Brasserie Blanc in Oxford

Never been disappointed with a meal here ever. Menu changes with the season, bt always imaginative, tasty and well presented by knowledgeable staff.

We had a lovely meal and the staff were very pleasant and efficient. Our train was cancelled so we wanted to catch an earlier train and the staff served our meal in good time for us to catch the train. Food was excellent and hot, well done. I always like the pistachio souffle and the chocolate icecream with it was a treat.

Host was very nice to accommodate all of us. Loved the atmosphere. Food was very good and nicely presented. Taking a star because dinner took forever. Recomend the chicken liver parfait!

The cuisine is delectable and one’s taste buds salivate upon seeing the served plate. We love it! Dr S.

Food wasn’t great unfortunately- venison was dry and the other food was average. Wouldn’t go back. It was no better or different- I have had better food in other small restaurants.

A great choice for a delicious meal, staff are attentive & hard working. This was our 3rd visit and definitely won't be our last! The only gripe is the acoustics of the room making the sound of people talking feel very loud, could do with some background music to drown out the talking. Would definitely recommend to others.

Went to try the new autumn menu and was not disappointed. My husband had the chicken and I had the duck with Madeira sauce. Totally delicious. Followed by the crumble. The red primitive wine was superb. Our favourite restaurant in Oxford for choice of food. Quality and presentation and the exceptional service.

Great food and atmosphere at Brasserie Blanc, but the service was a bit stiff and lacked friendliness. Worth a visit for the delicious menu, though!

Nice food but not suitable for somebody with allergies as their policy is to refuse to serve anything with "may contain" on the ingredients list, regardless of severity of allergy or reaslitic likelihood of allergen content.

We can fully recommend the restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is quick and friendly, and the price-performance ratio is perfect. The restaurant is located in a quiet residential area away from the tourist crowds, and there is a nice pub opposite.

Have enjoyed previous visits here and hope to again in the future but today was a disaster. 80 minutes into the meal our waitress could see that we were getting a little bit twitchy about the lack of food. She was quite attentive but was clearly being given duff information. 15 minutes after telling us that the food was just 6 minutes away she returned to tell us it was being plated up. 15 minutes after that it finally arrived. The manager did apologise and tried to claim it was because they had had a table of 8 people. I pointed out that that’s not particularly unusual in a restaurant and certainly isn’t a valid excuse. Several other tables were clearly getting frustrated too. Something obviously wrong behind the scenes. Let’s hope it’s a one-off. Didn’t stay for dessert because we were getting cramp from sitting down so long.

The staff responded quickly to our pre-dining requests: extra guests, later time, request for special table seating - all were dealt with quickly and kindly. We were welcomed warmly, the food was delicious and care was taken with potential allergies. The only slight criticism is that some of the dishes were a bit sparse - more like starter-size. But on the whole it was a lovely dining experience, and the service was first-class.

Nice setting- they’ve re decorated so lovely ambience. Great menu options- delicious food. Would recommend! (Only criticism was that the champagne by the glass served is not great!)

Amazing value for money, went with a large grouo. The steak was well cooked, the trout was delicious (probably my favourite). The cheese soufflé was Devine.

Nice French, approachable brassiere with an okey wine list and an extensive manu to cater for most people’s taste. Atmosphere is classy and nice whilst service is familiar and welcoming. Had cheese soufflé for starters and the duck confit. Both, well-prepared dishes, although nothing out of the extraordinary. - Value for money? Yes - Worth a detour? A small one - Best for (occasion)? A classy night, on a budget. - Would I go back? Yes

Just delicious food with a range of options for everyone. The Apple and Gooseberry crumble desert is a total victory and not to be missed. Just shows how rubbish supermarket apples are!

The steak was delicious, as was the pistachio souffle. Highly recommend it!

Booked on the basis we had a 25% discount from the website which was never emailed over. The waitress explained there was nothing they could do on the matter. We were forced to go to our other choice of French restaurant down the road which did NOT disappoint. Staff asked us to pay for a bottle of water as we left. We didn’t touch/open the bottle, this was the final icing on the cake. Wouldn’t return.

Went to celebrate my 70th birthday having received a Virgin Experience Gift. Wonderful food and service. No recognition for my birthday though, lol! Restaurant decor / building a little tired. Still worth a visit.

We have no complaints about service, friendly staff and food. All excellent. Unfortunately the noise is deafening. Someone needs to deal with the decor to put dimmers everywhere to absorb the sound. Ceilings, walls and floors all could be padded to an extent to make it a better experience.

Brasserie Blanc is our go to restaurant in Oxford; good atmosphere and good service. We were slightly underwhelmed by some of our food this time and I won't choose the white rioja again! But we will be bck

Food was lovely, but wait time was awful. They say they’re family friendly, but asked me to keep my 18 month old quiet as he was too noisy! If you are a family AVOID!! So utterly disrespectful and disappointing

We had an excellent meal, my wife had the steak, I had the duck. Both meals were superb. The service was exceptional, both of the waiting staff were very friendly and funny. Made it a really fun evening

A treat of a meal out to a place we wouldn't normally visit. Service was good save for 1 or 2 misunderstandings. However the food was disappointing, edible but without any wow factor. One of our group had the bouillabaisse, which to me had an unpleasant smell and not much body. My beef was pleasant enough but rather meagre in portion size. I had the feeling the kitchen was merely going through the motions. Oh well back to Nandos for me.

Oh wow, what a fabulous place Brasserie Blanc Oxford is! Beautifully appointed restaurant, immaculate and friendly staff. Michal made us so welcome and treated us like old friends even though this was our first visit. It certainly won’t be our last! The food is delicious and very well priced. We visited mid-week and there were only a few empty tables. Very lively atmosphere. Only down side is that it was a bit difficult to hear each other as we are both a bit deaf. A very lovely evening which we shall remember for a very long time.

Nicely balanced menu. Food is excellent in a very pleasant dining area. Attentive service. Dishes are excellently presented. Very festive for Xmas. Good new spring menu. In August 2024 both the Chicken Paillard, Lamb Roulard and the Chocolate and Orange Mousse with Chocolate Crumb topping was heavenly.

Great service, very good food generally and comfortable surroundings. The only thing that prevented a 5 star review was the woeful attempt at custard - vegan for some strange reason, it tasted like almond milk with food colouring and thickener of some sort . Vile! Our server agreed. Overall, though, this is reliable place to get a good meal at a fair price. Will return.

Just what we wanted. Perfect steak, wine and service. Very good selection of starters. Enjoyed the pea and broad bean salad with crispy goats cheese (would have loved a couple more croquettes). Snails were just excellent. Soufflé very tasty. The chateaubriand was perfectly cooked and came with fries and a salad. The choice of wines was also very good. We liked the Syrah-Merlot blend (think it was). Service was also very good. Really can’t fault this place. Very highly recommended

Excellent food, pleasant service, lovely atmosphere! We enjoyed dining at this restaurant during our trip to Oxford. There were mostly locals and very few, if any, other tourists. They were helpful to accommodate my food allergy.

Really enjoyed my dinner here with my partner. Great options (both with and without gluten), friendly service and lovely surroundings. Hope to be back!

The food & atmosphere were superb, as is the norm. Recent redecoration is very good and adds to the general good feel to the dining room. Service was excellent, waitresses very accommodating. Very well priced, almost not enough money for the level of service, the surroundings & the quality of food. We will continue to use as our "go to" restaurant in Oxford

Not my first time to this stalwart of Jericho, but I am always pleased to see the standard maintained. The service is always good. The menu is ample and the dishes are made from good produce. I took the scallops followed by the trout and crumble.

Had dinner to celebrate my daughter's graduation. The food was excellent. Service was great. The Romanian waiter was most friendly and prompt. Highly recommended. Am back after a year. Had dinner with my family. The food was impeccable. Starters were Ham hock & pea terrine and cheese souffle...tasty. Mains. Lovely steak, medium rare, done to perfection. Grilled king prawns was fresh and juicy, full of umami. The black rice served with the dish was infused with the flavour of the fresh prawns. The crispy skin of the Chalkstream trout was a delight. Half roast chicken was tenderly roasted. Service by Gabie (not sure if I got her name spelt correctly) was most excellent and wonderful. A memorable evening!

It is always a pleasure to dine at BB. Staff look after you and the menu is seasonal and very tasty. The offers make eating here an attractive option in bustling Jericho. Highly recommended.

Came by for dinner where I ordered the seared Devon scallops and the zest fest mocktail. Everything was really delicious with fantastic service. I would recommend paying a visit if you get the chance.

We had a delicious supper here last night. It was steak night I had the sirloin which was tasty and tender. There was a bit of confusion over the bill but Sam the manager was very helpful and sorted it out. Well worth a visit.

We had the most perfect dinner ever! We were celebrating my son's 21st birthday, and everything was just fantastic. Food was fabulous. The beef bourguinon was amazing and 'melt in the mouth', the soufflé and creme brulee were outstanding. The service was attentive but not intrusive and while the restaurant was very busy, the team operated very smoothly. Atmosphere was lovely. I cannot recommend highly enough. We will definitely be going back.

This place was picked by my brother as we were visiting up from Nottingham for his 21st was very quiet just before the evening rush began but a very nice welcome to us all upon entering. We was quickly asked for drinks and menus serviettes and cutlery to the table and checked upon accordingly by the waiter we needed a few more minutes but was accompanied with water and bread and butter whilst we ordered. I opted for the beef bourguignon with mash onion shallots mushroom bacon lardons sprinkled with chives/herbs and finished with a lovely broth/gravy I forgot to ask for well done beef as I prefer steak medium but beef well done, however the temperature was absolutely on top my knife sliced through it like butter and it was melt in your mouth so 10/10 to the chef 10/10 to our server a really nice vibrant place to eat

We go often to Oxford's BB and think it superb. The food is excellent, the menu wide, the longstanding staff friendly and efficient, and the value good.

The best Sunday Roast in Oxford. The beef was perfectly cooked; pink, tender and full of flavour. Served with all the trimmings, including a Yorkshire pudding. The service was attentive and professional - and special mention of the warm and friendly welcome of Julian, the manager. The atmosphere is always buzzy, but not too noisy - just right. I rate this as one of the best restaurants in Oxford. It is the original brasserie by Raymond Blanc. Bon appetit.

Birthday celebrations on Saturday. Great food and atmosphere. Staff are so friendly. Travelled down from Birmingham, 2nd time we've done this. Not disappointed on either visit. Great place to visit

A very special evening. Impeccable welcome, service and food. We had the great fortune to meet Raymond Blanc himself who very kindly spoke with my mother at length and signed her menu on what was an important celebration for her and us as a family.

Lovely ambience, excellent menu and choice of drinks! Food was delicious and a reasonable price. Cocktails at happy hour were nice!

Very pleasant attractive restaurant in the Jericho area of Oxford . My friend and I had a delicious lunch and the service was friendly - the staff got the hint when we asked for time between courses etc - as we had a lot of talking and catching up to do! Recommended.

I was really looking forward to this eating experience... Sadly I was disappointed. The restaurant is stuffy and hot. The service is fine, just fine. I ordered a carafe of wine, got a glass. The food was the biggest disappointment. The baggete with dips was great, especially the garlic butter, the starters of trout tartar and crab crockets were fabulous... Mains.... The scallops were OK, but grilled prawns with black risotto were overcooked and bland. We opted to stop there and go next door for cheese board and wine. Shame.. Not what I expected. Will not return.

Was here for 65th birthday lunch , I Live in Oxford, looked on line for menu fit for foodies . Decided on here , never been so disappointed. Service was lax, at best , slow service, very unimpressed as not a cheap restaurant. Eventually only paid for alcohol and coffee. On reflection should not have paid for coffee , as ordered espresso macchiato , and only revived espresso. The only thing worth paying for was the brandy , as can’t diss Martel . All in all a very disappointing 65 th birthday. Could not give no dots for the experience, so forced to give 1.

This is a fabulous restaurant. We reserved a table for 14 people for my husband's retirement dinner and could not have picked a better place! From the first contact right until we left we had wonderful service. We submitted food orders before the day and they were delivered to the correct diners by name without one mistake. The waiting staff were attentive and helpful and kept us topped up with drinks etc. The food is excellent and one stand out dish is the dark chocolate and cherry pudding - fabulous. Thank you everyone - we had a wonderful lunch and cannot praise you highly enough!

Bite out of my burger raw burger when they said it would be well done disgusting not worth it they did get me a new burger when i said but it was raw

Went to BB for a business lunch for 12 of us… everything was perfect. We all had 3 courses, no question about quality or service everyone left happy. Thank you to all the team, we’ll be back.

Lovely food but we were very disappointed with the service by a waitress that wasnt very welcoming and made us feel un important. We had to wait to be served taking our wine and food order at the same time. We ordered some small nibbles while waiting for main course and only got one and had to ask for the rest as they didnt arrive together. It was disappointing as it was a birthday treat. I had just returned from a holiday abroad and the service in restaurants was so special and you felt valued.

Having dragged my Mum the 20 min walk from town for her birthday, the reassurance of 'it'll be worth it' became egg on my face. Really disappointing service, sold out dishes, forgotten starters and possibly the most unhappy waitress I've ever experienced in a restaurant, made for a very short Sunday lunch.

The food is wonderful the staff are very friendly but the restaurant is just too noisy for it to be a pleasant experience. Sorry

We were in Oxford's lovely Jericho area seeing a film at the Phoenix Picturehouse Cinema. Just up the road from the cinema is the excellent Brasserie Blanc restaurant - ideal for lunch after a good film. We had a delightful lunch: just one course and some wine. Delicious food and wine and perfect service, in this smart, atmospheric restaurant. Very nice indeed! I had: - Braised Squid, Chorizo & Chickpea Stew with grilled courgette, saffron rouille, baguette Perfectly tender squid, nicely spicy and a bit smoky. Really lovely! I took my mom and daughter for mother's day. When we were seated they said they were giving all mothers some rose Prosecco and I nodded in agreement - assuming it was free. When they gave us the bill I was surprised to see that they charged £7 per small glass. I was disappointed and felt deceived. I would've said something but did not want to get into an awkward discussion in front of my mum on mother's day.

Hearty Compliments to the Chefs and kitchen team for the very good food we got to enjoy last Sunday eve. We were there from our usual area in Cowley to celebrate passing of final exams. Highly recommend the Fowey Moules starter or Fish soup starter. Also the Stone Bass - perfectly seasoned and cooked. My daughter very much enjoyed her Lamb and Jerusalem artichoke purée. Desserts perfectly French! Thanks also to the friendly service from front of house including our nice Food Runner 😊

We booked a table for my auntie Madeline, she had traveled from Ireland for her 80th birthday, to see her sister (our mum) and I cannot say thank you enough, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was delightful, all staff members were so helpful, from the time we arrived to the time we left, they made sure my auntie got to the door safely. There was a chap called Julian, I belive was the manager (I specifically asked for his name) as he made the whole experience totally amazing, himself and his team went above and beyond, to make sure we had the best evening, everyone should have a Julian as a staff member, he really made our experience wonderful, thank you Julian.

We arrived for Sunday and greeted upon entering. The ambience was great and when full we were still able to hold a conversation without being bothered by any background noise. Service was excellent and choices of food and drink easily enough to cater for our varied dietary requirements and allergies. The quality of the food was excellent as was the quantity - we will be back.

A warm and welcoming french restaurant in Jericho. We went for our valentines meal and had the herby gnocchi and toulouse sausages from the winter menu. The pistachio soufflé was lovely. I would highly recommend coming here.

The selection of gluten and dairy free savoury options was okay, but what really hit the ball out of the park was the gluten and dairy free crumble *chef’s kiss*
