If you like roaring fires, friendly and helpful staff, delicious and reasonably priced food and a decent pint in a calm and beautifully decorated setting you’ll be pleased you came. This is a pub like pubs used to be, with all the benefits of a cozy country pub right next to the station. Thanks to the great team at the Railway for another memorable visit.

Amazing food! scallops and squid were gorgeous , lovely atmosphere with a cozy feel, real fire & friendly staff, I'll defiantly be back.

We eat here regularly, it’s dog friendly with consistently great food and service, bargain ten pound lunches wed -Friday. Proper pie ! Not a stew with a lid tasty proper pie! Interesting tapas and small plates, pub classics, good selection of wines and beers. Great garden space for the summer, function rooms/private dining. Had a Sunday roast here too which was fab.

Impeccable service. We loved the tasty cheese platter with charcoal cheddar. The sea bass was our favourite. Tess, the new owner, and her colleague were very helpful in facilitating transport at the end of the evening.

Stopped here today for lunch. 5 adults and all had different meals. Food was amazing, fresh and hot. Staff were fantastic. Would highly recommend this place.

Stopped off on the way through Battle and we weren’t disappointed. Friendly, welcoming staff. Ordered selection of tapas which were all delicious and freshly cooked. Prawns & Camembert especially were lovely. If we lived this way we’d be regulars. We’ll be back if we come back to Battle.

Beautiful, well thought out menu. Lovely staff that couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Meals were huge and I couldn’t manage it all. Very homely inclusive feel, and I will be returning here a lot more. I feel this is going to be a great venue for my staff Christmas meal this year. Free parking and a beautiful location.

Had such a lovely experience here today, a large group of us met up for lunch as I recommended this place to eat , after eating here a couple of weeks ago and was so impressed. Not only are the owners and staff are lovely, but the food was great, out of eleven people all eating different meals we all loved the food.

We decided to try the Railway Pub In Battle East Sussex it was NYE so at 1st they wernt very busy but quite a lot if people came in during our meal,as we walked in the young guy greeted us he was polite and friendly chatty and helpful, we ordered a roast from a nice menu of food and it came quickly and was very tasty with huge yorkshire puds,again when we paid the guy was friendly and chatty also we met the lady owner who also was very friendly.All in all The Railway pub was a nice experience and would def go again.

I took my children 3 and 5 years old to the breakfast with Santa. My children and myself were extremely happy with the whole experience. Christmas colouring, a visit from santas elf with singing keeping the children engaged. The breakfast was great more choice than expected pancakes for the kids with fresh fruit and full English for myself, more options were available. Santa spent time at every table talking to the children then when we had all eaten the children visited Santa to receive their gifts. There was more singing from the elf which was a wonderful end to the experience. Will be returning next year. Thank you all involved for making the whole experience so great for all.

Came here yesterday for the Santa breakfast with a friend. Was absolutely brilliant, so organised and welcoming. The waitress was excellent and nothing was too much, warm, friendly and attentive. The breakfast was amazing, delicious food. The children absolutely loved the experience, the Santa, the grotto, the elf, it was all so wonderful and personal and truly magical. A lovely place with a wonderful experience. Thank you!!!

We chose this pub to take a small break on our way to the Battle of Hastings historical site, which was an easy walk from train station. Very friendly staff and a nice chocolate cake slice made us decide to do Sunday roast on the way back. The food was good, especially the roasted vegetables and the Yorkshire pudding. We chose to eat in the back garden, which had picnic tables and a play area for kids. What made our experience so nice were the friendly staff.

Popped in after visiting the auction and, though it was nearly 2 pm, we were warmly greeted and sat at a nice table in the beer garden. We both ordered scampi and Mikey was very prompt with the service. All in all, a pleasant experience.

5 out of 5. Cracking pub that has a proper boozer feel but also is family friendly. Great pub garden which is a sun trap, climbing frame and bouncy castle are brilliant. Beer is top quality. So good visited twice in two days. Definitely a new favourite. Sunday roast is great value and tasted deliciously!

Absolutely perfectly delicious roast dinner.really friendly and polite staff, brilliant family run pub atmosphere with an inflatable bouncy in a well confined safe space. The menu isn't complicated or overly large which shows their commitment to getting what they do just right.

We tried the Railway on Sunday as it is just a few doors down from my Brother in laws for Sunday Dinner. The pub has quite a few rooms a beer garden and a bowling green and very important for us Dog friendly. We were greeted by Mikey the Bar manager who provided friendly and prompt service with drinks and taking the order for our meals. We didnt have to wait long as the meals arrived quickly. I had the Roast Pork dinner and the portions were very good and best of all it tasted great as did all the meals in our party. This was down to Dan the chef. Overall we recommend this pub for meals and next time we are down in Battle we will be making a point of going to the Railway again.

My first time here since it changed hands, a very long time ago, attending a post funeral get together, they've changed it a lot, and it's good. Lots to "do" from the pool table to the children's area in the garden. But what I do have to commend is the food, plate full after plate full of delicious, freshly made, nibbles and sandwiches, all thanks to the very good chef! As I'm in a business that invariably calls for post event snacks - this place is the business, and the staff were jolly good too. So thank you The Railway Country Pub - looking forward to returning.

Booked my sons 18th here and the staff was amazing and went out of there way to make his day the best ever. The food was absolutely 100% delicious. Pizzas tasted amazing and the atmosphere was incredible.
