Went last night for the first time & I will definitely be going back again. Fish lovely, chips loads of & tried the ribs ( as seen on previous reviews they were a must try !) And was not disappointed at all. Service good & friendly. Thanks fish & chicken, will see you again soon.

Never visited before as always thought it was a fish place 😬. Went for Mother’s Day. Booked a table for 7 and was given a round table which was perfect. Food and service was excellent. I had the turkey roast dinner with a side of cauliflower cheese. Gorgeous. Will definitely be visiting again. Can highly recommend the biscoff mini doughnuts with a nice cappuccino for dessert.

This was one of those where shall we go for lunch lunches! What a lovely pub, splendid food excellent service, lovely pint of beer and it’s Eddy the dog friendly in the bar. We had dinner here one evening but visited for drinks on two other locations. The menu is very good and we enjoyed the blade of beef special. Food well presented and delicious. Nice old pub, a short walk across the old bridges from the centre of Ringwood or there is a car park. Good ales and a choice of two real ciders, dog friendy

Popped in for a drink on Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. Good atmosphere and some good Butcombe Beer. Went early, band turned up. Unfortunately animals to sort so had to leave, but will go back. Menu looks ok

First visit to The Fish and a Butcombe pub we weren’t disappointed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We signed up for the loyalty scheme beforehand and had two mains with drinks for £30. The food was excellent and we will be back. The seasonal beer was very smooth but not my first choice, although two of the regular offerings of Golden Ale and IPA were “coming soon “ The side of Onion rings was more than the two of us could manage, which was a shame as they were very tasty.

Visited for lunch with friends. Pub was quiet but friendly. Food was pleasant, well cooked and adequate as is to be expected of a Butcombe establishment.

Not only a lovely comfy pub but the added benefit of great food .. never been disappointed. Just had delicious Sunday lunch ... perfectly cooked beef and fresh veg served with a side order of friendliness!

It's worth the 15-minute drive. Was able to get gluten-free fish and chips for my son, which he loved, and it looked really good. Friendly service, and I'm definitely going there from now on

We went to The Fish inn on Sunday 31 December 2023. The staff are so friendly and the food is amazing. I had a Sunday roast which was gorgeous and my husband had a burger which he says is the best burger around. Thanks to all of the staff for a lovely friendly visit and amazing food.

Best chippy in the Colchester, hands down. It was closed, or not taking orders online the other night, so I went to somewhere recommended by a friend, and when it turned up, it reminded me just how superior the food at Fish & chicken is. Definitely my "go to" chippy.

We visited yesterday 18th December with my wife and her dad plus her brother. I haven’t been there for some years now but the others have. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Service was prompt. The main menu was great with lots of good local choices unlike lots of other pubs I’ve been to in the Kent are where I live. Lots of locally sourced food and nicely prepared and cooked. I and my brother in law especially liked the faggots which were very nice. There was also a good selection of beers non alcoholic or otherwise. My wife had the pie of the day which she said was delicious and my father in law had the fish and chips which was also excellent The restaurant is also very dog friendly which is an absolute bonus to us so well done! .

Food us good, lots of choice, bit of a wait though due to how busy this place is...recommend order in advance.

A stunning building! Such a lovely Sunday lunch, the roast was delicious and hubby had one of the best steaks he has had in a long while. Staff were so good and a very dog friendly establishment!

Whenever you are in Ringwood you must visit the fish inn (booking ahead recommended). Judith and Simon the chef/husband run an exceptional Inn with proper, awesome home made/cooked food with courteous, polite professional friendly service. We definitely recommend chefs homemade steak and ale pie, just full of meat and flavour off the scale. Sunday lunch is a must with local roast meats and vegetables cooked perfectly. I guarantee you will love the food , friendly service, oerfect location right by the river, and like us will be must go to place

We rang from the car to book Friday night meal while travelling through. The welcome and service from the phone call to when we left was friendly, charming and efficient. Thanks Paul, Holly and the team. We all had peppered steak and mushroom pie, really tender meat. Good portion size. Lovely ambiance with a live band. I had the impression it is a very family friendly pub. Great value, great stop-off.

The meals were very good. Location is excellent, next to the river in Ringwood. Staff were good without being exceptional, on the whole. However, special thanks to the waitress for dealing so well with special dietary requirements. Good value for money.

Well worth the visit, from the moment we arrived (well kept exterior with beautiful flowering baskets), and the warm welcome inside. The pub is clean and comfortable. We sat in the pub side, (closer to motorway but not much road noise). Menu is varied, with something for all appetites. We shared the special starter of butterlied sardines (could maybe use some kind of sauce/dip for the sardines we thought). For mains we had Nduja rigatoni, (smaller portion which was plenty, as the sauce was a little rich but very good) & chicken Caesar salad, both were delicious (although I personally prefer skinless chicken). We were going to leave it there but.. OMG, if you go, try the sticky date and toffee pudding, it is without doubt, the best we have ever tried.. The affogato is also worth trying, for those who want a lighter desert. All this and extrmely reasonably priced. 10% optional service charge is added to the bill however the service and overall experience was well worth it....

Friendly staff. I get very anxious in new places, but felt comfortable from the moment I walked through the door. We all had a meal and they were all cooked perfectly and served hot with a smile. Definately coming again.

We had been wanting to go to this pub for years and finally made the booking. We were not disappointed. Everyone agreed that the food was excellent (I had the fish and chips) and the staff were very friendly and accommodating when we asked to change tables. My only issue really was getting there. I thought now that the road works had finished on the main road that we could go in that way but you can't so maybe a little update on the website would be good 😊 google maps still takes you that way too. Popped in for a Sunday roast,sat in the garden which has a beautiful feel to it despite it being close to the main road. We had two children roasts,home made bread sauce and some of the best horseradish sauce I have ever had!! Despite hating to pay pub prices for soft drinks it was one of the nicest tasting, and best presented roasts I have had for some time…. So do go here if you fancy a nice roast!

Very poor meal served up on a quiet Monday evening. Two of our party had buttermilk chicken burgers which were burnt to a cinder and pink in the middle. We sent them back but there was little in the way of an apology and we didn't have confidence in the chef to cook another one so ordered something else, which came when the other two in our party had almost finished. The burger meal which replaced one of the chickens was cold. There was no concession made on the bill and we left feeling we certainly wouldn't be back. On the very rare occasion I have had to send a meal back elsewhere it has been provided free or at least at a discount but no such service here. You don't expect to pay £16 for such a poorly presented meal.

Access is tricky by car but there is plenty of car parking. My wife had fish and chips. The small quntity of chips did not look very inviting. I had the large trout fish cakes ie two, with some watercress and a green sauce, that is it. The fish cakes had zero favour. The service was slow but cheerful. The event was a disappointment, we did not venture into the puddings.

My partner and myself came here for a roast dinner and it was absolutely lovely. Paid extra for cauliflower cheese which was so good as well just annoying you have to pay so much more extra for it. Beef was cooked perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend and will come back soon.

Just had 5 meals at The Fish Inn. This included drinks, main course and desserts. Food was delicious, decent size portions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Horseradish and mayonnaise were clearly homemade, as was the pastry on the pies. Thank you for a lovely meal.

The smallest bit of fish I've ever had from a fish and chip shop, made worse by thin, flat, soggy batter (if it was batter)

Lovely thatched roof pub with lots of character, food and drink was great and the service was spot on. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area.

We were staying at the nearby Premier Inn and walked into town to find somewhere to eat late afternoon on a Sunday, the kitchen was about to close but the waitress took the trouble to check they could accommodate us for which we were grateful, particularly as they had had a busy afternoon as it was Fathers Day. The fish and chips we ordered were delicious, we only had a small portion which was more than adequate, fish was fresh and batter was lovely and crispy, chips were perfect as was the tartar sauce. All in all a great meal, very reasonably priced, restaurant nice and clean, a lovely location by the river, really friendly staff, will definitely return next time we are passing by.

Ringwood has many pubs but i can honestly say this is easily the cleanest one. The food is wonderful. Very, good value for what you get. The outside garden space is perfect for just chilling in the summer. A little off the beaten track but...

Cracking chippy found on the Willows estate in Colchester. The battered fish or sausage and burger is always good and they make great chips. I’ve never tried the chicken but that looks good too. Can get busy on a Friday evening but food is cooked promptly to order. I would recommend this fish and chip shop.

Best chips we have had in a long time, best in Colchester, fresh crisp and fluffy inside. The half chicken and ribs are highly recommended.
