Beautiful place first class food great choice beer. First class service. 2 dart boards Poole table. Highly recommend.

Service is always great here. I have been with my running group each time, so queues at the bar are a bit long but soon go down. Can’t knock them.

The staff always look after us after our Thursday run.

We don't get out much, but as a treat, we go out to the karaoke, usually on the first Friday of the month. Very enjoyable and always made to feel welcome!

Good venue tucked well out of the way, decent music in the beer garden which is well let lit for the darker evenings make it a good year-round venue with weather permitting. Food is reasonably priced for bike nights and there is plenty of motorcycle parking space too.

Just popped in to try the roast dinner, amazing value and the beef and chicken meals were delicious. Definitely will be back. Compliments to the chef. £10 for a roast. Or £12 for mixed meat 👍

Really friendly and welcoming pub, the staff and proprietors are really nice and make the pub such a pleasure to visit. Vast selection on larger, cider and ales with a great menu to accompany them. Sunday roast is a must especially at £10-£12

Although the male member of staff was friendly. We paid £2.00 for an instant cup of coffee we could have made at home! Very odd for a bar restaurant to not own a coffee machine!

This place has potential but is currently under achieving. The roast was good, really well seasoned. The atmosphere was lacking. At times the music from the kitchen was louder than the music played in the restaurant which doesn't come across professional. If the interior could be lifted and a few tweaks, a little TLC, this could be an amazing spot, it lacks soul. Great location. Hope to see this place do well in what is a daunting industry in the current climate.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch today. Lots of choice and a great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Beautiful garden with lovely views. We'll worth visit.

Ate here with a party of nine last Sunday, the roast is probably one of the best pub/restaurant roasts I've had in a long time. If the weekday menu lives up to the Sunday one it will be well worth another visit.

Although the look is not as polished as other places, the food was hearty and well prepared and the drinks selection was excellent. We shall look forward to coming here again for a Sunday roast

We dropped in the other Sunday to have a drink maybe something to eat we hadn’t booked but was welcomed with amazing service felt at home at once we where sorted out a table , we ordered some drinks with smiles and great service we ordered some food what can I say best food ever home cooked roast dinner was so good haven’t stopped talking about it will be back again for sure 10/10

We found 'The Traveller's Rest' by accident and so pleased we stopped for a meal. The pub has a great atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent and as the evening grew chilly, and we were on the patio, we were invited to finish our meal inside (even our dog was welcome). A gem of a pub with a lovely view of the countryside!

Just had a great Sunday lunch at the Travs. Staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The food was lovely too.

Had an amazing take away roast today, 2 chicken and 1 pork. Although my son said the pork wasn't the best, he shared some of the generous portion from the chicken roast I had and tucked into the rest... never seen crackling like that ! Generous portions of veg, included peas, carrots, battered parsnip, swede and roast potatoes, it even had bright green broccoli, unlike we've had before elsewhere, all cooked perfectly and gave the whole presentation a wonderful colour. The only thing wrong was because it was a take out and had a covered container the Yorkshire pudding wasn't crunchie but that couldn't be helped and certainly didn't spoil the enjoyment. We finished off with one of each desert, chocolate bownie, lemon cheese cake and a sponge dish with fruit sorry can't remember the name, but all were delicious. The only reason for the 4 out of 5, is the Sunday menu didn't offer a veggi or vegan alternative which nowadays is a must. Not on line anyway. Will definitely be ordering again, best take out roast we've had through the whole lock down!

A fantastic little traditional pub hidden in a simply beautiful rural location. Parking and garden with a fantastic view. They have a new chef who is exceptional. Our food was nothing less than outstanding. Great live music in the garden too. Very impressive service, friendly and on the ball. Highly recommend a visit soon.

Lamb shank with mash and amazing mushroom red wine sauce, wife had the chicken with mozzarella white wine sauce, both really really tasty, generously sized meals, really good value for money!

Best takeaway Sunday roast and we've tried a few from different places over the last months! Would definitely recommend, generous portion, everything cooked well (except brussel sprouts..softer next time pls!), meat delicious, variety of veg and extra gravy. Will be back😁

Had a really lovely lunch at the travellers rest. As usual Stefan cooked a knockout roast . Service was very good . Everyone friendly and all the rules of COVID in place. A thoroughly lovely lunch

Nice cosy pub, watched a band here last night, very snug area once they had set up all their stuff as one of the side room was closed off, but definitely one of the nicer pubs in the area. Drinks are reasonably priced and staff were lovely.

A pub in the middle of nowhere. Completely off the beaten track with the modern rosd system. In different times it was a coach house. Food is lovely and a good selection of beers and wine. Being very sexist the barmaid has a wonderful bum. What more can be said

Nice pub situaties next to nature on the edge of Dibden Purlieu.

I'm a powerchair user and found the access via a short, wide, smooth walk or roll with a very slight incline ideal. Wide double doors open onto a flat, smooth surface which continues throughout the building. The wheelchair accessible toilet was fine for me and prob would be to anyone in a manual but may present a challenge for a big powerchair. The menu was not huge but adequate. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive and we'll visit again, hopefully in better weather.

Nipped in here for lunch and a drink. We’re staying at Gardeners Cittage nearby. We had lamb shank with mash, peas and gravy. Very nice. Locals and staff are very friendly. We had Lola the dog with us and she was very well received! The only thing I would say is please stock more bitters. They only have John Smiths. Otherwise lovely!

We had seen some FB reviews recommending this little pub in Debden Purlieu/Hythe ( up a no through lane and overlooking a wooded area) There was parking on a slope and a group of wild birds on the grass. A small outside area had bench tables. It has been u dear new ownership since last March and there was evidence of refurbishment in the bar and dining room ( still got the toilet area to do) The waitress was welcoming and pro active, the landlord was overseeing the locals in the bar area which had a Sports t v . Roast lunches £10, are served between 12.30 and 3 and we had a choice of beef, lamb shank and pork, with a huge Yorkshire and veg. About a dozen people were eating. We ordered desserts ( rhubarb crumble and berry meringue , under £5 too.) There is a landlord’s quiz on Sunday nights from 7 pm which we were interested in though no food is available at the moment. The lunches were possibly too generous and tasty ( although the beef slices were too well done and thick for me and the gravy could be thicker.) There is free WiFi and a cosy ambiance so we will return.

A scruffy pub in serious need of a refurb. When the old tenants moves out we thought the new ones would spruce the place up. It's probably worse than it was before.

Went in Sunday afternoon at 230 pm half hour before kitchen closed. Both meals and plates lukewarm.likewise gravy boat just warm.runner beans limp and over cooked.complsined and offered free pud. Both lamb and turkey well cooked although not a man sized meal.not enough potatoes Feel should have been offered replacement not money off bill or free puds. Probably had the last food available.!! Bar service good and beer fine. Music mid afternoon good. However gents toilets dirty smears rear of door from bar. Skirtings mould and dirty and not cleaned for some time ...sink dirty and taps badly need replacement overall needs full deep clean even if still scruffy.likewise inside window frames in bar backing onto the car park dirty/mould. Appreciate new owners may be going to repaint but in the meantime no excuse for lack of cleanliness. Overall not going back or recommending this pub unless they can improve a lot and swiftly.

Nice quaint little english pub. Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of life. Good beer, live music, pool table but lacks a good hearty menu for the hungry.

My partner and I went to the Italian night at the Travellers Rest last night. The Italian food (6 courses) was really good, so much of it, for the money. Apparently they are having theme nights the first Wednesday every month, the next being Cypriot night I believe. We will certainly be going again. The people are really friendly and the landlord and his wife are lovely. We have also have had a breakfast on Sunday mornings on several occasions which was really good. I have also lived in DP and could not wait to move. They only really have The Heath to go to, no comment about that place. I agree about e cigs in pubs, but we have not seen any so far. Nothing wrong with working mens clubs either, quite a lot of people from DP go to the one in Hythe. I think it is really mean reading Janholls comment about the Travs give them a chance I say.
