Wonderful food and even better service

Stopped there for food on way home and despite pub being busy we didn't have to wait long for our meals and left them with 4 empty plates.

It's one of my favourite pubs. I've been going there for the last 10 years and never disappointed! The hunter's chicken is delicious 🙂

A lovely time after a long walk, exactly what we needed and Beth w (Beff) was excellent and lovely! Thank you!

Disappointed have been a customer for years and had the worse roast dinner ever . Waited near on a hour and it was overcooked and dry .

So sad to see the food at the Testwood quality drop, this is my local the last three visits the food has been really meh! With today being the worst, ordered the lamb shank the meat was rock hard and sinuous the vegetables were dry, Chewy and disappointing, think I need to find a new local.

I came in for a meal with my family and we all had a lovely time. The food was fantastic and the lady who served us was really attentive.

The food and atmosphere were great, wasn't too pleased with the service, shown to our table and forgotten about, had to remind them we were there after waiting almost 45mins for our order to be taken

We went to the testwood for some calm drinks after a stressful week, we got served by beth and matt. They were very friend and very welcoming. Would highly recommend!

Chose the Lamb Shanks from the main menu - delicious. Starter was the sharer Camembert - delicious Was served by Georgia who was friendly and polite All in all a very pleasant visit.

We a very popular pub as it was very busy. We was booked table for 5 of us. We did have a waitresses, shown our table, she said shr be back to take our food order but after waiting 10 15 mins she didn't come back to service us , to take our order, so we had to order our food/drink at the th bar.

Really nice pub. Food was all really nice. Service was a little slow. But then again nice to not be rushed.

The whole experience was excellent. We had a very warm welcome and the staff were attentive and friendly. Despite it being Christmas Day, everything from start to finish, the food, atmosphere, service was fantastic!

Very good food was good only down fall was no baby changing table to change babys nappy other then that we enjoyed our meal staff were helpful

My partner and I are regulars here and have always been thrilled with the service Luke and team provide. However, today, they went above and beyond. We had a table for 9 reserved including a very little family member. We were warmly welcomed by Luke and shown straight to our table by another lovely chap. We were then given prompt table service for food and drinks throughout. Beth W was our waitress and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, even offering to take family photos for us. We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for helping our family get together go so smoothly. Wishing you all a peaceful.and merry christmas.

My partner and I and our little dog went for a festive lunch, the food was outstanding (Best Roast I've had ) partner had the mushroom wellington and was delicious great service by all would definitely recommend thank you all Kind Regards Caroline

Not visited for a while. Friend and I went for lunch, got there early. Beautiful Christmas decorations, and nicely decorated throughout. Friendly service. I had the lasagne, which was delicious. My friend chose the beef pie, with mash, broccoli and extra gravy. Piping hot, she said best pie she'd had in a long time. We were asked if we wanted anything else twice, so felt looked after, even though it had got extremely busy. Would definitely visit again.

🎄Our party of 16 thoroughly enjoyed our festive meal today at the Testwood... everything went smoothly from the time of booking, menu choices etc. The staff were super friendly, nothing too much trouble despite being very busy, meals were excellent, plentiful and reasonably priced. I visit once per week, during week days Usual time about 5-00pm Avoid any rush, for service. I have my regular Fillet Steak medium Rare. And of course medium glass of red wine. The service is excellent , Young Lady Served me her name , Jamie. Follow up as well, allgood many thanks Keith white retired, also I used to frequent with my Wife, Red Rover, Green King

Had a lovely family birthday lunch here. Pre-booked for the cosy dining area. Big portions and good value for money. Jamie our waitress was very attentive. Desserts were amazing. Would recommend 😊

Good food and chilled atmosphere

Came here on the 1/11/24 and it was amazing time. We've come here multiple times over the years but this time was particularly great due to Beth W. She was super friendly and helpful and made sure we had the best time. The food was also amazing and a massive upgrade from the last time we came. Would highly recommend to anybody in the Calmore/Totton area.

Can't comment on the food as I didn't eat there but the pub is nice, friendly staff, good atmosphere.

Nice pub, welcoming staff, just a shame you youth get to drunk, saying your wig has a hole in it, a walk away, youth of today, he should of took his mask off, Halloween its till the end of October, if I hadn't had my family with me, I would of rearranged his nose

Came in for lunch today with my friends on the off chance and was lovely atmosphere, dog friendly and very attentive staff. Look forward to returning.

I would not recommend the hunters chicken as one of the family members had this and not even half hour of getting home she became unwell and has been up all night with sickness and diarrhea we also have know someone who works there and they have said that the chicken is pre cooked then heated in the microwave when someone orders the hunters chicken.

We spent the evening here for my sons 18th . Phoebe was the loverly girl that served us all evening, went above and beyond to cater to us all . Food is always amazing , lovely atmosphere and catered well for Gluten free. Thank you phoebe for an a.azing evening and you worked your socks off.

Slow service. No smiles from bar staff.

Dropped to 2 stars after a poor dinner, accompanied by bad Service from the bearded guy again (not Luke). 2021 Review: 3 Stars. Getting worse.. The Testwood's interpretation of the current Government guidlines makes your visit a pretty painful experience. The management should try elsewhere and see how it can be done effortlessly, and without putting you off from returning.

Great food and good prices, it's a little loud but it's fun. Staff were prompt and helpful, the table was ready.

Ii feel I have to reply to ivor 2024 review I am guilty for looking after my dogs . My friend and I were asked to move from a table as it had been pre booked. As the pub was quite busy we moved to a table with 2 chairs rather than take a 6 or 8 seater as the pub was starting to get busy. The costomer on the next table ask me to move as he didn't want to eat near smelly dogs .we did move to another table 2 people 3 dogs to keep the peace we could not go any further as there were ather dogs in that Area. The customer starting complaining again even walking over to where we were sat leaning on the table telling us we should go out into the garden with the dogs.i felt I had done my best to to keep the peace. But decided to stay .I mentioned I was a regular and never had a problem before My friend and I felt this costomer to be a bit threatening. In his review he says he hadn't seen me in there before. I have been in to this pub Almost every day for the last 35 years as has my friend..My dogs are groomed daily and taken to the dog wash once a month. Many customers comment on how well behaved the are and some even bring there kids over to have a cuddle with them and none have ever mentioned they smell..even commenting on there shiny coats and laid back manner

Absolutely disgusting by the behaviour of the staff in this pub. I went in with my friend and they all laughed at my friend. I can’t believe this sort of behaviour is accepted by the manager. This is disgraceful and I will never return to this pub because of this behaviour! discrimination is never acceptable let alone from staff who should know better and a manager who allows this.

For reference: my friend has restricted growth. The staff were discriminative against our friend. They were outside and decided to laugh at our friend as she was walking inside. They then proceeded to do the same as we were leaving. Clearly the staff can't handle anyone that walks in thats outside of their realm of normality. To be specific, one of their names is Matt. The other is the apparent assistant manager, she is blonde and chavy looking who has a child and clearly bringing them up to be as awful as her.

It was really good pub food it also has a lovely garden area so it’s nice to sit out there in the sun 🌞

Wow fantastic place very welcoming manager lovely staff.

I love this place for a bite to eat. Bar staff were extremely busy when we arrived but were amazing to us, double checked our order due to intolerances which was appreciated. Long wait at the bar to pay due to card machines being down however, overall another fantastic visit.

Food was good value for money, i had the fish and chips which were perfectly adequate, the fish was nice and crispy bit not overcooked. The pub was clean, quite quiet but we did go on a week night fairly late.

Been here twice now, the last time was for Sunday Roast lunch. The service and food was top notch. The staff are friendly and helpful. The roast dinners were plentiful and cooked well, we had the turkey and the beef & turkey combo. Just about had room for a dessert. Prices are fair, not too expensive and the atmosphere is pleasant.

The biggest compliments to the chef! Food was lush. I had a Sunday roast lamb shank (see picture) and my partner had a burger with Texas BBQ sauce. We are big foodies and both of those dishes hit the spot 👌🏻 Apart from the food- customer service was great. The pub was busy but they managed to accommodate us. Toilets were clean, music wasn't loud in any of the areas (much appreciated!) and parking is big enough so you don't have to look anywhere else to park ✨ Thank you and see you again soon 🌸

We love to go to the Testwood most weeks. this week we had Chloe & Georgia our drinks were served by Georgia and were perfect just how I like mine. Chloe served us with the food and she was very attentive and looked after the three of us very well having good staff like these two makes the meal more enjoyable and the big plus was the food was great nice and hot too. Came here on Saturday,.with a couple friends for some drinks, sat on the patio, and was tempted to eat by the smell the food. Decided to have the bbq burger, and wasn't disappointed.

After many happy visits lm sad to say my latest visit was awful and that I will not be eating or drinking here again. My partners lamb shank roast looked like a ready meal my teenage sons burger was served with salad and sauce when requested with none. And there where other customers sat nearby telling my 2 year old to shut up whilst singing to nursery rhymes as there was a 40 min wait for food. So disappointed 😞
