If you’re considering the pilgrims rest as a venue for your big day….DO IT! Do not hesitate!! It is honestly the most beautiful and special place, it just has the wow factor as soon as you step inside the gorgeous big wooden front door! It took our breath away and we booked at first sight! First venue we visited too and I am so glad we did! We opted for an Apres Ski themed winter wedding and it was spot on!!! The decor they have in there was beyond perfect and beautiful! Amy & Waverley are just saints! They couldn’t have been any better, the whole wedding party was raving about how hard they worked and always with a smile on their faces! Amy was my main point of contact and she was a star throughout the whole process! Answering my millions of questions and giving very helpful guidance on absolutely anything we needed! She literally made the whole process so less stressful and a lot of fun! We are so so glad we chose the pilgrims rest! Our guests said it was the most amazing day and they adored the venue! Thank you so so much team, we are so grateful for all of your hard work making our day soooo incredible!! From the new Mr & Mrs Harris ❤️

We had a lovely meal here, the restaurant is beautiful inside and out and the staff were very friendly! Our food was delicious, there’s a good range of drinks/cocktails to choose from and everything is reasonably priced. We would definitely come back if we visit Battle again!

Popped in here before we visited Battle. We ordered Ploughman’s lunches which were described as “The Best in Sussex”. They weren’t kidding! It was enormous and wonderfully delicious. Like poor old Harold it defeated us - there was more than we could handle! The young staff are extremely helpful, caring and friendly. We reckon it would be worth the trek to try the Sunday lunch which also looks stupendous. That would probably defeat us too!

I have had the pleasure of eating here on several occasions but always forget to write a review, so I'm doing in bulk now! I have been for Sunday lunch with my husband and the roasts are incredible. The flavour of the rosemary lamb was divine. The roasted parsnip shavings were amazing. I have had a mid week family meal with children and they were so accommodating with my fussy kids, nothing was too much trouble. I have been for their 'fish Friday' the fish platter was amazing, and huge! My eyes were bigger than my belly and Couldn't finish it. Service was amazing and all reasonable prices. It was decorated nicely and had a very relaxed homely feel. Highly recommended.

I don't think there are many hotels in Battle. I wanted to stay there for a couple of nights and this looked the best on the reviews. It's essentially a few rooms above a pub that have been modernised to a good standard. Our room was at the front and had a view of Battle Abbey, which we loved. We're not bothered by traffic noise, but if you are, I recommend a room at the back, without the abbey view and without the sounds of (very busy) Battle High Street. Beware, the pub actually closes quite early (10:30), so don't expect to come back for a nightcap.
