Keepers Kitchen & Bar in Oxford

Love the hospitality in this place.. such warm people and lovely service.. we celebrated a friends 40th and they were just on point.. the food was fabulous and the staff were so kind to do some banner and balloon decorations.. love this place and cannot wait to get back with my girls..!

Reading the bad reviews does remind me that thgough I've been coming to this establishemnt since before Marco pierre White and back to the original Eastgate and to be fair, the service has always been a bit offhand and not savvy, but never rude and though a bit slow (always surprising since it isn't often very full) always cheery. the meal this time was very good - fish and chips (bit too chunky - stick to long sticks - much better) and the prawn linguine were well prepared and hot, nicely served and we followed with a pudding - I think it is the rocky road sundae or maybe the chocolate bombe - it arrives looking exactly like a little plant pot filled with 'soil' (it's ok it's crunchy choccie...) and every part including the very realistic pot, is edible, with a fab caramel sauce - try it - you'll be amazed!

The staff were very inexperienced, incompetent, rude and had no clue about customer service, clearing tables or even taking orders. Plus they didn't really care. The decor and atmosphere were lovely, very rustic and the food was tasty, but the staff put us off ever going again. What a shame!

Good food, but not exactly cheap. I only saw two waiters, one of which was also working behind the bar, but they managed to kept up on a Friday evening, with a smile, on a Friday. Well done!

We had your birthday celebration at keepers, enjoyed the cocktails and the food. the best place to be in town. Highly Recommended.

We had a really lovely dinner here! Nice selection of food everyone would enjoy (pizza, burgers, salads, pasta). Staff were really friendly and smily and very accommodating. Really nice decor and cool interior. Prices reasonable too. Can recommend the keepers rum! Only reason I knocked off a star was that we were practically the only table at 7.30pm on a Saturday … honestly couldn’t say why as we were more than pleased with cleanliness, quality, choice, price and staff. But the lack of diners didn’t make for a great ambience. However, I’d book again without hesitation. Come on people, go to this great place to eat!

We booked afternoon tea with a Wowcher. We arrived and were shown to our table. After 10 minutes a pot of tea arrived. And that's about it! We drank the tea and waited for the food. And waited. There seemed to be 3 servers and only one other table eating, so you wouldn't expect we'd be overlooked, but evidently we were. Half an hour after arriving,I went to the bar and enquired about our food. I went back to the table and waited expecting an update on the order. Nothing. 15 minutes later we got up to walk out, to be told it was ready, but having waited so long, we really were not in the mood. Perhaps if somebody had come to us to tell us it was in hand and with a reasonable explanation for the delay(and offers of more tea/complimentary drink) we'd have felt better. Instead we felt ignored. Worse still, with it being a wowcher offer, it was already paid for. Is this why the service was so bad? We'd made a special trip into Oxford for this occassion, so bitterly disappointed.

Poor food and miserable staff . We had salmon and fish and chips .From the taste you can tell the food was cooked yesterday and served today .

This food was disgusting and hardly edible. The service was abysmal and the staff were bordering on rude. We had to ask for drinks multiple times, including just for tap water - both of which came after our starter. Speaking of our starter, we were not given any cutlery! After we were eventually able to wave down literally any one, we faced disappointment after disappointment. When we asked for cutlery we were made to feel like we were being unreasonable. The drinks nearly made us vomit and were not worth the wait. Right. The food. So my partner’s pizza was undercooked, not cut evenly, missing the onions and peppers and the ‘mushrooms’ were literally just five mushrooms halved and scattered around, again, unevenly. See picture. My carbonara was not good. Go to a nice Italian on George street instead. To make matters worse it cost us £60! And did we mention it was Valentine’s Day? Well, the playlist didn’t get the memo, or is “Cotton-Eyed Joe” a love song? You couldn’t have made this up. Oh! But there was meal time entertainment when the elderly couple next to us started shouting across us to another adjacent couple, one who was watching violent tiktoks extremely loudly on his phone. In fairness to them, they did ask the staff to intervene who fobbed them off. I wish we were exaggerating. Do not go here. Please.

Went for afternoon tea with my mum and daughter. Was disappointed with the selection of sweet treats only had scones and 2 small macaroons on the description it states an assortment of desert bites which we did not get.

We dined in the restaurant this Evening..our starters and desert were fine…the Main course ..we both had salmon was very disappointing..the staff were lovely and we told the waiter we were disappointed with the main course and he gave our desert free of charge which was very nice..we were the only diners in the Restaurant

We went to Keepers @Mercure to celebrate my friends bday..! What a fab experience we had.! This little hidden gem is so gorgeous.. the ambiance, the service, the food.. everything was just spot on..! We thoroughly enjoyed all the gorgeous nibbles (all vegetarian as well!!) and desserts.. simply delectable.. Placido was so lovely and took great care of us.. we cannot wait to go back!

I was with friends last night at the Keepers bar. We had a great time. Lovely food and ambience. Staff were very friendly and fun too. We will definitely visit again. I would recommend everyone to visit. It's especially great for celebrations.

Literally one of the worst restaurant Experiences I ever had, half of the beer menu was unavailable and my fish of the fish & chips menu was smelling like it was already a couple of days old. After I decided to call The waitress for another dish I decided to Take the burger which wasn’t smelling bad at last, but was tasteless and oily. The only reason that this restaurant deserves a star at all is that the interior is nice to some degree Can’t Recommend!

We went there for lunch. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful especially Milena who was extremely attentive and kind. The food, fish and chips and the deli board, was delicious. We will definitely visit again.

Keepers is within the Mecure Eastgate Hotel, with seating arrangement allowing a relaxing atmosphere. The menu had range of meals, all reasonably priced. I recommend the fish & chips. staff were pleasant and helpful.

Deli board was mediocre, several wines were unavailable and although the restaurant and ambiance were comfortable and pleasant, we also waited quite a while for our bill. If I was local I may be tempted to give it another try, but I was just visiting...

Stayed in the Mercure hotel attached to the restaurant, and decided to try a meal here. The food and drinks were delicious, many of which were made with a unique twist, locally produced honey. A special thanks goes out to Nella, who was warm and welcoming, was very knowledgable with regards to the various drinks sold, and made cracking cocktails! Regular customer! I eat at Keepers 1-2 times a week with my girlfriend. It is by far the best place where to eat a steak in Oxford. The price is reasonable and the service is really good. The manager, all the staff, especially Komnas, make feel this place special. Very good wine choices as well. Always coming back with my girlfriend. Definitely recommend to all the couples and all the people who would like to have dinner in a peaceful and friendly environment.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here as a present . Warm, friendly, interesting interior (it is attached to the Eastgate Hotel) with nice staff. Tea (each) was sandwiches, macarons, cupcake and two scones with jam and clotted cream, a glass of prosecco and as much tea as you wanted, Service was good, friendly, place was clean, a few games and books around. They have their own hives and use the honey in their recipes. Left very full. Just a nice venue without pretentiousness. Recommend.

The decor and interior is nice, the concept is cool, and the service is great, but there is zero atmosphere whatsoever which is why this place is only average.

We were saved from the touristy rude nonsense of The Grand Cafe when we fortunately walked into this gem. Food was really good, awesome pub meals, and service was friendly and quick. No rude staff at the door and no one being condescending. I had to leave a good review and my children told me I should, as they loved it too.

We booked our Christmas works party at Keepers Kitchen for 40+ guests. Komnas & Nella were fantastic, from my initial enquiry right through to the event itself, with both being present. The communication was quick and efficient which really made the organising of an event very easy and non-stressful.

We were staying at the Mercure hotel and decided to have dinner in the restaurant downstairs, we were NOT disappointed! I had the vegetarian burger and my Mum had the pork chop - we both really enjoyed our mains and couldn't fault them what so ever. We both had the brownie sundae for desert, which was just as yummy!

My sister, brother in law, and I visited Oxford in September and had our first dinner at Keepers. What a great choice! Their special, the Sticky Honey Whole Baby Chicken, was such a sweet/savory delight. Their drink menu is very good, especially in a town that prides itself on gin, this menu has a much wider selection of other spirits. I had the whiskey sour and then the Honeycomb as a dessert drink, both exceptional. I actually meant to go back again for cocktails but sadly did not. But via email Nella graciously shared a recipe that I requested. I also has the Chocolate Bomb dessert, decadent as it sounds, so good! Overall, this was a top notch dining experience and a lovely start to our four days in Oxford!

Visited here with my Mother for afternoon tea. Sat in the lounge area this was nice and quite mid afternoon. Great customer service would return and will recommend to others.

Attached to Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel but accessible from the street for non residents. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Ate there whilst staying in the hotel and I wanted salmon but it came with a soy and ginger sauce and I don’t like ginger. The restaurant manager got the chef to cook the meal without the sauce which was greatly appreciated. I ate there three times and all meals were perfect.

Popped in for a drink with friends on a Saturday night, wouldn’t normally leave a review for just a drink but the customer service was so lovely we just had to say something. All the staff were so welcoming, chatty and friendly they put us in a great mood ready for our night out!

We popped in to have a few cocktails before going to dinner at the new Ivy brasserie. Well I started with a cocktail called the purple rain which had so much fruit in it you could hardly drink it through the straws provided. Then I went for a honey bubble because it had puree so I thought would be easier to drink.....the glass was 3/4s full of raspberry puree. It was like drinking a smoothie. I prefer my cocktails to be fruity and sweet but this was not good.

My partner and I picked this restaurant on a recent visit to Oxford based on reviews. The venue itself is very nice and the staff attentive. It was quiet when we visited (about 6pm on a Saturday) which was what we’d wanted. The food was also very good. I think it was probably a little pricey but not excessively so.

We popped in to the Keepers en route to the Cowley Road just for G&T;'s. We had to ask the waiter to serve us as they just left us hanging. We ordered 4 different G&T;'s with different mixers which seemed to fox the server who then told us it was his first day. So we cut him some slack for that.

I've walked past Keepers a bunch of times on my way to work but but never really had the chance to drop in. However, a few weeks ago, a friend and I both had the night off from the bar we work at so were able to check them out.

We really enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. The food was overwhelmingly delicious as well as the cocktails we had after. The staff was very nice and friendly. In overall, we had a very good time and we look forward to visiting it again.

My partner took me to this lovely resturant that we never been before. He had made a reservation and we both were so surprised when we were shown to our table which was decorated with sweet and lovely red balloons and a couple of red roses. Komans made us the most lovely cocktails and Nelli made sure that everything were shown to our table in time. This surprised came out to be our best dinner night is ages. So grateful to the staff who made this night so special for us. Thank you Keepers, I am coming back soon.

First visit to this restaurant for a birthday dinner with four people. The place appeared spotlessly clean and had a very peaceful welcoming ambience with soft smooth jazz background music. The service was provided mainly by Vera and was enthusiastic, efficient and warm. The food was extremely tasty, hot and well presented. Steaks were cooked just as we required and the Calamari was cooked to perfection. Prices were reasonable (a 15% service charge was included which I had no problem with but the waitress indicated that this would be removed if we felt we had not received a good service). On this night, there was a promotion for the steak that included buy one get second one free which was kindly received. Wonderful evening and thoroughly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

A friend and I went for lunch and had the amazing Verger (vegan burger). There were lots of good veggie options for me and vegan options for her. We also spotted gluten free options.

Great food, good prices and lovely staff. The homemade pizzas are especially good very thin and very tasty. Stayed in the hotel on business for 5 nights and 8 here 3 out of the 5 nights would highly recommend

Came in for a quick drink were sested and then forgoten about had to go to the Bar to order after beeing told someone would take our order.

This bar was so cute and my friends all loved it. The highlight of our trip to Oxford! The atmosphere is really chill and the decor is so cute. The drinks with the house honey (especially the Honeycomb) were so good. Everyone who worked there was super helpful, kind, and welcoming. Even recognized us when we came back a few days later! Will definitely go again if ever in Oxford and HIGHLY recommend! If I could pick this place up and put it in my hometown, I would.

Very cute, bee themed restaurant, not too crowded. Great service, extremely friendly. REALLY good drinks. I brought different friends in three nights in a row during our stay, and the staff treated us to a free sampling of their deserts. Comfy couches, everyone was very kind, extremely homey atmosphere that surprised me in the middle of the city.

I came here for a family meal to celebrate a birthday, we had a lovely evening. The service was fantastic- we were looked after extremely well by Nella, who was very helpful and friendly- and even gave us a surprise birthday card and glass of prosecco (and sang happy birthday!) which was really special. The atmosphere was lovely, relaxed with an alternative vibe, and the food was perfect. We would come back here in a heartbeat! Thank you guys, keep up the great work!

Some friends and I stumbled across this restaurant and thought it looked great so we decided to go in for 2 for 1 cocktails. We were served by Andre who really looked after us and made us some great cocktails! They were so good we stayed for 2 more each! I will definitely return if in oxford again.

everyone who works here is amazing, Andre especially looked after us so well, he explained the cocktails (2 4 1 before 7pm) and really went the extra mile.

Food was really nice, staff were lovely. Would highly recommend if you are in oxford because the other restaurants are more expensive and food isn’t as good. FYI the Prosecco is not too expensive :)

Came down for coffee as stayed in the hotel above. Nice cost atmosphere like a homey living room. Friendly staff. Didn’t have any food as jet lagged.

The welcome on entry was good. The care and attention of the staff cannot be faulted. Menu choice catered for all our groups tastes - a 10 year old, a 77 year old plain pallet taste in food and a vegan! What more could we ask for. Pizza was 'the best ever eaten' was the review of the 10 yr old. Then there is the desserts....again the vegan of our group was catered for. Overall we think this is one of the nicest; if not the nicest bar/restaurant we have visited. If we visit Oxford in the future we'd definitely visit again.

Went in for a drink but after seeing the reviews this place got we decided to stay for dinner. Food was average but nothing to special to be honest. My husband dit not get the food as he asked for and had to wait along time to get it right. Bad excuses of the staff was just to top it all and we left in a bit of a shock to be honest.

I have been to Keepers numerous times individually and with friends and feel that one of the previous negative reviews to be contrary to every great experience I have had with the venue and staff. Keep up the good work guys 🙂

We struggled to find anywhere to eat in Oxford which was not (a) full, (b) expensive or (c) part of a boring chain, so we ended up at Keepers. Fun place with bee motifs, honey flavoured beer and an interesting menu with lots of fresh, salads stuff. Will try the London one soon.

Having lived in Oxford for many years, we decided to visit Keepers because of the reviews. The first problem we had was not being able to see a menu online, unless we were on Facebook, which we are not.

Visited today for lunch. Nice welcome and great service. Food was lovely and reasonably priced for Oxford. Highly recommend

Staff are wonderful, food was OH, so good, lovely room -- all good things when One is walking & walking & walking about the Old Town and in want of a . . . bourbon and a really-good meal. I was there last of May; Keepers for Bee Keepers, it's a wonderful and yummy experience.

We came to keepers in a very hot afternoon , the staff received us with such a amazing energy , they were very friendly, they made us feel at home , the restaurant decor is amazing , the theme is amazing , very cozy , the cocktails are delicious, and the food very very very tasty , I have to thank all the team from keepers kitchen and bar oxford , for your service , definitely we are coming back , :)

It is my second time visiting Keepers.I went on a Wednesday for the 241 steak and I was lucky to be there on time for 241 cocktails. Just each time amazing experience. Exceptional service and great food.My family and I enjoyed our visit so much.Keep up the good job guys we will be back soon.Still steaming of that purple rain !

Visited here with friends a couple of days ago. The wait staff were attentive and regularly made sure we were all okay. They bought our drinks out quickly, and the food too, it was all so delicious. Great value and great portions.

This restaurant had the slowest service of any restaurant I've ever visited. I could understand if they were crowded but there were maybe 12 customers in the restaurant. I waited 30 minutes for one drink. I waited over an hour for a pizza and when they FINALLY brought it, I told them to box it up. I don't have all day to wait. Negative 4 stars. I will not visit here again.

If you are in Oxford, this is the place to have a lovely breakfast, decent lunch and a cozy dinner. Make sure to warp it up with a drink at the lounge.

Our second visit to Keepers and so glad we came here. A lovely warm welcome from Nella the Manageress and Vera. The Pork Fillet and Chicken Arabiatta were excellent along with the Chocolate Orange Torte and Chocolate Bomb to finish. There is a warm and relaxing atmosphere here and we are already making plans for our third visit. Keep up the good work Nella and the team, we will be back.

This restaurant is attached to the rather posh Eastgate hotel but Keepers is pretty low-key and casual. The service was really great and accommodating, and the food (we ordered a burger and a pasta) was good as well.
