The best restaurants in Jericho and Osney Oxford South East

I wanted to visit Jericho because of its association with Phillip Pullmans “Dust” trilogy. I attempted a late booking by phone and email but when we arrived a table was free outside in the beautiful sunshine. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a quiet drink before ordering the Norwiegenne Crepes and a bottle of wine. The crepes were really well presented, the was plenty of smoked salmon and the cream cheese filling was excellent. The portion size was huge - we could have easily shared one. It is obviously a “locals” pub and we have a very enjoyable chat to one of them. Well worth a visit

I got talked into the seet and sour king prawns with sauce incorporated in the dish rather than separate. Best dish ever,yum yum 😋

The soya hot chocolate is AMAZING! Plus, the team are so nice here at the Waitrose cafe. I had taken 2 sips from my hot chocolate and then knocked it over and spilled it everywhere. Not only were they cool about it, cleaned it up for and helped me move tables, they made me a fresh hot chocolate at no extra charge. Now that’s customer service!

The food and drink was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. If you are in Oxford, this is a place to go. We recommend this establishment.

How lovely to have this wonderful veggie / vegan pub at the end of a long walk along the Thames. Delicious food and tasty beer on tap. Fast and friendly service and peaceful river views. Highly recommend the cauliflower steak with it's amazing caper sauce.

Obviamente no elegimos la semana correcta! Durante la reserva nos preguntaron, varias veces, sobre el hecho de que mi marido y yo estábamos contentos por nuestro hijo de 18 años de compartir la habitación familiar con nosotros. Que les aseguramos que éramos. A la llegada nos llevaron a la habitación familiar para que nos mostraran una cama doble. Cuando interrogamos a la señora que mostró es la habitación nos dijeron que no eran conscientes del hecho de que éramos 3, no hay problema, la cama en la pared siempre está hecha, así que solo necesitaba sacar! Fuimos a cenar a la hora que habíamos reservado . . . . . . . una hora más tarde todavía estábamos esperando nuestros entrantes (a pesar del hecho de que una pareja obvia "regular" llegó mucho más tarde y consiguió entrantes y principales antes de que cualquiera de los clientes que ha estado esperando pacientemente consiguió el suyo! Cuando alguien preguntó cómo lograron ser atendidos tan rápido respondieron que eran amables con el personal. Nadie en ese pub fue grosero en ningún momento con la pobre camarera que lloraba, todo lo contrario, la estábamos consolando. Eventualmente conseguimos nuestra red unas buenas 2 horas después de ordenar. La comida era preciosa, pero como teníamos tanta hambre, no fuimos capaces de apreciarlo. Nos dieron la comida en la casa. Desafortunadamente, resultó ser la noche mensual de preguntas mientras estábamos allí. El pub fue tomado, nos pusieron en el comedor, no tan grande como suena, definitivamente éramos los olvidados, el servicio era muy esporádico y la gente se fue de pie esperando a ser sentado. I can highly recommend renting out the study for private events. It is a great venue with very competitive prices and the great communication with Lambros from the beginning to end made the event planning very easy.

I was really disappointed with my experience here. The guy serving dropped food on a visibly dirty counter, then picked it up and served it to customers—completely unacceptable, especially given the premium prices. For a place that markets itself as “divine cakes to die for,” most of the offerings are overrated and overpriced. Additionally, the lack of gluten options for those of us who actually enjoy gluten is frustrating. While I understand catering to dietary restrictions, the gluten-free selection feels like a compromise rather than a treat. If you’re going to charge top dollar, the quality should match. Wouldn’t rush back.

The AI review uses the words "superb" and "beautiful" which is hard to disagree with. No complaints from our group, on a lovely sunny day what could be better than a British pub by the river, an easy stroll into Oxford , a nice lunch and good company. Parking is tight on site but look out for the overspill parking field two minutes away.

I took a friend for lunch on a weekday. We tried the fixed price menu. The food, service and ambience were excellent, as always. The restaurant was very quiet which was quite nice actually, although it is usually much busier. This is our favourite place to eat in Oxford and it’s worth the effort to get there!

the whole block is closed due to redevelopment. let's hope the area is improved without delay as the main entrance to Oxford from the railway station is turning into an embarrassment.
