The Testwood in New Forest

I visit once per week, during week days Usual time about 5-00pm Avoid any rush, for service. I have my regular Fillet Steak medium Rare. And of course medium glass of red wine. The service is excellent , Young Lady Served me her name , Jamie. Follow up as well, allgood many thanks Keith white retired, also I used to frequent with my Wife, Red Rover, Green King

Came here on the 1/11/24 and it was amazing time. We've come here multiple times over the years but this time was particularly great due to Beth W. She was super friendly and helpful and made sure we had the best time. The food was also amazing and a massive upgrade from the last time we came. Would highly recommend to anybody in the Calmore/Totton area.

Came in for lunch today with my friends on the off chance and was lovely atmosphere, dog friendly and very attentive staff. Look forward to returning.

I would not recommend the hunters chicken as one of the family members had this and not even half hour of getting home she became unwell and has been up all night with sickness and diarrhea we also have know someone who works there and they have said that the chicken is pre cooked then heated in the microwave when someone orders the hunters chicken.

We spent the evening here for my sons 18th . Phoebe was the loverly girl that served us all evening, went above and beyond to cater to us all . Food is always amazing , lovely atmosphere and catered well for Gluten free. Thank you phoebe for an a.azing evening and you worked your socks off.

Slow service. No smiles from bar staff.

Dropped to 2 stars after a poor dinner, accompanied by bad Service from the bearded guy again (not Luke). 2021 Review: 3 Stars. Getting worse.. The Testwood's interpretation of the current Government guidlines makes your visit a pretty painful experience. The management should try elsewhere and see how it can be done effortlessly, and without putting you off from returning.

Great food and good prices, it's a little loud but it's fun. Staff were prompt and helpful, the table was ready.

Ii feel I have to reply to ivor 2024 review I am guilty for looking after my dogs . My friend and I were asked to move from a table as it had been pre booked. As the pub was quite busy we moved to a table with 2 chairs rather than take a 6 or 8 seater as the pub was starting to get busy. The costomer on the next table ask me to move as he didn't want to eat near smelly dogs .we did move to another table 2 people 3 dogs to keep the peace we could not go any further as there were ather dogs in that Area. The customer starting complaining again even walking over to where we were sat leaning on the table telling us we should go out into the garden with the dogs.i felt I had done my best to to keep the peace. But decided to stay .I mentioned I was a regular and never had a problem before My friend and I felt this costomer to be a bit threatening. In his review he says he hadn't seen me in there before. I have been in to this pub Almost every day for the last 35 years as has my friend..My dogs are groomed daily and taken to the dog wash once a month. Many customers comment on how well behaved the are and some even bring there kids over to have a cuddle with them and none have ever mentioned they smell..even commenting on there shiny coats and laid back manner

For reference: my friend has restricted growth. The staff were discriminative against our friend. They were outside and decided to laugh at our friend as she was walking inside. They then proceeded to do the same as we were leaving. Clearly the staff can't handle anyone that walks in thats outside of their realm of normality. To be specific, one of their names is Matt. The other is the apparent assistant manager, she is blonde and chavy looking who has a child and clearly bringing them up to be as awful as her.

Absolutely disgusting by the behaviour of the staff in this pub. I went in with my friend and they all laughed at my friend. I can’t believe this sort of behaviour is accepted by the manager. This is disgraceful and I will never return to this pub because of this behaviour! discrimination is never acceptable let alone from staff who should know better and a manager who allows this.

I love this place for a bite to eat. Bar staff were extremely busy when we arrived but were amazing to us, double checked our order due to intolerances which was appreciated. Long wait at the bar to pay due to card machines being down however, overall another fantastic visit.

Food was good value for money, i had the fish and chips which were perfectly adequate, the fish was nice and crispy bit not overcooked. The pub was clean, quite quiet but we did go on a week night fairly late.

Really lovely food, fantastic service and welcoming atmosphere, massive shout out to the lovely lady with the red hair, I think her name was Alisha ? We will 100% be back 😊

Food great staff great but a bit slow on this occasion, waited a long time for our main meal and then awaiting the bill, had to pay at the bar eventually.

Been here twice now, the last time was for Sunday Roast lunch. The service and food was top notch. The staff are friendly and helpful. The roast dinners were plentiful and cooked well, we had the turkey and the beef & turkey combo. Just about had room for a dessert. Prices are fair, not too expensive and the atmosphere is pleasant.

The biggest compliments to the chef! Food was lush. I had a Sunday roast lamb shank (see picture) and my partner had a burger with Texas BBQ sauce. We are big foodies and both of those dishes hit the spot 👌🏻 Apart from the food- customer service was great. The pub was busy but they managed to accommodate us. Toilets were clean, music wasn't loud in any of the areas (much appreciated!) and parking is big enough so you don't have to look anywhere else to park ✨ Thank you and see you again soon 🌸

We love to go to the Testwood most weeks. this week we had Chloe & Georgia our drinks were served by Georgia and were perfect just how I like mine. Chloe served us with the food and she was very attentive and looked after the three of us very well having good staff like these two makes the meal more enjoyable and the big plus was the food was great nice and hot too. Came here on Saturday,.with a couple friends for some drinks, sat on the patio, and was tempted to eat by the smell the food. Decided to have the bbq burger, and wasn't disappointed.

Smart pub, will try the food next time.

After many happy visits lm sad to say my latest visit was awful and that I will not be eating or drinking here again. My partners lamb shank roast looked like a ready meal my teenage sons burger was served with salad and sauce when requested with none. And there where other customers sat nearby telling my 2 year old to shut up whilst singing to nursery rhymes as there was a 40 min wait for food. So disappointed 😞

Came for lunch for our Father's Birthday today. All 5 meals were amazing and the Staff were attentive. Puddings were lovely too! Thank you all for an enjoyable couple of hours.

Pub is beautiful inside and out, owners definitely have spent a great deal of time and money to make one of the best, family friendly pubs in the area

We recently visited Testwood pub in Totton and left quite disappointed. The service was poor; when we were ready to pay for our meal, it took them ten minutes to acknowledge us, despite numerous staff members walking past without offering assistance. The food was subpar. The fish and chips tasted like cheap fish, definitely not cod or haddock. Additionally, anything fried had the same batter taste, whether it was the fish or the onion rings. No amount of salt, pepper and malt vinegar can salvage it. Overall, our visit was underwhelming, and we wouldn't recommend it.

We went as a party of 33. All precooked and paid for meals. They coped well only hiccup seemed to come at dessert time. Food stars good for pub not fine dining.

We had to change our original venue for our meal at the last minute, very glad we did so. Staff were all welcoming, cheerful and efficient. Food was absolutely spot on, hot, tasted great and looked like it had been plated with care. Our ticket included 7 mixed grills that all came out top notch, and my rare rump steak was cooked to perfection. As someone who works in the industry I appreciate how tricky that order was to get out in one hit so hats off to all of the team. Thank you to all the team at the Testwood for a wonderful evening. We were meeting up to say goodbye to a loved one, so it means a lot that everything was so splendid.

On arrival the bar staff served us drinks then swiftly followed by all 14 meals. They were all very well presented and hot. 7 mixed grills was all cooked to order. Credit to the chef And staff whom was All very friendly 👍Everyone was very Happy with Thier meals And we enjoyed our visit..so testwood pub saved the day. Thanks to All staff Cheers 👍 Tina

After being let down at the last minute by another local pub for a family meal the night before my mum's funeral the testwood was Very Happy to accommodate a table of 14 with only 6 hour's notice..the manager And his staff were all very welcoming And very swiftly served us drinks followed by all 14 meals coming out hot And very well presented including 7 mixed grills. Have been to the Testwood on one other occasion The staff are very polite and attentive The pub is very clean and a bonus that takes dogs The food is average what you would expect from Green king chains Not expensive and is affordable for families with young children The restaurant was very busy and no one seemed to be waiting for their meals all staff were busy helping customers Would I would return yes

There were three couples for lunch. The restaurant is clean and well lit. A good selection on the menu. We ordered different meals which were brought out in a timely fashion, well cooked and presented nicely. Really good value for money

This spot is awful. Food isn't up to standard cold and dry chicken, gammon is flavourless and menu was appalling. Had to ask for a kids menu and begrudgingly was given one. Screaming kids and drug dealers gallor, I'd give this place a wide berth. First and last time I eat here if I could I'd give it no stars

We visited with friends for a late lunch on a saturday. The food was very good - generous portions and good flavour. The service was good and the food arrived fairly quickly. The garden area is large, but it was a little too cold to sit outside as the food would have cooled fast. We therefore sat indoors in a dining area at the back of the pub. It was quiet at first, but then a group of lads arrived, sat down with beers and started vaping. To be fair they were warned by the bar staff, but carried on anyway - the bar staff were probably out-numbered! If you don't smoke or vape, the (unpleasant) smell is really off-putting and doesn't go well with food. We'd go back, but not at a busy time.

Ate here today, 26/3. Our food was well presented by Simon the chef and perfectly cooked. Paige our waitress was friendly, very professional and a delight. Thankyou to these 2 members of staff who made our lunch amazing. We get little time of work so this was a special lunch. Thankyou guys.

We came in here before the AFC Totton match on Saturday 23rd March. The bar service is normally good here but I was VERY put off on this occasion. We got served by a member of staff who was coughing and spluttering all over the bar. They were sweating buckets and shouting to colleagues ‘I was out Friday night and now I have a sore throat and feel so rubbish’. This member of staff was coughing and spluttering all over our drinks and kept touching their sweaty face. Disgusting! I asked another member of staff for a different glass to prevent germs being transferred. This is unacceptable and the manager should NOT have allowed this member of staff to work and spread their germs across the pub… let alone the drinks being served! Despicable.

My steak way over cooked. But sent back and re done. Second one was lovely. Very nice manager. Very apologetic. So will be returning.

Booked a table for 15 on Mothers Day 2024. The staff were very well organised and the service was excellent. Phoebe took our order and we were so impressed with her dealing with all our requests. The food was lovely particularly the roast dinners. Lots of meat and gravy and a good selection of veg. Thank you for making it such a good experience.

Took my parents out for lunch here. Very nice premises and a lovely interior design. The food was surprisingly good and well priced. All the staff seemed happy to be there and were very friendly. I would recommend and will be back in the future.

Enjoyed our visit whilst on holiday in Southampton; good food, friendly service and a cost atmosphere.

Confusion from the start didn't know what table we were sitting on, lots of fish dishes not avaliable, half hour wait for food, then the roast was awful meat inedible so tough, veg so hard and frozen, stuffing was a frozen packet, gravy so thick it was glupy. Not a good experience won't be returning.

£9.50 for 1 1/2 pints of lager ,, other than that it was ok,,, couldn’t afford to eat after buying the first round lol

A group of us - about 22 from Bartley lunch club visited Monday 19th...having placed our order during the previous week....Pub was welcoming and we sat in an area which was well lit....chairs very comfortable for our seniors members.....food was very good...my mixed grill was excellent...no room for dessert !!...Thanks due to the cook and servers for looking after us all.....We will return !!!

There were 4 of us and we were promptly looked after by a young waitress. We ordered drinks and food and the staff started to bring us the glasses for the water & wine. 4 out of 8 glasses were dirty with some lipstick on it too, and the carafe's handle of the water, was dirty and oily! So we sent them back. Then the wine arrived and it was the wrong one, so we told the waitress that they had sent the wrong wine, in which she replied that the wine we chose was not available. But obviously they failed to tell us and they sent instead a wine of their choice! Then the food arrived and one of us asked for some new potatoes but instead she had fries on her plate. So again we inquired about it and again the waitress told us that they had run out of new potatoes and put on the plate whatever they wanted, again without consulting her! Maybe because of the young staff they had, they're not very experienced, but still, you need to give a good service to the customers. Maybe the owner, needs to properly train their staff, regardless of their age!

The staff was really un welcoming , sarcastic when asked a question by one of us and dam right rude in particular one young .male which I didn't get his name but rest assured we will not be going back there for any occasion and we will be sending messages to other people and friends not to use the testwood pub in totton , you should be ashamed of your self and your staff.........

After my last review from my visit in November when the place was so cold. Luke and his team took the time to contact us and assure that the heating had been fixed. We went back on Sunday 17/12/23 and had a much better experience. every thing was hot cooked properly and we had a wonderful time

Had a family Christmas meal with 9 people. No complaints!

We visited the Teswood for a breakfast with santa, we arrived on time at 10 o'clock and every thing was ready with the tables laid and staff ready to take orders. Drinks were ordered and came quickly, then we all ordered our breakfast and every thing was well presented and well cooked. Santa came to make sure we have all been good all year so he could get our presents delivered. All the staff were friendly and helpful so a BIG thank to all staff and management and a happy Christmas.

First time we have been for a Christmas meal as a family, was very impressed, we pre ordered, the food was delivered in a timely fashion by a few waiters / waitresses, nice and hot , tasty, good variety of food and great value. Hope to have our Christmas do here again next year.
