpot, no accompanying veg. About what you would expect from a supermarket value ready meal. Salmon served with Saffron potatoes, salmon was lovely, mash was tasteless and clearly prepared well in advance, completely tasteless. 2nd time we've been here this year and certainly won't bother again. Used to be a cracking family pub, but now not worth a bean.

We had a lovely meal here, the restaurant is beautiful inside and out and the staff were very friendly! Our food was delicious, there’s a good range of drinks/cocktails to choose from and everything is reasonably priced. We would definitely come back if we visit Battle again!

Visited this restaurant after a chilly afternoon out. Hotel bar was warm and cosy. We ordered a med Sunday roast which was very good, also hot and did not have to wait long. The roast was excellent, as was the mulled wine. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will certainly visit again.

We arrived at around 11:15am without a reservation and had a bit of luck and got the last table!! We ordered 2 traditional breakfasts, one gluten free, the waitress was very clued up and checked whether the request for gluten free was a choice or concerning a health condition, once we explained it was due to coeliac she explained that although the hash browns were g/f they were cooked in a shared fryer so would be unsuitable. She substituted the hash brown for another breakfast item to make up for it. The poached eggs were the best we’ve ever tasted and the whole breakfast was amazing! We went in later and had coffee and cake and my husband said the g/f toffee cake was amazing. I had the standard sticky toffee cake which was also delicious. The coffee was good too. We will definitely recommend and will definitely be back. So nice to see young staff who’ve been correctly trained in such important matters. Thank you.

A cracking little pub. We were in Battle as participants at the Battle of Hastings event at the abbey. Popped in on the Friday night, and came back the Saturday it was so nice. Friendly, attentive staff, great atmosphere and one of the finest pints of Harveys in the county..
