A cracking little pub. We were in Battle as participants at the Battle of Hastings event at the abbey. Popped in on the Friday night, and came back the Saturday it was so nice. Friendly, attentive staff, great atmosphere and one of the finest pints of Harveys in the county..

Escaped a rainy day for a couple of drinks in this lovely old pub in Battle. Really liked the atmosphere and seems like a place where you could have a great time. Didn't have food. Only negative was my dad was charged over £15 for a lager and G&T. Seems a bit excessive in the circunstances but he only mentioned it after we had left so it wasn't queried. Hence only giving a 3 star for service.

We was down from York as viking re enactors and this pub was where we drank after a hard days battle. It was so homely and welcoming that we didnt even bother with the other pubs around. One particular lady behind the bar showed us amazing hospitality and does this pub very proud and know that because of her the vikings will be back, but with more vikings.

We visited Battle for three days and had a drink in most of the pubs. This was by far the worst for customer service. Nice pub but two female staff behind the bar were not eve welcoming. Got a much more lovelier welcome in the other pubs

The most quaint, charismatic little pub My husband and I always make a point to stop by here when we are visiting East Sussex. the lady behind the bar who has been there the last few visits is always so friendly and welcoming, another reason we enjoy it here, and the pub is a host to many of the locals which is statement in itself what a gem this place is. Very disappointing. Went there for lunch with my whole family after reading the favorable reviews and looking at the great menu online. After sitting everyone down we find out they no longer serve any food! The young family on the next table had made the same mistake and quickly left. Hardly what I would call a family friendly pub which is exactly what the sign on the wall says. Complete waste of my time. On the positive side they do have a decent selection of beers. So if you are just wanting a drink then it's fine.

Famous for their clean Harvey ale (very nice indeed) but dining with family including 2 kids so food was the main focus. Quiet inside & decor wasn’t the greatest so a little apprehensive at first. Portion sizes very generous & definitely some love put into making the food (complements to the chef) Great service from staff, felt very welcome. Really want to try out other pubs/restaurants during our stay but think it’s going to be hard to beat the good ol Kings Head for service & quality.

We are staying in Hastings for the half term break and we popped in for a bite to eat with our 2 little boys. We managed to get the last remaining table and ordered garlic bread with cheese, a kids pizza, one Greek and one Parma pizza. All served with a friendly and attentive service and all very tasty. Now they are generously sized pizzas, so we were allowed to take our leftovers with us. Lovely lunch - thank you to all the staff. (Ps. I feel compelled to respond to another reviewer below saying they have no covid measures in place, please ignore that review as this person must have been in a different pub! - all measures are in place and the place is spotless!)

We took a chance on this pub - as we had not booked anywhere for food, but we were pleasantly surprised how good it was. Covid measures where in place, but I think it may be a different story when it gets busier. Menu was limited like most places - but just for Burgers and Pizza it was excellent. All homemade and cooked very well - our pizza's were very tasty. Our dog was acting a bit strange and when asked the staff about the pub's history we were told that it was the oldest pub in Battle and possibly haunted ?? This added to the excitement of eating in these very old buildings in Battle ! I can recommend this place for food or drinks

The real ale choice was very limited and the Harvey's was not up to standard. It's difficult one, we're in the middle of a pandemic but other places I've visited have done better. The pizza's were excellent. It was just a shame that the two closest tables were both occupied by 4 persons who couldn't finish or start a sentence without using the F word. I presume the servers didn't fancy asking them to quieten it down. It's a lovely pub but needs to sort itself out or customers will not return.

We visited here for a quick drink after going to Battle Abbey. Yes, there is a small hand sanitiser on the bar when you enter but that's it. We sat at a table in the outside are (which could be made so much nicer than it is) and at least 2 groups of people ate food and left while we were there and at no time were the tables wiped down, let alone sanitised. Having witnessed that, I decided to keep my hands firmly off the table and certainly did not feel at all safe. Would not visit again if in the area.
