Went in for later breakfast, on arrival not greeted just sat down and had to go and ask to be served as waited for this 2 people just ignored us and casual chatting on their phones around the corner. Once served the food was ok not great.. the service was slow and with attitude and them laughing and swearing.. for price pay would be nice to be greeted.

Family meal with 2 young children. The pub itself is pleasant and menu has a good choice of meals. Kids Mac n Cheese meals were great, no issues there. I ordered the pork belly which was disappointing as the majority of the slice was just fat, very little meat. While the portion looks decent, it isn't and at £25 the whole dish was well overpriced for what you get. My partner ordered the lasagne at £17 which was also underwhelming, the portion was closer to that of a children's portion and unfortunately tasted quite bland. We did have deserts, as the kids had been promised. The crumble was okay, but nothing more, the sticky toffee pudding was very very dry and hard. While the kids ate there portion my partner only had a couple of spoons and couldn't eat the rest. During our meal we did not get asked once if we would like any more drinks, and the time it took from finishing our mains to clearing the plates was over 30 mins, with a further 20 mins for the desert. Such a shame, the reviews do not match the experience we had.

We go to the Housemartin regularly as it's our local, but don't often eat there. Today we decided to have the Sunday carvery and it was excellent, the beef was tender and there was a great selection of freshly cooked vegetables. The team always make you feel welcome and our dogs are always given an extra little fuss by any staff member passing by. I would highly recommend the Housemartin.

We are staying here right now and the staff have been incredible, from reception to the restaurant the service is what I would expect from a 5 star hotel, nothing has been too much bother and everyone has gone above and beyond their job to make sure we have had a great stay. The room is impressive, modern clean and tidy and fully stocked, we had dinner in the restaurant and everything from the steak to the curry was incredible, we would come here for food always if we lived closer. We travel a lot and this has been our best stay, best hotel, best staff and best food for years

Very disappointed we went there yesterday for tea and coffee and cakes we was seated at a table and waited 45minutes and no one took our order.Eneded up going to look for someone to take our order.Once there took our order after 30 minutes we still had not received our drinks and tables around us who came in after us had there orders delivered to them. So we went to find someone again to find what had happened to our order to be told I forgot to put it though too the kitchen. Therethen said there put it through again which we declined as we had been waiting almost an hour at this point. Very disappointed and will not be returning again..

Was part of a group of 8 who visited for lunch. The staff were teally good and attentive. The menu and food was excellent. Sadly there was a problem as a couple of our party are Gluten Free. There was mo indication of what could be served as Gluten Free but unbelievably the didnt have any GF bread. Surely a loaf could be kept in a freezer and slices from it toasted from frozen to be served with pate etc or used instead of a slice of baguette with other dishes that included bread in them.very disappointing

Been here a few times over the years for a few drinks which have been pleasant. Took the family today for lunch and the food was reasonable. One of my daughters had the loaded chilli fries which were decent...I know what I'll be getting next time!

We had a family lunch for Easter and went to the Wheatsheaf as we know the carvery is very good. Our food was lovely and great value. You always get generous portions of meat and have as much of the vegatables as you wish. Roast potatoes were fantastic and service excellent. My brothers young grandson had a childrens meal of sausage and chips. His food was really well presented and he loved it. You cannot beat the Wheatsheaf for value.
